East London - A 17-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in Dutywa, Eastern Cape police said on Monday."It is alleged that the victim was coming from a circumcision ceremony with her boyfriend on Sunday at 03:00 at Thaweni Location, Bende Village, in Dutywa. The two were on their way to the homestead of the boyfriend in the same village," said Captain Jackson Manatha.

He said the two came across the teenager who allegedly, without any provocation, assaulted the woman's boyfriend.The boyfriend ran away, leaving his girlfriend behind."The suspect threatened the 23-year-old woman and raped her. She was then allowed to go home at a later stage where she broke the silence," he said.

Manatha said the police were alerted about the crime and they quickly arrested the teenager."He was handed over to his parents for custody as he is still under age. The suspect is due to appear before the Dutywa Magistrate's Court [on Monday]."

bloglover: I do most of my buying and selling transactions on Olx and I have never been scammed for once neither have I scammed anybody. U guys don't just know how to buy and sell, that's why u get scammed.

1. why not insist on seeing the seller one one one before making purchases, especially substantial purchases. If the seller is not around u, pls don't buy.

2. why not stop paying money in advance then waiting for the goods that may not come, not every body can be trusted.

3. why not properly scrutinize the product before paying for it. (get an engineer if necessary)

4. remember that nobody is forcing u to use Olx, so if u are scammed, its due to your carelessness and as such nobody's business.

please Olx has location demarcation so buy from someone close to your area and stop taking unnecessary risk.
If u don't see what u need close to your area on Olx, u have two options:
a. Go to the market and look for it
b. take d risk and don't complain if things go bad.

Sydney - Australian authorities issued a warning about cheap, non-compliant USB-style chargers on Friday after a young woman died from apparent electrocution while using a laptop and possibly a smartphone.The 28-year-old was found wearing headphones and with her computer in her lap with burns on her chest and ears at a home in Gosford, north of Sydney, in April.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of the death but the Department of Fair Trading, which has assisted with the case, suggested a sub-standard mobile phone charger could be to blame.The woman, whom reports said was from the Philippines but had recently become an Australian citizen, had headphones plugged into her laptop, which was connected to a power socket to charge.

"The phone was also plugged into a USB-style charger. That charger had failed," said Lynelle Collins from the New South Wales Department of Fair Trading."Somehow power from that charger has connected to her body. Whether she had it (the phone) to her ear or was holding it in her hand, we don't know."

Fair Trading said it had removed a number of unapproved and non-compliant USB-style chargers, travel adaptors and power boards from sale in Sydney after the death.They said the devices did not meet essential safety requirements and were often made of inferior plastics and other insulation materials.

Maximum penalties for selling devices that fail Australian standards are A$87 500 ($82 500) and/or two years imprisonment for an individual and a A$875 000 fine for a corporation.


The woman's death is the only known fatality in Australia potentially linked with the chargers, but a report from China in 2013 suggested a woman was electrocuted while making a call on a phone that was charging.
