What wakes you in the morning? A cock crow? A muezzin's call to prayer? Your alarm clock? That's not really important anyway. What do you do when you get out of bed? That's more important. You may have noticed, its slowly becoming a routine for people to rush out of bed and head for the bath tub straight away. Mornings seem to be filled with more pressure than necessary. You want to know what inspired this post? I came across a photo one Sunday night which boldly read: "We Hate Monday Mornings." Oh! really? Monday or Friday, mornings are the same. From a personal research, I discovered that there's usually an increase in individuals' productivity on Fridays unlike any other day. And the simple reason is this, It has become a normal thing for people to say: "Thank God its Friday" as soon as they're awake. There's always an unusual happiness to welcome another weekend. This happiness is the secret reason behind the optimism and rare energy people exhibit mostly on Fridays. What if everyday was a Friday? It doesn't make sense right? How about you repeating some Friday morning habits on every other morning? You can consciously increase your daily productivity by mastering some great morning habits, even if they require that you get out of bed earlier than usual. 1. Don't skip Breakfast. According to health specialists, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It activates your mind and sets you on course for the day's task. No matter how busy you think you are, you'll have to squeeze sometime out for breakfast. It doesn't have to be heavy though. 2. Read something inspiring. You never can tell how powerful this is, and you can never underestimate it's impact. Find a book and read probably just one chapter. It could be also be a poem. Visit a blog, read an article, listen to a radio broadcast, watch a 4minutes video clip. As long as its something inspiring. 3. Make a to-do list. If you're self employed or you work from home, you really need to get used to this. It helps you plan your day. A to-do list makes it easier for you to list the day's tasks, set goals and review them. It plans your time too. If you don't know how to make a to-do list, you definitely need to learn that fast. 4. Develop a Positive Mental Attitude. Your ability to stay positive may be your greatest asset. Approach each day with a positive mental attitude. Be optimistic about everything. Kill your fears. Don't think you'll have a bad day. Don't think you'll be faced with herculean tasks. Don't think you'll get fired. The reason is simple. Your mind has a way of constantly bringing your thoughts to reality. Don't think negative, be positive. 5. Look in your mirror like you've never done before. Spend some seconds staring at your face. While doing this, activate your imaginative power. Let your mind travel far and wide, let it help you imagine all the things you can achieve. You may want to say them, write them or just leave them in your heart. Whatever your mind can conceive, your hands can achieve. If you give these habits a try, you'll match out of your door with a lifted head, a higher jaw and a confident you, that's ready for the day. All you'll do is Win. Faremisodeeq, I'm glad you found the post helpful |
Here is a list of common mistakes most students make in their first year. 1. Underestimating College: Students who perform excellently well in school tend to have developed a serious attitude towards academic work right from their first year. It is really difficult trying to adjust after a whole session. If you can successfully develop the right attitude towards learning from the inception of the semester, you're sure to do better and become better by the day. 2. Over or under socializing: For many students, going to the university or college as is suitable for your locale is a break from the bars of home. This makes many of them go to the extreme in mixing up quickly. Of course you might have taken notice of some of your students who attend all social events. As a really first opportunity for many to live life on their own terms, the result is usually late bed calls, little or no sleep, hanging out late with friends, e.t.c Also, under socializing is bad. You need to socialize WHERE AND WHEN NECESSARY. Avoid being disconnected from happenings around you. You just need to find the right balance. 3. Not asking for assistance: It is normal for most students to be reserved at resumption, but it is wrong to remain inside your shell all through the session. If you have a problem with both academics and extra curricular activities, don't hesitate to ask someone. You shouldn't also make assumptions. Assumption is the lowest level of knowledge. Most of the errors committed by students is as a result of this. Nobody is an island of knowledge. You definitely have something to learn from others. 4. Reckless Spending: It is assumed by your parents that you should be able to take care of yourself and manage your finances. At first year, every student is feeling big, so the temptation is there to try out every new snack, clothes, mobile phones, eateries, fun parks and so on to prove to the world that you're really cool. It is a pity that most students do not learn the art of savings till their second or third year. 5. Forgetting those at home: If you left your friends back at home to go to the university, never forget them. Its a common error to find people making new friends at the expense of old reliable ones. Always keep a close conversation with friends who left for other schools. Your old friends are usually the best. Written by: Victor Uno Wordsmith P.S This post first appeared on www.victoruno..com |
