Maybe the soil did not get hot enof bc they did not use enof dry grass. If the heat did not penetrate deep enof, the unheated parts will soon reinfect the heated parts

Thanks so much for this info

what you have to understand is that manure especially chicken manure is a plant stressor if used ignorantly, that is why it burns and kills crops, the manure you mixed with soil and poured into nylon bags will generate more heat and more stress to the young plant, the way to aviod this is transplant with normal soil then apply manure in 1-2 weeks time by then the roots are well established

Thanks boss.

What if I plant on heap directly and add manure 1-2 wks after. The problem will be wetting.

But my tomatoes I applied manure on the heap first then after like 3days I
now planted them and they are doing well.

What if I allow some days to pass after filling the nylon with manure + soil and thereafter transplant the pepper into it, will it still have same issue of stressing and burning them.

Another observation NEVER transplant in the morning.

Also the plant without manure application on the bed regenerates very fast without much issue after transplanting them in nylon that contain manure + soil.

Thanks once again

@Okoroemeka

I observed that transplanting pepper into manure nursery nylon mixed with soil takes time to regenerate compared with using ordinary soil.

What is the cause of that

that topped or pruned pepper plant will produce 30-40% more pods than the unpruned plant,we can easily see the beginning of numerous branches that will translate to even more numerous production.

From what I have learned so far two things are important

1. Use manure for your nursery and apply manure to your planting holes before transplanting

2. Top your pepper or prun it you will have strong and more quantity of pepper to harvest

Pruning undisputed..... Check the difference!

Pruned and Unpruned. Always make sure you prun your pepper it can't be overemphasized.

Ok. But the nursery bed shud be specially treated by piling up dry grass on it and burning. U don't want to nurse plants for weeks and later find out that they have root knot nematodes or so.

Sure if you check my earlier message that is the first thing I did, burn fire of the portion used for the nursery bed.

But some do experience RKN despite burning the portion to be used for the nursery what do you think is the cause

The farm was solarized after it was burnt with fire.

I guess that should suffice. I welcome any other method as well.

Tomatoes Mona F1 Update pictorial view.....

1. While still in nursery bed @ 4 wks ( I have some opv 40 seedlings that I saw in my pepper nursery I broadcasted on the 9th Feb they are 6 wks old)

2. About 100 seedlings where transplanted on Heaps with manure mixed in the planting hole while 25 seedlings where transplanted on bed without manure mixed in the planting hole (I want to see d difference both opv and hybrid with and without manure.

3. Tomatoes in nursery nylon on heap and after been transplanted on head and on the bed.

4. The height while in the grow nylon and after the grow nylon is removed ( You will see the rooting nature)

5. The tool used to dig the heap and bed open also included. It was a wonderful tool a must have

I guess this may help

What is drip method? Or how is it done?

Drip method is also called furrow or in lay man term, you draw straight line on your bed and put your seeds in the hole and cover lightly with sand.

Boil water, let it be hot very well add some red oil to it and pour it on your pepper let it stay for like 10 minutes. Drench the pepper and spread under sun, even if there's no sun spread inside room it will dry.

Wow wow, very insightful. This means a lot to me now.

Thanks a million times

Please I would also like to get that exact portion you pruned.

Just use your fingers and pinch off the top node or head. It will start forming other nodes or heads (Y)

The area to pinch off

I think I got this pix from ogbongenet thread on pepper that talked about pruning.

Mehn! This is work. Filling into pure water sachet will be stress not to talk of transferring on heap.

Why not transplant straight to heap from bed nursery?
Any thing I need to know please?

Thanks for the concern bro.
Some1 has expressed this concern as well, check my post above to see the reason for that.
But honestly is fun doing it. No stress at all

Pruning undisputed...... The Champ!

I pruned some pepper while on bed. I did it on both beds. I saw it form another head of Y making two Y or two heads on a single plant while the remaining plants still have just 1 head or Y, they were also shorter and ticker.

But the one with manure is the best #Stronger #Thicker #Shorter. Manure all the way!

still transplanting on pure water nylon

Heap making have also started today.

May Jehovah bless my hustle

You could have just transplanted them to heaps. You are already stressing the plants and yourself by with the nursery. My experience in pepper farming is subsistence but I have full blown Benue pepper farmers around my factory.Heap and transplant, please

Thanks.

The rain is not yet defined planting on heap will require me wetting all plant in all d heap in a vast portion of land plus the heat that now na real die.

Buy if in a nylon you will manage it well in a small portion with adequate water. They will continue their growth there, I will have the luxury to transplant anytime I want

Thanks boss. I have filled about 250 pure water sachet with sand but without manure I will fill another set with manure and transplant in twos per bag.

Can I prune pepper while on the heap or must it be done on single grow bags

After much deliberation I finally took a decision.

I decided to transplant on the about 250 sachets without manure I had already.

Before you transplant to make the whole process easy do the following

I. Wet the nursery nylon already with the sand. After transplanting you don't have to wet again it also makes transplanting easy

II. Use your finger or stick that is not too tiny maybe the thickness of your finger to form hole at the middle of the nylon where you will deep the seedlings into and cover

I will post the practical pix later.

These are pix of the transplanted pepper and the difference between the two beds.

The bed with manure have broader leaves compared with the one without manure.

Manure all the way no contest at all. I finally see the work of manure

I've been so preoccupied with series of farm activities; from my goats farming to kuroiler monthly production at 4weeks, to my newly foreign turkey projects. grin cool

The whatsapp line has been deactivated jare. Got loads of people taking advantage of the line. Also stopped people from coming over, learnt the hard way cry cry. Nevertheless, I'm still very much in the tomato business. Setting up one around Mowo - Ikoga soonest.

I'm here to learn from you jare. Best wishes.

I want to learn tomatoes how can you put me through. The first one I did platinum yielded massively I did it between Aug and November but the leave started dying harvested some tomatoes anyways.

I even created a trend for it but due to busy schedule I could not continue with update

I will appreciate your help.

The popular one is furadan. Its sold less than 1.5k per kg. Its tiny granules like ewedu seeds.
When you finished dressing your bed, broadcast it same way u broadcast ewedu seed. Slightly incorporate it in by using rake, then wet it after or before applying your seed.

Thanks for these insight
