Women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sagamu local government had on Saturday, 29th of August 2020, debunked a rumour that they have dumped the Party for APC alongside the former women leader in the local government, Mrs. Mojisola Ademola. The declaration was made in a meeting with the Ogun East Senatoral Women leader, Alhaja Bukky Adekunle where the women leaders outrightly dismissed the rumour and reaffirmed their total commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to them, it became imperative to clear the air on the rumoured news. While refuting the news, Mrs. Bukanla Bello confirmed that truly, the Party's women leader in the local government, Mrs. Mojisola Ademola had decamped to the ruling APC but maintained thather decision has absolutely nothing to do with women leaders across the fifteen wards in the local government who are loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, ably led by Chief Samson Bamgbose. "This is to disclaim the rumour going around, that ward women leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sagamu local government have left the Party. This is an absolute fallacy and could only have happened in the imagination of the rumour peddlers. It is absurd that barely three weeks after we lost our distinguished leader, Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu and are still mourning his death, someone somewhere could think of decamping. We condemn the former women leader, Mrs. Mojisola Ademola for taking such inhumane and irrational decision. We do not have such intention. Our loyalty to the Bamgbose-led Exco is unwavering. Ours is to continue doing that which is required of us to ensure progress for the Party", she said. My attention has been drawn to today’s judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos in an appeal filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) against the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court, Lagos, in my favour in a fundamental human rights enforcement suit. Let me state from the outset that contrary to the wrong impression being created by a section of the media, there isn’t any extradition matter against me in any court in Nigeria or abroad. The illegal move surreptitiously introduced by the powers-that-beafter the 2015 abduction plot was exposed has been dismissed. That was in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/479/2015. The suit was dismissed on the 1st of July, 2015, for being an abuse of court process. Anything to the contrary is sheer mischief and over sensationalism by some reporters. As journalists and judicial reporters who are expected to seek and report the truth at all times, they should know that there is NO extradition case against me anywhere. The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice appealed against the judgment of the Federal High Court in the fundamental human rights enforcement matter comprised in Suit No.FHC/L/CS/508/2015 which I had instituted in 2015 upon becoming aware of the surreptitious moves by certain persons to abduct me illegally and transport me to the U.S.A. without recourse to the rule of law. In its judgment in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/508/2015,the Federal High Courtrestrained the Federal Government, its agents and agencies from abducting and forcibly transporting me to the United States of America over the same allegations that two British courts had adjudicated upon and found that to bea case of mistaken identity. So, clearly what was appealed and decided upon by the Court of Appeal today has nothing to do with extradition. Rather, it was about the failed 2015 abduction. Let me reiterate that in the face of the law, I do not have any extradition case to answer. Shun of all political manipulations and wizardry in Nigeria where political opponents pull down people to climb up the political ladder, I do not have any extradition case to answer. I wish to say for the umpteenth time thatthere is no way any extradition proceedingscan be brought against me in the face of the law. What I have been fighting is the attempt to abduct or kidnap me in the guise of an extradition. It is a matter of public record that the purported extradition case that was filed against me in May 2015 was dismissed by the Federal High Court, Abuja, for being an illegality. It could not stand the test of the law. The case could not have seen the light of the day in Nigeria or any civilized country. That was the point the trial judge, the Honourable Justice Gabriel Kolawole made in the judgment when he described the incident as “a show of shame”. He found it incomprehensible that any government official or agency could want to take any step or collaborate with some foreign agents under any guise to perpetrate an illegality after several courts had given judgments against such an action. So, in the face of the law, that case cannot be brought again! Any other talk or insinuations about a non-existent extradition only exists in the imagination of the mischief-makers. Therefore, there cannot be any other extradition but abduction and an illegality. This is even more so when the judgment of the British Courts that found the allegation against me to be a case of mistaken identity was not appealed. If a court of competent jurisdiction has pronounced that I AM NOT the person who committed the offence and same verdict has been upheld by our own courts, there is no way this finding and pronouncements of the court can be jettisoned for illegality. It is this illegality that the Senate frowned at in a resolution passed on the 11th of April, 2017. The Senate through its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions resolved, “That the concerned agencies and authorities be advised to stop threatening or carrying out any activities to extradite Senator BurujiKashamu to the United States of America for prosecution, and that the courts be allowed to handle the various aspects of the case before them without any interference.” Despite the fact that the British courts had exonerated me, I have an abiding faith and believe in our judiciary. We have many people in the judiciary from rich background and reputable families. They do not have to be judicial officers. But, today they are judicial officers because of the call of the Almighty Allah upon them. They sit in courts five days in a week, taking cases and writing judgments upon judgments in long hands. They deny themselves of the freedom that the rest of us enjoy. They cannot have friends and live their lives freely like the rest of us. Invariably, by accepting to do the job most of us cannot do, they are sacrificing a lot. They belong in the class of some of the best and finest men and women that a society can ever ask for; powerful people yet self-effacing with the fear of God. They know that even when they are judges, they are still conscious of the fact that they are also accountable to the Almighty Allah who is the ultimate judge. Despite the imperfections in the system, we should respect them because they represent the unseen hands and unheard voices contributing their quota to the development of our dear country. It is because of these unseen hand and unheard voices that Nigeria has not become a banana republic where injustice can be perpetrated with reckless abandon. Mischief makers and blackmailers should stop all the noise-making. I do not have anything to do with crime and criminalities. Those peddling this lie are merely playing the devil’s advocate. But I take refuge in the Almighty Allah Subwana ta Allah. He is my shepherd and shield. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. In the meantime, my lawyers have filed a Notice of Appeal and a Motion for injunction pending the determination of the appeal to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. And I trust that the apex court will do justice. I also wish to use this medium to appeal to all my associates, lovers, supporters and leaders to remain calm. The truth shall prevail over falsehood as light triumphs over darkness. Signed Senator Buruji Kashamu Ogun East Senatorial District 04.05.18 |
The Police have arrested and quizzed one Bola Kalejaiye (a.k.a Dr. Syn) over the recent violence and killings that erupted in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Kalejaiye, who was arrested and quizzed by the Police from the Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday, for his role in the crisis which led to the death of a Police Inspector and several others, was released on Friday after he was interrogated by operatives at the zonal command of the Force. The former Ijebu North Council boss was said to have played a major role in the crisis which put the entire community in a state of unrest for more than three weeks even after the intervention of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS). Information at our disposal reveal that Kalejaiye, who is allegedly said to be a senior member of one of the confraternities, mobilised his "boys" to disrupt a "thank you rally" organised by the PDP in Ijebu North Local Government in honour of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Buruji Kashamu, on the 8th of April, 2018. But, they could not disrupt the rally because the crowd was massive and overwhelming. However, as the rally came to an end, they went after members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), who are party members and complemented the Police and other security agencies in providing security for the mammoth crowd. Some of the "boys" who were said to have contracted by Kalejaiye to carry out the dastardly act have told the Police what happened and they could be used as witnesses against him. Dr. Syn reportedly mobilised "the boys" with the sum of N200,000 on that fateful day - 8th April, 2018 - to carry out the bloody attack. Upon seeing the level of violence, death and devastation wreaked on the community, Dr. Syn took to his heels. He has been running from one place to the other since the incident happened until he was arrested by the Police last Wednesday. Although he is now on administrative bail after being held for two days (he was released on Friday), investigation is still ongoing and the Police have vowed to pursue this matter to a logical conclusion with a view to putting a permanent stop to the orgy of violence that has bedevilled Ijebu Igbo and its environs. |
I'm responding personally to the illogical statement by Ladi Adebutu's cohorts out of love and respect I have for our party elders, leaders, teeming followers and supporters. This shall however be my last attempt at educating those that indulge in deliberate self-deception into taking an unrealistic position over a judiciously legal binding decision on both INEC and the PDP. Quite interestingly, my name was in derogatory terms, mentioned several times in the said response which I choose to ignore in appreciation of the unfavourable state the authors created for themselves and in the spirit of humility in victory. It’s a pity that someone like Ladi, a member of the national legislative arm of Government, who ought to know better and appreciate the legal and electoral implications of the position taken rightly by INEC chose this voyage of fantasy. As an institution on its own, INEC have access to the best lawyers both in employment and as consultants. In coming to equity with clean hands, INEC clearly stated in her letter the binding declaration in the Justice Idris judgement in a case where PDP and INEC were parties. Interestingly, Ladi’s lawyer also defended their interests as his client in that same suit. The often taunted misconception was rested that the Supreme Court judgement has absolutely nothing to do with the two subsisting judgements of PDP Ogun state in favor of Engr Bayo dayo led Exco. If the Supreme Court judgement does not jeopardize the Justice J.Buba judgement which validated the Engr Bayo dayo led exco, then the convention that arose from that Supreme Court judgment couldn’t have the power over the subsisting high court judgement. Furthermore, it's sacrosanct that the provisions of the constitution of any Nigerian association(party convention) can't ever supercede the provisions of the construction of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(high court judgments). Consequently, Ladi Adebutu needs to be properly educated on these vital issues because anyone that believes he can govern Ogun state has to be intellegient, truthful and wise. There’s no appeal whatsoever for now, only request for relisting that’s on. All the fabricated insinuations being presented can earn nothing tangible except undeserved pity. In law, when a case has been dismissed (as in the case of Ladi’s Exco appeal) its not possible to relist it. Even if in the unlikely event that it's ordered for relist by the appeal court, the legitimate Ogun PDP exco shall as of right appeal that doubtful order at the Supreme Court. During this process, the legal position shall remain that there is no appeal yet against these subsisting judgments talk less of setting them aside. This is the logical reality that is feasible. While seeking undue pity, isn't it this structure that enabled Ladi Adebutu the platform to become what he is now which had been unattainable for him for nearly two decades. How in good conscience can he be claiming openly to have treacherously substituted his structural benefactor and expect no reaction Ogun state people are very wiser and we'll informed; they know who’s telling the truth and who’s misleading himself with the intent to mislead them. All our Elders, leaders, followers and Aspirants, should endeavor to support the authentic Exco in Ogun state, The Adebayo Dayo led Exco to unite the PDP Ogun in other for us to take over the government in 2019. Tanx everybody. Senator Kashamu

Over the years, I have refrained from joining issues with my younger brother and estranged political associate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, who turned against me after being elected to the House of Representatives. I am not the least perturbed because it is the way of serial betrayers and schemers. Even now, I ordinarily would not have responded to the lies he told about my being “a lone wolf crying in the forest” because it is only symptomatic of his state of mind. However, I am constrained to issue this statement to let him know that my silence is not a sign of acquiescence or cowardice. It is because he is inconsequential. The person I have issues with and will always do is his (Ladi’s) principal, who is the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose. Ladi is a small fry and a non-starter. There is no point dissipating energy on someone who cannot pull a strand of hair from my body. Ladi should know that their (he and his master’s) plan to get me out of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its National Executive Committee (NEC) will never see the light of the day. No man brought me to the party and no man can take me out of it. I can never be frustrated from the party by anyone. On the valid and subsisting judgments that he dismissed as inconsequential and meant to seek attention, I wish to let him know that the judgments are here to stay and no Jupiter can upturn them. If Ladi thinks that he can subvert the Rule of Law to suit his fantasies, he will soon find out that the law is no respecter of persons. No one can manipulate and monopolise the courts. All his claims and boasts about the desperate attempt to relist a dismissed appeal will be met with appropriate steps, strategies and counter-strategies. Finally, I wish to reassure him that if the Almighty God is the God of justice, equity and fairness, and He rules and reigns over the affairs of men, there is no way He will allow injustice to triumph over justice. He certainly will not allow anyone who pays good with evil to succeed. Sooner than later, the Law of Karma will catch up with him and he will meet his Waterloo. Signed Senator Buruji Kashamu 08.03.18

Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria thronged the streets and markets of Ijebu North yesterday to educate commercial drivers, market women and others on the need to partake in the ongoing CVR exercise. The reputable forum through its Coordinator; Comrade Senbadejo Olawale said it embarked on this exercise when it realised that the entire public are taking the CVR exercise lightly and therefore; feels reluctant to set aside few hours for the ongoing registration. According to him, Nigerians should act rather than complain. Without the PVC, the probability of electing one's preferred candidate becomes impossible. The exercise was carried out in conjunction with bodies like the Man O' War, Red Cross, Midas Touch Innovation and St Enoch Orphanage Home and Oke Agbo Youth Forum. Comrade Olawale further claimed that the sensitization programme will go a very long way in enlightening the people on the power and importance of the PVC. While giving her thought, the treasurer; Mrs Omolola Seriki stated how good it feels to be in the midst of the people. She encouraged them to express their feelings by electing a credible candidate come 2019. She further explained that this is not achievable without the PVC. The exercise also included a bit of environmental sanitation and it was reportedly a successful and peaceful outing.

*Ogun PDP State Mobilization Committee train lands at Imeko-Afon Local Government* The train of the Ogun State Mobilization Committee today landed at Imeko-Afon local government in continuation of the effort to ensure that new members are brought into the party and strengthen to perform well in the 2019 elections. The Committee met with the 12-man local Apex/mobilization committee of the LG and other officers of the party. Welcoming the State delegation, the party Chairman, Mr Basil Ajibade reported the activities of his executive and assured of his readiness to execute the mobilization template laid down by the State Executive Committee. The State Organizing Secretary, who also doubles as the Chairman of the state mobilization delegation, Hon Koye Ijaduoye, urged the people of Imeko-Afon to work with the 12-man apex body to strengthen the party and give victory for the PDP in 2019 through regular meetings and concerted membership drive. The State Woman Leader, Chief Mrs Remi Olusoji, who incidentally is from the LG, assured the meeting that the PDP under the leadership of Engr Adebayo Dayo is the only way and path to prosperity. She further encouraged her people to be steadfast and show patriotism, loyalty to the cause of the PDP. The women were also advised to use their numbers and strength to support the ongoing grassroots mobilization effort. In his own briefing, the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bolaji Adeniji urged members to take advantage of the ongoing voters register to get their PVC and also ensure that new members do the same. He also said that Imeko-Afon is strategic in ogun west and Senator Buruji Kashamu will surely visit the area in coming months; and to this end, the people must demonstrate their willingness and readiness, by working assiduously to meet the demands for such leadership visitation. The State Youth leader, Mr Femi Alao charged Youths to bring their energy and numbers to bear on the mobilization effort of the party in Imeko-Afon. The train moves to another local government in coming days.

*THE DISSIDENT GROUP IN OGUN PDP AND THEIR YO-YO DANCE IN BORROWED ROBES (Being reference to the poisonous chalice signed by Malik Ibitoye)* My attention has just been drawn to a puerile, vacuous and irritable statement signed by one Malik Ibitoye, on behalf of the dissident and increasingly desperate group led by Sikirulai Ogundele and sponsored by a politically naïve 'Sugar Daddy' with vaunting ambition. I would have wished to give a robust engagement to the statement if it had any meaningful point, but most unfortunately, the statement is empty and a mere reactionary effort by Malik Ibitoye to justify his illusionary and feasibly nonexistent position. I assume the poisonous chalice from the Ogundele group is their reaction to my stated position on the just concluded National Convention, which I released two days ago and also a knee jerk reaction to our exchanges few hours ago on a WhatsApp loop called Ogun 2019 Governorship. Now three issues are pertinent for me to briefly address: Firstly, I want to unequivocally maintain my stated opinion on the National Convention which is not a minority opinion anyways, but an opinion that is shared by many Nigerians and have been echoed nationally - with the outcome of that convention widely observed to be a product of heavy financial inducement, political coercion and outright fraud that produced the Uche Secondus executive. I will not need to repeat the facts here again as my position on it has since become public document that can be referred to by anyone who cares to educate their minds on the subterfuge that happened in Abuja. Secondly, the legitimate leadership of Ogun state PDP, I maintain is still not in doubt and really under no genuine contention. Not minding the pretensions of Sikirulai Ogundele and his cheerleaders to leadership of Ogun PDP, the position of the extant laws of our party and valid pronouncement of the courts have made it abundantly clear that Engr Adebayo Dayo- led executive is sacrosanct and unassailable. Whereas, a dissident group may enjoy temporary support and protection from their friends at the National secretariat and therefore revel in borrowed robes, it is meaningless in the eyes of the law - which is firmly anchored on Adebayo Dayo executive via an FHC judgement that has not been repudiated till today. Noteworthy, this landmark judgement gave clear instructions to INEC and the Police; and we shall wait till 2019 to see the rule of law prevail over the rule of force/money just like it happened in 2011 and 2015. Thirdly, one have observed, painfully though, the continuous penchant of Hon Sikirulai Ogundele to denigrate the personality of Senator Buruji Kashamu at the slightest opportunity he has to speak on Ogun PDP matters be it on Radio, TV or even social media. It is preposterous that he has not been able to elevate himself to the level befitting of the position he currently impersonates. I do not believe that it is difficult for him to talk on air without the urge to insult the Senator. Has anyone ever seen or heard Engr Dayo go low as to insult people when he speaks? A supposed leader and aspiring party chairman should be conciliatory in language and not join the Lilliputians prowling the WhatsApp loops; Otherwise, if the trend continues, it will be adduced that he perhaps lacks the cerebral capacity to engage issues on merit and thus prefer to go the cheap and worn-out route of character assassination to score unsustainable political points. Finally, those who seek party control through the backdoor in ogun state and those driven by naked ambition should have deep rethink and come to the table of reason. Unity is good and reconciliation is nice, but when people choose to be politically unreasonable then the law becomes the arbiter. The way forward is for Malik Ibitoye and his group of men in borrowed robes to revert to the position of the Law and stop this yo-yo dance, because the orchestra will soon end. Signed: ' *Bolaji Adeniji* _State Publicity Secretary, Ogun PDP_ |
If one is asked to point exactly at the achievements of PDP's National Caretaker Committee headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi since it got victory through the Supreme Court, there is absolutely none. The committee failed in both its primary and secondary assignment. The former assignment was to unite all aggrieved party members and give to everyone, a sense of belonging while the major assignment is to give victory to the party and its members at election contests. The Makarfi Led Caretaker Committee has proven that the Supreme Court judgment was more of a harm than good for the PDP. Each State Chapter of the party has been in so much mess and disarray. The persistent crisis in the party gets from bad to worse just as a day goes and the other comes. The performances of PDP in terms of election under the very weak watch of Senator Ahmed Makarfi has been stinkingly poor. If the PDP's result at the outcome of recent elections is anything to go by, it then means a lot of problems and failures await the party in 2019 and beyond. The Guber election loss in Edo, Ondo and Anambra States respectively spells huge doom for the party in the nearest future. Just this morning, I woke up to read in the dailies that Ben Obi lost even in his own ward to an opposition party. Are these the set of people claiming the party's leadership and deciding its proper positioning ?? Do these people really worth handling the affairs of the party in their respective States not to talk of the National level Who knows if Makarfi can even record victory for PDP in his ward if an election is to be held in Kaduna State today ? It is better to stand for something than to fall for nothing. Just as it is crystal clear to everyone that the days of Makarfi at Wadata Plaza are numbered as a proper convention would hold on the 9th of December, 2017, the leaders, elders and members of the party are enjoined ensure that the mantle of leadership is handed over to someone who can successfully carry out both the primary and secondary assignments as I have mentioned earlier. The Anambra Guber election is seemingly the last which Makarfi will witness as PDP's number one citizen. He started with failure in Edo and has ended on a 'note' in Anambra. The summation of Makarfi's reign in PDP is nothing but failure. May God put an end to this and give to us a Man that will give victory to the party and its members. Sobowale Olayinka (VIBRANT)

We shortlisted George, Adeniran, Adedoja on the basis of experience, invulnerability to opposition- Oyedokun A member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the South-West, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, has explained why the board decided to choose three contestants from the zone to vie for the National Chairmanship position of the party at the December 9 National Convention of the party. In an exclusive interview today with the Telegraph newspaper, Chief Oyedokun said the need to aggregate the position of the party in the South West ensure that the zone gains significant leverage in the chairmanship position over the South-South motivated its move. He said the PDP needs an experienced hand in party management, adding that the BoT shortlisted on the basis of experience and geographical spread. He said: “The party has zoned the chairmanship to the South and presidency to the North. We don’t want the South-West to lose out, hence the need to prune down the aspirants. We all know that the South-West is the only zone of the three in the South that has never produced a national chairman, either in acting or substantive. So, it will be rather untidy for us if we just leave it open like that. “The elders in the party have called aspirants to agree on consensus, they will not agree. So, we decided to do a shortlist on the basis of experience and geographical spread. This is done without prejudice to whoever wants to be defiant. All we know is that we have made our opinion known and we should not let our people lose out. “The party wants an experienced hand in party management. If you look carefully, most of the people who have been governors are not good party managers. They specialize in mis-governance and in most cases they are the ones who spoil the party because of impunity and imposition of their will on everybody. “We need a chairman from the South-West who the opposition cannot easily intimidate or blackmail. Some of the aspirants still have baggage; they still have cases with EFCC and other law enforcement agencies. To present such people for now is not best for the PDP. It will be foolhardy. “We need consistent people who have stayed with the party from the beginning. Those who defected from the PDP created issues for the party. On moral ground, we have to consider those who have stayed committed to the party,” he said. |
