Buhari, Osinbajo you don hear wetin your people dey suffer and you see the evil men behind their suffering. Abeg use your office do something nah. If them be your boys and u no wan sack them, just order them to pay nah. No allow make these guys spoil una reputation abeg. |
Nsima Ekere, Mene Derek, how far una two? |
NDDC, how far? |
Now that the Naira has gained some value against the dollar is the best time for them to pay. But it seems some top NDDC directors had gambled the funds on the prediction that naira will SLIDE inteas so the thing don hang them for throat. Na so so story them go dey talk now. If Mr. President is really fighting corruption I wonder why after reading this, he should spare any of those NDDC Directors delaying the payment. Imagine 8 months in a stingy country like UK with. No matter how you work you will still be broke and those Directors are sitting on the payment for no just course even when the money was approved in the budget. Walahi, this is murder! |
What a big shame on NDDC! They've continously abandoned scholars and delayed their payments. Meanwhile, the MD and all their staff are receiving salary monthly. And the money for the scholars was approved since last year. Honestly, this is the height of wickedness. All those withholding the payment, I pray God will deal with them. |

VicWonder:Hmmmm, na wa o! I guess it's all man for himself. None of the successful awardees want to share ideas / plans. Well, good luck to everyone one. As for UK scholars, Hope we run into each other at some point. |
tutudame:For 2016/17 they advertised early April 2016, so I'm guessing it will be around that time next year. |
truebenny:You hit the nail on its head. I'd like to connect with you, I'm a 2016/17 scholar and have been trying to get info from UK scholars. Is there any what's app group for UK scholars? Pls add me, 09097674567, thanks. |
Please successful awardees, does anyone know if and how the N500k will be made available? Has anyone confirmed if it's deducted from the $30k scholarship fund? Is there any group for current and prospective UK scholars? I'd like to join, thanks |
Nuel1647:If that's what they've said this year then I don't see the point comparing it with what was offered last year. |
Nuel1647:Many thanks for clarifying this.... |
Please does anyone know if NDDC pays the PhD tuition fees for the three years all at once or is it paid yearly? I have also heard some conflicting information that NDDC pays the $30k to your school and then you can get the balance (i.e. difference between $30k and your actual tuition fee) from your school. Anyway, tomorrow a lot should be clarified and please ask as many questions as you can guys. |
geobukky:OMG!!!! I made the list, thank God! Just a few days ago I was put-off by some people planning to protest on social media and all what not. Only to receive a text message this morning inviting me for Pre-Departure briefing. I'm still pinching myself to see if it's real. God, I can only thank you and that's why I have been saying since that the battle is better fought on our knees not by protesting. Congrats to all other awardees and to all those rejoicing with us, next year something greater will be your portion. |
Dneroomero:You have the right only when you've been awarded. If you like take to the media, but speak for yourself only please. Put your name and sign so nddc can know who you are; you never know they may decide to release a list with only your name, after all its your right! |
ypzilanti:Guys have gone crazy! Like others have said, it would've been better for whoever wrote this to speak for him/her self. |
Dneroomero:On what grounds are you revolting when you're not yet a scholar? It's a shame that you think we want the scheme to be cancelled; as always you've missed the point and you should wake up indeed! |
shophut:Whoever resorted to twitter and EFCC is completely senseless! It has been reiterated here time without number that we don't have the right to push NDDC to release the list rather it would be a privilege to be given the award especially in the current economic state of the country. If you're one of those impatient people please don't spoil the show for those of us who clearly understand that the battle is best fought on our knees. |
efeturi3:I think this is a better approach. Just go and visit and inquire verbally even though I know you're not likely to get a definite answer but at least it will remind the commission that we are waiting. Please if you do go, be as polite and patient as possible. Let me re-iterate, the commission has every right to suspend the programme in the wake of the current economic hardship and none of us would be able to raise an eyebrow to that. The scholarship is a privilege not a right so let's soft-pedal on our approach please. As for "Dneroomero" who still insists on writing a letter, good luck! and please let someone edit the letter first 'cause I can see that you're not very sound with your tenses (perhaps they are typo' errors). Please don't take it personal but I feel it would be embarrassing for the commission to read a letter full of grammatical errors from a prospective scholar. |
I still don't think it's a good idea to write to nddc of even visit them as a group. It looks like the few people going to visit are trying to gain some sympathy and have their names on the list. Be patient for heavens sake! And please if you still stubborn enough to go then speak for yourself(ves) only as you can see the house is divided on the issue. NDDC can very simply say they can't afford the scheme this year and none of you will be able to cough. If you're that eager for a September start then you must've had a plan B, otherwise please wait till next year. I think it's better to handle this issue on our knees and God will provide the answers we need in Peace and confidence. |
Dneroomero:Whilst I understand that we all are eager for the list to be released, I don't think it's a good idea to resort to social media as I doubt if it will perturb NDDC at all. I also don't think Asari, Amaechi, Ikeji etc. should be involved - what's the point? No one knows for sure if their names will be on the list so we really don't have the impetus to push things that far. Also, I heard (I am not sure o!) that the list would not be released by the outgoing board, so we may have to wait till the new MD and board members resume office. Senate will have to clear the new board first and since senate will resume from their ageless recess mid-next week we cannot expect the list to be out sooner. Please don't get me wrong, I wish the list was already out but it's very optimistic to hope that it will be out within next two weeks since senate will have to clear the new board and they will need some time to settle in to office. In summary, please bin the idea of using facebook and twitter and involving irrelevant parties to our plight. Secondly, hope for the list to be out soon (within 2 weeks) but have contingency plans in place and more realistically expect it by month end at the earliest. |
chudidonas:Na wa o! Na Niger Delta e go marry na. Priceless is ready o! NDDC fit sponsor the wedding o! |
baresi22:Bros, congrats! I know it's been difficult but hopefully the end would justify the means. NDDC has finally paid but sadly they have already done some irreparable damage on some people's performance. On a brighter note, I hope they would sit up and pay subsequent scholars in time. Congrats again!!!! |
emeroking:Apologies for changing the topic but I just think it's necessary to quash this rumour so you don't plan to invite your people to UK without them obtaining a visa. It's a BIG lie! Pls see link below, Commonwealth citizens still need visa to visit UK. Don't get me wrong, I wish the rumour was true. In fact, I was jumping around when I read emeroking's link and I even started looking up flights and dates to visit the UK but sadly the information in that link is untrue and I don't want anyone to be misguided. The link below confirms that sadly we still need visa to visit UK. https://www.bic-immigration.com/immigration-news/item/392-rumours-about-scrapping-of-uk-tourist-visa-for-commonwealth-citizens/392-rumours-about-scrapping-of-uk-tourist-visa-for-commonwealth-citizens Also refer to link below and do the simple check from UK immigration office to see that we (including Commonwealth citizens) require standard visitor visa for UK. https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa |
CharlesOfForbes:Yes, you're so wrong and I'm here to correct you. NDDC is responsible for the balance between tuition fees and the $30k provided. The fact that your friend was buoyant enough to take care of his accommodation doesn't justify NDDC's failure to provide living expenses (or at least the balance between $30k and tuition fees). You go and wake up!!! do your research about studying and working in UK for the purpose of survival before you make unreasonable comments here. |
Ugoerico:You think it's easy to combine a technical course with working in the UK? think again please. The programme schedule is so tight that you will struggle to even breathe talkless of work; unless perhaps you're going to one of those sub-standard schools or studying one of those cheap courses. Besides, how much can you really earn from 20hrs work per week? even at the current minimum wage of £7.20, if the chap works for 80 hrs a month (which is not practical) he will end up with just £576. How do you expect him to pay rent and bills and still keep his head up and study? The Scholarship award we understand was meant to be $30k a year and I doubt if his school fees is up to that so by all means he has the right (plus left sef) to voice out his frustration. It is very disappointing that you guys are now pointing fingers at him. Wait for your turn if you succeed in getting it, then you will know how hard it is. |
coventryuni:Would you assist candidates that are not going to Coventry but would still be studying in the UK? |
Nasa28:It depends on when your latest start date is |
doctortam:The fact the the test was lopsided to favour candidates from certain disciplines and the gross amount of glitches with the blank options tend to nullify any sense of transparency. The test should either be disgarded or its contribution to the overall performance should be downgraded. In like manner, the interview results should be published ASAP to avoid any manipulations. Finally, the rationale for selection i.e. The number of masters and PhD awardees from each state and course of study should be specified. This will help candidates to gain confidence in the commission so called fair play policy. |
tochiddy:What a shame! It's very unfair to those of us of us who had blank answer options. In the first place the test was heavily electrically engineered and the blank options were pure mathematics questions which would've been easily answered to give us a higher score. Anyway, let's see what happens, I only hope the interview carries a larger portion of the marks (like 75%) to balance out the injustice in the test. The results on the NDDC website are for the CBT only not the interview. |
Generosa:I've been hearing that within two weeks they will start giving the award letters to successful applicants to enable them apply for visa for September entry |
