okoroemeka: nematodes maybe difficult to treat if the crops are already infected, that is why soil treatment is done before planting, but you can still use wormforce and hope for the best, also the survival of a farm starts from the seeds, that's why we used avenir pepper as the foundation stock for our yellow scorpion and red scorpion varieties because it is resistant to nematodes of any type Thanks boss. I will try d worm force. Also how can 1 identify nematode before transplanting because some1 told me it was already infected before I transplanted but I checked d root before transplanting except the ones in nursery nylon |

okoroemeka: we have planted only the yellow variety for three production cycles or 3 years and the yield, colour, flavor, aroma, fruit size and high disease resistance was consistent that why we are going to full scale production,we noticed at the second cycle some plants will have yellow fruit but will eventually turn red when fully riped so we selected carefully only ones that remains yellow after fully riped and did that for another 3 times before breeding out the offenders,we did 200 grams because we need 5000 seedlings and a monastery nearby also needs some couple of thousands.. wow. ..great job. keep it bro |

Edibleskit: Please update this thread. I want to know if you spray pepper with insecticide or fungicide. If you use any chemicals what chemicals do you use and at what point.
Also I want to plant pepper this month, is it adviceable to plant pepper at this period. Am trying to plant ahead of December. Thanks I use redforce and Zforce as fungicides and attache but later switched to Lara force as insecticides/pesticide. Just look for any good fungicides and pesticides. You can start spraying 1 month after transplanting and @ 2 wks interval though some spray at every week |

Remember that the maize will be harvested and give way for the pepper and d pepper will give way for Cocoyam\Ugboma or Elegede after d life span is over also d Okro will give way for d pepper I guess. Since Cocoyam leave will be large while together u can bend or cut off the Cocoyam leave it will grow again.

veggieman2be: My pepper update @ 3 months and 20 days. 1 stand already got a ripped fruit ..... We will also talk about space maximizing or utility where you have additional crop e.g Okro, Maize or Cassava on some heap on or bed especially if you want e.g pepper to cover your land portion but don't want to divide it. It will be an open debate and how practicable is it. Am doing it for the first time Pix will be sent on the ones I have on some of my pepper heap Thanks I have Cocoyam on the pepper heap pepper will go and give way for it to keep growing. When the lCocoyam leaves are too wide while still 2geda with d pepper I can either bend them or cut them off later they will grow. I also have Okro and maize maize will go and pepper will keep producing. What do u guys think Scroll up to see the pictures including the ripening pepper stand |

ideepaul: I still believe Padma f1 and gahmar F1 from zwaan yield is better than this! The Padma I am doing a trial of about 100 crops is doing very well so far Yes Padma F1 and Platinum F1 (I planted it last year during dry season the yield is amazing imagine having like 80 - 120 fruit on a stand) from East West are high yielding variety but I don't know much about Gahmar from Thai Agro that their marketer have told me about. It was Platinum F1 I used to open this thread. I will post the pix if I have the time |

bizzibodi: Till d soil make raised ridges, wet d beds..planted d seeds & cover with fronds. When u say planted the seeds you mean to say you broadcasted it right. When pepper or other extracted seeds are not well prepared and stored it can cause the seed not to sprout. Also make sure you buy seed from tested and trusted seed dealer or seller. Why not buy improved or high breed seed next time Thanks |

bizzibodi: Why do I plant pepper & it fail to germinate is there a better method?do I have to soak it in warm water? If is high breed you need to break the dormancy by soaking in warm water over night. You also need to check the expiration date on the sachet always make sure is a year or two ahead before expiration. Give us update if is high breed and the date on the pack and what variety is it |

gabbysegzy: well-done sir , but does it necessary to put it inside the pure water nylons before transferring it to the heaps after 25 days? Not necessary bro but very nice if u can do it because from the bed if u transfer to nylon it will help you manage water and time then when rain is stable u can move it to heap but if u move it straight from bed to heap you will use more water and spend more time watering and if d weather is harsh it will burn your pepper just as many farmers experienced |
