Thank you for this information

Corporate2020:

Data Science and Business Analytics has more job openings. Several companies are now going Data analytics.

However, Cybersecurity will give you a higher paying job with less competition. This is because several people from diverse fields are studying Data Science, but Cybersecurity has mainly Computing graduates/ practitioners with few "outsiders,". Talking from experience.

Thank you for taking out time to reply. The person 's 1st and 2nd degrees is Computer Science and Information Technology respectively and worked in the last 5years in the IT department of a bank. The person desires a management position and plans to setup his company in the future , hence he applied to study graduate diploma in Business Administration. Any green light

ShowYoung:

It's possible if the course (PGD) is related to your job.

Job experience overrides your qualifications. For example, someone who has a degree in Biochemistry but has been working in a bank for 8 years may wish to upgrade him/herself by going for a PGD in Banking or Financial Services. He/She could claim this certificate would enable him/her have promotion and better chance of maintaining his/her relevance in the industry.

Good Morning , please I like to know the chances of this person (currently living in Nigeria) getting a Canada student visa :

1. The person's highest education is a Masters degree from a Nigerian School
2. Got admission into a Canadian school to study a graduate diploma in a course that is non-related to either first degree (B.sc) or second degree (M.sc).
3. Considering 1 and 2 above, should the person go ahead to pay the admission acceptance fee?

Thank you

Hi John,

Please accept my email request, I need info as regards IELTS coaching.

Thanks

johnnybravo1990:

Congrats dear. I remember those 3 days of our coaching. smiley It was a marathon and a rush program which I normally do not accept to do a because of the stress involved. I like to touch on all areas of IELTS writing. It was really draining on me because of the multiple reviews and calls we did everyday, but I am so glad our efforts paid off. Congrats on your future ITA.

To modify a long quote do this:

1. When you click on the 'quote' button, it takes you to the edit box
2. In the edit box, you will see the message in between the word 'quote' in square brackets.
3. You can delete most of the text and leave few lines of the text
4. Ensure the quote within a square bracket [] at the beginning and at the end of the text is not deleted.

Can people learn to edit really long posts they want to comment on? It's frustrating going through the thread and then you find out most of the page has been taken up by a post we've seen previously.
It's been mentioned several times but it needs to be mentioned again. Thanks and God bless

This is encouraging, that means ICES have stepped up their game. 10 weeks!!!!!

I had created my profile on ICES but changed my mind when @edunt said CES was faster.

Please Guys what's your opinion, ICES or CES?

ananne:
My wife's ECA report from ICES is ready. They received her documents on the 18th of June via email. Told us it will take 14 weeks... Later increase it to 20 weeks.

Fortunately for us.. They completed it in 10 weeks. Document is on its way to Nigeria via DHL.

Still battling with my ECA with WES. my school just sent it last week via EMS.

mehn... This journey isn't for the faint hearted.

Looooooong Pooooooost Aleeeeeert.

God of the Universe has spoken.

To the gods that man the gates,
To the gates that guard the cities.
To the cities that grounds its peoples,
To the people that long for freedom.
The almighty, the All knowing, the All rulling God is merciful and just to grant us grace and ridiculous favor.

I have fallen a thousand times,
I have failed a million times,
Lessons learnt is theory,
Useless without His mercies.

They say thomas Edison failed a thousand times and became successful after the last try in inventing the incandescent light bulb. Without the mercies of God, he would fail a thousand more.

I have found him in the highest of places but he found me in the lowest of places.
I have acknowledged him in my joyous state yet he remembered me in my deepest depression.

I reiterate the popular declaration,
He is greater than the greatest,
Stronger than the strongest,
Wiser than the wisest.

He has established and blessed me like the trees planted by the riverside, like the cedar of lebanon, bearing fruits in its season.
He has not just blessed me but extended it to my household.

Habba father...

The British Council of elders have raised their standards but my God raised another, far beyond their imagination.

Habba father..

He has filled me most in my emptiest state.

7 IELTS TESTs and I don't even know where the mental, emotional or even financial strength came from.

6 EORs and I don't know who gave me the guts and courage. I know it's not me.

Habba father,
Ha, since april 2017,
Habba father,
To September 2019.

Habba father,
brought gold to my door step before the little silver I have is threatened.

All of a sudden, all stars align and bow to your word...

What advice can a man who has failed 7 times or even more give to the people that seek victory.

Look onto God, the author and finisher of our faith.

Clock still ticking but He has shown His face.
Emmanuel, I have seen his grace.

Timeline
1ST- APRIL 2017: LRWS- 8.5, 6.5, 6.0, 7.5 (BC)

I no wan know.

Thanks boco2126 for this detailed write-up. Pls send me the materia-l vicnoshon@gmail.com

[quqote author=boco2126 post=73293040]On this IELTS issue...my two cents.

1. Stick to a FEW practice materials! The number of materials for IELTS that we see on a daily on this thread can be overwhelming. Try out only a few and stick to the one that resonates with you. Don't use ieltsliz, Jay, Cambridge, ieltsadvantage, road2ielts etc at the same time (some of these peope don't agree on the same approach and reading all can get really confusing). If you try one and it sits well with you, ditch others. Focus on that one and be a master of it. I almost got overwhelmed at some point, because l wanted to open every link or try every material l saw here. But l had to give myself brain oh.

2. Practise everyday. No excuses. Create the time. Even at work, you can use your lunch break to practise. Instead of listening to music or radio on your way to work, listen to your downloaded tips on writing, speaking, reading, listening. When walking down the streets, have an earpiece on (l hate this, but we can make sacrifices for one month abi?) and keep LISTENING. At weekends, practice speaking with your wife/husband, friend, son/daughter etc. Write out questions and tell them to ask you (under exam conditions). I finished a WHOLE 30 leaves notebook for listening practice (yeah l work an 8 to 5 and live on the mainland with my office on the island -remember, no excuses!). Always check your wrong answers and replay those portions and find out what you didn't hear properly. I used youtube for listening/speaking/reading.

3. There's this ielts expert too, one Ryan (cannot remember his surname) that l think is underrated. I used his tips for writing. He talks about 15 sentences max for writing. 3 paragraphs with 4 sentences and the closing paragraph should have 3 sentences. This keeps you in check and you already know what to write before the exam, all you will be waiting for on the ielts day is the topic given! I can share his materials if you drop your email address.
For writing, write letter and essays! Don't read what someone else wrote. Write yours too. Some people practise writing by reading another's work -WRONG! write yours too and compare. Minimum letters to write on different topics - 10. Minimum essays - 20. Revise your work and look for better ways to reconstruct your sentences. I suggest you write with pencil on your exam day so you can erase if need be.

4. For reading - use youtube. It also has a timer, so practice using the time and don't stop the timer or pause the video. The easiest comprehension in reading are the first two. Spend less time there. Say 5 mins tops for each. You do not need to UNDERSTAND nada. Just look at the instructions (very important), then the questions, then scroll through the passages for the answers. You need all your time for the last two passages. They are more technical.

5. For speaking - Be confident, relaxed and know your basic english and introduction (see ieltsliz). See this as an interview. We all attend interviews don't we? I got a list of 42 likely cue cards from ieltsliz blog (l think she said they change it every 3 months but she always update the cue card questions) and l practiced the 42 different topics and l always set my two minutes timer with my phone. You can be in the BRT or your car and practice this one, or when walking down the street or whilst doing chores at home, or lying down in your bed doing nothing (l did this. Some days, people will think you are going crazy because you are talking to yourself, but...who no go no know). One of the 42 questions l practiced was my cue card during my speaking test -something on my pet animal (l was wondering "madam why me? Animal kwa?" but because l had practised earlier, the examiner had to cut me off when it was two minutes. I just went on and on.

4. Lastly and certainly not the least...the place of PRAYER. I'm catholic, so when l saw the prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino here, l made a mental note to say it. I started saying it every day from September till i wrote my exam on the 1st of November. I even added a 9 days St. Joseph of Cupertino novena with prayer and fasting which ended on the 31st of October (l'm that extra oh. I left no chances). I asked my family to add me in their prayers too. So, pray, pray and pray. Whatever works for you. Someone dropped one St. prayer here on financial assistance for POF, best believe l'll look for that prayer and do it too!

5. People have done it, you too can. Don't be discouraged if you have tried more than once. We don't give up on this thread oh. Being here has taught me a different level of selflessness and never say never spirit. People you don't even know are quick to help and empathise and l am still in awe of you guys.

6. Please drop your email address so l can send the Ryan materials to you.

This too shall pass!

All the best everyone and my apologies for the long post.
