For airlines, i'm afraid, you exceed the maximum height level of 6ft, anyway, this is because, while some heavy aircraft could take someone of even 7ft, but there are many light aircraft that a 6.4ft would have some difficulties with. Anyway, you may try, it may be overlooked especially if you'd be assigned to work only in heavy planes. |
Travel › Re: Discrimination Towards Our Parents At Finnish Embassy Abuja! by Vicjustice: 11:56am On Jun 12, 2008 |
Jevbe: I want the Nigerian government and the world to know what is going on at the Finnish Embassy Abuja. The discrimination towards a Nigerian married to a fellow Nigerian is just too obvious. They always reject visa to our mothers and fathers to come and visit us in Finland but if one of the couple is a Finn(white Finnish) they will grant the visa but if both couples are black , they will reject the visa even if they are Finnish citizen. The most frustrating part is that they know they will not give the visa, they will still demand you pay the visa fee and health insurance fee.
Nigerians living legally in Finland are crying out to the world to do something about this discrimination. How can the Embassy reject a 65 years old woman that wants to go and visit her daughter and grandchild? How can the Embassy reject a mother who has not seen her son for the past 7years visa to go and visit him and the grandchild? The humiliation is too much.
My mother was at the Embassy and during the interview, they asked what was her reason for applying and she told them that she wants to go and visit her daughter and grandchildren. But after spending so much money on the trip to Abuja, including the health insurance and visa fee, she was rejected the visa based on what? That she didn't say the reason why she wants to go to Finland. What nonesense, what an excuse!
What an insult to my mum who spent 11 days waiting for their reply at Abuja. The same excuse was giving to three other women ages above 60 that wanted to go and visit their children.
All this rejection because both couples inviting these people are black but if one of the couple is white Finnish, they will grant the visa without calling to confirm if the application is geniue. We are all fed up of this insults to our parents. They will travel all the way to Abuja only to be sent home humiliated. No single respect for our parents in the hands of the staff at the embassy.
Please spread this around and let the world know the humiliation our parents are suffering in the hands of the Finnish embassy at Abuja. Something must be done about it because we are not asking for too much by inviting our own biological parents. They are not kids that will seek asylum or run away, they are our parents. Please help me spread this news, the world must know!!!!!!!! Don't judge Finland wrong because of your sad experience, it's not necessarily so-that they refuse visas for racial reasons, in fact this refusal has got more or less to do with the financial, obligation, economic, resident and social status of the host-to-be: also, the immigration history plays a major role; such as, if a person has at one time or the other ever sought political asylum before being legalised or granted citizenship, or has ever resorted to public fund under social welfare, it's highly likely that anybody such a person invites in the future will be refused the visa. But those with reputable profession and clean immigration history seldom get treated this way. |

femigirl: Here the facts
here are the facts my friend who is the sponsoring(llet refer to her has B) is British, has a 35k plus job, own properties in the UK, has savings and bonds, etc,
she has a cousin( that is not bood related, long term famiy friend, grew up to together, there parents have know each other before their were born kind of thing)
the cousin- (let refer to has A), is 26 years old owns property in North, works in the entertainment industry in Nigeria , she is not married , wants to come to the UK for the first time for about a month. Her wages had been paid cash in hand and her current account has not been run correctly meaning she didn't awas put her wages in the bank
Can you appy for family visa if your not realated by blood or marriage?
what will be best way to proceed, how can B help A
Can can any of the other experts please help me patkai, siena, funkbaby Now, you've stated your case clearer. You see, it's always good to write things clear to comprehension to avoid misunderstanding that would result to wrong answers. When you stated that the sponsor receives 35k plus, you never mentioned that s/he is in the UK, and that made me believe that s/he is in Nigeria and receives a ridiculous 35k plus in Naira and yet wants to sponsor a visa applicant. Now that you've given a light to the real thing, i expect the £35k plus is annual income, and this makes him more than capable to sponsor a visa applicant. But still, the applicant is not eligible for a family visa since she has no evidence of family relationship with the inviting sponsor, yet however, she's good to apply for a visiting/tourist visa that should be supported with her sponsor's documents such as letter of invitation, prove of ocupation, bank statement showing six months transaction details, prove of residence with accommodation details for the applicant, also, the sponsor can draft an authenticated leter declaring that s/he will take full responsibilities of the applicant welfere and guaranty that the applicant will not over stay once in the UK nor resort to public funds. The applicant in turn will have to produce prove that she has a responsibility to return home for: but however, in a situation whereby such proof is not available, the sponsor will have to go an extra step to be a guarantor. Summary: with a sponsor who receives 35k plus british pounds, who has a good job to show for this and owns properties in the UK, the visa applicant may be covered. |

femigirl: Guys, I have a couple of questions that i have to ask for my good friend cousin.I don't think anything can be done but let see what the experts say. Everything as been done inregards to sponsorship that fine no problem, the problem is this- the person been sponsored was and still gets paid their wage cash in hand, sometimes she puts half of her wages in her accounts, sometimes nothing.
How much does the bank statements play on ECO decision to give tourist Visa? if you have like only N20,000 in your bank account and your 26 years old , should you forget about applying for a tourist visa?
the sponsor is happy to fund the whole trip, the sponsor has a good job, does this matter.
the bank statement situation is messing up the situation,to submit the visa form or not?
any suggests, comments are welcome? femigirl: *A TOURIST VISA, AS THE COUSIN IS NOT HER BLOOD COUSIN How long does the applicant intend to stay in the UK? A MONTH I BELIVE *IS WORKING IN THE ENTERTAIMENT FIELD, has paid 3 year rent and own property propety in north but not married *(SP0NSOR HAS) BEEN WORKING FOR A FSTE 100 COMPANY FOR 10 YEARS IN MIDDLE MANAGEMENT, INCOME 35K PLUS *THEY KIND GREW UP TOGETHER *(HAVE NEVER BEEN) TO THE UK
Thanks femigirl: ViC, Thanks this is what i have said to my friend all along. My friends does have properties in the UKdoes that help.
do you have any suggestions?
i was suggesting a family visa and the prove the cousin will go back to Naija is she signed work contract etc
i hate been negative and ruining people hope.I real hate this Visa situation,it like paying the lottery. Dear, i must admit that you confused me with these informations. *First, i don't know if we're talking to your friend or cousin, *You made me understand that the sponsor "has a good Job)"and is capable of covering the expenses of the trip *Then, you stated that he earns just "35k plus" *You also stated that your friend has three year rent and that s/he some properties in the north *But later you said she does have the properties in the UK. *You gave an answer that the visa to be sought is for tourism, but in your next post, you're talking about family visa where-as you declared that "the cousin is not her blood cousin" These discrepancies in the informations you've provided make me cast doubts as the genuineness of your inquiries; and i therefore consider this an abuse of privilege |

Thanks Dear Femigirl, Owning a property in the north is not the same thing as having a property of obligation; And marital status has little or no effect on this kind of visa. However, i regret to inform you that a tourist visa application supported by a sponsor who doesn't seem to have much link with you and earns a mere "35K plus" will by no doubt result to a refusal. |

lloydhill: i finish nov 2005(Agricultural Enginering) and started NYSc in feb 2006.i served at a small oil servicing company(KGG Nig Ltd) in Ph.i was working in the insttumental and control dept. It was a friend that was trying to apply to that yr that told me my sponsor had to have a large account.I actually didn't tell him my sponsor is my mum and works with spdc. I have an appointment letter and it indicates my salary and i have pay slips showing all the breakdown but like i said we are paid in cash and the account i have is a savings account and i don't save more than 5k every month because d cash is not enof.I work in the maintanace dept, and agricultaral eng is related because i work with heavy duty machies and vehicles. This has alot to do with safety engining i'm plannig studying in aberdeen. I just hope i don't get this qualified. lloydhill: vicjustice what do u think of my post Dude, i read your posts. Though it's been addressed. . ., but your preparation doesn't look that perfect to me. Actually, your friend is not far from the fact that the ECO expects reasonably huge amount of money with transaction details in a sponsors's bank statement; bear in mind that the number one thing that the visa officers avoid is the possibility of an applicant not being able to maintain him/herself once in their country which will eventually resort to public fund benefit or illegal activities. Anyway, you may apply as it is, if that's the best you can come up with, but remember that your sponsor (whom you claimed to be your mom) should back up your application with an account statement with imposing sum that shows transaction details. If this is available, then you stand a chance of success, otherwise, you might need to suspend your intention and apply in a better condition. |

any suggests, comments are welcome? What's the sponsorship regarding, i mean, what kind of visa are we talking about? How long does the applicant intend to stay in the UK? What's the home obligation of the applicant, i mean, what's her job and responsibilities like? What's the situation of the bank statement of the sponsor? What's the "good job" of the sponsor like, does his/her income reflect in the bank account statement? What's their relationship like, i mean, what's the connection between the applicant and the sponsor? Has the applicant ever applied for a visa before? |

Romance › Re: Nigerian Woman Wants To Marry After 3 Wks Due To Visa Issues. by Vicjustice: 10:08am On Jun 04, 2008 |
Mulatto: Hi, I have a big, big decision and I need your help. I met this beautiful Nigerian women a few weeks ago. I am an American male. We went out on a date a couple weeks ago and things seemed ok but I had no true indication of whether or not we were making a connection. I personally thought that she was gorgeous and very sweet and lovable. She actually made us dinner that night before the date. Having talked a few times in b/w on the phone everything was going slow, suddenly today she asks me to meet her because she has something very important to ask me. It turns out she filed twice for a visa, cancelled the first, and went through with the second. Unfortunately immigration is looking at the first as a violation and they are threatening deportation. The only reason she came to the USA was to go to FAA school, which she is currently attending and she showed me paperwork to prove it as well as lawyer's documentation being used to fight immigration. Long-story short she asked me if I would help her by marrying her. I told her that I view the institution of marriage as a sacred one and I only planned to have one marriage. She agreed and was sympathetic with my reasoning. My solution was to do a speed-dating session, where we go out everyday and talk as much as possible until she had no alternative but to get married, that's a week or two for us to make a solid decision. Am I crazy? Am I doing the right thing? do you think she will drop me as soon as possible? I personally think she is a sweet, honest, caring person and absolutely gorgeous in my eyes. I have always believed in the Indian tradition of quick marriages and learn/enjoy on the go, so that is not a problem. I just want to make sure that I am not setting myself up for heartbreak. Any wisdom/help is very much appreciated. Hi If you believe you're in love with her, and you consider her deserving a help of this magnitude, then go ahead and marry her. As for the fear that she might drop you; trust me, it's not Nigerian women tradition to drop their husbands especially for selfish reasons: Believe me, Nigerian women do stay with their husbands even persevering hard times except given the extreme cause to quite a marriage. Take this, she won't drop you after she got her documents; in fact, she'd want to stay with you because you're her pride and hero. |
