Following an order of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State restraining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from preventing the Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe-led South West Zonal Executive Committee and other delegates from the zone to the December 9 National Convention of the party, an appeal has been made to the national leadership of the party to obey the Rule of Law and avoid any act that could contaminate the convention. In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Vice-Chairman of the party in the South West, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, he urged the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) of the party to “uphold the Rule of Law as a product of the Law”. He spoke against the backdrop of the 18th October, 2017 court order which restrained the PDP, the Chairman and Secretary of the NCC from preventing Makanjuola and other leaders of the party from the South West zone from attending the National Convention, just as it barred the party, its officers and organs from allowing the Eddy Olafeso-led group from participating in the convention or submitting any list as South West delegates. Specifically, the court ruled that, “An order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 2nd to 4thDefendants by themselves, their agents, servants and privies from preventing the Plaintiffs and other South West delegates to the PDP National Convention listed in the schedule attached to this originating summons including Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju (a former member of the PDP National Working Committee) and Senator Buruji Kashamu (a member of the National Assembly elected on the platform of the party) from participating in the PDP National Convention scheduled to hold on the 9thof December 2017 or any other date during the subsistence of tenure of office of the South West Zonal Executive Committee led by the 1st Plaintiff or taking any disciplinary step by way of expulsion, suspension, reprimand or any other disciplinary action whatsoever or howsoever described against the Plaintiffs and other delegates of the party from the South West Zone in order to prevent them from participating in the party’s National Convention pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. “An order of interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 5th to 15th Defendants by themselves, their servants, agents and or privies from participating in the PDP National Convention scheduled to hold on the 9thof December 2017 or any other date during the subsistence of tenure of office of the South West Zonal Executive Committee led by the 1st Plaintiff as members of the South West delegates of the party pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. “An interim order is hereby granted restraining the 1st Defendant from countenancing or recognising any disciplinary action taken by the 2nd to 4th Defendants to prevent the Plaintiffs and other delegates of the party in the South West Zone including Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju (a former member of the PDP National Working Committee), Senator Buruji Kashamu (a member of the National Assembly elected on the platform of the party) and the persons listed in the schedule attached to this originating summons from participating in the PDP National Convention scheduled to hold on the 9thof December 2017 or any other date during the subsistence of tenure of office of the South West Zonal Executive Committee led by the 1st Plaintiff by any means whatsoever including by suspension and or expulsion from the party pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.” Ogundipe said the Senator Makarfi-led NCC and the national leadership of the party have a duty not to encourage impunity and lawlessness if they were desirous of building a new PDP that will appeal to Nigerians and win elections in 2019. “I say this because Eddy Olafeso and his gang never emerged from a valid South West Zonal congress. The Federal High Court, Lagos, in a ruling delivered in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/605/2016 on the 17thof May, 2016, the court expressly nullified the sham congress. Till date, the order has neither been set aside nor upturned on appeal. “It should be further noted that in a final judgment delivered on the 24th of June, 2016, the court categorically stated that our tenure ends in October, 2018, having been elected at a special zonal congress held on the 11th of October, 2014 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. The implication of this is that my exco remains the only validly elected and judicially sanctioned leadership of the party in the South West.” Ogundipe said should the party leadership act in defiance of indubitable facts and the Rule of Law, “it will contaminate the National Convention”, adding that, “Our leaders should do justice and avoid anything that can jeopardize our party’s chances in the march towards 2019.” He urged the party faithful and leaders in the South West to continue to work for the party and mobilize into its fold, especially now that it stands a chance to produce the National Chairman of the party. “The position of the National Chairman has been zoned to the South and the Presidency to the North. The South has further conceded the National Chairmanship to the South West. Therefore, we cannot do otherwise. The South West should produce the National Chairman and the North should produce the President. That is what we should work towards and we are ready to do,” Ogundipe said. |
I solely dwell in the thinking of how Ijebu Igbo in totality will be able to reach its peak politically that serves as the step to other improvements. Life without a paddler will only remain a stagnant ship tied at the shore but life with a barbaric paddler will make it more difficult by turning a wave to a standing pole. The question is; WHO is capable of delivering the expected liberty and convenient life for Ijebu Igbo Constituents Man's life in every striking seconds requires a moving positive change without element of self annihilation. This ascertain the degree of our necessity to have a good leader to paddle our boat of affairs for the next political terms ahead in Ijebu Igbo constituency. How do we make this a reality? Its only by supporting the only symbol of unity, solidarity and good personality known as SUNDAY ONABANJO SOBOWALE (SOS). And what is to be the paddled ? The greatest problem facing the betterment of our people politically is the lack of good personality to represent them at the political realm. The hardship of a man will never stop until they chose rightly with their votes. Let's speak of the hope and not the fallacy, let's view the change and not the false promises, let's hear of the greatness and not the illusions. Let's embrace SUNDAY Onabanjo SOBOWALE (S O S) as the POSITIVE SYMBOL to represent us (Ijebu Igbo; Constituency 1) at the STATE ASSEMBLY come 2019. The Power Of The People Is Greater Than The People In Power. Let's Speak Massively With Our Thumbs S O S 2019.... IT IS SACROSANCT !!!

The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu was commended on Wednesday in Abeokuta by a group under the aegis of Egba Voters Club (EVC) for his outstanding leadership qualities and philantrophic gestures. They said the lawmaker's benevolence and commitment to the cause of the down-trodden through his Omoilu Foundation and love for the masses informed their decision to commend him. Speaking during an outreach programme organised by the group to sensitise its members across Ogun State in preparation for the 2019 election, a member of the group and the coordinator of Arewa Peoples Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Alhaji Muktair Gambo-Ali acknowledged the unprecedented achievements of the lawmaker in Ogun East Senatorial District over the years in the areas of social and physical infrastructure, which has led to the empowerment of thousands of people and the upliftment of many communities. Gambo also applauded the lawmaker for being listed recently as one of the few lawmakers with the highest number of bills sponsored at the 8th National Assembly, saying it speaks volume. In her words, the woman leader of the Igbo community in Ogun Central Senatorial District, Mrs. Nkechi Okoli described the lawmaker as God-sent and and a kind-hearted leader. "Senator Kashamu is a compassionate leader who has been touching lives across Ogun State through his Omoilu Foundation. So many market women who are out of business are back in business through Omoilu interest-free loan scheme. "2019 election is approaching, I want to assure him that we the Igbos in Ogun State are ready to support him, we are ready to go his way. The Egba Voters Club (EVC) is a group that comprises of all the tribes residing in Ogun State. The National Leadership of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) kicks against the NGO bill sponsored by Deputy Majority leader of the House of Representatives. Hon Umar Buba Jibril. NAPS sees the bill which has gone and passed through the first reading in the National Assembly as a means for the government render NGO's ineffective and succumbs its existence as a pro-government tool. The NGO bill comprises of 58 section of un-concealed ill-will and jumbled thinking in its proposal. The bill proposes that a regulatory commission is created to regulate the activities of the NGO, register, and operate with substantial immunities under the law. The commission which is to be head by an appointee of the President must see that all NGO registers with the commission only and renew registration in 24 months or legal personality is lost. This is seen as a means to dictate the operation of NGO's as the commission can refuse renewal for no reason, revoke license or be dictated by the Minister of Inferior. The NGO Bill seeks to militarize the civic space and infringe on the fundamental protected rights of citizens to expression, association and assembly, thereby shielding away the citizens right to protest and oppose government decisions. The Buhari led government needs to understand the beauty of democracy lies in freedom to express and associate and thus must respect civil rights . The NGO bill is set to ruin student movement , a pressure group that has landmark in the history of the country, such as the Ali Must Go struggle led by Late Pa Segun Okeowo. Without the passage of the bill, many tertiary institutions lack student leadership or a substantial one in which the new executive of NAPS and the mother body NANS are trying to set student union activities back on right track , appeal against suspended student union leaders who are penalized for standing for the right of the students , but an actualization of the NGO bill will empower the management of institutions to make callous policy and infringe on students rights. Above all, at a time of poor public finances, the bill seeks to create yet another pointless parastatal and yet add to government overhead cost. It is unarguably clear that the bill is aim to militarize and make governmental the Non Governmental Organizations and the leadership of this noble association rise to kick against and SAY NO TO NGO BILL. The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu has taken a swipe at the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, for declaring his intention to contest the Presidency in 2019. Specifically, he urged the National leadership of the party, comprising of the National Caretaker Committee (NCC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) to sanction Fayose for going against the party’s zoning arrangement. Kashamu said it was the height of anti-party activities for Fayose to have gone against the party’s decision to zone the Presidency to the North. In a statement he issued in Abuja on Thursday, Kashamu said, “Although his so-called declaration is of no political consequence whatsoever, it is antithetical to the mood of the party and nation that someone who claims to be a party man could go against the decision of the party to zone the Presidency to the North. “By 2019, the South would have had the Presidency for 14 of Nigeria’s 20 years democratic rule since 1999, with a Southerner ruling for two terms back to back. It smacks of insensitivity and greed for anyone from the South to declare for the Presidency so soon. “With Fayose’s latest action, it is now glaring that all his grandstanding was meant to further his own selfish interest. He never had the interest of the party, the people and the nation at heart. “This man is simply desperate for power. It is like since his anti-depressant drugs can no longer contain him, he is looking for every available means to perpetuate himself in office. Otherwise, how do we explain the fact that the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum would go against the decision of the party? Little wonder none of his governor-colleagues attended the event. No member of the party in the National Assembly attended the ceremony. “At first, he said he wanted to seek re-election to continue his first term which was truncated by impeachment in 2006. Thereafter, he began to work towards becoming the Vice-President and now he says he wants to be the President! “I am however glad that Nigerians are no fools. They know those who really have their interest at heart. They know the leaders with the demonstrable capacity to take Nigeria to the proverbial Promised Land; not the charlatans and looters who pretend to be leaders. “On seeing his so-called Presidential declaration on television, I wondered if he was declaring to be a regional president because most of those who attended were from a region of the country. Indeed, by his action, Fayose seeks to further widen the ethnic divide in our country, cause resentment against our great party and tragically bring the party into disrepute. Thus, he is guilty of anti-party activities. “In the light of the above, I wish to urge the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led NCC to issue a query to Fayose and subsequently refer him to the National Disciplinary Committee for going against the party’s zoning arrangement and stoking resentment against our party in the minds of the electorate.” |
"Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire teammates and customers."-Robin S. Sharma Passion is the essence of Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu's leadership style. His great intelligence and perfect coordination of people and resources have brought him fame within and outside Ogun State. He remains confident and trustworthy in the face of betrayal, putting his hope in the Almighty Allah (S W T) who gives justice and protection. SPBK has also always been a firm defender of equality and the rule of law; a law abiding citizen to the core, in all circumstances. In this regard, he is greatly passionate about his followers, faithfully catering to not just their needs but also the less privileged as well as those outside his political family. May SPBK always emerge victorious over all trials and adversities that may come his way. #istandwithSPBK |
Lately, the profile of Honorable Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale (S O S), rose again with the masses insisting a ready-to- serve son like him, who meant well for the people, especially at the grassroot level should not be kept out of leadership position. However, not that his profile ever went down, it is just that within the Ijebu Igbo political class, people have come to acknowledge him as the better option come 2019. Indeed, he is regarded as the most visible among his colleagues. What’s more, he is one of the most consistent members of the Peoples Democratic Leader who has never for once doubted the political party. Hon Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale is a rare breed, a patriotic silent achiever and one who believes in potential and greatness. This seasoned businessman believes in loyalty and has always guided his path in his endeavour, setting the pace for his extraordinary greatness. S O S has developed to a strong political brand name that has made him a reference point in politics, in and outside his zone. No doubt, his outstanding record of uncommon achievements continues to endear him to his people regardless of the Zone he hailed from. He is a lover of people; he is always very passionate about the plight of his people and enjoys solving all problems. For him, the passion that drives a man defines his focus and agenda for life. He is driven by a well-defined passion to elevate the human condition of his people (electorates) and many times he has spoken and done things in affirmation of his drive. For S O S, governance is steward for God; it is serious business and not for personal aggrandisement. It is also not for pleasing a group of friends at the expense of the people. His aspiration has always shown empathy for the plight of the people. According to his philosophy, political virtue must be inextricably bound up with the good of the whole community and cannot be reduced to individual’s success in gaining office and power. He believes that all men are equal by nature and should be so in society. Perhaps that is what defines his approach to governance and in public service. There are leaders who are utterly self-impressed, who regard political office as the pathway to a frontier where will and ego can proceed virtually unbounded. There are leaders who foot-loose in search of opportunity for self aggrandisement. There are leaders who are not noted for any strong passion or ideological direction. Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale is a mobiliser and a motivational speaker, who has not for once wavered despite the many struggles he gets confronted with. He is likeable, amiable but blunt. He is a stickler for time, accountability and transparency. You will always be struck by his extraordinary warmth and kind disposition evident in his life. Though in his 50s, the energetic leader does not look his age one bit. The only thing that could easily give him away is his grown-up children. Although he could be jovial, he is a no nonsense man when it comes to assignments and its delivery. But underlining his playful disposition is a seriousness that nobody dares take for granted. He is so good in nature that the welfare of his people remains his primary duty. Little can we wonder why the sons and daughters of Ijebu Igbo, both old and young are insisting that Hon Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale represents them at the Ogun State House Of Assembly in 2019. If it is the voice of the people, it is the voice of the Lord. S O S 2019 is sacrosanct ! |
The senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Buruji Kashamu has urged the Chairman of National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ahmed Makarfi, to tread cautiously and adhere to the Rule of Law. In a letter entitled "The Need to Adhere to the Rule of Law on PDP Ogun State and South West Zonal Excos Issues", addressed to Makarfi, Kashamu enjoined Makarfi to rise up to the occasion in resolving the intra-party issues being a product of the law. He warned that failure to correct the various infractions could endanger the proposed elective national convention of the party. Kashamu said, " I am without choice than to write to advise you again when I learnt that you are planning another national convention for December despite the avalanche of disobedience of court orders during your planning of the last convention with the attending vicissitudes such illegal actions have created. Could it be that, unknown to me, the PDP National caretaker committee has assumed appellate jurisdiction over Nigerian high courts? Infact, I wish to also think that you are not deliberately working with your caretaker members to destroy the PDP in the South West and particularly Ogun State. "Otherwise, one is left to wonder why ordinarily easy and righteous reconciliatory steps are difficult for you to take. Rather, you increasingly complicated the matters for no logical reasons other than extreme self interests and parochial repayments for support of your stand, or lack of same; during your National leadership tussle with Sheriff. Even if you are to be egocentric, though that's unfortunate; must it be this total as to disregard and seek to deliberately circumvent the rule of law and possibly destroy the party in the whole of the SW zone? "Should you by the benevolence of Allah, become the President of the Federal Republic, is this how you would handle national and intra-zonal disputes?" Kashamu, who said he has nothing personal against Makarfi, wondered why he has refused to be an unbiased umpire. "Several letters had been written to you by the legitimate SW zonal exco and that of Ogun State. Details of subsisting orders and judgements of competent courts of jurisdiction were clearly stated. It is to be expected of you to have verified the validity of the claims and counterclaims. "Reasonably, it is upon this initial due diligence that you could now fairly and honestly settle the issues in dispute out of court. Thus, such credible reconciliation could then be filed in the courts as out of court settlement as judgement. "Unfortunately, up till now, you have neither responded to issues addressed to you in multiple letters nor called the contending interests for the SW zonal and Ogun State excos for reconciliation. Rather, you arbitrarily in league with your recent PDP National leadership litigations allies; recognised a disbanded SW exco by a subsisting court order and include flagrant disobedience to court judgements unappealed and recent orders of court illegally chose to dissolve the Ogun excos. Why didn't you call the parties in dispute over the SW zonal and Ogun state excos as you did to those in disputes over Oyo, Osun and Lagos states? Is there no disputes in Ekiti and Ondo states with consequent parallel excos? Why didn't you dissolve the Ekiti state exco? Is Ekiti PDP exco monolithic without any rancour? Ditto Ondo State exco?" Kashamu asked. |
Tears rented the faces of all Muslim faithfuls who were at the Eid praying ground in Ijebu Igbo, atikori area to be precise. A lorry, loaded with logs of wood ran into the crowd which were preparing to make their annual Eid Prayer on Salah day. Sons and daughters of the town have been condemning the lorry driver and praying to God Almighty to never allow a recurrence. Honourable Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale is the latest son of the soil to send his heartfelt condolence message to the deceased and injured victims. The honourable, while speaking from his country home in Ijebu Igbo, described the incident as a terrible and heart breaking one. He said 'the incident which took place at Ijebu Igbo Eid Prayer ground on salah day was so painful. I am not feeling so comfortable up till this moment because it is still so difficult to bear. I pray God Almighty grants the deceased families, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant the other victims a quick recovery'. On the 1st of September, a timber lorry was reported to have lost control, thereby, ran into a mammoth crowd preparing to pray at the Ijebu Igbo Muslim Praying Ground. |
HE Sen Makarfi. The Chairman. PDP National caretaker committee. Wadata Plaza. Abuja. Mr Chairman, THE NEED TO ADHERE TO THE RULE OF LAW ON PDP OGUN STATE & SW ZONAL EXCOS ISSUES: I'm without choice than to write to advise you again, when I learnt that you're planning another national convention for December despite the avalanche of disobedience of court orders during your planning of the last convention with the attending vissitudes such illegal actions have created. Could it be that, unknown to me, the PDP National caretaker committee has assumed appellate jurisdiction over Nigerian high courts? Infact, I wish to also think that you're not deliberating working with your caretaker members to destroy the PDP in the SW and particularly Ogun state. Otherwise, one is left to wonder why ordinarily easy and righteous reconcillatory steps are difficult for you to take. Rather, you increasingly complicated the matters for no logical reasons other than extreme self interests and parochial repayments for support of your stand, or lack of same; during your National leadership tussle with Sheriff. Even if you're to be egocentric, though that's unfortunate; must it be this total as to disregard and seek to deliberately circumvent the rule of law and possibly destroy the party in the whole of the SW zone? Should you by the benevolence of Allah, become the President of the federal republic, is this how you would handle national and intra-zonal disputes? Quite honestly, I appreciate that politics is an interplay of contending interests but these must be within structured regulations and laws of the country. You glaringly nurture a presidential ambition as well as Sheriff, which understandably both of you are denying, awaiting the right moments. That's why I had nothing personal against you for fighting up to the supreme court for matters dear to your perception. However, upon your judicial victory, it absurdly unthinkable for you to be acting as if others have no such rights. The truth is that, only transparent fairness by the arbiter that can discourage parties to disputes from resorting to litigations if their law abiding and capable of standing for their rights. In the present PDP SW circumstances sir, you have been unfairly partisan and economic with the truth in your handling of the matter. Several letters had been written to you by the legitimate SW zonal exco and that of Ogun State. Details of subsisting orders and judgements of competent courts of jurisdiction were clearly stated. It is to be expected of you to have verified the validity and subsistence of these legal processes if indeed you're law abiding and a leader given to administratively respecting the rule of law. Reasonably, it is upon this initial due diligence that you could now fairly and honestly settle the issues in dispute out of court. Thus, such credible reconciliation could then be filed in the courts as out of court settlement as judgement. Unfortunately, uptil now, you have neither responded to issues addressed to you in multiple letters nor called the contending interests for the SW zonal and Ogun state excos for reconciliation. Rather, you arbitrarily in league with your recent PDP National leadership litigations allies; recognised a disbanded SW exco by a subsisting court order and include flagrant disobedience to court judgements unappealed and recent orders of court illegally chose to dissolve the Ogun excos. Why didn't you call the parties in dispute over the SW zonal and Ogun state excos as you did to those in disputes over Oyo, Oshun and Lagos states? Is there no disputes in Ekiti and Ondo states with consequent parallel excos? Why didn't you dissolve the Ekiti state exco? Is Ekiti PDP exco monolithic without any rancour? Ditto Ondo state exco? Mr Chairman of PDP National caretaker committee; I'm not against you!!! It's your leadership which is suffocating the truth and legitimate rights of teeming party men in the SW and particularly Ogun state that makes me often to be advising you. These actions of yours could lead to chaos and breakdown of law and order in the SW if care is not taken and luckily, by God's providence, the injured parties chose to be law abiding by resorting to the courts instead of resorting to self help. Prior to the last convention, orders of court were served on you and the National caretaker committee to ensure that the authentic delegates from the SW as well as from Ogun state be allowed to participate. I appealed to you personally that you should obey the court orders to which you gave me your words to respect by being law abiding. Also those interested in the enforcement of their rights via the court orders wrote you and further sent emissaries to you for adherence to law, but you chose to disobey these subsisting orders. Not satisfied with the avoidable contempt of court, your caretaker committee lied to the NEC and subsequently misdirected the said convention which was constituted in disenfranchised rights of authentic delegates into taking illegal decisions. The illegal SW exco was recognised and the Ogun state exco was illegally dissolved!!! Is this right? Also, a disciplinary committee was set up ostensibly fed with lies and inaccurate facts of the issues to discipline these disenfranchised law abiding party men. Can this serve the course of justice and fairness? Is the Tom Ikimi disciplinary committee properly briefed of your disobedience of court order? Is that disciplinary committee aware of the subsisting judgements you acted in flagrant disregard of? What do you want the interested and disenfranchised parties to do other than petition the police and resort to the courts? Nobody is challenging your leadership but it seems the constituted disciplinary committee would need to evaluate your administrative circumvent of truth and disobedience of court orders to realise if at all there is any member to discipline as per the SW zonal and Ogun state excos matters. Unfortunately Mr Chairman, you and the caretaker committee are becoming part of the SW disputes rather than the arbiters. Self interests has brought you into the arena of disputes. What indeed do you know about the intricate nature of Ogun State and the SW generally, other than perceptions and informations fed you, through national interactions with some few personalities for some years? Your reliance on the agenda of Fayose, Omisore, OGD, Bode George etc being your few SW allies during your struggle for the National control of our party can't achieve the desired party unity. Worse still, it casts credibility doubts on your capability for National leadership and fairness required generally required for upright and credible statesmanship. These people are unreliable except that which serves their selfishness and they are alien to democratic processes. They have grown to relevance by democratic manipulations that are always predetermined. They are work-to-answers undemocratic elements. They always desire to be in control irrespective of the wish of the people and due process; which script they've sold to you and you're now playing. Had it not been for the love I have for PDP and my avowed commitment to my supporters and followers, I would have liked to leave you with these political hawks so as to learn lessons from an imminent dose of treachery and betrayal they've in abundance. Or else, what is to be said of the institutional schemer, legendary manipulator and pathological lier - OGD; aspiring to succeed you as the National Chairman!!! OGD that thrives on commission from any and whatever political engagements without qualms? OGD that can do multiple contradictory things concurrently? With capacity to make a U-turn at jet speed of 1000miles/hr without a summersault!!! Is it Fayose, the psychiatric political dreamer; unable to administer a state well and yet aspiring to be President of Nigeria against the tide of popular zoning arrangements? Mr Chairman, we indeed have not much of problems in the Southwest and Ogun state except the complications caused by your desired resolve to compensate your locally unpopular supporters during your litigations against Sheriff. Aside of rhetorics, adherence to laws of this country is not by choice of electives. It is mandatory and compulsory. If you can't endear an all-inclusive reconciliation, you therefore, compulsorily must abide by the Nigerian judicial process that interestingly enabled you to occupy the position that makes you to now determine the fate of others. Consequently, I most sincerely appeal that you do the right things and adhere to the rule of law for reconciliation of these crisis instead of current efforts that are opaque and complicates matters. Otherwise, without prejudice, interested parties shall have no alternative than to turn to the police for protection as law-abiding Nigerians while redress is being sought at the courts. That's the right, sensible and civilised way to go. That's the kind of leadership I can provide. I am unlike OGD that ruled over a state-induced theatre of cultists, thuggery and monumental destructions to lives and properties. Still talking of build-up to our resolve to involve police and stick to judicial adjucation; a longstanding OGD ally has just recently been discovered to have sponsored the purchase of over dozen guns in the course of police investigations of recently instigated political assassination attempt. We're law abiding sir. We won't maim or kill ourselves nor burn our houses or destroy properties over your deliberate leadership manipulations against us and serial disobedience of court orders and judgements. Thank you. Yours sincerely, Sen Kashamu. |

Only a dancer who dances moderately dances for long; an immoderate dancer courts shame. Prayers are indeed better than curses. If a prayer is not more than the tip of a finger nail, it is better than a basket full of courses. Today, thousands of people from the twenty local government areas in Ogun State thronged out to the residence of Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu to receive their salah gifts. The food and cash gifts which included; packs of rice, noodles, rams and lots more were distributed to the mammoth crowd that mounted the nooks and crannies of the lawmaker's compound towards celebrating the Eid el Kabir. The activity, which the hardworking Lawmaker was well known for even before becoming a Senator is one of its kind as it is majorly aimed at the less privileged whose hopes of having a splendid salah celebration might have been dashed or curtailed. According to some of those who were beneficiaries of the Senator's kind gestures today, they likened Senator Kashamu to an Angel who was specially designated God to give joy to the sorrowful ones. They thereby, implored other rich and famous politicians to emulate the never tiring lawmaker by putting a smile on the faces of their people when the need arises. Kashamu's kind gestures they say, is not limited to giving out gift items alone. Rather, he has been able to also help those with financial problems. This, they said, did not in anyway affect the Senator's overall performance as a lawmaker as he ensured that nothing overrides his primary assignment. They prayed to God Almighty, to grant good health unto Kashamu and replenish his pockets so he could help more. Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu is the lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Abuja. |
My attention has been drawn to the letter written to the Inspector General of Police, IGP by Mr Gbenga Daniel on the assassination attempt to his life by Distinguished Senator Buruji Kashamu. Let me start by putting this posers to him 1. An assassin has no two assignment than to kill, however in your hush hush story, you said your self acclaimed assassin work up to one of your police guards on duty and eventually locked him in a toilet were he placed his gun. And the same gun was used to chase the assassins without any casualties. By now the Nigeria Police should have investigated and check on the said toilet roof in order to put this cooked story to rest, though I don't know the place in question, but I am 100% sure the toilet roof is concrete. 2. He also said after the shooting, nobody was caught and no one in the neighborhood heard the gun shoot, which police station was the case reported and at what time? That reminds me back in 2003, when you were contesting as governor; you sent your boys to deface all your bill boards across Sagamu Siun expressway and the state capital in particular in order to discredit the then state Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba. Eventually you got people's sympathy. But on the issue at hand, for over 6years that you lost out to the present Governor of Ogun State; your name kept dwindling and fading out due to the enormous atrocities committed by you and on your behalf. The only legacy Ogun state people remembered you for is cultism and political assassination. For instance in Sagamu local government, Najeko and one of his younger brother from same parents were killed same day in Sagamu during your tenure. Mr Daniel, don't forget during your inglorious tenure as Governor of Ogun State, you sent your criminally minded boys to kidnap the then Senatorial Chairman of PDP in Ogun East, Chief Agboola Alausa. Equally on a day preceding your election in 2003, my humble self Otunba Kola Akinyemi, Alhaji Age Animasaun; the then leading leader of PDP in Sagamu LG, Alhaji Agboola Alausa and Chief Bayode Oluwole, were with you around 10pm and you quarrel with Chief Bayode Oluwole on why Alhaji Age was the one who brought Chief Alausa and not him. Today, Alhaji Age Animasaun Omo lemomu is no more, and no one could tell his whereabout whether dead or living after the hot argument he had with you. As at that time, Alhaji Age Animasaun was the one behind Col. Soda's governorship ambition. If not because he danced to your tune, you would have lost that governorship ticket. Again I say, where is Age today. A gruesome murder of Yomi Mighty was witnessed near Major Thompson's junction in front of Madam Adetu's house GRA by your killer squad. As at then, Mr Daniel has 15 man squad in which Mr Jamiu Olododo is one of them, who kidnapped a vice chancellor at Olabisi Onabanjo University; Prof. Olatunji Oyeneye and kept him at an uncompleted building at Isote in Sagamu LG. Today, where is Gbolahan Akodu who was killed by the killer squad of Mr Gbenga Daniel. Sometimes on 8th January 2005, the Nigerian Tribune published an assassination attempt on me by Mr Gbenga Daniel and his boys back then. For the readers information, before Mr Gbenga Daniel came on board, there was nothing like cultism in Sagamu local government, but since he came in the political system; mechanics, okada riders and vulcanizers became cultists and he kept handing sophisticated guns over to them. As at then, Alhaji Samson Apelogun the now chairman of ACOMORAN in Ogun State was working for him. This same Samson killed a human being at Sabo market junction and the gun was retrieved from him the then Nigeria Police Area Commander in Sagamu, Olukolu. Thereafter, the DPO of Sagamu then Shehu was asked to take possession of the gun on the instruction of Mr Gbenga Daniel. Sometimes in 2010, when Omoilu Foundation was being accepted in Ogun state as empowerment organization, on several occasion, we were invited at the police station and Shehu was still then the DPO and Mr Jamiu Olododo shot sporadically in the station premises. Knowing fully well that, he has the backing of Mr Gbenga Daniel. He was however called to order by the commissioner of police after I placed a call to the commissioner and he was cautioned by Mr Shehu, the then DPO. Unfortunately, in November 2009; I was attacked at my residence by 17 of Mr Gbenga Daniel's boys in order to assassinate me. And the leader of the gang back then was Jamiu Olododo and fortunately for me, I recognised 7 of the gang and the case was reported at Sagamu police station and I forwarded a petition to the force headquarters in Abuja. Those in charge of the case back then were CP Olusegun, CP Balogun, the 1st Personal Assistant to the IG; AC Abubakar and CSP Baba. Thereafter, I was given police interim investigation and the gang were arrested. The future generation millionaires that were killed in Sagamu because of cultism were more than 200. Ever since I know Senator Buruji Kashamu for close to a decade now, he found it difficult to kill an ant and not to talk of a rat. As a matter of fact, anytime there was a disagreement with Sen. Kashamu and myself and whoever, he always stopped so low to call the other person for settlement; unlike Mr Daniel who would be looking for a way to retaliate or take a pan of flesh off the person. Mr Gbenga Daniel thought when he fabricate lies of this nature against Senator Kashamu he would gain sympathy. Not knowing that, people of Ogun state still remembers the havoc he committed during his devilish tenure as governor. Thank God for the heavy security around Sen. Kashamu, he would have killed him a long time ago. Kudos to the present governor in Ogun state for providing adequate security as people can now sleep with their two eyes closed. Now, Mr Gbenga Daniel, you claimed you are from Sagamu and that you were born on April 1956 and I Otunba Kolawole Akinyemi was born 3 March 1957. Who were your mate in Sagamu? Which primary school did you attend and who were your playmates back then?. I could recollect we do play football, and sometimes rode in motorcycles' spoke with sticks and sometimes table tennis back then; who exactly did you play with? I attended St Paul primary school Makun and Mrs Funmi Ogunyanwo was my classmate and now a First bank manager. The Oje Family in which you claimed to belong to in Sagamu and the 2 bedroom flat you built there now house rats and scorpions. Even the very one you buried your father was bought 7 years ago and not inherited. The Abraham Tabernacle's has a tomb of Fatai Aina's brother despite the fact that the house has certificate of occupancy, you revoked it and took possession. Even the Asoludero court you built at GRA Sagamu were meant for Court Justices back then. That also remind me when you came newly to the political scene in Pa Awosanya's house I was a supporter of Col. Soda I told you I don't belong to those who called you bastard; but your lineage is doubtful. After your 8year as governor, you destroyed the platform of PDP for others and you formed PPN, it failed, you went to Labour Party, you equally failed and before you came to PDP you were a member of AD. Senator Kashamu stood firm in PDP and kept spending his hard earned money to mobilise into the party without contemplating of leaving for once. And you claimed to be carrying reconciliation without him, you guys are total failure. Makarfi caretaker is dead on arrival in Ogun state. Sen Kashamu remains the south west mobilization chairman of PDP. Makarfi's victory at the supreme court has nothing to do with Ogun state structure and stop rejoicing on what does not exist. Mr Gbenga Daniel, you will soon be jailed for giving false information to the public. When you visited Hon Daisi Akitan's house around 11pm sometimes ago and he invited Vigilante that an armed robber is in his compound; we blamed him then not knowing that, that was one of the gimmicks you thought them and using same for you. Likewise Mrs Josephine Makanjuola framed me that I sent hired killers to her house few months ago; and when she was arrested and interrogated, she confessed that, it was thieves that came and subsequently at the DSS office, she confessed it was a lie. Fellow Nigerians, all what I said were the truth and nothing but the truth and if anything happen to me thereafter, Mr Gbenga Daniel should be held responsible. I am however, imploring the Inspector General of Police, Director of DSS and AIG Zone 2 and the Commissioner of Police Ogun state and director of DSS in Ogun state to take drastic action on this matter before it gets out of hand. Thank you. I remain, Otunba Kolawole Akinyemi, aka Tonight. |
RE: FAYOSE, HIS ILLEGALITIES AND SOUTH WEST PDP INTRODUCTION Let me begin by commending the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the maturity and candour with which it has conducted party affairs since the Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the national leadership tussle. It should be recalled that in my congratulatory message to the national leadership of our party, I said how it handles party issues and manage the victory, going forward, would go a long way in determining its success or otherwise. THE ISSUE My attention has been drawn to a purported South West PDP leaders’ meeting held today, 7th August, 2017 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital under the guidance of some impostors parading themselves as the South West Zonal Executives of our party. This came just as I was inundated with calls on the publication of the names of one Eddy Olafeso and a certain Bunmi Jenyo as members of standing and sub-committees for the national convention. In the publication, Olafeso and Jenyo were named as Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the PDP in the South West. At the Ibadan gathering, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose took the stage and used it as a platform to launch all manner of attacks against my person. He purportedly spoke of plans to expel me from the party. He did not stop at that, he sent out leaders and members of the party whom he accused of being “Sheriff’s people”. Not satisfied and apparently realizing his incapacity, he goaded the meetinginto reaching some laughable decisions wherein they would purportedly desist from dealing with me at both the zonal or state level. Although I know that he lacks the wherewithal to pull through his wishes, let me quickly state that I am not afraid of any expulsion. I am a man whom the Almighty Allah has blessed and who has made a name before I joined politics. And I will continue to be relevant, in and out of party politics. The truth is: besides the illegality of their so-called resolutions, I do not need the association of Fayose and his cohorts. It is Fayose and his gang that should be avoided by our people. They should run from him for his ignoble role in the N13.5 billion arms funds scandal and for setting our party and region on a collision course with the rest of the country. He has since been declared a persona non grata and unfit among reasonable and right-thinking members of the society. The purported resolutions against me by these political harlots are at best a comic-relief of no consequence whatsoever. Fayose and his lackeys are better known for their duplicitous flirtations which borders on the politics of bread and butter. They are a hungry lot who are ruled and blindfolded by inordinate ambition. Besides, their action shows that Fayose and his minions are either strangers in the party or ignorant of the party’s Constitution, or both. Otherwise, they would have known that Article 57 (7) of the Constitution of PDP states, “Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee at any level, except the National Executive Com mittee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governors or members of the National Assembly.” The illegal group being promoted by Fayose through Olafeso and Jenyo are contemnors who will soon face the consequences of their actions; except reason and justice prevail. In a ruling delivered in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/605/2016 on the 17th of May, 2016, the Federal High Court, Lagos, specifically nullified the jamboree they held in Akure which they called the South West Zonal Congress. Till date, the order has neither been set aside nor upturned on appeal. The court said, “That an order is granted nullifying the South West congress conducted on the 14th of May, 2016 in Akure, which was so conducted in defiance of the order of this court made in this action on the 11th of May 2016 restraining the 2nd, 3rd and 4thDefendants from conducting or permitting or recognizing any election into the offices of the South West Zonal Executive Committee pending the hearing and determination of the Originating Summons…Everything built on actions in defiance of a court order is a nullity.” (See Annexure SW/PDP 1) Furthermore, in a final judgment delivered on the court categorically stated, “That an order is granted to the Plaintiff restraining the 2nd, 3rd and 4thDefendants from conducting or permitting or recognizing any election into the offices of the South West Zonal Executive Committee until October, 2018, when the four years term of the current officers, including the Plaintiff would have been spent. “That an order is granted to the Plaintiff directing the 1st Defendant not to recognize any other persons apart from the current officers of the South West Zonal Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party as set out in the result sheet for Zonal Congress for election of Zonal Executive members dated the 11th of October, 2014 until their four year term expires in October, 2018.” (See Annexure SW/PDP 2) Now, the background to the judicial intervention was that Fayose and his gang of delinquents sought to truncate the four year tenure of the Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe-led Zonal Executive Committee in the build up to the 2016 National Convention. What is more, as at the time they allegedly held what they called the zonal congress on the 14th of May, 2016, it was common knowledge that the congresses in Lagos, Oyo and Osun states were still being disputed. Those who attended from Ogun State were not the authentic delegates under the leadership of the State Chairman, Engr. Adebayo Dayo. In essence, the kangaroo zonal congress was conducted by delegates from just Ondo and Ekiti states. ON FAYOSE’S TANTRUMS Ordinarily, I would not have dignified Fayose with a response since everybody knows him as a depressed loudmouth who is suffering from what the legendary Chief Gani Fawehinmi would describe as “mouth diarrhoea”. He is nothing but an opportunist and a political scavenger whose night time will soon come. Fayose drove out people he called pro-Sheriff from a PDP meeting and maligned me. I am not the least surprised. He has done it to many of his benefactors like me and I won’t be the last. He wants to be the “alpha and omega” of the PDP in the South West, whether by hook or crook. But he forgets that leadership is not compelled; it is earned. And he does not have what it takes to lead the PDP even in Ekiti State, let alone the South West. For now, he can only aspire and pretend to the leadership. In a couple of months, the Pharaoh that we see today, we shall him no more. CONCLUSION I wish to urge our teeming supporters and respectable leaders and elders in the South West PDP not to be dismayed by Fayose’s threats and antics. It is an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise. Sooner than later, water will find its level and men will be separated from the boys. And like I said in my congratulatory message to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee on its victory, the national leadership of our party has a duty to be forthright and strong. It must respect and uphold the Rule of Law – the very principle that sustained it in office. Anything short of this would be an invitation to impunity and lawlessness which cannot stand. The authentic and recognized South West Zonal Exco is the one led by Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe which the court has affirmed. Signed Senator Buruji Kashamu Ogun East Senatorial District 7th August, 2017 |
Ijebu Igbo, the hometown of Distinguish Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu weny agog as the Senatorial Team of Ogun East PDP touched down as part of its local government tour exercise. A good number of party faithfuls from different areas of the local government trooped out in their numbers to welcome the team led by Hon Daisi Akintan, the Ogun East Senatorial Chairman and other well meaning leaders of the party, among which were ; Enginner Bayo Dayo (Ogun State PDP Chairman) Hon Abdul Majid Adesegum Adekoya (Member, Federal House of Representatives) Hon Bowale Solaja (Member, Ogun State House of Assembly) Chief Mrs Tuke Omotara (Ijebu North Local Govt Chairperson) Hon Folarin Akintunde a.k.a Elewedu Alhaji M.B Eedris Mr Leke Shittu (Coordinator, Omo Ilu Foundation, Ogun State Chapter) Alhaja Akibu Oriyomi Irorunola (Ogun East Senatorial Women Leader) Hon Sylvester Abiodun (Slykoko) Hon Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale (S O S) Chief Mrs Tuke Omotara in her opening remark, welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked them all for yielding to the party's call. She prayed that God Almighty in His Majesty would continue to uplift and uphold them in all their endeavors. Hon Bowale Solaja, a member of Ogun State House of Assembly swiftly gave the account of how things were in the State. He further stated that at a particular time, he'll call for a general meeting where he shall be submitting the report and score card of his eight years adventure at the house of assembly complex. Hon Daisi Akintan, Ogun East Senatorial Chairman, explained in clear terms, the situation of PDP in Ogun State. The eloquent communicator noted that the party executives in the District agrees with the Supreme Court Judgement which confirmed Sen Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic National Chairman. He emphatically stated that the judgement does not in anyway affect the State, Local Government and Ward Excos in Ogun State. He urged everyone to stay calm and firm as the end to the game is near. Hon Akintan vehemently reiterated that the issue is a settled one, noting that there is no other faction in Ogun State other than that of Engr Bayo Dayo, the only Chairman that has the key to the party Secretariat in Abeokuta. This, he said, should be enough to sensitize the people on the path to follow. In his own speech, Hon AbdulMajid Adesegun Adekoya (attacker) said everything has been put in place to ensure that no one tampers with justice in Ogun State PDP. He noted that the recent crisis that was resolved was between two National Leaders, Sen Ahmed Makarfi and Sen Ali-Modu Sheriff. However, Makarfi's victory should not be misinterpreted as some people go about bragging that the victory has also ascertained their victory in the State. According to the lawmaker, if anyone has a contrary view to the present judgement on Ogun State PDP Exco, such individual or group is implored to visit the appeal Court and peradventure, the Supreme court. Until that is done and the former judgement is perhaps set aside, as in the Makarfi's case, the Engr Bayo Dayo Led Executives remains valid and intact. The State Chairman, Engr Bayo Dayo put final touches by preaching peace among party members. He identified the task ahead as a very hard one but simple, if there is unity. Engr Bayo Dayo said the only way to make Ogun State and Nigeria a better place for its Inhabitants is to return power to the PDP come 2019. |
These certainly are not the best of times for members of the family of Mr. Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun State over alleged visible display of anger and worrisome attitude that are feared to be symptomatic of mental illness. Sharpedgenews.com gathered that Mr. Daniel, with a questionable chieftancy title of Otunba spares nobody or object in sight, when overwhelmed by fits of brain waves. And workers at his news stable of Nigerian Compass Mail, particularly journalists , are now victims of Daniel’s inexplicable madness. According to sources around Gbenga Daniel, a simple protest of non-payment of salaries and other outstanding allowances recently triggered the ex-Governor to write hapless policemen over a matter that was purely an industrial dispute. Family insiders say that they fear Daniel may be haunted by some atrocities commited while calling tht shots as a governor. He is said to hallucinate and be schizophrenic. The workers Sharpedgenews.com gathered had assembled themselves at the premises of the Compass Newspaper to demand payment of backlog of unpaid. The top management of the newspaper outfit we learnt informed the owner, Otunba Gbenga Daniel who gave the order for invitation of security operatives to quell the workers’ uprising. Sharpedgenews.com was also told that in the ensuing melee many of the protesters were hurt when the security operatives began firing tear-gas canisters and rubber-bullets. Further investigation revealed that the former Governor since leaving office in May 2011 has not been able to meet up with the financial responsibilities of the newspaper outfit. A source told Sharpedgenews.com that already the salaries of the workers have been slashed into half of what they should normally get. The source further added that apart from the fact that the salaries of the workers have been slashed, they have not been paid for months. The source added that the former Governor of the Gateway State may be broke because he is no longer in government and unfortunately for him, his candidate did not win the April polls in the State. “He no longer has access to free money”, said a source. Sharpedgenews.com also discovered that Nigerian Compass’s sister publication known as The Westerner has since disappeared from the newsstands because of the current financial position of Gbenga Daniel’s awkward financial predicament, as he can no longer run the two titles simultaneously like he used to when he was in government. Investigation by Sharpedgenews.com shows that most of the workers who had been initially seduced to work with the newspaper are now regretting their decisions as they can no longer pull out. |

Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale, SOS as he is fondly called by his friends, political associates, family and loved-ones was born over fifty years ago to the family of Mr and Mrs Sobowale both from the popular Ijebu Igbo township. He attended St. Andrew Catholic Primary School,Erigboro via Ijebu Igbo. St. Joseph Catholic Primary School, later Victory College,Ikeja Lagos State.Later re-registered for the Private Examination (GCE) with good grades. Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale was a pioneer member of our great party,People Democratic Party(PDP). And he has never for once decamped or leave the party for another one, even at the time there were disagreements between leaders of the party. S.O.S has played a vital role in the electioneering process in our locality from time being, and that makes him a grassroot mobiliser,an astute politician, and a core humanitarian fellow. He had headed numerous political offices at the party level, which had tested his capacity and proven trusted with the numerous positions he held in the past which include: Vice Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Ward 06,INLG. Chairman,Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Ward 06,INLG. Coordinator of Mobilization,Organization and Contact Committee,INLG. Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale, was the first PDP councillorship candidate,Ward 06 in 1998 but lost out due to PDP/AD syndrome that brought in the Aremo Olusegun Osoba led administration in Ogun State. Without relenting on his ambition, he was motivated by well wishers to contest for the Chairmanship of Ijebu North Local Government in 2012. But due to some unforseen circumstances,he was appealed to by leaders of the our great party which he heeded to their plea as an obedient servant he has been from time being despite the fact that he his the most popular candidate on ground to win the election then. But in terms of popularity, and mobilising the grass-root for the realisation of his ambition,he has not been seconded to anyone. He had not because of the happenings in the party over time disown or disengage his loyalty to the party, and most especially his loyalty and believe to the course of our national leader, the Southwest leader of the party and the Distinguished Senator representing the Ogun East Senatorial District,Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu is with great passion. That was what inspired him to re-contest the Chairmanship election in 2016 but due to the dictatorial attitude of the present APC led administration, the entire good people of Ogun State were robbed of their mandate. One with God is a majority. Sunday Onabanjo Sobowale has always put his trust in the most High, and has left all battle to the hands of his Creator. A man of high instinct and respectful loyal member of our dear party. He is happily married with children.

Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly" Sequel upon the recent brouhaha which had led to the closure of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) for nearly three months, the National Association of Polytechnic Students has appealed to the Lagos State Government to kindly reverse its harsh decision on the matter. The Association through the VP External Affairs, Comrade Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye urged the State Government to consider the students. He said the ongoing crisis between the Management and Staffs of the Institution will serve as a big blow to the students as they (the students of the school) will be at the receiving end. He further stated that where two elephants lock horns, the grass suffers most. He therefore implores the Management of the School to withdraw the Security Agencies which are planted at the School's entrance to intimidate the Students. He described the act as being barbaric and opaque. The Academic Staff Union and the Non Academic Staff Union were also appreciated for their peaceful co existence from time immemorial. Following the antecedents of the Lagos State Government under the able supervision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, we know he surely can do something about this. We urge him to intervene as a father and we shall be glad he did. Signed : Comrade Ijaduoye Olasunkanmi NAPS VP External Affairs Comrade Sobowale Olayinka NAPS Director of Media and Publicity |

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu has condemned the sacked Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee over its call on party members to defect to other parties. In a statement he issued today (Wednesday) in Abuja, Kashamu said such a statement amounted to anti-party activities and urged party faithful to ignore it. The statement reads, “I read with utter disbelief the statement credited to the sacked self-styled National Caretaker Committee of our party that our members should seek alternative platforms to seek elections as a result of the pending appeal at the Supreme Court. Such a statement is not well-thought out, self-serving and antithetical to the principles of party politics and internal democracy. “The contradiction lies in the fact that the same people who have gleefully disobeyed valid and subsisting orders and judgments of courts are hoping that the Supreme Court will turn its eye to their defiant disobedience of court orders and judgments and award them victory. Their latest position has shown that they do not believe in the strength of their case or they were merely hell-bent on hijacking the structure of the party or destroy it all together, or both. “While it is true that a political party is an organization made up of people who voluntarily joined and could voluntarily exit, that a call to decimate the PDP could come from those who seek to lead it leaves much to be desired. It is most reprehensible when it is realized that the call is coming from those who had benefitted so much from the PDP as governors, ministers and lawmakers. “I dare say that their posture has not only shown their state of mind but it has also exposed them for who they are. It has shown that contrary to their claims, Senator Makarfi and his co-travellers never really had the interest of the PDP at heart. They have not conducted themselves as true party men. If they were true party men, they would never seek to throw away the baby with the bath water. “There is no perfect relationship or organization anywhere. People, especially politicians, are bound to agree and disagree. We disagree, negotiate and build consensus. You do not say because you did not have your way in the struggle for the control of the party structure, and then the party must be destroyed. We are all members of the same body – the PDP – and there can only be one National Chairman and National Working Committee (NWC) at a time. “It is irrelevant whether it is Senator Sheriff or Senator Makarfi that is in charge of the party at the moment. Now that the Court of Appeal has pronounced Senator Sheriff as the authentic National Chairman of our party, the most important thing is who emerges as the National Chairman, going forward and the process leading thereto. “However, there are many other positions that the party can offer deserving members and leaders. For instance, one cannot be a senator and governor, minister or President at the same time. It is the PDP leaders in our various state chapters and local government areas that decide who gets nominated for chairmanship and councillorship positions in our localities. No PDP leader will sit in Abuja to do that; and no one should seek to propagate a winner-take-all situation.” Kashamu said he was surprised at the Makarfi group’s call, wondering what would happen if it wins at the apex court. “As a true party man, I have consistently stated that I am for Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as much as I am for Senator Ahmed Makarfi. They are both our leaders who have paid their dues in politics, public and party administration. Whoever wins the ongoing leadership tussle should be accepted by all and sundry. Today, the courts have looked at the issues and pronounced Senator Sheriff as our National Chairman. Since the judgment of the Court of Appeal, many of the PDP governors and their followers who were in support of the sacked National Caretaker Committee have since retraced their steps. Senator Makarfi and the recalcitrant few should respect the court from which they seek respite and accept the status quo. If tomorrow, Senator Makarfi wins the appeal at the Supreme Court, so be it. No one can ask me to leave the PDP or ‘seek alternative platforms’ just because the table has turned,” he added. Kashamu therefore urged party faithful to discountenance the Senator Makarfi group’s call to defect and support the Senator Sheriff-led national leadership of the party towards fielding viable candidates for the PDP in the various local government elections and other round of elections. He advised party members to actively participate in all the processes leading to the organization of an all-embracing national convention (once the case at the Supreme Court is done with) where all the interests of the contending groups will be accommodated. |

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. The National Association of Polytechnic Students under the able coordination of Comrade Gbenga Adeyeye through the office of the NAPS VP External Affairs, Comrade Ijaduoye Olasunkanmi Adetoye wishes all Nigerian students home and abroad a happy new month. Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. As this new month of April 2017 begins, here are our wishes for you: May this month bring you satisfaction, peace and joy. May all the desires of your heart be granted. May this be the beginning of new things in your life. Stay strong, be positive and fulfill your dreams “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” It is therefore pertinent for us to address some ill manners and attitudes in Nigerian Institution of today especially the polytechnics which some Rectors had nearly drowned it's glowing image. It is pathetic that Nigerian students had been unconsciously put to severe punishment. Their rights had been infringed upon and they loudly cried out help to the necessary quarters. “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” The National Association of Polytechnic Student therefore airs out a strict warning to Rectors who had for their own benefit received school fees and JAMB regularisation twice from students. Thieves may lay siege for donkey years but the owner catches up in a flash. The Association deeply frowns at this barbaric acts which is as a result of managerial inepitude and covetousness. We therefore advise all concerned rectors to desist from such acts now or receive a worldwide embsrrasment as we shall not hesitate to print their names out for the whole world to see. A word they say, is enough for the wise. Once again, we wish you all a happy and successful new month. The National Association of Polytechnic Students in Nigeria has condemned the barbaric act of the Chinese in Noida, near Delhi. The attack, from a reliable source was as a result of the death of a local teenager due to drug overdose which his parent claimed the Nigerian students were responsible for. Five Nigerian students were attacked on Monday by crowds, while another was beaten by a mob inside a shopping mall. The NAPS in a swift response through its Media Director, Comrade Olayinka Sobowale condemned the attack and called on the Chinese Police to investigate the absurd act of their citizens. According to the press release by NAPS, it likened the attack to the resurgent xenophobia attack in South Africa which it described as a result of racial discrimination. The association however called for strict legal actions on those involved. It reiterated that this can bring about a broken relationship between Nigeria. A student in Noida, Alkahba Solomon had earlier told the BBC that the situation was not "favourable for Nigerian students". We hereby urge the Nigerian government under the leadership of President Buhari to see into this and render a helping hand to the Nigerian Students in China before the situation goes beyond culpable leNAPS Signed : Comrade Olasunkanmi Ojaduoye NAPS Vice President 08063350178 Comrade Olayinka Sobowale NAPS Media and Publicity Director 08167184870 |

There is no doubt that right now the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has become notoriously incompetent, professionally inefficient and the ranks and file have almost successfully turned the nation's policing institution into another failed national asset due largely to large scale and widespread cases of corruption among the top hierarchy and gross indiscipline among most operatives who interface on daily basis with the citizenry. There is also no gainsaying the fact that in a situation of the total collapse of the nation's policing institution, the ordinary members of the public are the people who bear the brunt of this spectacular inefficiency and crass incompetence. It was therefore in a bid to prevent this calamity that has now befallen the nation's police that the framers of the 1999 constitution (as amended) clearly provides for the establishment of a police force as enshrined in section 214(1). The police Act, which is an Act to make provisions for the organization, discipline, powers and duties of the police, the special constabulary and the traffic wardens of April 1st 1943, some basic duties and powers were assigned to the Nigeria police force. In part two of the police Act which specifically provides that the police shall be employed for among others, the prevention and detection of crime. Article 10 of the police Act stated clearly that operational control of the police is with the President. A careful analysis of the aforementioned duties, functions and powers of the Nigeria police Force shows that operatives of the policing institution ought to be at the forefront of providing efficient and effective internal security of lives and property of the citizenry. But since 1999 when democracy was restored after nearly many decades of military interregnum, the performance of the Nigerian Police Force has been anything but effective or efficient and this professional incompetence and the near-infinite incapacity of operatives and officers of the Nigerian Police Force to effectively detect, prevent and deter crime and criminality has resulted in the unprecedented growth of organized crimes and other deadly manifestations of violence like terrorism leading to the unfortunate high rate of killings of innocent Nigerians by various armed non-state actors; gangsters; kidnappers and other cult groups. The near-collapse of the Nigeria police Force and the total failure of the operatives and officers to discharge their most fundamental constitutional role of internal security has resulted in the unnecessary and widespread deployment of armed soldiers and other security operatives like the State Security Services (SSS) to feel in the void created by policing inefficiency of officers and operatives of the Nigerian police force. Apart from widespread cases of violent crimes such as terrorism in the Northern Nigerian States of Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Plateau, and Bauchi states, armed kidnappers have continuously unleashed mayhem in Southern Nigeria resulting in the abduction for ransom of some high profile Nigerians such as the Lagos-based Senior Advocate of Nigeria Chief Mike Ozekhome and the second most senior clergy in the Nigerian Anglican Communion; Reverend Ignatius Kattey among several other Nigerians. Both of these influential and peace loving Nigerians were picked up by kidnappers and detained in unknown places in Edo and Rivers states and were left off the hook by these armed kidnappers after nearly two weeks of abduction. In the case of Chief Ozekhome, he was only freed when undetermined huge amount of money was paid by his family members to these dare-devil kidnappers. The Anglican Clergyman said he was freed unconditionally. In both of these high profile cases among many others, the Nigerian Police Force failed to discharge its statutory function of crime prevention and enforcement of law and order. As soon as Reverend Kattey was freed in Rivers State by his captors, the police command spokesperson in Port Harcourt falsely claimed that the police played a role in freeing the kidnapped religious leader but this blatant falsehood was debunked by the reverend gentleman. Before returning to the fundamental cause of the gross inefficiency of the Nigeria Police Force and to advocate for the consolidation of the necessary legal framework to give Nigeria a professional policing institution, let us examine the basic reason why impunity has created an atmosphere of lawlessness in most parts of Nigeria. Scholars say that the devaluation of the once traditional and cultural value system attached to the sacredness of human life in Nigeria and the blind pursuit for inordinate wealth at all cost are the underlying reasons for the high crime rate. Few years back during the civilian government of President Olusegun Obasanjo, a special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General on extra-legal executions Mr. Manfred Nowak visited Nigeria and after touring several police detention centers returned a damaging verdict that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force are guilty of routinely committing widespread extra-judicial killings of detainees even before any court of law makes any determination on the charges against them. Recall that Section 36 (5) of the constitution provides that “Every person who is charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed to be innocent until he is proved guilty.” Indiscipline has reached an all time high among members of the police Force to a point that operatives now bribe their way to choice places of posting just as those in a poor financial position to bribe are posted to violent flash points whereby the joint military task force are engaged in warfare with armed Islamic terrorists in the North East. This high level of indiscipline coupled with professional incompetence and corruption especially among the top hierarchy has necessitated widespread advocacy for a comprehensive reforms of this currently deformed and inefficient Nigerian police force. The game of Politics allows members of the public to watch the players closely with keen interest and subsequently form different opinions of them. Therefore, Politicians are either loved or loathed, respected or ridiculed, eulogised or feared by different sections of the community depending on how they are perceived. Senator Buruji Kashamu's timely arrival is indeed a blessing for Nigerian politics and has brought about a shift away from the wrong tradition. While some selfish politicians are always at logger heads with him, most Nigerians never doubted SPBK's vision and sincere humanitarian decisions which is aimed at alleviating poverty and making life more meaningful for the people. He is no doubt, the quintessential political icon of superlative brilliance, merit and repute Nigerians had longed for. With his unprecedented Philanthropic gestures, SPBK had successfully Changed the game for the better in SouthWest. His efforts towards a more United movement for the Yorubas can never be overemphasized, just as he consistently give honours to the worthy leaders across the six SouthWestern states. He is one man who doesn't mind stepping on toes to achieve better lives for the people. #iamVIBRANT
