Crime / Re: She Was Deceived Into Prostitution Abroad. by vickrino(m): 5:35pm On Nov 04, 2021
Good afternoon House.

Someone told my sister that there was a connection for a sales rep. Job in UAE, since she's yet to get a job after her NYSC, (you know how tough Nigeria is now. But it will require her to pay some money for her visa, flight ticket and other necessary documents, but my sister told her that she currently don't have money to process any international papers.

After much discussion this lady told my sister not to worry that all documentations including flight ticket will be paid for her but on a commission fee when she arrived her destination and upon resuming work in UAE, a percentage of her salary will be remitted to them until she pays up the debt incurred.

This was two months ago precisely August. Now fast forward to yesterday 3rd November 2021, I got a WhatsApp message from my sister telling me that she was being forced into prostitution upon arriving and not the sales job as was agreed.

I told her to find a way to come back to Nigeria since she has a return ticket that will expire in 4 days time valid till 8th November 2021.

Now the issue is:
1. Her Boss, as she called her earlier took her passport upon arrival in the pretense that she may misplace it or it may get stolen.

2. Her boss insisted on her paying all the debt incurred in processing her peppers which is 125% extra on what she spent in bringing her to Dubai, which amounts to N3.5 million Naira.

Please is there a way she can return back without her international passport since she went there legally and her return ticket is still valid.

Please we need help as during this altercation since yesterday, I cannot communicate with her as her Boss has seized her phone. It's now a matter of life and death.

Tell her to either go to the embassy or police to report that her papers were collected from her as it is an offence for anyone to be in possession with another person's passport without consent in the UAE.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Can One Rent An Apartment Of 250k Per Annum With 80k Job? by vickrino(m): 10:25am On Jul 30, 2021
Guys. This is literally my story.

I was on the mainland (Ijanikin, Close to Agbara and Badagry) and got a job on the island (Marina) that pays 85,000.

My transport every day was 1000 naira every day.

I would wake up 4:30am and by 5am I was at the bus stop. Anything more, and I would be late for work.

Every day I would spend about 5hours in traffic. Iyana Iba, Costain, Volks, Underbridge.

I literally was going through serious stress. Sometimes I would arrive at work looking and feeling exhausted.

Then I looked for an apartment closer to work.

I knew surulere would be my best best.

The minimum cost for anything decent is 300,000. The agents were not merciful, the Landlords too.

Then I got an apartment for 250,000 agent 60, agreement 60. Totalling 370,000.

Then my stress drastically reduced. Transport at the time reduced to about 500 back and forth.

I also cut down on all my other expenses.

Even tho it looked like I was working for three months to pay my rent. I was happy. I was more productive and I could do more with the extra hours I spent in the traffic.

There is no one size fits all advise in this case.

Lagos is a very crazy place and if you have been in the job market for a long time, you really do not have a lot of options when a job offer comes. You just have to start with the hopes for improvement.

Get your apartment, if it will cause you less stress.
But you must be very shrewd in your spending going forward.

Remember you will feed, pay utility bills, clothe and still send back home.

I wish you well brother.

U have just applied wisdom to use half of ur transport for one year to pay for the house rent and buy yourself health and time, which many will fail to see but, only considering the cost of the rent.
So u pay 1000 for t.p before but now u pay 500, invariably, u have saved 500. So depends on the number of days u go to wo work in a month, let's say 22days. Normally it will cost u 22k for t.p but now it's 11k, so u've saved 11k per month. Multiply by 12, this gives (12x11) = 132k saved, when u add this to what u were paying as rent before, u will discover u made the very best decision. These are the things people should also look at.

Politics / Re: Sara Omalicha Lists The Problems Of Nigeria Apart From Politicians by vickrino(m): 12:09pm On Jul 13, 2021

After the successful Igbo coup, Adaka Boro led a revolt to leave Nigeria entirely . Who clamped down on that secessionist movement? The Igbos under Ironsi with Ojukwu commanding the military offensive.
You are not in any way victims of Nigeria but the main arch villains.

70% of igbos allow emotions be cloud them rather than actual facts. Even when the know the truth emotion get the best if them!!

Weldone for this, it is one part of the story people always choose to omit. We all need to agree that we've all offended ourselves and come together as one, either as a region or nation and forgive ourselves then, we will have a better society.

Travel / Re: Dubai’s National Insult To Nigeria! by vickrino(m): 9:37am On Feb 15, 2021
25k is not cheap to tell u the truth, it is even expensive. The UAE we r talking about has made this thing free for their people and anyone with valid UAE I.D and also, free for all traveller's entering their country and if u have to pay its just dhs85 which is less than 10k.

What has the Nigerian Government put in place with all the lockdown and preparation of last year before the re-opening of the airport. Not even a testing center at the airport, too many things to talk about but, we need to put things right. Truth be told, with all the money that was received last year for covid-19 relief they could not put any visible structure on ground, only markings on the floor that is not even followed and making sure people pay 50k for both returning and outbound passengers.

What a pity to us as a people!

Some Nigerians and their nauseating braggadocio, one would be forced to think Nigeria has a trillion dollars GDP and GDP per capita of $40K+. dUbAi iS iNsUlTiNg nIgErIaNs! When there were news of fake Covid-19 results from federal clinics, what did you say? When there were incidents of people travelling after obtaining altered results from hospitals in Nigeria for as low as 25K, what did you say? Then, why should the UAE, a major travel spot for Nigerians allow such people unhindered access? How much do Nigerians even contribute the to UAE sef that you are shouting?

If you had an event centre which is currently open to the public of which the entrants must present a Covid-19 test result prior to entry, you later discover that a particular set of people are presenting altered results, what will you do to safeguard your workers and centre's reputation? You mentioned offering tests upon landing in Dubai, fine. Unfortunately, because Nigerians are poor people whose contributions are negligible compared to Europeans or Indians, she can decide to impose her own rules even to the extent of employing other Africans to test Nigerians (before you begin to chant eMiRaTiS aRe rAcIsTs). At the bold, the UAE cannot be responsible for Nigeria's irresponsibility. Are you responsible for your neighbour's irresponsibility in ensuring his children obey him? Why should it be different with the UAE? Hold Abuja not Abu Dhabi responsible. You have two options: do not travel to the UAE or obey her rules. You cannot dictate to another country let alone a richer one as a citizen from the country with the highest number of people what to do. It is not done anywhere.

In summary, Nigerians - same folks who went to the UAE on day one only to break into a gold store on day three - are inherently dishonest and nefarious set of people. Why is she not doing same to Kenyans? Ghanaians? South Africans?

What's our business with the reduction? How many Nigerians can actually afford to buy brand new cars?

Selfish people, this bill is still for them, afterall, during the lockdown last year they were still buying brand new Vehicles for themselves.

Abeg o, they should allow us to hear word.

How much tax.have you been paying?
Your 10,10k tax?

The earlier we realized that this country is a poor country the better.

All this oil money wey we dey take brag na Nonsense.

I am sure even the budget of white house is bigger than the budget of Nigeria tongue

Covid 19 has hit the world. Countries that have diversified 50 years ago are able to weather the storm.

As oil price has fallen where are we going to see money again?

U didn't tell me that u r working in tax office to know The amount I've been paying for more than 10years now?

Wake up from ur sleep, for the fact that u might not be paying tax doesn't mean that I'm paying 10k as tax. The payment has never been the problem But, what is the result of the payment.

diversifying the economy and improving tax collection.

Imagine advice! All the taxes we have been paying what have they been doing with It? After sucking the Nation dry, they want to still collect more from the people(the poor masses) which they have already drained by increasing tax collection.

God will help us in this Nation.

This is what we get when we keep inflating the cases of Covid-19 without proper testing measures and thinking the world is not watching.

This is a clear fact of the rising cases we keep announcing everyday. Some other African nations are permitted to travel in, but anyway, its better so we all can stay in our country and make it right.

God help us.

What about a situation where the overall stay of the passenger in the country is not up to their proposed 14 days isolation period.

They should think of something else jare. They want to open another office to drain people as usual, either you will have to pay to collect the passport or you will hear "sorry we can't find your passport, you need to pay for another one".

But, don't forget to see a paedetrician at the earliest time u could.
