Am available for hire/work.

Bro, are you for real? You gave the world a project to review with a screenshot? Lol, how is that even reasonable? Please, deploy it, and let's have a working demo version of it; that's how people review projects, not with screenshots.
Programming / What You May Not Know About Typescript (part 1) by VICJERBETS(m): 12:22am On May 01
Do you understand TypeScript? This was the question I kept asking myself while building some projects with the language. I initially learned TypeScript from YouTube but never took the time to go in-depth on it by learning from those building it. Found out it was a wrong decision in the hard way.

Finally, learned from my mistakes, I meticulously read the TypeScript docs, making sure I understood every statement. This is part 1 of an article series I’ll be doing, where I’ll detail the things that are not too obvious to “shallow” users of the language. Check it out.

Webmasters / Are You Passionately Obsessed With Software Development? by VICJERBETS(m): 8:30am On Apr 23
Some of us entered software development because it had always been our passion since our youth. Others entered in their early twenties, viewing it as a lucrative industry. Some entered with hopes of starting their own SaaS business. Regardless of how we entered, I believe we were all passionate about it. Let's explore why identifying the type of passion that led us to software development is important in this article.

Programming / Re: Developers And React by VICJERBETS(m): 11:06am On Apr 22
Slimdan360:
I have been on this web development journey for quite sometime now and after successfully mastering HTML, CSS and having a wide knowledge of JavaScript (cause I feel no one can actually master JavaScript), I’m now ready to move on to React. However, I’m having problems getting materials. I’m the type of person that excels in learning through pdf rather than videos. Going through w3school, I feel the resources there aren’t enough to grasp the concept of React. Pls developers in the house, what resource did you use in learning React?
I’m also opened to advice on the best way to go about learning the JavaScript framework.
Thanks.

Thanks for your openess in admitting you want to learn (and the truth is that we are all learning).

My simple advice is this: the software world moves very fast these days that any book not teaching on "foundation knowledge" would become obsolete in 2-3 years. That is, don't read books on React.js, they release new features every year, so what's the point?

So how do I go about it? Develop the attitude to read docs of your development tools, that's the only way to be so up-to-date. The sad truth is that most devs only watch youtube videos and consider themselves React.js developers, so if you read the docs and understand the concepts you would become at least more knowledgeable than them on React.js (whether this translates to money is another matter).
Programming / Re: Is Blogging Still Relevant For Programmers? by VICJERBETS(m): 10:09am On Apr 19
shreygautam:
Yes, blogging is still relevant for programmers. Blogging allows programmers to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights with a wider audience, which can help them establish credibility in their field. It also provides an opportunity to showcase their expertise, which can be beneficial for career advancement or freelance opportunities.

Furthermore, blogging can help programmers stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in their field. By writing about new tools, techniques, or projects, programmers can deepen their understanding and stay relevant in a rapidly evolving industry.

Moreover, blogging can also be a way for programmers to contribute to the community by providing tutorials, tips, and troubleshooting guides. This not only helps other programmers but also enhances the overall knowledge sharing in the programming community.

In conclusion, blogging remains a valuable tool for programmers to showcase their skills, stay updated with industry trends, and contribute to the community. For those interested in pursuing a career in programming, a Python certification course can provide the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field.

Bro this is great. I think you should add it as a blog post in your personal website.
Webmasters / Why Must We Be Fanboys To The Development Tools We Use? by VICJERBETS(m): 3:58am On Apr 19
This is the state of the software industry today. An industry where you’ve to belong to a specific group. An industry where you can’t remain neutral and take advantage of the benefits your development tools offer. An industry where being a part of a group requires you to despise and curse developers who use a different tool. It’s an industry full of biases and fanboyism.

Check out the article I wrote in regards to the state of the software world today, where people keep fighting over development tools instead of focusing on building products with the tools.

Which developer get time to dey blog? Are you just posting for posting sake or what? Programmer, blogging?

You're right bro, a lot of devs don't get the time to blog. But as I clearly stated in the article, if you ever get the time and opportunity to, its a gift to cherish and one to cultivate your development and writing skills.

But as you've clearly pointed out, its not a must for devs, because we are judged by the softwares we build, not some fancy blog posts we write.

The second link is not working and which ecommerce CMS do you use?

Oh I'm surprised the link is not working. It's working here on my end. I think you were requested to log in first, or create an account. So maybe that was the issue. However if it still doesn't work, check out the project from my website: https://udohjeremiah[dot]com, replace [dot] with "."

I didn't use any CMS, I built it from scratch as the source code is available on github, and you can take a look.

I believe that many developers who want to start a blog may wonder if it's still relevant in today's time. I share the same thoughts, and I think it's a good idea to address this issue in my first blog post.

Very far from real world e commerce I must say

But I will not deny the fact that u got good project planing skills

It is just a matter of what a clients needs I believe the core can be extended

I give it 8.9/10

Yeah, you're right @silento, I think I should have given the e-commerce store more thought as you've said. Thanks also for your recommendation, I greatly appreciate it.

Regarding the e-commerce store, I think I should have given it more time and consideration in design and implementation as the e-commerce cms, turns out fatigue was telling on me. But like you also said, definitely the core can very easily be extended.

The important thing is if the thing can achieve the objective of a e-commerce platform which is centered on sales.

I do not exactly understand what you mean by an "e-commerce platform which is centred on sales.", but the whole idea of building the frontend store was to show that the ecommerce-cms project works, as the store was built from there. So that's a testimony that it works.

The second one is a cool structure.

Thanks for your critique. On the first one, I would say I didn't bother much about designs, since the goal was seeing how to connect the store to the ecommerce cms, so any store would do it (and was so tired just wanted to deploy). Hence I didn't give it much design thought.

The meat of the project was an ecommerce cms, and that was what I poured my soul into. What can you suggest I do better or improve more on in regards to that?

Good morning hackers. No need for too many bullshit talks. I built an e-commerce content management system and then built a store also from that e-commerce cms. I would love to hear what you think of it and also how to improve it. By the way, they are open-source projects, so you can copy the code and use it for your projects, and/or make contributions to the one we have now. Below are the links for it:

However, if you're looking for a paid IT program stick to Lagos or Abuja

I'm not necessarily looking for a paid one. Just one where the real software development is being applied in Akwa Ibom, and I'd be glad if you can point me to one.

Good day fams. Hope y'all are doing great?

I've been seeing online and in the news more frequently about Akwa Ibom being the "Nigerian Silicon Valley", as more devs are running away from Lagos and Abuja, because of its high cost of living, mental stress, etc, to Akwa Ibom.

I'm a computer science student and I'm currently looking for a place to do my SIWES/IT for the next six months. And honestly I'd wish it to be Lagos and Abuja since this is where the "big" tech firms are. However I think I've had to reconsider because of housing, as I was thinking of HiiT in Ikeja, but the lowest price for self con I saw was #500k.

So I'd love if you are in Akwa Ibom to please share your view of the place and also list any firm you can refer to for doing SIWES/IT for the next 6 months as a computer science student.

Thanks 🙏.

Programming / I Am Lost In Finding A Place For My Industrial Training (IT). Please I Need Help by VICJERBETS(m): 12:24pm On Jan 24
Subject: Seeking Assistance for Industrial Training Placement

I am reaching out because I am currently in a bit of a bind regarding my Industrial Training (IT) placement. Despite my best efforts, I have been struggling to find a suitable place to undertake my IT, and I am in need of some guidance.

I am reaching out to inquire if you or anyone you know might have information or insights on potential opportunities for Industrial Training in Computer Science (especially in the web development world). I am eager to enhance my skills and gain practical experience in a setting that aligns with my academic and career goals, but unfortunately, my search has not yielded the desired results thus far. I have a reasonable experience in web development, since I've been doing it for the past 2 years. I've built real world projects that's being used out there today and would gladly show it to anyone if they want to see.

If you have any recommendations, advice, or contacts that could help me secure a valuable IT placement, I would be immensely grateful. Whether it's specific companies, organizations, or even general tips on navigating the application process, any assistance you can provide would be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my message. Your support in this matter means a lot to me, and I believe your insights could be instrumental in helping me find a suitable placement for my Industrial Training.
