PoliticsAt 66, Abiodun Has Become Reference Point For Responsible Governance - Okubadejo by Vibrant007(op): 7:50am On May 29
The Ogun State Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Hon. Oladapo Abdulrahman Okubadejo, has paid glowing tribute to Governor Dapo Abiodun, CON, on the occasion of his 66th birth anniversary, describing him as a visionary leader, reformer and statesman whose administration has continued to redefine governance in the state.

Okubadejo, in a statement issued on Friday, said Governor Abiodun’s life and leadership had become “a shining reference point in purposeful governance, courage in leadership and unwavering commitment to public good.”

According to him, the governor’s 66th birthday presents not just an opportunity to celebrate age, but a moment to reflect on “the remarkable journey of a statesman whose leadership has continued to deepen public confidence in government through prudence, vision and compassion.”

He noted that under Governor Abiodun’s leadership, Ogun State has witnessed steady transformation across key sectors of the economy through strategic infrastructure renewal, fiscal reforms, economic expansion, investment drive, industrial development and people-oriented governance.

IslamEid-ul-adha: Okubadejo Tasks Muslims On Love, Sacrifice, National Cohesion by Vibrant007(op): 10:24pm On May 26
The Otunba Tunwase of Ijebu, Otunba Oladapo Abdulrahman Okubadejo, has extended heartfelt felicitations to Muslim faithful in Akile Ijebu, Ogun State and Nigeria at large on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

Okubadejo described the annual Islamic festival as a sacred season of reflection, sacrifice, obedience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, urging Muslims to continually uphold the virtues of faith, love, peace, tolerance and compassion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

In a goodwill message released on Tuesday, he stated that Eid-ul-Adha remains one of the most significant periods in the Islamic faith, as it reminds believers of the importance of unwavering trust in Allah and the need for selflessness in service to humanity.

“As Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, I join faithful in Akile Ijebu, Ogun State and beyond in giving gratitude to Almighty Allah for the grace to witness another glorious season of sacrifice and devotion,” he said.

“As a proud Muslim and son of Akile Ijebu, this celebration holds deep spiritual significance for me. It is a moment for sober reflection, renewed faith and commitment to the values of humility, sacrifice, unity and compassion which Islam teaches us.”

He called on Muslims to use the festive period to pray fervently for peace, stability and economic prosperity in Ogun State and Nigeria, noting that the country requires collective prayers, unity and patriotism to overcome its present challenges.

He further urged residents of Akile Ijebu and the people of Ogun State to continue supporting the developmental vision of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration, stressing that the government remains committed to implementing policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of the people and strengthen the state’s economy.

Okubadejo also appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, particularly those blessed with resources, to remember the less privileged during the celebration, saying the essence of Eid-ul-Adha lies in love, sacrifice and extending kindness to humanity.

“Eid-ul-Adha teaches us the priceless lessons of sacrifice, obedience and generosity. Therefore, beyond the celebration, we must continue to show love to one another, support the vulnerable and work together for the peace and progress of our communities,” he added.

Finally, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to Ogun state Governor prayed that the Almighty Allah would accept the sacrifices and acts of worship of Muslim faithful, while granting enduring peace, divine blessings and abundant prosperity to Akile Ijebu, Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

PoliticsThe Okubadejo Phenomenon: Excellence, Influence And Service Beyond Public Office by Vibrant007(op): 12:43pm On May 08
There are public officials who occupy office and there are those who gradually become institutions within the very systems they serve. In Ogun State, one of such figures is Hon. Oladapo Abdul-Rahman Okubadejo, a financial expert whose influence today extends far beyond the walls of government offices and fiscal policy meetings.

Hon. Okubadejo, to many, is a technocrat with an uncommon grasp of economic management. To many young people, widows, market women and struggling families touched through the activities of the Idera Pathfinder Foundation, he is a quiet benefactor whose interventions arrive without fanfare. And in his native Ijebu landscape, he is regarded as one of the defining sons of his generation, serving as a bridge between privilege and responsibility.

Since his appointment by Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2019, Okubadejo has occupied one of the most demanding positions in the Ogun State cabinet: Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser. The timing itself was daunting. Nigeria’s economy was fragile, subnational governments were under severe fiscal pressure and many states struggled beneath mounting debt obligations and shrinking revenues.

Yet, within this difficult climate, Ogun State began to chart a different path.

Behind much of the state’s economic coordination sits the calm but methodical influence of Hon. Okubadejo. He belongs to that shrinking class of public servants who prefer measurable outcomes to political theatrics.

Over the years, Ogun has ultimately strengthened its reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost industrial destinations. Investors now view the state as economically stable, strategically positioned and fiscally disciplined. Revenue optimisation improved. Confidence in the state’s economic direction deepened. Infrastructure financing became more coordinated. Developmental priorities appeared less arbitrary and more structured.

While governance is always a collective enterprise, few close observers of Ogun’s economic trajectory will deny that Okubadejo has become one of the principal architects behind the state’s fiscal recalibration, under the leadership of the very amiable Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON

Despite these, Hon. Okubadejo has not disconnected himself from the realities of ordinary people.

In many cases, power creates distance. For him, it appears to have deepened responsibility.

Through the Idera Pathfinder Foundation, numerous interventions have been recorded across educational support programmes, empowerment initiatives, humanitarian assistance, youth development schemes and relief efforts for vulnerable residents. The foundation itself reflects a philosophy that is absent in contemporary public life: the belief that influence must translate into impact.

There are individuals who wait until retirement before reconnecting with their roots. Okubadejo chose a different route.
In Ijebu-Ode and adjoining communities, his fingerprints can be found in developmental facilitation efforts, community-focused projects, strategic interventions and support mechanisms aimed at improving local living conditions. Beyond the politics often associated with constituency influence, his approach has largely revolved around creating sustainable value for the people who raised him and the environment that shaped his formative years.

This explains why many within the Ijebu socio-cultural space speak of him with unusual warmth.

Among the honours that now trail his name is the prestigious title of Otunba Tunwase of Akile-Ijebu, conferred on him by the late Awujale of Ijebuland, HRM, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona. That recognition was not merely ceremonial. In the deeply symbolic traditional institution of Ijebuland, titles of such weight are reserved for individuals whose lives reflect service, honour, leadership and enduring contribution to communal progress.

And perhaps that is where the true essence of Dapo Okubadejo’s public journey resides.

Not merely in the figures balancing neatly on fiscal reports. Not solely in policy frameworks or investment memoranda. But in the human consequences of leadership; the students whose futures received support, the communities remembered, the opportunities created for young people and the deliberate attempt to ensure that governance retains a human face.

He is a competent economist and on several occasions, he has been described as a dependable administrator. Many young professionals see a mentor. Large sections of his community simply see one of their own who did not forget home after attaining prominence.

And in the final analysis, that may well become the most enduring part of his legacy.

CrimeQuestions Mount Over Alleged Money Laundry Proxy Share Acquisition At Living Tru by Vibrant007(op): 7:22pm On Mar 22
A quiet but deeply troubling Money Laundering financial controversy is unfolding around Living Trust Mortgage Bank Plc, which appears to soon wake up the entire Financial Industry, Capital Market operators as well as financial regulators within the next couple of days. Sources with direct knowledge of the matter confirm that the Nigeria’s Security apparatus has submitted a detailed preliminary investigation report to the Central Bank of Nigeria, specifically to the Office of the Director, Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department.

Notably, individuals linked to the transaction reportedly include serving directors of Living Trust Mortgage Bank, raising concerns about fiduciary breaches and insider facilitation of this unwholesome grand style money laundry. If unchecked could erode confidence in the institution and the wider mortgage banking sector. And this distinction brings it squarely into the domain of financial crime risk and regulatory breach. This is not just a corporate misdemeanor, it is a test of Nigeria’s financial system Integrity, the implications are profound.

Perhaps the most disturbing element of the investigation is the allegation of covertly Osun State resources have been deployed directly to finance private shareholding ambitions in a regulated financial institution using an Ibadan-based small private school as a conduit pipe for the money laundry financial.

At the heart of the investigation lies close to a billion naira share acquisition of 112,181,145 units purchased in the name of a relatively small private entity: Deril Academy Limited.

Deril Academy Limited, based in Ibadan and reportedly operating a modest school with fewer than 300 students, has emerged as a central player in a transaction that raises fundamental questions:

How does a small educational institution that barely survive in its education sector, is able to fund a hundreds-of-millions-of-naira equity acquisition in a regulated financial institution under CBN watch?

Who are the insiders Board members behind this alleged investment? And more importantly, who are the insider directors fingered in facilitating or encouraging the funneling of public funds to private equity acquisition, under money laundry act, within the Mortgage Bank?

This is a pattern that financial crime experts would immediately recognize: Proxy Shareholding and Beneficial Concealment (PSBC). This raises serious civil and criminal questions under Nigeria’s antimoney laundering framework by CBN.

This goes beyond hostile takeovers. It touches on potential violations of fiduciary care wherein serving Directors of the Bank are involved in this alleged shady money laundry shareholding acquisition shenanigans at same Bank where they sit on the Board. This is clear alleged abuse of insider access within a regulated bank. This is grave underground disaster for any financial institution!!!

It has always been the duty of the Central Bank of Nigeria, to assess the funds to be used in obtaining a banking license, recapitalizing a bank and for the acquisition of majority stake in a financial institution, to prevent investment of illicit funds in the control of a financial institution, towards also ensuring the fitness of persons owning financial institutions.

The Central Bank of Nigeria was widely commended for its efforts against money laundering, leading to the exit of Nigeria from the FATF grey list in October 2025.

While it is our understanding that the investigation report of the respected security agency has been sent to the Central Bank, it remains to be seen, whether Directors of a financial institution, found to be facilitating the transfer of public fund for private purposes will be allowed to continue with the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s financial system depends on one constant: TRUST. The public is watching.
The market is listening. And now, all eyes are on the regulator.

Will there be consequences OR silence?

The blockbuster final is scheduled to hold at the Abusi Edumare Academy stadium, where both teams will battle for supremacy after an intense tournament that kicked off on the 10th of January, 2026.

The competition, facilitated by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ijebu North Local Branch, was fully sponsored by the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo-designate, Alhaji Abiodun Olawale Lawal, popularly known as ABINUGBOLA.

Five quarters of Ijebu Igbo – Oke Sopen, Oke Agbo, Ojowo, Atikori and Japara, participated in the tournament, which adopted a group-phase format at the preliminary stage.

At the end of the group phase, Japara bowed out after finishing with the lowest points, while Oke Sopen, Oke Agbo, Ojowo and Atikori advanced to the semi-finals.

In the semi-final matches, Oke Sopen defeated Ojowo 3–1 to secure a place in the final, while Oke Agbo edged Atikori via penalties to set up a thrilling final encounter with Oke Sopen.

The third-place match saw Ojowo overcome Atikori with a narrow 1–0 victory, earning the Olokine boys the bronze position.

The prize structure for the competition, as announced by the Local Organizing Committee, includes a cash reward of ₦500,000 for the winner, ₦300,000 for the runner-up and ₦200,000 for the second runner-up.

Commendations have continued to pour in for the Local Organising Committee, chaired by Ogbeni Abolaji Adeniyi Sobowale, who also serves as the NYCN Coordinator for Ijebu North Local Branch.

Speaking with journalists after the third-place match on Sunday, Ogbeni Sobowale said the competition was initiated to discover football talents and strengthen unity among youths in Ijebu Igbo and across Ijebu North.

According to him, football remains one of the strongest tools for youth engagement and social cohesion.

He expressed deep appreciation to the sponsor, Alhaji Lawal, describing his support as pivotal to the success of the competition.

“Many times, great ideas die at the planning stage due to lack of funding. I sincerely appreciate the sponsor for believing in this vision. Whatever success this competition has recorded is a direct result of his unwavering support. I have no doubt that his selection as the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo is well deserved,” Sobowale said.

He also acknowledged the contributions of other members of the organising committee and the Ijebu North Football Association for their roles in ensuring a successful tournament.

Alhaji Abiodun Olawale Lawal (ABINUGBOLA) is slated for official installation as the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo on February 5, 2026, by the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeola Adebajo (Ojuromi VI).

CultureIjebu Group To Sanwo-olu: Stop Meddling In Awujale Selection Process by Vibrant007(op): 8:22pm On Jan 25
...Don't Impose Abimbola Onabanjo on us

A pan-Ijebu socio-political group, Ijebu Parapo has warned the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Olusola Sanwo-Olu to desist from interfering in the selection process leading to the emergence of the new Paramount rule and Awujale of Ijebuland.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Ijebu-Ode and signed by the Chairman, Otunba Olumuyiwa Sonowo, the group frowned at Sanwo-Olu's actions in meddling in the selection process.

The statement reads in part, "Ordinary, we did not want to join the fray. We had hoped that reason will prevail and due process would be allowed to guide the selection of our Paramount ruler. However, seeing that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing, we have elected to raise the alarm over the unwholesome activities of Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State in meddling in the whole selection process.

"We are amazed at all the hot air being blown by the very architects and masterminds of imposition. If anyone is to be accused of imposition, it is Governor Sanwo-Olu. Otherwise, how does one describe his involvement in calling members of the Council of Kingmakers and offering them a blank cheque to choose a certain Abimbola Onabanjo as the next Awujale?

"Can Governor Sanwo-Olu tolerate another governor interfering in the affairs of any part of Lagos State, let alone a traditional stool? Sanwo-Olu should mind the affairs of Lagos State and stop being a meddlesome interloper in the selection process of the Awujale of Ijebuland."

The group warned that if Governor Sanwo-Olu does not desist from his antics, it would mobilise Ijebu traditional worshippers to storm the seat of government in Lagos State - and disrupt government activities in Lagos State as Sanwo-Olu is doing in our beloved Ijebuland.

Nairaland GeneralKashamu Moves Motion For Apoje Farms’ Revitalization In Ogun State by Vibrant007(op): 8:47pm On Nov 18, 2025
... ASSEMBLY INVITES KEY GOVT OFFICIALS

The Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution for the immediate revitalization of Apoje Farms in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state following a motion moved by a member of the House of Assembly representing Ijebu North 1 State Constituency, Hon. Rasheed Kashamu.

The resolution followed a debate on a motion moved by the sponsor, Hon. Kashamu, entitled: “Need for the Revamp of Apoje Farms and Comprehensive Review of Farm Settlements Management in Ogun State”.

The motion was seconded by the member representing Ikenne State Constituency, Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla, and supported by the whole House through a voice vote.

Opening debate on the motion leading to the passage of the resolution, Hon. Kashamu highlighted the historic significance and economic potentials of Apoje Farms, describing it as “a once-thriving hub for oil palm, citrus, and other agricultural produce”.

He noted that the rehabilitation of the farm would support the State agricultural development strategies, enhance food production and boost internally generated revenue; urging the Assembly to call on relevant authorities to prioritize infrastructure upgrades, modern farming systems, and strategic partnerships needed to restore full commercial operations at the farm settlement.

The nation’s youngest lawmaker also proposed integrating Apoje Farms into the State’s Agricultural Master Plan, expanding its scope to include livestock production, aquaculture, processing hubs, and agro-tourism, with a sustainable management framework to ensure accountability and increased productivity.

Supporting the motion, other lawmakers, including the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo; Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, as well as Honourables Oluseun Adesanya, Babatunde Tella, Haruna Egungbohun, Damilare Bello and Adegoke Adeyanju, stressed the need to revive the Farm settlement and other agricultural settlements across the State; noting that agriculture had been a major revenue source before the oil boom.

The lawmakers noted that the revitalizing of the farm settlements was critical to addressing food scarcity and stabilizing the economy; requesting a thorough review and overhaul of all government-owned agricultural estates and facilities to ensure transparency and efficiency.

They called for measures to halt increased encroachment by real estate developers that were converting government-acquired farm lands into residential estates.

The motion for the adoption of the resolution was later moved by Hon. Kashamu and seconded by Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju; while the Majority Leader Yusuf Sherrif moved the motion converting the debate into a House resolution, seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Adeleye and supported by the entire House.

The Assembly directed the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bolu Owootomo and his Forestry counterpart, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun alongside the General Manager of the Agricultural Development Corporation to appear before it on Tuesday, 25th November, 2025.

“Mama Abiodun is a living testament to the beauty of a life rooted in service to God and humanity. Her journey is one of grace, fortitude and unyielding faith. She is a beacon of light that continues to illuminate not just her family but the entire Ogun State,” Otunba Sokoya said.

The AMORAN Chairman also commended Mama for her profound influence on her son, Governor Dapo Abiodun, whose exemplary leadership, he noted, reflects the values instilled by a mother of rare character and godly upbringing.

“The Governor’s compassion, poise and sense of purpose mirror the nurturing hands and prayers of a virtuous mother. Mama’s moral strength and spiritual guidance have been instrumental in shaping one of Ogun State’s finest leaders,” he remarked.

Describing the attainment of 90 years as “a divine milestone reserved for the truly blessed,” Otunba Sokoya lauded Mama’s enduring relevance and radiant spirit even in her advanced age.

He extended warm felicitations to the Abiodun family, praying for more years of good health, peace and divine joy for the nonagenarian.

“On behalf of the leadership and members of AMORAN across Ogun State, I celebrate a mother among mothers; a woman whose life continues to inspire hope and strength. PoliticsWhy I Am Contesting To Be House Of Reps Member - Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo by Vibrant007(op): 7:04pm On Sep 22, 2025
Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo, a frontline aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared that his ambition is driven by a passion to rebrand true representation and ensure governance that reflects the yearnings of the people at the grassroots.

Speaking with newsmen, Osinowo explained that his decision to join the race for the Green Chamber ahead of the 2027 general elections stems from a firm conviction that the constituency deserves a representative who is people-centered, innovative and pragmatic in addressing the challenges of development.

According to him, his aspiration is anchored on the need to champion policies and initiatives that will positively impact the lives of constituents, especially in the critical areas of education, infrastructure, health, job creation, youth and women empowerment.

“I am offering myself for service because I believe our people deserve quality representation. My antecedents as an individual, without holding political office, already speak volumes of what I can deliver if entrusted with the mandate of the people,” Osinowo stated.

Speaking further, he said part of what he intends to rebrand about representation is to make sure it has to do about the people and not just himself.

"𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦. The APC aspirant further urged residents of the constituency to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), noting that it remains their greatest weapon in electing credible leaders.

On why he is contesting under the platform of the APC, Osinowo maintained that the ruling party remains the most viable political platform in Nigeria. He praised the APC for consistently upholding democratic values, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “an excellent performance that has further cemented the party’s status as the right platform for visionary leaders to emerge.”

He reassured his supporters and constituents that if elected, he would deploy his experience, passion and proven track record to bring about genuine development and responsive representation.

PoliticsHon. Jenriyi Osinowo - The People's Mandate In Waiting by Vibrant007(op): 8:49am On Sep 18, 2025
In a society often beleaguered by a dearth of authentic representation, it is a rare occurrence to find a man whose passion for service is neither perfunctory nor perfidious. Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo stands as that rarity; a man whose essence radiates a selfless devotion to the people and whose antecedents boldly proclaim him as a round peg destined for a round hole in the theatre of leadership.

For the people of Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Osinowo has become the embodiment of what communities yearn for in a representative: a leader who listens, acts and delivers. His political philosophy is neither self-seeking nor ostentatious; rather, it is people-centric, woven intricately with the thread of compassion, foresight and an uncommon ability to transform vision into palpable action.

What distinguishes Hon. Osinowo is not merely his rhetoric, but the alignment of his thoughts, words and actions. For him, leadership is not an abstraction of power but a concrete duty to ameliorate the daily struggles of the people. Every initiative he undertakes springs from this core philosophy - *“what must be done for the people must be done promptly and with excellence.”*

Unlike leaders who traffic in promises, Osinowo’s credentials are carved in the annals of tangible development. He has championed road grading projects, ensuring that rural communities hitherto trapped in neglect can now access improved road networks. His empowerment of small-scale business owners has rekindled enterprise and restored dignity to hardworking men and women who form the economic backbone of the constituency.

Not stopping there, he has illuminated communities through solar light installations, ensuring safety, productivity and a renewed sense of belonging in places long shrouded by darkness. And in a pioneering gesture that underscores his creativity and deep regard for youth development, Hon. Osinowo birthed the first-ever Summer Camp in Ijebu North, a program still reverberating across the constituency as a symbol of his transformative imagination.

These interventions, though laudable, are but a tip of the iceberg compared to the wonders he envisions if entrusted with a federal mandate.

The people crave a leader who is not only intellectually sound but also emotionally attuned to their needs. In Osinowo, they find both. His leadership style is a rare fusion of empathy and pragmatism, making him the archetype of the representative every community deserves because he is accessible, dependable and purpose-driven.

The road ahead demands a leader of uncommon resolve and Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo is evidently prepared for such a charge. His life’s work has been a rehearsal for this larger stage and his commitment to service is the assurance that the people’s mandate will not be squandered but will be translated into enduring development.

As the clock ticks toward the electoral decision, the choice before the constituency is as clear as daylight: to entrust their collective aspirations to a man already tested in service and proven in capacity. Hon. Jenriyi Osinowo is not merely ready; he is destined to deliver.

PoliticsA New Dawn For Remoland: RMDC Celebrates Princess Elegbeji’s Historic Victory by Vibrant007(op): 6:31pm On Sep 17, 2025

Politics2027: El-rufai Has To Rescind His Unpopular Decision - Uche Diala by Vibrant007(op): 8:01pm On Aug 28, 2025
An ardent supporter and ally of Mallam Nasir El-rufai has called on him to rescind his decision not to contest any elective office in 2027 and instead throw his hat in the ring.

The former Governor of Kaduna state and frontline leader of the opposition coalition movement and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while receiving a group of PDP youths who defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under the leadership of former PDP youth leader Aliyu Bello in Kaduna on Wednesday was reported as saying, “.. I am not contesting for anything; I don’t want to go to the Senate. I am not contesting for any position. That is why I am calling on you: let us join hands and ensure we remove the oppressors.”

However, in a swift reaction, while fielding questions from journalists who sought his opinion on the former governor’s comment, a staunch supporter and ally of the maverick Kaduna politician, Dr Uche Diala said that it would be a disservice, not only to the supporters and admirers of the former Governor, but more importantly to the nation and Nigeria’s democracy at large.

“Mallam is one of the most consequential politicians in Nigeria today who has the capacity, qualification and experience to make a real difference under our present realities. His not participating will not only dampen the spirits but would mean deliberately denying the nation the opportunity of benefitting from his immense wealth of experience’, he said.

Asked whether, being a close ally of the ADC national leader, he was surprised by his statement regarding not running for any office in 2027, he said that he was not entirely surprised because that is in sync with the character of the former Governor.

Diala said that, “Mallam is not one driven by ambition. In fairness to him, he has never mentioned in any of our conversations that he had any interest in running for any office in 2027. It has always been about building a credible coalition to offer Nigerians a different type of progressive leadership out of the current quagmire. As an ardent Muslim, he also believes that power comes from God alone. If the people want you and God endorses it, then it will happen.”

Continuing, Dr Diala said, “Nigerians will remember how Mallam became Governor of Kaduna state after pressure from late President Buhari and others, and today Kaduna state is better off for it in spite of any misgivings. Nigerians will equally remember how he had his plans all worked out, intent on leaving the country after his tenure as Governor in pursuit of his academic ambitions, in spite of his unmatchable contributions to the victory of the APC and the current President, only to be publicly pressured by the President to stay back to assist his administration. So, I was not really surprised that he said that and I believe that he means it. However, Mallam needs to understand that this is beyond him. Nigeria needs him now more than ever and he must be sensitive to that reality.”

When asked if his insistence that El-rufai should run means that he has no confidence in the other leaders in the coalition movement who have expressed a desire to run, he said that that is not the case. “There are other worthy and very qualified leaders in the ranks of the coalition. Calling on Mallam El-rufai to run is to further enrich the contest and to deepen the choices available to Nigerians. It is already agreed by the key actors that whoever emerges from a free and transparent primaries of the party, everyone else would support”, he said.

Asked what he intended to do next, he said that he and other like minds have been working underground, building bridges and sensitizing and mobilizing Nigerians across all spectrum, but with the statement by the former Governor which many people have latched on to, there is a need to be more open and vocal.

“The truth is that we have been engaging with Nigerians across tribal, regional, political and religious lines on the need to have someone with the pedigree and excellent track record like Mallam to be on the ticket in 2027 and Nigerians are buying that message. However, we have been doing so underground so as not to distract from the main goal of building a formidable coalition and the party ADC. Under the current circumstance, we intend to be more vocal and open about the call”, he said.

On whether he expects Mallam El-rufai to accede to their demands, he said he was positive. “It is not personal to me or any of my compatriots. Mallam needs to equally understand that this is not about him. It is about the future of our country. It is about taking the nation out of the unfortunate situation it found itself, by an administration which he equally contributed to bringing to power. He must realize that it is not just about building a coalition. He must also make himself available for service, and then leave the party members and Nigerians at large to decide. That is the least that he owes us his supporters, the coalition movement and the nation at large. I am positive that Mallam will listen to our plea”, he said.

When asked if he is insisting on Mallam Nasir El-rufai being the presidential candidate of the ADC in 2027, especially in view of the North - South power rotation debate, Diala said that that is not the focus of discussion for now.

“Even as I am not a fan of rotational presidency because it promotes mediocrity, I am sensitive to that conversation. However, that is not the issue in discourse for now. What is important is for Mallam to be open and available to run for the ticket. At the appropriate time and place, we shall have the conversation about head and tail of the ticket. I can also say that Mallam is not too arrogant or selfish to not consider and respect the sensibilities and opinions of others. However, when we get to that bridge, we will cross it. For now, all the effort will be geared towards getting Mallam to rescind his decision to sit 2027 out. Nigeria needs his likes today more than ever”, Diala said.

He concluded by revealing that like minds would be ramping up pressure in the coming days and weeks on the former Governor with a view to getting him to rescind his decision. “Mallam will hear from us and he will listen to us. It is not about him. It is about our dear nation. We shall spare no effort in making him rescind his unpopular decision”, he concluded.

The statement by the former Governor of Kaduna state that he was not interested in running for any office in 2027 has triggered massive reactions especially on social media, even though he had never said that he was running. However his closest and most ardent followers, associates and allies are having none of it.

The Convener and Director General of Ogun Progressive People (OPP), Olola Faith Daniel, has congratulated Hon. (Dr.) Princess Adesola Ayoola Elegbeji on her landslide victory in the just concluded House of Representatives by-election for Remo Federal Constituency, held on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

In his congratulatory message, Olola Daniel described Elegbeji’s emergence as “a clear affirmation of the genuine trust the electorate has in her character, capacity and the progressive ideals of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He commended the people of Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North Remo for their overwhelming support, stressing that the victory was also a reflection of the giant strides and purposeful leadership of the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, whose developmental agenda, he noted, played a pivotal role in strengthening the party’s base and securing the victory.

Olola Faith Daniel further urged the newly elected lawmaker not to betray the trust and confidence reposed in her by the electorate, but to consolidate on the gains of her predecessor, the late Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga (a.k.a. IJAYA), whose tenure, he said, left indelible footprints in the constituency.

“I have no doubt that Princess Elegbeji will deliver beyond expectations. Her antecedents in public service speak volumes of her capacity, courage and commitment to people-oriented representation,” he declared.

Finally, he charged stakeholders and constituents to rally round the new lawmaker to ensure she succeeds in advancing the progressive vision for Remo Federal Constituency.

EducationUNIZIK Pro-chancellor Kukoyi Addresses Senate At Council Meeting by Vibrant007(op): 4:01pm On Jul 25, 2025
REMARKS BY THE PRO-CHANCELLOR AND CHAIRMAN OF THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, AWKA, BARRISTER OLUGBENGA KUKOYI DURING THE FORMAL MEETING OF THE EXTERNAL GOVERNING COUNCIL MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY WITH THE SENATE OF THE UNIVERSITY IN AWKA ON THE 25TH OF JULY, 2025.

PROTOCOLS

Today, I stand before this august body – the Senate of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University – with a great sense of responsibility, duty and honour. This is the second time that I will be addressing you. The first was during my maiden visit on the 26th of February, 2025.

2. On that occasion, I came with the then Acting Vice-Chancellor and the internal members of the Governing Council. Today, I am here with a brand new Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi. It is also my pleasure to announce, as you probably may have been aware, that I am here with the full complement of members of the Governing Council of this great university pursuant to the inauguration of the External Members by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (CON).

3. Having interacted with the Council members over time, I can confirm to you that Nnamdi Azikiwe University is blessed to have on its Governing Council an array of distinguished Nigerians who are passionate about education, and particularly, the development of this great university.

4. You would recall that during my maiden address to this Senate, I promised that the Governing Council under my leadership will continue to work with the Senate and your representatives on the Council as well as other stakeholders with a view to getting the input of all critical stakeholders in all we do.

5. For good measure, I did say that, in doing the above, we shall not sacrifice fairness, equity, justice, merit, competence, and above all, the Rule of Law, on the altar of some primordial considerations and sentiments.

6. We have tried to keep faith with these ethos and principles even in the face of some discontent and opposition.

7. Let us not forget that at any given time, it is only one person that can occupy a position. It is the Almighty God that gives power to whoever he wishes. He removes kings and sets up kings.

8. This is an academic environment and the primary reason for being here as an academic is to contribute your quota to research and body of knowledge. Any other thing is secondary.

9. Therefore, the attempts at turning every exercise or aspiration into a do-or-die affair and mudslinging should be discouraged. It is an ill-wind that does no one any good.

10. The Governing Council that I chair knows its powers and boundaries; and we have tried to stay within them. It is the dog that wags the tail and not the other way round.

11. On this note, let me mention without any equivocation that henceforth the Governing Council, working closely with the management of the University, shall not hesitate to take appropriate disciplinary measures against those who are in the habit of attacking constituted authorities and bringing the name of the university into disrepute and/or contempt when things do not go their way – for a moment!

13. I seek the support and solidarity of every member of the Senate and the Senate itself as well as other stakeholders in the onerous task of making UNIZIK not just the “University of the Moment” but the “University for all time”.

13. This is possible and realizable knowing full well that it is the sum total of our individual and collective efforts that make a complete whole.

14. Let us join hands to make UNIZIK truly a centre of “discipline, self-reliance and excellence”.

Thank you and God bless.

Nairaland GeneralEstablish Ministry Of Youth, Ogun Youth Council Writes Gov. Abiodun by Vibrant007(op): 8:20pm On Jun 27, 2025
The Ogun State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to urgently establish a Ministry of Youth Development and appoint a dedicated Commissioner to oversee youth-focused matters in the state.

In a strongly-worded open letter signed by the State Chairman, Oloye Akolawole Shoremi, and the State Secretary, Comrade Dotun Opaleye, the Council expressed growing concern over what it described as the “palpable fear of marginalization” among the over three million young people in the state.

While acknowledging the efforts of the governor, including the unbundling of the defunct Ministry of Youth & Sports in 2023 and various ad-hoc youth initiatives, the NYCN stated that these efforts have been largely insufficient to address the strategic needs of the state’s youth population.

> “The non-existence of a Ministry for Youth Development since its announcement sends an unintended but disheartening message — that the concerns, aspirations, and potential of young people may not be prioritized with the same focused attention as other crucial sectors,” the letter stated.

The Council outlined its contributions under the current leadership, including promoting peace, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. It also referenced its role in mobilizing youth against cultism and drug abuse in collaboration with state authorities.

Despite these efforts, the NYCN lamented persistent bureaucratic challenges and a lack of dedicated structures to engage the youth effectively, highlighting a long-standing absence of operational vehicles and an abandoned Ogun Youth Development Centre brought to the governor’s attention in 2022.

The Council warned of dire implications if the issue remains unaddressed, including:

Alienation and potential brain drain among talented youths.

Increased social instability due to youth disengagement.

Missed economic opportunities driven by youth innovation.

Eroded trust between government and its largest constituency.

> “Establishing a Ministry for Youth Development is not just an administrative move — it is a strategic imperative that reflects responsive leadership and investment in the future of Ogun State,” the letter emphasized.

The NYCN also noted that creating such a ministry would align Ogun State with others in the Southern region that have taken similar steps to institutionalise youth development at the highest level of governance.

The youth leadership urged Governor Abiodun, who also chairs the Southern Governors’ Forum, to prioritize their plea and demonstrate his administration's commitment to building an inclusive, secure, and youth-empowered Ogun State.

Below is the full statement released by the Youth Council and obtained by our correspondent:

June 27, 2025.

His Excellency
Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.
The Executive Governor of Ogun State
Governor’s Office
Abeokuta

Dear Sir,

*A PLEA FOR THE HEART OF OGUN: ESTABLISHING A MINISTRY FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, APPOINTMENT OF A COMMISSIONER AND OTHER YOUTH RELATED MATTERS.*

We write on behalf of the State Management Committee of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, representing over one thousand youth organizations across Ogun State and spanning over three million young people, with a heart filled with both understanding and a deep sense of urgency. The youth leadership is acutely aware of the multifaceted responsibilities and significant demands that rest upon your shoulders as the Leader of our beloved Ogun State. The task of governance is undoubtedly complex, often requiring difficult decisions and the careful allocation of limited resources across numerous pressing needs. Mr. Governor, we acknowledge and empathize with you on these inherent challenges.

However, it is with profound concern that we must once again bring to your attention a matter of critical importance to the very fabric and future of our State: the worrisome lack of an established and functional Ministry for Youth Development, led by a dedicated Commissioner.

For too long, the vibrant and dynamic youth constituency of Ogun State, the largest and unarguably the most energetic segment of our society, has experienced a palpable fear of being sidelined. While we appreciate your efforts and commitment to improving our welfare through the May 2023 pronouncement unbundling the defunct Ministry of Youth & Sports, periodic financial supports, various ad-hoc arrangements and the promotion of youth-focused initiatives within existing Ministries, these measures have proven insufficient to address the unique and multifaceted needs of our young people comprehensively and strategically.

The non-existence of a Ministry for Youth Development, since its pronouncement, sends an unintended but nonetheless disheartening message – that the concerns, aspirations, and potential of the young people of Ogun State are probably not prioritized with the same focused attention as other crucial sectors. This perceived attitude has burdened the youth constituency with a sense of disappointment and marginalization, hindering our ability to fully contribute to the progress and prosperity of the Gateway State.

Your Excellency, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, under our leadership, has consistently strived to be a reliable partner in progress through the following means:

1. We have championed peace and social cohesion by working tirelessly to mediate disputes and promote understanding amongst diverse youth groups across the length and breadth of Ogun State.

2. We’ve facilitated civic engagement by encouraging young people to participate actively in governance processes and community development initiatives, referencing our several voter’s education, election monitoring, electoral debates and account of stewardship at the Local Government, Senatorial and State Levels.

3. We’ve promoted skills acquisition and entrepreneurship by either collaborating or spearheading programs aimed at empowering youths with the tools for economic independence, including the facilitation of business grants under your administration.

4. We’ve served and continue to serve as a vital communication bridge, conveying the needs and aspirations of the youth to relevant authorities and disseminating crucial information back to our constituency. This included strategic advocacy visits and engagements with you, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker, the Secretary to the State Government, notable Commissioners and other relevant stakeholders.

5. We’ve mobilized youth for positive social actions, enabling our young people to participate actively in state-led initiatives and contributing to the overall well-being of Ogun State. This includes partnership and initiation of fora against cultism and anti-drug activities, with evidences of actions available on request.

Our dear Governor, despite these consistent efforts, the lack of a dedicated Ministry often leaves the youth leadership navigating bureaucratic bottlenecks and struggling for the focused attention required to effectively address the pressing issues facing our youth – issues ranging from a dwindled inclusion in governance as evident through the lack of a Ministry for Youth Development, skills gaps to civic apathy and social vices, and insufficient allocation of resources to youth empowerment and capacity building.

Your Excellency, the continued absence of a Ministry for Youth Development carries significant implications for the future of Ogun State and your leadership as the Chairman of the Southern Governors of Nigeria. Neglecting this vital demographic risks the following:

1. Alienating a significant portion of our population, leading to disillusionment and a potential brain drain as our talented youths will unarguably seek opportunities elsewhere. This, of course, becomes a sabotage to the mantra of building our future together.

2. Undermining social stability as our frustrated and disengaged youth are technically becoming vulnerable to negative influences, potentially re-enabling social unrest against your assurances during previous youth agitations.

3. Hindering economic growth as the negligence of our demands for the past few years risks us missing out on the immense potential of our innovation, creativity, and energy to drive economic progress.

4. Creating a disconnect between the government and its largest constituency therefore eroding trust and making it challenging to effectively implement youth-focused policies in the future.

Your Excellency, we firmly believe that the express establishment of a Ministry for Youth Development, headed by a passionate and dedicated Commissioner, is not merely an administrative adjustment but a strategic imperative and demonstration of a responsive leadership across the Southern States of Nigeria. It would send a powerful message to our peers, within and beyond, that your government indeed values us, understands our needs, and committed to sustaining the investment in our future. It would provide a focal point for policy formulation, program implementation, and effective engagement with the youth constituency.

It may be necessary to remind you once again, our dear Governor, that the youth leadership of Ogun State has no single Operational Bus till date to support our daily activities. The vehicles of previous and current State Chairmen of the Youth Council have majorly borne the brunt of work-related incidents in our bids to advocate the interest of the youth constituency. It may also be necessary to state, Your Excellency, that the Ogun Youth Development Centre brought to your notice, during our August 2022 meeting with you, is currently lying unattended with a tendency of being withdrawn from the foundational mandate of a State Youth Resource Center. Needless to begin list, in comparison, the number of youth operational vehicles or Youth Development Centers in neighboring States.

We humbly implore you, Your Excellency, to consider this plea with the utmost urgency. By prioritizing the establishment of our Ministry and other youth related matters, you will not only address a long-standing concern but also unlock the immense potential of our constituency, paving the way for a more prosperous, secure, and vibrant future for all.

We remain hopeful for your positive actions and look forward to an immediate future where the voices and needs of the youth constituency are given the prominence we rightfully deserve.

Yours in youth development,

Olóyè Akolawole Shoremi

*UNIZIK GOVERNING COUNCIL DEBUNKS PURPORTED ELECTION OF ACTING VC*

The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State has debunked the news of the purported election of an Acting Vice-Chancellor.

In a statement issued in Awka on Thursday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi, the Council said there is no enabling law or statute that permits any of the organs of the University to elect either an acting or substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The statement reads in part, "We urge the general public and the university community to disregard the unfounded piece of news of the purported election of an Acting Vice-Chancellor as infantile desperation by some elements within the university community. It does not represent the true position of the state of affairs and we would not sit idly and allow some desperadoes to usurp the powers of the Council or the Visitor to the University.

"Without mincing words, Section 1 (13) of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provision, Amendment) Act 2003 mandates the Governing Council to appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor whenever there is vacancy in the office of the Vice-Chancellor.

"Given the impending expiration of the six months tenure of the outgoing Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, the Council requested the convening of the Senate of the University to nominate five qualified professors out of which the Council will appoint an Acting Vice-Chancellor. The process is ongoing and will soon be concluded."

Nairaland GeneralThe Sponsors Of The Crisis In Osun State Saga With Cititrust by Vibrant007(op): 7:41am On Apr 19, 2025
By Banji Enitan

In the last few days over ten media outlets have written one form of news on the crisis rocking Osun State Government with Cititrust Holdings. This is very appalling because the Osun State Government is not aware as at the time of writing this report that Cititrust Holdings is Osun-owned Company.

The most disturbing news is that all the media publications in these ten media houses were not sponsored by the EFCC. Neither was sponsored by Osun State Government, nor Cititrust. Then who is spending resources to publish in ten media houses by sponsoring the crisis rocking Osun State Government with Cititrust Holdings. There is definitely a fifth columnist who is secretly working behind the scenes. After an intelligence gathering, we found out it is a company registered as 501 Corporate Limited (Zenith Bank and Wema Bank) that is behind the financing of the media houses.

Osun State Government has had over four years peace partnership with the Cititrust Holdings until the point when the Adelekes family has been sold smokescreen and hoodwinked by the sympathizers of 501 Corporate Solution Limited within the Osun State Government to cause mayhem.

So who is 501 Corporate Limited? Who are the owners of 501 Corporate Limited? What is the link of this 501 Corporate Limited to the crisis rocking Osun State Government with Cititrust Holdings?

There is need for everyone to unravel the mystery owners of 501 Corporate Limited to enable them dig deep into the motive behind this crisis that is raging and what they stand to benefit in the short and long run.

It is common knowledge that the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal nullified Adeleke's election victory, citing allegations of over-voting in certain polling units. The tribunal declared Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue him a certificate of return.

However, same Osun State Government went on appeal to the Court of Appeal Ruling (March 24, 2023) wherein Adeleke appealed the tribunal's decision. The Court ofOsun Appeal in Abuja overturned the tribunal's judgment, stating that the allegations of over-voting were not substantiated with credible evidence. The appellate court reinstated Adeleke as the duly elected governor of Osun State.

So why is the entire Osun State Government very angry because Cititrust Holdings took same steps of redress by its decision to go to Court of Appeal against the judgement of the High Court? When same Osun Government benefitted from same Appeal Court decision two years ago. It seems 501 Corporate Solutions Limited is blindfolding the entire State Government into this crisis.

We can authoritatively confirm that whoever is behind 501 Corporate Solution Limited has a motive and using unsuspected person(s) in the Osun State Government to fan this crisis.

Osun State Government will know no peace until they unravel the 501 Corporate Solution members. Of course, there is definitely mole(s) in the Osun State Government which include a former finance commissioner that is working clandestinely with the 501 Corporate Solution Limited.

Osun State Government has had over four years peace partnership with the Cititrust Holdings until the point when the Adelekes family has been sold smokescreen and hoodwinked by the sympathizers of 501 Corporate Solution Limited within the Osun State Government to cause mayhem.
