How did you fix it?
Obettology:
Thanks for your reply;
Am currently doing my preliminary review. I saw a section demanding I should upload a language proficiency cert.
I went through the recognition process and was issued ZAB last year; where I uploaded my ND cert and it's transcript and paid €150.
The deadline is 21 days as of this morning.

Did they asked you after submission? during preliminary review? did they give you deadline? how do you know you are a skilled worker? doing ZAB alone is not enough, are you sure you did ZAB or DAB? only a university degree automatically make you a skilled worker, for people using ND or HND i think you have to do recognition, Anyone who used ND/HND here Should help you with info

Good morning all, please I have a situation currently with my application.
I joined the waiting list Aug 6th last year and was told to submit my documents last week(10 days ago).
Attached is a screenshot from my dashboard requesting that I should upload a language proficiency cert. ]\
Please I need clarification based on this. I have not heard of anyone who applied as a skilled worker(vocational) who was asked for language proficiency cert or did i miss that info??

I am using my National Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering (Automotive) and have already gotten my ZAB.

my WAEC have like 5 years gap hope it doesn't matter

No they don’t it’s clearly stated on their website as part of the requirements for student visa. But Why would you not want to use your WAEC?

Reading through the threads, I noticed many people are confused about whether Junior WAEC (BECE) is required. Some people uploaded it, while others didn’t but it’s not necessary. Don’t stress yourself over it. You do not need Junior WAEC (BECE); only your Senior WAEC is important.

Let me break the silence with some good news

I’m happy to share that I finally received my visa, Decision was made on the 2nd January and i finally received my passport today January 8th.
My interview date was October 22nd, and after waiting patiently until now, it has finally come through.

This journey definitely had its ups and downs. Some people here already know about the back-and-forth and the challenges I faced along the way, but I’m truly grateful that it all worked out in the end. I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported, encouraged, and shared useful information during this process.

To everyone still waiting or preparing for their own visa, I wish you the very best of luck. Stay strong, your turn will come too.

Now, on to the next phase 🇩🇪✈️
If anyone has information on the next steps after landing in Germany such as registration and other important requirements please kindly share a step-by-step guide. I would really appreciate your help.

Thank you all once again, and wishing everyone success on their journey.

Hi everyone, has anyone here used an HND or ND to apply for the Opportunity Card and successfully gotten a visa, or is currently in the process? I’d really appreciate your comments, I have a few questions. Thanks, and Happy New Year to you all!

Did they reject your contract completely, or just say it’s not sufficient? How much is listed as the monthly amount, and did they ask you to provide a full-year Blocked Account or sponsorship letter within two weeks? You should just ask them for guidance since they are in a better position to advise you. Good luck!
lifeofgolden1:
Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for your contributions and insights.
I have a question. Apart from Blocked Account and Declaration of Commitment letter, won't a contract document as someone working remotely suffice? I don't know who else have been in this situation.
I just got word from the embassy staff that my remote job contract is not sufficient proof. In fact, I was asked to go to the OC website to gather information myself - but the website stated that Blocked Account & Declaration of Commitment letter are one of the different ways to prove that you can take care of yourself.

Mehn, I am in a dilemma here. Who else has encountered such a situation and how did you navigate it?

I have literally two weeks to respond or my application will be deleted.

Select EDUCARE24 XL, It costs 63€ per month, offers broad coverage, and allows payment after arrival by selecting Debit from my future account.
Missmarola:
Hello everyone, please I need assistance with getting health insurance. People that used Dr Walter health insurance please,
1. What package did you choose for opportunity card ?
2. How much is the package?
3. Does the package require immediate payment or pay later?

As a medical doctor, your degree falls under a regulated profession, so a Defizitbescheid is more important and necessary. A ZAB statement of comparability is not enough.

Also, make sure you have proof of German language skills. There have been cases where doctors and nurses were rejected and advised to obtain a Defizitbescheid and language certification.

As a medical professional, you work directly with patients, so it is crucial to know medical terminology in German. Your job deals with lives, so language proficiency is essential.

I recommend doing more research, and I wish you the best of luck. Hopefully, someone else will also comment and provide additional guidance.
Boric:
Good day everyone. Trust you are all doing good. Please I wanted to know if medical doctors could also apply for the chancenkarte. If the answer is yes: would they need a defizitbescheid or would a ZAB statement of comparability suffice?
I recognise there may be a limited number of medical doctors going down this path, so I would be grateful if anyone who has an idea about this responds. Thanks in anticipation

Who is the person you used as a reference in your VIDEX form? If the person is in Germany, you need to provide their residence permit before you can pass the preliminary review. If not, you should change it to an organization.
Talk2Bella:
thanks for your response, they're asking I upload their resident permit, doesn't make any sense to ask that when i never stated i knew anyone there.
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 5:11pm On Nov 26, 2025
If the arrival date on your VIDEX or work contract has already passed, it’s nothing to worry about, simply use a new future entry date on your health insurance, and most times the embassy will contact you to confirm a fresh arrival date before stamping your visa, and if they need a new work contract with an updated date, they will request it.
Singlefile:
What about those of us who filled in a set arrival date in the form we submitted has passed? What should we do, or fill in the health insurance date of entering, and if possible, the set date of arrival on a work contract has also passed? Will they ask for a new work contract with another upfront arrival date? Omo the waiting time is still next year ooo
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 6:13pm On Nov 25, 2025
You can get your health insurance at any stage, you can even bring it along on your interview day. However, I advise you to wait until they ask you to submit documents for the preliminary review. Make sure the insurance start date matches the date of entry you indicated on your VIDEX form.

I recommend Dr. Walter Insurance. You can register within minutes, and the confirmation will be sent to your email for upload. You don’t need to make any payment in Nigeria; simply choose the “future payment” option. You will only start paying after you arrive in Germany.
Nuelojei38:
Good evening everyone. I am in the stage of doing Compatibility with ZAB . would love to know, at what stage do you do health insurance, and which do you recommend

Pls do Lagos German Embassy accept Letter of Medium of Instruction? Has anyone used it before?
HudsonTaylor:
No one knows how long it will take to get an appointment, only the Embassy knows that. They didn't issue out dates last week, same with today,no dates. They are still in January 2024. You don't need a german proficiency certificate for an English taught course, but you will definitely need to show proof of English proficiency at your appointment by either getting an IELTS or Letter of Medium of Instruction from your previous University. Generally, the Embassy will ask for a proof of Proficiency you used for your Admission & your admission letter should state that as well.

Hi everyone, I have a question. Does the Lagos embassy accept a statement of result in place of the original certificate for new graduates whose certificates are not yet ready? Has anyone here used a statement of result and had it accepted?

ayopipey:
please can anyone help, i applied for opportunity card since february, i already have a blocked account for 6 months, my previous understanding was that once my University is recognised and also my degree type i wont need a ZAB, turned out during preliminary review in early august they rejected the proof of the anabin database i showed, stating that i have to provide a ZAB, i applied immediately for the ZAB and also pleaded for leniency from the embassy as regards awaiting the ZAB, some few weeks later my portal showed this "Your application cannot be processed
Your application does not meet the necessary requirements or has not been submitted to the German mission responsible for you. It can therefore not be finalised.
Check whether another visa is more suitable for you. You can find further information here"

please i will like to know what this means, its been 3 months now and i now have my ZAB, coupled with some changes which was required during my review which was affidavit that covers all variations of my name e.t.c ....please is there anyone here who has had this experience or who can advise on that step to take? will i have to begin the process all again?
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven:
I guess you applied through the old portal. Which category did you choose?
As far as I know, you can only apply for the Opportunity Card visa through the new portal.
For the proof of funds, you need either a sponsorship letter or a blocked account.
I’m still surprised you didn’t go through the preliminary review and were asked to book an appointment. Are you sure your visa category is Opportunity Card?
I just checked the thread—please be careful of scammers.
saxwizard:
Hi everyone,

Thank you all for keeping the thread active.

I got an email for an appointment to apply.

However, i am still having challenge with the proof of fund, although i have people that really would love to assist me but they are unable to block the money in Germany, they are willing to give me their statement of account as proof. Also for me i have asset in my name that i might be able to present just that they are not physical cash.

Given that i do not have SL/BA can i take this to the embassy because i do not want to pass the opportunity.

I will appreciate all input from my ogas in the house

Thanks for sharing this, pls what is your degree and can you help with the test questions to help others, goodluck
Orhorho:
Carry along, the originals of all the documents you uploaded.
Use Paper clips to hold one photocopy behind each original and arrange them according to the checklist so the interviewer don't bounce you quickly.

You will be asked questions like;
1. Do you speak German?
2. Why Germany?
3. Do you have a reference
4. If Yes, Provide details.
5. Do you have any other friend or relative in Germany?
6. If yes, give details about them.
7. Do you already have job offer?
8. If you don't get a job within the period, what will you do?
9. Why Germany?
10. What will you be doing in Germany?
11. Where will you be living in Germany?
12. How long do you intend to stay in Germany?
13. Have you been to Germany before?
14.Have you been to any other European country before?
15 If yes, for what purpose?
15. Have you been applying for jobs in Germany already?

Basically, your answer leads to the next question.
Your course of study will determine the type of question you will be asked on the Written test.
Make sure you have a photocopy of all the document you already uploaded.

As you approach the Consulate area, some guys around will try to convince you to do extra copies of documents you already have or will try to convince you to pay a token to keep your phone for you. Just ignore them. Switch it off when you get to the gate, and as soon as you are admitted in, they will put your phone and other valuables in a locker.

Before you are allowed in, the security will check your printed appointment confirmation and stamp the time of arrival, so make sure to arrive 30 minutes or more before your appointment time. Just follow every instruction from the security and you will be fine.

Make sure to use the phone while speaking so the interviewer doesn't keep repeating Himself/Herself. I didn't realize that early and it made the interviewer repeat himself several times. I pray to receive a positive response from the Consulate.

Lastly, the interviewer won't ask you for any document you didn't upload.

Wish you all the Best.

TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 1:19pm On Oct 08, 2025
follow Cyberbro advice, go for Blocked Account
wishgit:
Please, who offer SL service as proof, I'm scheduled for Preliminary review but would want to explore SL, Also does part time 20hrs/week contract still be presented as proof? I noticed SL and blocked account as the only 2 options for document uploads.
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 1:18pm On Oct 08, 2025
i support this, if you have money kindly do blocked Account to avoid issues
cyberbro:
Whatever you're doing, stay away from people who say they offer sponsorship letters, it might be a scam. A lot of Nigerians in Germany will milk you for millions of Naira, even if they will issue it, it would cost you so much money.

I always advice people to find a way to raise the money for a blocked account, even if it means that you have to borrow, at least the money would be safe in the blocked account.
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 1:17pm On Oct 08, 2025
Just try to calculate the month they might ask you for preliminary review submission, Blocked account opening doesn't take long you can finish the whole process within 1-2 weeks
DJ28:
Please, when is the appropriate time to open a Blocked Account. I joined the waiting list on September 27.

There is always a deadline for all corrections, only you can know the date, about the reference, send me an email, let me suggest one that would help, goodluck
foonshur:
Ok, so I woke up around 6am this morning to my own set of corrections grin. Was asked to make an affidavit of declaration of age and also write a motivation letter. That shouldn't be a problem. But my biggest worry is the reference page. I provided a reference that stays here in nigeria and for the corrections, they are requesting I provide a reference that stays in germany. I do not have anyone that stays in germany let alone use as a reference. How did you go about this in your case?
How many days were you allowed to make your corrections??
TravelRe: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 6:44pm On Oct 07, 2025
thanks, did you remember your test questions? pls drop it, what is your degree?
Kingsadviser:
Possible Questions to expect:

1. Do you speak German?
2. Why Germany
3. Would you like the interview to be conducted in Deutsch or English?
4. What will you be doing in Germany?
5. Where will you be living in Germany?
6. What are you long term plans?
7. How long do you intend to stay in Germany?
8. Have you been to Germany before?
9. Have you been applying for jobs in Germany already?
9. Any job offer?

NB: these questions can vary depending on the Visa officer interviewing you or the answers you give to proceeding questions.
