Your documents shows your car is registered more than a year. In some situations just try to keep off and use instinct also.  lipsrsealed

Are you saying that once i renew my papers i.e after one year,i could drive around town ? Even flaunt my ride before the customs ? undecided

No i did not say you should flaunt your ride, i believe you won't do that because investigation can still reveal things. But what i mean is that your car will not be seen as Toks again after a year and you can drive with no fear. Thanks

@ yodee, i answered your questions already. Thanks.
Autos / Re: Don't Get Caught With Counterfeit Vehicle Documents! by vehcldocs: 11:53pm On Oct 25, 2008
@Yodee

As you have not answered my question already, i glanced through your thread and realised that your car had been registered and used for over a year, i think i'm correct. Do not be deceived my brother, any car age above 10 or so can not legally come into the country. This is the reason they are shipped to cotonou and smuggled into the country, so any paper accompanying such vehicle comes the way the vehicle enter the country. I mean the custom paper/duty is arranged for the vehicle for registration purpose. Ok, can you figure out why they are shipped to cotonou and not directly to Nigeria Port?

Now listen very carefully, if you try to get another custom papers/duty it will still be as thesame as the previous papers used for the registration. The situation would have been different if the car age is within the accepted age by the Federal Government. My advicce for you is to keep off the custom officers for sometime, i think after a year or when you start renewing your papers you should be free from them. Please do not waste your money!

Finally vehicles from cotonou are as legal as those one from Nigeria port if the age is within the accepted age range. What you need to do is to pay your custom duty accordingly to the Government. Thanks for assimilating this fact.

Sorry for my absence, i got Computer problems and i do not like going to Cafe.

olu-romeo:

please now that Govt. has place a ban on 8-10 years old cars, is it possible for me to still buy honda halla 94 model and still get papers that will keep police,vio,customs off my back. What papers will i need to get these.

You will get papers that will keep Police and VIO off your back but, customs i'm not so sure. It depends on how your dealer get it into the country. But let not deceive each other if it is older than 10years, it is illegal to get it into the country. It is simply called smuggling. Nevertheless, many of older cars are getting in everyday, my advice for you is just to keep off the custom officers for sometime. Thanks.

big father:

@Poster.
I would like to confirm if it is necessary for me to go to Abuja to do a change of ownership for a vehicle brought from there ? undecided
Some guy told me this.

YES. The guy is correct, you need to go to Abuja if the car was registered there. Thanks.

GET GENUINE VEHICLE DOCUMENTS!!!

When you purchase a vehicle, it is very important to make a PROPER and GENUINE documentation of such vehicle. This makes you the LEGITIMATE owner of the vehicle you bought with your hard-earned money. Regarding our experiences in VEHICLE LICENCE OFFICE we found out that though vehicle owners wanted proper and genuine documentaion but ended up with COUNTERFEITS. In some cases, such vehicles got STOLEN and can never be RETRIEVED again due to improper documentation. In another case, our Vehicle Inspection Officers ( VIO) got such vehicle apprehended for counterfeit documents.

In our office we are set out to make sure that every vehicles in Lagos are genuinely registered and renewed. If you just bought a vehicle and need to register or need to to renew your documents the proper way, you just call on us.  You do not even need to bother yourself going from pillars to posts, our officers will come down to your various offices with their ID CARDS to pick up and get you genuine documents.

It is STRESS free
It is RISK free
It is COUNTERFEIT free
