Hi, please I need help with this.
My wife and I are currently on psw, we have a 2yr old child who was born in the UK while on our PSW and we did a dependant visa for her. Now we are about to switch to a new visa and I was wondering...
1. Is it compulsory to do another dependant visa for her or she can remain legally in the UK without a visa since she was born her and we have no plans on traveling out of uk with her...
2. Not putting her on any visa after the psw expires, will it have any impact on her legal stay in uk and will it affect her if we decide to apply ro her ILR after 7yrs or citizenship after 10yrs, or will it affect her enrollment into school. (I already know about the NHS out of pocket payment)
3. If at any point I need to apply for a visa for her, will her full uk birth certificate suffice or I need to get her a Nigerian passport (which involves registration on NPC, then NIN biometrics, then registration on Nigerian immigration Service website I listed the steps to know if it's the correct sequence).
I have tried checking online and have made enquiries but keep getting contradicting answers as regards the visa.
Please someone should kindly assist clarify. Thanks |

Dtruthspeaker: Separation and Dissolution of marriage aka divorce is different and should be different from determination of the rights and liabilities of the parties arising from the effects of marriage. That is the part that should go to court like every other matter.
But divorce as presently constituted that is registry marriage (marriage under the Act) is evil to a spouse who needs to run away from a marriage they no longer want. Imagine that oga and the wife in this case up here have to wait 2yrs before they can initiate divorce proceedings. The law did not even provide for an exception eg that if they both consent to it. They just have to suffer for 2yrs in this mess which we know that GBV will take place, marital rape and a whole lot of evils.
Exiting a marriage should be free and easy as it might be life saving. I don't think the law is absolute. I think there are exceptions, like evidence of threat to life DV, serious neglect and abuse etc. Also, nobody said they must live under the same roof for the two years innit? One person can move out. |
Romance › Re: You'll Find Love Without Money. But Only When You're A Boy by vanvickie(m): 6:26pm On Jun 27 |
AccidentedCars: People confuse this with "women are materialistic."
No.
I'm telling you that YOU as a man won't be able to function in a relationship the way you want to without baseline financial capacity.
It's not about her demands. It's about YOUR standard.
I couldn't watch my partner prepare for the most important interview of her year while stressing about how she'd get there, where she'd sleep, and whether she'd look presentable. That wasn't possible for me. My brain doesn't work that way.
So the bus ticket, the hotel room, the blouse – those weren't gifts to her.
They were the minimum I could offer someone I claimed to love in a moment that mattered.
If you can't afford that minimum, the relationship doesn't die because she leaves. It dies because YOU start resenting yourself.
And that resentment eats everything. U shld have booked a flight.. It's more convenient. |
Romance › Re: You'll Find Love Without Money. But Only When You're A Boy by vanvickie(m): 6:25pm On Jun 27 |
AccidentedCars: You will find love without money, but only when you're a boy. When you become a man, that grace is taken from you.
There's a level of affection you will NEVER experience, even from good women, if you can't afford a basic, livable income.
I am not even referring to sending money in its monetary form. I mean just the things that make life easier to go through.
My partner had a job interview in another city last year. Not a local thing – a real opportunity, the kind that could shift her career.
The interview was at 9 AM on a Monday.
She told me about it on Thursday evening.
By Friday morning, I had booked her a bus ticket for Sunday, reserved a decent hotel room near the venue so she wouldn't be scrambling on Monday morning, and sent her money for a new blouse because the one she planned to wear had a pulled thread she hadn't noticed.
She did her prep on Saturday. I sat on a video call with her for nearly 3 hours while she practiced her answers. Not because she asked – because I knew she was nervous and wouldn't say it.
Sunday evening she got to the city. She called me from the hotel room.
"Babe, it's clean. There's hot water. I feel like a human being."
That sentence hit me differently.
"I feel like a human being."
The bus ticket, the hotel, the blouse – maybe ₦85,000 total. Not a fortune. But it was the difference between her showing up stressed, underprepared, and exhausted from an overnight bus… and showing up rested, sharp, and confident.
She got the role.
This isn't a one-off. This is just what being present looks like when you can afford to be.
I keep a stocked kitchen whenever she's around. Not fancy things – eggs, bread, rice, the basics. But ALWAYS stocked. Because "there's nothing at home" is a sentence I don't allow in my house.
I handle data and subscriptions without being asked. Netflix, the Wi-Fi router, her Spotify. Small things. Maybe ₦15,000 a month combined. But she never has to think about them. That's the point.
I can't stand the heat. I physically cannot function when it's 35 degrees inside. So if I can't take it, how can I let her sit in it? That's fuel money. Every single day when there's no grid power. 5 to 7 litres. Daily. Especially when she's staying over.
We don't do "let's manage." We don't trek to places. It's always a cab or a keke at minimum.
That's not luxury. That's what I consider basic.
Add it up over a year:
Fuel for the generator. Transport every weekend. Groceries restocked every week. Subscriptions renewed every month. Random needs – a drug she needs at midnight, airtime when her line runs out during something important, data when she's on deadline.
That sums up to well over 2 million naira each year. And I'm not talking about MONEY sent as money. I am just referring to basic convenience.
The things that make a woman feel like she's with someone who has capacity. Not wealth. CAPACITY.
Your best bet as a young man is waiting until you're certain that love is ALREADY present before following through with generosity.
So yes, you can find love without money.
But there's a level of love you cannot preserve without financial stability, not because your partner is a bad girl, but simply because this is the fucking planet, and the nuances that make life beautiful, or at least livable, are expensive.
In summary, you'll find love without money as I did all through the years when I was a boy.
That grace is removed when you become a man. U said ur partner? Is she your wife or just a gf? If u r doing all these coz u love the 'lil comfort' that comes with it, it's fine, but if u r doing it coz of her? Then I'm wondering if she's not working to afford her basic needs like subscription, transportation to a job interview, airtime, etc. While u need little funds here and there to make a relationship enjoyable, also make sure she can afford the basics for herself. |

Business › Re: Nigeria Has Surpassed Its OPEC Oil Production Quota by vanvickie(m): 1:14pm On Jun 23 |
KennethOkonkwo: Let's set politics aside and discuss the real economic issues.
When people ask, "Where is the money saved from fuel subsidy removal?" I hope that question is not directed solely at President Tinubu or the Federal Government.
First, it is important to understand that Nigeria still runs a significant budget deficit even after removing fuel subsidies. The savings from subsidy removal alone are nowhere near enough to eliminate the deficit. In other words, removing fuel subsidies does not automatically end government borrowing.
What subsidy removal does is increase the amount of money available in the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC). However, FAAC funds do not belong exclusively to President Tinubu or the Federal Government. Constitutionally, those funds are shared among the Federal Government, state governments, and local governments. The President cannot spend FAAC allocations at will, nor can he dictate how state governors or local government chairmen use their respective shares.
Therefore, if the question is, "What is the subsidy savings being used for?" that question should not be directed only at the Federal Government. It should also be asked of your state governor and your local government chairman, since they receive constitutionally allocated shares of the increased FAAC revenue.
Secondly, even the Federal Government's share of the additional FAAC revenue is insufficient to cover Nigeria's annual budget deficit, which remains substantial. As a result, the country still has to borrow. The difference now is that, in principle, borrowing is no longer primarily intended to finance fuel subsidies or recurrent obligations such as salaries, but rather to support capital and infrastructure projects.
This shift in fiscal policy has contributed to improvements in Nigeria's sovereign credit outlook. Rating agencies such as S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings have upgraded Nigeria's outlook in recent times, partly because of reforms including fuel subsidy removal and exchange-rate liberalization.
Finally, Nigerians should not expect these reforms to produce an immediate and drastic reduction in the prices of goods and services. The more realistic expectation is that they will help stabilize inflation over time, restore macroeconomic stability, and gradually improve purchasing power as the economy adjusts. Economic reforms typically take time before their full benefits are reflected in the cost of living. After all these long write up... U don't think that the effect of subsidy removal should reflect on both the macro and micro economics of Nigeria after 3years? U don't think the dividends I'd supposed to be felt by the common man on the street? Yes, the president does not have full power over the governors and LGA chairman constitutionally, the only power he has over them is to make them defect from their parties to APC so he can win elections.... REST GUY... REST |
