What is so special about Informatics. I remember during our final year at university they changed our school - from the school of computer science to the school of computer science & informatics. But when you talk about Sublime ( IDE) and algorithms - I get confused.

Google it up . there is a whole Wikipedia article on it. sublime is an environment where code language are written, algorithms are just the simply basic procedure on how the syntax snd binary code works

Let me tell you the best coders or programmers I know are those that can stay awake for like 48hrs when shit hit the fan. If you cannot sleep in the office for like a day or two because the systems are fu.cked down then you've no passion for that shiet.

Those are the guys I want by my side. The guys that can stay sober after 3 days of zero sleep. zero showers. Just lots of f ucking coffee, tea and whatever. And you still keep calm.

I don't remember saying he was a friend. I was CS 2nd yr student - were supposed to look for an internship. My dad took me straight to Telkom Kenya - there was no much mobile then - I was given a white overall and placed under the printing department. That afternoon - we sat there - the whole floor of Teleposta towers - shoving papers to this huge printer that was printing monthly receipts. That printer occupied the entire wing..Teleposta towers is taller than anything in Ghana. In the evening we got summoned to 20th floor - we took a lift- and we were told we had to apply -properly for internship - not use patronage. Long story short - my friend told me this small firm - was looking for interns - I went there and got "hired" - we were being 50 dollars a month. I worked there for 2-3 months -doing pension fund systems.Then I went back - and then lectures went on a strike - and I found myself an intern at UN Nairobi. And by 3rd year I was earning 1,000 dollars !! man those were my best days of my life. Living in hostels - and yet earning 1,000 dollars - was freaking crazy. I use to party and screw them girls like crazy...until I meet my current wife. Soon they jacked my salary to 1,500 dollars...and I bought my house in Nairobi as 24yrs old...after being forced by some kenyan women to save in UN Sacco. They literally dragged me and had me signed off like 3/4 of my salary to the SACCO.

Bill gates already was working for microsoft - before he learnt anything in Harvard.This long story. But when I got to the firm I was interning in. I found this very smart kenyan. He had chosen to forgo medicine degree and had basically written the pension fund management - in oracle forms. I think at some point - after 2yrs - he decided to go to med school - and we inherited his things. Our job in those 3 months was to convert his oracle application to MS SQL Server and Windows forms. We did that - and I recall we spent many nights in many insurance firms. Most pension funds then were run by Insurance company - and in Kenya - Alexander Forbes had just come on. The highlight was when Alexander Forbes came to us to build their system. I left after 2 months.

Yes, I can teach you more about informatic, computing goes beyond using Oracle engine, and hyper test language that every Nick and dick can learn online. you need way more than that, you need to have the technical and managerial skills as well. no company will place their life on you simply because you play with code by working with sublime or some other borrowed application, figuring how algorithms works within space and time goes beyond learning one or more language. An essential organisations will not put his life on that belt by allowing you to install such an important software package. . you are just student on an attachment as you say. so go and lie to your fellow Kenyans , I am not buying this crap

Lie to yourself. My first attachment or internship was to build a pension fund management system. I installed it in many pension funds including Alexander Forbes - the South African giant in these things. I was a 2nd-year computer science major student then.

Please understand the difference btw social security and pension fund.

Kenya pensions funds are under RBA - Retirement Benefits Authority.

Social security is social - for helping informal sector - nothing serious. Definitely not a pension fund.

well , as a computer science on an attachment, you are not allowed to be a developer perse but a learner. you are there to learn what is practical in job market, you don't install, you participate in the installing that is what student on attachment does. unless the film you are sent to do your attachment is very backward and remote to the extent of you knowing more than the organization . so stop making a ridiculous lie. Ghanaian are way smarter.. I have work with many student who study informatic and I know how it works

Your pension cum social security is mere 9B Ghana cedis - that is less than our social security. Don't talk about the pension. That concept is too difficult for you. In S S Africa pension scene - we have South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Namibia. Nigeria is there just because of it's population.
