E-commerce stores can be an excellent business to go into, if you do it the right way, and take the time to learn how to do it properly. If you’re looking for a get rich quick scheme however, you should head elsewhere.

Today we’re going to look at few things to really consider and be careful of while you’re starting out your e-commerce or affiliate site.
1) Take your current idea –>niche down

I’m sure you have a ton of fantastic ideas that you believe are going to make big buck the minute you throw up your store. I’ve got news for you, the chances are there are hundreds of other people that are thinking the same thing and are already doing it.

One of the last e-commerce stores I worked on was selling tablet cases. Seems like a great market right? We could sell products for iPads, Kindles, Galaxies etc. While it’s a huge market that’s continually growing and evolving, our approach was too broad.

This market is very competitive, and saturated. If we wanted to succeed in this market, we should have niched down WAY more. Rather than focusing on multiple cases for multiple products, we should have focused simply on selling the very best case for, say, the Kindle Fire.

The Fire was about 2 months from release when we were working hard on the site. If we’d spent all our time marketing that, which didn’t have much competition at the time, rather than going after a very difficult iPad market – we would have seen a lot more success.

If you still don't understand try to search for any item on the internet and you will see a lot of what you are looking for from one e-commerce site or the other. Also I will urge you to try and purchased something on the Web, so you have direct personal experience with e-commerce.

Still, if you feel like you don't understand What is all the hype about e-commerce/online store at all, stick around, I will expose how you can participate and make huge profit from this new invention?

Before we get into a complete discussion of e-commerce, it is helpful to have a good mental image of plain old commerce first. If you understand commerce, then e-commerce is an easy extension.

Buyers - these are people with money who want to purchase a good or service.

Sellers - these are the people who offer goods and services to buyers.

Sellers are generally recognized in two different forms: retailers who sell directly to consumers and wholesalers or distributors who sell to retailers and other businesses.

Producers - these are the people who create the products and services that sellers offer to buyers. A producer is always, by necessity, a seller as well. The producer sells the products produced to wholesalers, retailers or directly to the consumer.

You can see that at this high level, commerce is a fairly simple concept. Whether it is something as simple as a person making and selling popcorn on a street corner or as complex as a contractor delivering a space shuttle to NASA, all of commerce at its simplest level relies on buyers, sellers and producers.

You must also have a place from which to sell your products. Place can sometimes be very ephemeral -- for example a phone number might be the place, a store can be a place and also a website can be a place. If you are a customer in need of a shoe, if you call "Judy's shoe ltd." on the telephone to order a per of shoe, and if Judy shows up at your office to give you the shoe, then the phone number is the place where you purchased this service.

For most physical products we tend to think of the place as a store or shop of some sort. But if you think about it a bit more you realize that the traditional place which is a store or shop is now going out of fashion and it is being replaced by an e-commerce website or online store which is a combination of an ad or a catalog and a phone number or an email address. Which is more convenience.
