Abagworo leave Anambra alone. I have warned you severally! Stop mastur.batiing with the word Anambra. Leave us alone and face your 'ordinary' state. We Anambrans are for GEJ or nothing. Even if APC gives Mr Okoro their presidential ticket we shall still vote for GEJ 100%..

No amount of false news report can sway our votes from GEJ.

Obiano is 100% for GEJ and so is all of us in Anambra..

GEJ till 2099

TV/MoviesWho Wins Gulder Ultimate Search Tonight? (Pictures) by VAQAXY(op):
By 11pm tonight when the final episode of this year’s edition of Gulder Ultimate Search, Africa’s longest running reality TV programme, would have aired, a new winner would have emerged. One of the four remaining contestants on the show would have found the great General’s Helmet thus bringing an end to a Mission for which over thousands of individuals registered to be a part of.

Of the 14 contestants that were selected from over 40,000 applicants to enter the Aguleri jungle, only four remain. They are Otto Canon, a 25 year old undergraduate, Nne Cosy Joe, a 28 year graduate of Agric Science, Emmanuel Afolabi, a 29 year old undergraduate and 24 year old Chinedu Ubachukwu, also an undergraduate.

For the millions of viewers of Gulder Ultimate Search 11, the anxiety
and excitement over who is crowned the new ultimate champion is fever pitch. However, for the remaining contestants, the journey to the final stage of the show has been long and tortuous.

They have progressed through several phases on this year’s edition; including the precision phase, the survivor phase and the innovation phase. They were also inducted into the Elite Squad of the great General’s Army.

The remaining contestants are also not leaving anything to chance as they have been assessing their fellow contestants’ strengths and weaknesses ahead of an epic battle to locate the helmet.Chinedu said Otto is strong in solving riddles but weak in solving puzzles. Chinedu also pointed out that Emmanuel is not too good with puzzles.

He further revealed that Cosy is better at solving puzzles and not very good with riddles.Emmanuel said he never expected he would be among the four finalists for Gulder Ultimate Search 11.

He also confessed that he was not good with puzzles. Emmanuel however said he’s working on improving his puzzle solving skill. He said: “Over time, I’ve learnt to stay calm, paint a mental picture before I start working, and while I am working with my hands, my head is thinking ahead.”Emmanuel described Chinedu as a proud and arrogant person.

He hinted that these attributes may lead to his downfall. Cosy corroborated Emmanuel’s claims. He said: “Chinedu is erratic and the type of confidence he has may also be suicidal.”Cosy assessed Emmanuel as a contestant who is good with riddles but not with puzzles. Cosy confessed that he can be easily beaten in riddles.

He noted: “They can beat me in riddles. It’s always funny when someone uses his own knowledge to set a question for me and you expect me to get the answer.”Otto also confessed that he was not too good with solving puzzles. Otto’s fate of continuing in Gulder Ultimate Search 11 hangs in the balance as he failed Episode 25’s Code Box task.

The winner of Gulder Ultimate Search 11 will drive home a brand new SUV in addition to the N10 million grand prize money. For the first time in three years, no female contestant will be part of the final search. Samantha Appi, who emerged as the Last Woman Standing was evicted in Episode 25 after failing the Infinity task.

Her performance in the reality TV programme has been described as marvellous and even earned her respect from both her male and female contestants. Being the smallest of the seven female contestants did not deter her.

After emerging the Last Woman Standing, Samatha said she felt very good, adding that she thoroughly enjoyed her stay as a contestant.

Speaking on her achievements despite her small frame, Samatha noted: It’s not really about my size but about my thinking capabilities. And most of the time, my size was my motivation.

People thought I will not be able to do some things because they think I am fragile due to my small frame. But I look at myself and I tell myself, I know I can do this even though people think I can’t do it.”For the first time in the history of Gulder Ultimate Search, the Last Woman Standing will drive home a brand new Ford Eco sport.

This is in addition to the amount that will accrue to her as the fifth placed contestant.Gulder has recorded another first as the beer brand will also give the contestant who emerges as the winner of the on-going Viewers’ Choice a brand new Ford Focus car.

I know you have good intentions but beautification has since started from Head Bridge to Upper Iweka, etc. Obiano is a technocrat who has a very high taste for excellence. The beautification of Zik's junction by Awka road is ongoing. Every open space in Anambra is being covered with grass/flower. Amawbia and Aroma round-abouts has been taken over by the new flyover that is on going while the entire stretch of the road is being widened..

See below what has become of every open space in Anambra and it is still ongoing on other locations around the state..

OreMI22:
We Need Obiano to beautify open spaces in Onitsha begining from the Zik's roundabout on Oguta road by Awka road. Then the roundabout in front of Zik's masoleum on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway by Awka road. If these two roundabouts and many others in Awka and Nnewi are beautified with flowers and fountains like in the picture, they will seriously change the ambiance of Onitsha and the other major cities.

Unfortunately, the Anambra government isn't tech. savvy for anyone there to ever see these picture examples of what the people want their roundabout to look like.

I don't know why some of you can't read between the lines? The airport in question will be on PPP arrangement. What the Anambra state government will put into the project is just the parcel of land which they have already acquired and an access road. The funding is coming from the private investors just like other projects that are ongoing in the state. Read the highlighted part!

While inaugurating the committee, Chief Willie Obiano noted that the committee will provide advisory support on the development and project implementation of the planned Anambra State Cargo/Passenger Airport; review Expressions of Interest (EOI) by private sector parties desirous of investing in the airport project and select the most qualified to work with the state government in setting up and operating the airport.

The process that will see to it being achieved soonest has already been set in motion by Obiano..

ChinoElects:

Furthermore, the committee is to modify the technical architecture , business plan, and recognize those parts of the master plan that cannot be altered; also advise the government of Anambra state on the best options available on the airport project in terms of financing (Private Public Partnership), airport usage. The annoying thing is that 98% of those bikers are not even from Anambra. The producers at Nnewi are already moving toward Tricycle because that is where the economy is moving to.

Just chill you will hear the announcement on the ban very soon because I have seen the report concerning the ban first hand.

ChimaAdeoye:
My people in this thread, I greet you.
On this Okada issue, while we should try to secure people's livelihood, the entire state must not be held back by the interest of very few persons. Who might not even be from Anambra.

The government should have a meeting to advise motorcycle part manufacturers that it intends to move forward. Consequently, 6 months to 9 months grace period should be given. After the period, okada use for commercial transportation in at least the 3 major urban centers of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi should be banned.

Can you compare the present security situation in onitsha now to what was obtainable during Obi's tenure? What exactly did obi do?

Obiano is even mounting back-lit to replace billboards. Headbridge to Upper Iweka that has seen all sorts of street trading has been fenced off and cleared. Even from the view of those pictures you could see no more street loitering nor trading..it is now open view without billboards crisscrossing the environment and all. It can only get better..

OkijaAmaka:

Posters and Billboards ooooooo

Signposts and Banner oooooo

Ban street trading and indiscriminate display of wares outside the shops

PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY: 7:47am On Oct 27, 2014
As at last month Obiano has concluded plans to ban bikers..I am privy to that classified information. I know that any moment from now he will phase it out completely from our major cities except for maybe rural areas. The companies at Nnewi are moving into Keke manufacturing than bike. Again let us consider that 98% of those bikers in Anambra are not Anambrans but migrants from other states around.

OkijaAmaka:
Ye, i dont like like Obi for not banning Okada, he should have banned it but since government is stable lets know whether Obiano or even FG will do the needful.
Besides Obi might have looked into the economic implications of banning okada considering that about 80% of okada and its parts in West Africa are locally produced in Nnewi.
What if he banned the Okada and factories in Nnewi started retrenching, the managements of those coy will accuse him of killing their businesses while workers in those factories will aslo curse him for sending to bed on empty stomach.
The best thing is to summon those manufactueres and tell them the need to move into Keke parts manufacturing because the policy of banning Okada could be in the offing.
Lets not wake and ban Okada, besides am seeing the gradual demise of Okada now in Nigeria because Keke is better and more lucrative. Nobody does hire purchase Okada again but Keke, my brother wanted who will take his bike on hire purchase but the price wasnt encouraging, the person was even persuading him to buy Keke that he will take it on any amount, to show you that the operators are no longer interested even the passengers are become scared of okada
PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY:
You have done well my brother but those pictures are actually old..I think it was before they did the final coating on the road because I took some of those pictures myself. The last picture is not Anambra..that round-about, please knock it off!

Below is the current outlook of that Anambra road you posted..

OreMI22:
Anambra: Light of the nation marching into the future.

PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY:
Those Botswana pics are not bad at all. Its looks like most places in Abuja even Lagos but they are real good. Anambra on the other hand is getting it right because as little as Ngige stayed he made some indelible marks at least on rural roads then came Obi who fired on from there and completed most of the rural area roads. Now comes Obiano who has taken on major urban capital infrastructures, oil and gas development, hospitality, malls etc to making Anambra the first choice investment destination. For the past 16 years from Ngige to Obi and now to Obiano, Anambra has seen holistic development of continuity which has seen most part of the state develop genuinely.

Obiano from all indication has brought great environmental sanity to Anambra particularly Onitsha the heat-beat of the region. If Upper Iweka can this organized, clean and sanitized then Anambra has every reason to aim Dubai, Pretoria and Capetown because they have got the technocrat at the helm of affairs in the state. If you had listened to that video you will understand that money follows ideas and not the other way round..Obiano has got the idea and as a former auditor to Texaco worldwide and a former bank chief he has a grip of what first world development is about and can bring it to bear on Anambra which he is already doing.

OreMI22:
When I praise Chime in Enugu, it is because he had found a way to apply his meager resources into viable projects to transform his state. Not that Enugu was the most developed place one had seen, but you could clearly see he has a modern plan for the place.

Hopefully Obiano will be able to achieve what he dreams about for Anambra state. Anambra indeed has great potentials, but has been a most disorganized state ruled by clueless governor (Except Obi). Governors that most tragically would not accept any form of advise because they believed they knew every subject in the world more than everyone else. It was not a surprise that the state stagnated for so long.

It is good for us to aim for Dubai and perhaps get around Capetown or Pretoria. Although I don't see how Anambra can get enough funds to replicate even Lagos or Abuja talk more of Cape Town. lol... grin
Although I would never admit this to a Botswanan or South African, the truth is that Nigerian cities are third world slums when compared to cities in the Southern Africa region, even such cities as Harare in cash strapped Zimbabwe! The only exceptions are Abuja and some parts of Lagos.

Botswana is not a bad target at all for Anambra. Remember Botswana was amongst the 5 poorest countries in Africa in 1960s, but quickly transformed itself with good governance and great wealth from diamonds to become amongst the top 5 richest people in Africa today!
I have been there and I know even Abuja cannot compete with their cities....especially Gaborone.Nigerians generally have expensive looking private homes than in Botswana, but the general ambiance of being a first world city with good roads and functioning public utilities is felt in Botswana than Nigeria. I am begging you to do your own research on Botswana and see what i am saying. Their hospitals where I had worked can only be achieved anywhere in Nigeria in the year 2050 ,... and i'm not kidding. Ask any Nigerian medical doctor practicing in that country. Some pics of Botswana for your day Sir.
PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY:
You are right but I believe if we can aim higher..say aiming Dubai could land someone between Capetown or Pretoria..lol

So bottom-line is to aim higher so that even if you do not get to that level you can at least attain an enviable height. I believe that is what Obiano had in mind. Already he has kept to that dream by awarding several capital infrastructural projects including the flyovers which I believe is the first set of it, more is likely on its way.

Now listen to this report on how he plans to achieve this feat. Listen between 17th and 18th minutes..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcgoWdUXK-U

OreMI22:
I hope he does. I am only concerned on a feasible ambition based on the available resources. We all want our hometown to look like New York or Atlanta, but can we afford it?

Post pictures of Dubai,South Africa or Saudi Arabia cities and you will see an average city there has multiple flyovers (NoT just 3).

Then look at Botswana, you will see that it has decent cities and uses roundabouts as interchanges. Which is close to something we can afford at this stage. We should aim at reproducing the Botswana example of city planning and we would have got it right. The Dubai example is a little bit phony considering our budget of $700 million dollar a year, with salaries and other issues included in that budget.
PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY:
Ok yea, I have seen the point you are making concerning Botswana. It is a well planned city but I don't know if the whole of the city is that much just like Onitsha or Enugu does not have all the well planned hoods looking like the entire city.

Obiano insisted that funds will not be his constraint, remember he is an accountant and a banker so he knows how to go about it just as he is going now with the infrastructural drive in Awka. He told the team to come up with the best that they should not be constrained by resources or whatever. Dude means business..

OreMI22:
I have a lot of zeal to see a well planned city somewhere in Anambra.
Sometimes we like to copy the wrong examples. Dubai has as much money being spent in it than all Nigeria's annual budget.

Botswana has less money with mainly bungalow but a well planned place that makes it a better place to live than most cities in Nigeria.

Compare the select cities and see how Botswana in spite of having untarred roads in most of the estates, but you could clearly see the entire city is well planned. That is what we hope for Awka.
Other sections of Onitsha and Awka below..

PoliticsRe: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by VAQAXY:
You have made some good points though. Awka is getting Dubai treatment to compete with some of the best cities in Africa not even Nigeria. With the ongoing Greenwood city as the key, it is prime to be a purpose built city. Obiano has assembled the best team to achieve this. He showed them Dubai 2003 and what it became 13 years after. Obiano has a huge dream that can only be compared to what Soludo could have done. And he has not left anyone in doubt as he has since hit the ground to achieve this feat with the number of capital infrastructural projects already ongoing in Awka.

As for Onitsha, aside from the new UN Habitat masterplan, it was a well planned city ab initio when you look at the layout of the city from the googleearth. What Onitsha needs is the continuous maintenance of the infrastructure and greenbelt of the city just as it is happening now. Obiano from all indications has all it takes right now to achieve the next level because he has got the toughness and strictness which he has already brought to bear on his successes so far.

OreMI22:
Exactly Bro!

I hope reputable international city planners are engaged to plan the New Awka Capital city around the massive Greenwood estate at its nucleus.

Our people often just hate planning anything in advance, we just believe in fire brigade adhoc approach when we get to every stage of development, we'll cross the bridge anyhow we can.

However, a close look at Enugu and Abuja, two cities planned well in advance into the future, you'd see the difference with other unplanned albeit wealthier cities such as Port Harcourt. So in essence, a great city isn't just about it's wealth as we are quick to think, it is about making adequate provision for amenities that make life easier and healthier. I know a lot of very wealthy business people who could make billions if they set up outlets in Onitsha, but they cringe just at the mention of the word "Onitsha" because of the general planlessness of the city.

A well planned urban center does matter a lot more than we like to admit.
Take Fegge for instance..I have not seen this sort of well tuned planning and organization elsewhere!
