It's been a splendid year for both Marvel and DC Comics at the cinemas. Here's hoping for more awesome comic book awesomeness in the coming years

Merry Christmas to all the denizens (and other temporary contributors) of the Nairaland Marvel and DC threads...

Minemrys, MrDojo, cao, MJBOLT, Raalsalghul, XxSabrinaxX / IAmSabrina, hulk616, pu7pl3, TheKingIsHere, Afobear, Shittaakeem, BankyGee, Laurene, Kaycee7, Lana1, AfricaGalactic, JJOF, Nickshrapnel, nani667, NeededGist, Blackspider, phr0nesis, philfearon, BlackManta, TonySpike, SaviTar, Guykhena, Breegz14, waywardpikin, dragonflyy, BraniacX, hablink, thegamingorca, chrisbaxtian, moneyallowed, Lala39, 100naira, Treyknowles, Eyedea, Kingrapha, Pop7Culture7, IHate9jerianss, IamJ, Buharifanatic, gustav25, KealDrogo, Topmaike007, Sultan5, CreepyBlackpool et al

e/ I passionately indulge a few of my aforementioned neighbours to please tone down the negative energy towards the distinguished competition as we approach a brand new year. I know I'm inclusive as well LoL. It IS possible to enjoy your favourite heroes on screen without knocking down the rivals. It IS also possible to enjoy them both.

Hope to see you all in 2020...

Hmm, could WandaVision be our first introduction to the MCU incarnation of the Children Of Atom, the Merry Mutants? After all, Wanda is historically a Mutant in the comics(until she wasn’t) and Wanda’s powers and her potential seismic impact her powers can have on reality could in theory be used as a potentially trigger the widespread activation of the X-gene in humans post-Endgame. So instead of Wanda uttering the word, “no more mutants” perhaps the MCU will do the inversion of that and have her say, “more mutants” and through her powers the mutant population starts growing more than ever before.
I'd be OK with Wanda finding out she's a mutant and becoming officially the first MCU mutant.

Don't think they'll retcon her though.

Superman is the world's most popular Superhero not Batman.
I would agree with this. Batman is easily DC's most profitable superhero, but Superman is more well known all over the world

thank you so much.

do you know Marvel has more reality warpers than DC like ratio 20:1.
So, in an all-out brawl, you're both saying Marvel will wreck DC?

AfricaGalactic:
People relate to fictional heroes when they see the hero go through on a daily basis what they themselves go through. Not just a single event. But Every. Single. Day. Just on a larger scale. I'm not saying DC heroes are unrelatable though. That's not my point
Aiit. I get it bruh

Maximum respect to pu7pl3.

pu7pl3:
That is a wrong stereotype bruh...that's how they also said that DC characters are always overpowered and unbeatable which is also wrong!!!
I don't know about this. From what i usually read on ComicVine and r/whowouldwin, The Flash Family (infact the entire Flash universe) seem OP
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Vic2Ree(m): 1:36pm On Nov 20, 2019
AfricaGalactic:
Ask him to define "relatable". Ultimately, i think what is going on here is either
1. He doesn't know the meaning of "relatable".
OR
2. We have different ideas of the word "relatable".
OR
3. He's conflating character traits and plot points with relatability. Which makes no sense.

My guess is either 2 or 3.
I don't understand number 3. Can you expantiate?
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Vic2Ree(m): 1:31pm On Nov 20, 2019
TheKingIsHere:
Me I know understand this argument.

Can someone break it down in summary smiley
I think there's two arguments grin

First one: Pu7pl3 vs Minemrys >>> Whose heroes are more relatable? Marvel or DC?

Second one: Pu7pl3 vs AfricaGalactic >>> Which company introduced the heroes with flaws, the relatable heroes? Marvel or DC?
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Vic2Ree(m): 1:27pm On Nov 20, 2019
AfricaGalactic:
They think unrelatability =/= uninteresting. I'd say that's faulty logic and insecurity rolled into one, but what do I know.

It is a known fact that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced the first wave of flawed, relatable heroes of the Silver Age under the Marvel Comics banner. This is a known fact everywhere. Except on Nairaland grin
LMFAO!
TV/MoviesRe: DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE (FILM) by Vic2Ree(m): 1:02pm On Nov 20, 2019
Pu7pl3, wait. They are not saying that DC characters are not relatable. They are saying that Marvel were the first to make their characters relatable. It's not hard to grasp, bruh. Come on. Abi, minemrys and africagalactic, correct me if i'm wrong.

I won't outrightly call him a villain
Why? Is it because Stan Lee said so?
https://www.cbr.com/stan-lee-explains-why-doctor-doom-isnt-a-villain/
Doesn't matter. He's one of Marvel's greatest characters. He's our Darth Vader. He deserves all due respect and recognition. The MCU need to use him.
TV/MoviesRe: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Vic2Ree(m): 3:18pm On Nov 18, 2019
MrDojo:
Dr. Doom is one of the most iconic marvel villains. He may not be as powerful as Thanos, but he's an amazing character on his one.

It will be a shame if the mcu does not use him, or they relegate him to a typical mcu villain.
Seconded. Doom is easily one of my favorite comic book villains

I remember the old days when we had 2 MCU films a year. It will be interesting to see how Feige and the rest of the Marvel gang juggle this workload.
For the past few years, Feige has been grooming a team of producers. These guys (D'Esposito et al) do all the heavy lifting because Feige can't be everywhere at the same time. Even if Feige takes the exit, i still think the MCU will maintain the quality and keep the crown.
