Sometimes these scenario's which you deem rare are of single parents of hyper active infant on a sugar rush, single parents who are also the bread winners and the sole adult around, single parent for whom multi tasking is a must 24/7

Like I said, it wasn't easy for my mum.

Oh well, I understand, but there's just no justification for this. Honestly there's no justification for it.

We've got crèches, we've got preschools, all for such kids. Why not enroll them, if you know you've got little or no time to handle their sugar rush system.

No matter what, there'd still be better ways to cope.

Your kid sister adjusted quickly enough because apart from your mum, there were other adults around her watching out for her and protecting her from herself in other words acting as an invisible but real social leash on her, the scenario I painted is one in which there is only one adult around to watch out for these carefree kids

The scenario you painted is rare. Very rare. And even at that, there are still better ways to handle this.

I and my twin brother are the first kids my mum had. My dad was far from home then cos of work, which makes my mum the only one with two kids at a time. It wasn't easy for her, but she never did this to us. My dad discovered how stressful it was for her, and got her a maid to help. But the maid maltreated us even when we did nothing wrong. Nobody advised my mum before she asked the maid to leave. I don't know how she did it, but after the experience with the maid, she got the strength to look after us herself, despite her busy schedule.

What am I saying? I see most parents who do this as being to lazy to handle their kids. Discipline your child, and he/she will give you rest. Not full rest, but Optimal.

Kids that age are very adventurous and hyper active bouncing from pillar to post and creating a whole hell lot of noise if they happen to locate another partner in crime and keeping track of them without putting them on this sort of leash is next to impossible, I know because I live with some in my building and they are their parents nightmare, and remember no matter how hard you try, you can't make your child's environment completely child friendly and even if you do, their natural curiosity will lead them out of that zone eventually and setting limits and boundaries for them will only increase their curiosity and this I can remember even about myself, so those leashes which appear inhumane to you, are an adults way of coping with an infants possibly dangerous hyper activity

No. I disagree. It's not every adults way of coping. Some parents wouldn't do this. Common, no matter how we try to defend that act, it's still not cool. Hanging a child like that.

I like the fact that you admitted to have once being like those kids, everyone of us have being like those kids. Tho some mild and some severe. We've got different stages.

But there are better ways to handle such. My kid sister used to be very stubborn while growing up, but my mum never did such. With time my sis adjusted. It's just a phase that would pass. Parents should just be more careful with the kids.

Leash should be for dogs. Don't you think so?

Funny thing is, some kids will even act more stubborn whenever they go through this. Cos, they'd be like "After all, last resort, they'd be placed on the usual(leash)"
