A 35-year-old man, who was arrested for sleeping with his teenage daughter for two years, has blamed it on his inability to have a child with his wife. .

Vanguardngr reports that the suspect, Michael Igbaniba, was arrested after his 15-year-old Junior Secondary School 2 daughter reported the matter at the Iso Koko Police Division in Agege, Lagos, over the weekend. .

It was gathered that the suspect had the child out of wedlock. He, however, went to pick her from her mother after getting married to another woman without having any more children, on the advice of his friends and relatives. .

Barely had she settled in her new home located on 222 Olaniyi Street, New Oko-Oba in Abule-Egba, than her father started sleeping with her. According to her, “initially, he said he would stop paying my school fees if I refused to sleep with him or if I told anyone. .

I reluctantly allowed him because of my love for education, until I could not bear it anymore and also because I was ashamed to reveal it to anybody because he is my father.”

The victim was discovered to have been pregnant at a point but the pregnancy aborted with the assistance of her father. She was said to have reported the issue of the abortion to her church Pastor, but was stopped from going to church by her father. .

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the crime, saying: “I did it because I wanted more children. I was advised by friends to bring her to live with me and my wife, because of our inability to have a child since we got married. .
.
By the time she came to live with us, my wife still did not get pregnant. The same friends advised me to sleep with my daughter, that my wife would get pregnant in the process.”

The court has ordered for the remand in prison custody of a 63-year old man, Demola Williams, who was caught having sex with his neighbour’s 11-year old daughter in Surulere, Lagos.

The incident happened at Clegg Street at Surulere, Lagos, where they reside.

Police source said that the embattled Williams allegedly lured the victim into his apartment when the victim’s parents were not around and defiled her. The man reportedly confused the victim, removed her pant and forcefully penetrated her. In the process, he inflicted injury on her private part and she bled profusely because of forceful penetration.

The act could not be hidden because of the injury and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment where the doctor reportedly confirmed that she was raped.

The matter was first reported to the police in the area who arrested William and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Command, Lagos. He was detained at the Command for interrogation. The police after investigation found him culpable and charged him to court for the alleged offence.

When the man was arraigned, the prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, informed the court that it was a case of defilement and asked the court to make an order for the report of the DPP to ascertain where the matter will be determined.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, denied him bail and ordered his remand in custody. The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 12th November, 2018. It was gathered that the matter will be transferred to the High Court if the DPP confirms the rape allegation against him.

A 20-year-old lady, Amina Hassan, on Tuesday dragged her father, Adamu Hassan, before a Sharia Court at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over his refusal to allow her marry the man she loves.

The girl, who lives with her grandmother on Bashama Road, Tudun Wada, Kaduna, said through her lawyer, Ado Ali, that she wants the court to order her father to marry her off to her suitor.

The complainant added that she had attained marriage age and wants to settle down with the man she loves, but her father had refused to assent to it.

“We want the court to order her father to marry her off to her heartthrob” (sic), her lawyer said in court.

He also prayed that if the father remains adamant, the court should serve as the girl’s guardian and marry her off to the man she loves.

Ali said he had made attempts to convince the father to soften his stand, to no avail. According to the counsel, the father is withholding his blessing because the suitor has no regard for him.

The girl’s counsel, however, prayed the court to grant the two parties two weeks to sort things out and reach an agreement.

The defendant’s counsel, Nasir Abdullahi, also agreed with the submission of the prosecution counsel for the court to give them time to resolve the issue.

The Judge, Malam Dahiru Lawal, noted that even though the father had the right to assess his daughter’s suitors, he has no right to force anyone on her.

He, therefore, ordered the defendant’s lawyer to present the father in court on October 29, for further hearing.

A man, Mr. James Adida, has been arrested after he went to a popular church and stole phones while the congregation closed their eyes during a prayer session.

Source reports that the incident happened on Sunday at Excess Power of God Church located at Ipaja area of Lagos.

One of the victims, Chinasa Akanazu, went to the church for service with her two phones and kept them inside her bag by her side during the service. The suspect, Adida, was also in the church, pretended to have come for service and sat beside Chinasa during the service even though he had another motive for being in the church that day.

When it was time for prayers, it was gathered the presiding Pastor directed the congregation to close their eyes and go deep in prayer over their problems. Both the victim, Chinasa and Adida closed their eyes as directed by the pastor. However, in the middle of the prayer, Adida opened his eyes while Chinasa was still praying with her eyes closed. He opened her bag, stole her two android phones and escaped from the church.
When Chinasa eventually opened her bag, she did not see her phones and she raised alarm which made the church security to go after Adida who had almost escaped from the church premises and they recovered the phones. He was then handed over to the police for his conduct in the church.

Source scooped at the Police station, Adida confessed that he did not go to the church for prayers but was there to steal phones and sell them in order to raise some money to solve his personal problems.
He was later charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for stealing in the place of worship and remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos.
It gathered that the incident shocked the members of the church as they no longer close their eyes completely during prayer sessions.
