Good Evening Fellow Farmers.
I Have good news for you all
For those that need pepper seedling ( Benin Republic variety) for start-up or those behind schedule because preparing pepper bed now will enter dry season except you want dry season farming.
The good part is that 80% will start bearing fruit within a month isn't that wonderful.
Chat me up on wasapp for more details on pricing and packaging.
Thanks

@ veggieman2be if it's a newly transplanted pepper, then caterpillars might @ work in ur pepper farm, you can spray with fighter
If it's a fully grown pepper plant, maybe at it's productive or fruiting stage, then termite might probably be d bad guy running affairs there.. grin
Is newly transplanted

the clarification you need is planning your farm from the beginning to work with hose and pump,if the land needs ridges then the holes must be done on top of the ridges but if the soil is a well draining type then it can be done straight on the ground without any further preamble, this are the pics of two farms we have now ,the grown one is on one acre while the smaller ones are on half acre all irrigated with hose.
Thank you Sir. But I can't see any hose running through or will it be introduced later
Thanks

They're all effective if u use them well. Generally, u don't just make use of 1 pesticide over and over. Use at least 2 or 3 with different MOA (modes of action). That way, pests and diseases won't get use to them. Laraforce is a pyrethroid insecticides. Other members of that family includes cypermethrin, deltamethrin, tefluthrin etc. See a huge list of insecticide moa here: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi121

It is better to combine Zforce with a systemic fungicide like hexaconazole, strobilurin etc. Zforce is just a protectant fungicide - it protects uninfected leaves.
Thanks bro. I really appreciate this info

if you must use hose then you will plan to use the hole system for good water retention,1 inch hose #11,000 naira,3/4 hose #9,000 k,you must have generator in case power fails, fuel #1,000 to water one acre at a time, make available contingency money in case borehole pump fails.
Really. Is setting up irrigation system for an acre this cheap. Or am I missing something that's a total of #19,000 excluding fuel.
I need more clarification
Thanks

no the ants will be farming on the aphids.. cyperforce will solve this problem.. but I know of a organic solution that is better.. better act fast.. aphids will destroy the foliage of your plant If you dont..

oga that is aphids attack on your farm .. you can see the younger leaves are folding..

you can see the similarities on how the leaves are folding with the picture I'll post below..

and I'm sure by now.. you should be seeing black ants in large numbers on some of your pepper plants
Thank you bro.
I haven't really observed black ants on my farm except on d nursery bed (small ants) but on the heap where I transplanted the pepper no black ants.

Is the black ants "aphids"
Thanks

Op have you to not finished harvesting the tomatoes? No pictures still.
Tomatoes usually takes 3 months before harvesting.
The local tomatoes where broadcasted on bed on the 9th of Feb while the hybrid Mona F1 was nursed in pure water nylon on the 24th so harvest should from 9th of May.

Note this is the second project on my tomatoes farm trend the first has long been harvested but then no time to give any update I planted P701 then.

that depends on your market.. both local opv and hybrids.. grows well, if well managed.. I get this sneaky suspicion local opvs are more resistant to insect attacks compared to hybrids.. while hybridd are more resistant to bacteria attacks..
that's just what I've observed on my plants so far
Thanks bro

on my experience 2 things that I know will make your plant leaves to shrink

1) bacteria wilt.. g
first sign of bacteria wilt you'll noticed are the younger leaves shrinking

2) whiteflies, aphids, mites
when they infect your plant with their virus.. you'll notice the plant foliage drying I.e the leaves shrinking and flowers aborting in the process..

if you can atleast manage 800 to 1000 pepper plants you're off to a good start
The 800 - 1000 pepper plant that will be a good start if well manages is it local, opv or hybrid

When should someone start treating his plant

like my fellow Farmer rightly said that the answers to your questions is in the thread, but one thing you have to understand is that one plot is small for a pepper farm,it is not a complicated crop to grow like cucumbers but it takes time and space, the only two stubborn points to be wary of in pepper farming is viral/bacterial leaf shrinking disease and immature pod shedding, there are other pitfalls and potholes along the road but they are easily managed with good maintenance,a successful pepper farmer is a proactive individual that plans ahead,by this time his farm should be flowering and fruiting already so to utilize the rains and high price,90-100 days is a long time to wait especially if you are broke and hungry, pepper farming required an unwavering clear focus on target and the mindset to believe in yourself.

What can be done to tackle bacterial leaf shrinking.
Thanks
