Now that the Naira has gained some value against the dollar is the best time for them to pay. But it seems some top NDDC directors had gambled the funds on the prediction that naira will SLIDE inteas so the thing don hang them for throat. Na so so story them go dey talk now.

If Mr. President is really fighting corruption I wonder why after reading this, he should spare any of those NDDC Directors delaying the payment. Imagine 8 months in a stingy country like UK with. No matter how you work you will still be broke and those Directors are sitting on the payment for no just course even when the money was approved in the budget.

Walahi, this is murder!

What a big shame on NDDC! They've continously abandoned scholars and delayed their payments. Meanwhile, the MD and all their staff are receiving salary monthly.

And the money for the scholars was approved since last year. Honestly, this is the height of wickedness. All those withholding the payment, I pray God will deal with them.

Just before u make an issue of my personal experience, please refer to Sections 177-182 (specifically section 181) of the Tier 4 of the Points Based System - Policy Guidance ( I have saved u the stress of finding it by providing the link above), which reads...

Section 181- If you are currently financially sponsored by a government or an
international scholarship agency or your financial sponsorship ended within
12 months of your application being made, you will need your sponsor’s
permission to stay in or re-enter the UK. You must provide us with your
financial sponsor’s unconditional consent in writing. This must confirm that
your sponsor has no objection to you continuing your studies in the UK. If
your financial sponsor does not give consent, we will refuse the application.

Hearing the 500,000 NGN is true. Good move by NDDC. However it is not an extra scholarly allowance. It will be taken from the $30,000.
This development just started this year.

Current scholars please help me confirm this information. I want responses.
If that's what they've said this year then I don't see the point comparing it with what was offered last year.

Nuel1647:
It's $30,000 per year for the three years.
If you are doing a PhD you get paid three times once per year. For MSc it's once.

You heard wrongly.

NDDC only pays the tuition to your school.
The balance between the tuition and your $30,000 is paid directly by NDDC to your account.
Many thanks for clarifying this....
EducationRe: NDDC 2016 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Application Commences by VicWonder: 12:43pm On Oct 03, 2016
Please does anyone know if NDDC pays the PhD tuition fees for the three years all at once or is it paid yearly? I have also heard some conflicting information that NDDC pays the $30k to your school and then you can get the balance (i.e. difference between $30k and your actual tuition fee) from your school. Anyway, tomorrow a lot should be clarified and please ask as many questions as you can guys.

What is senseless about the letter? What else were you expecting? Is just unfortunate that a handful is taking its time to push while the rest sit to abuse, cause and all.

NDDC Scholarship scheme is your full right and not a privilege. You have the right to scold the commission when they fall short of their obligations.

I have not really taken to the media and when I start you'll all hear from me.

As for the rest who have defered their admission; you are on a lone-thing.

#StayCalmJusticeIsClose
You have the right only when you've been awarded. If you like take to the media, but speak for yourself only please. Put your name and sign so nddc can know who you are; you never know they may decide to release a list with only your name, after all its your right!

Some propective scholars have taken to their twitter handle to demand EFCC to investigate NDDC scholarship scheme. This is absolutely a move in the wrong direction. I did advice all here to defer their admission to next academic session. Until we have been awarded the scholarship, we cant be NDDC scholars. For now we are mere applicants. Let us wait and pray before we take to the social media. My opinion.
Whoever resorted to twitter and EFCC is completely senseless! It has been reiterated here time without number that we don't have the right to push NDDC to release the list rather it would be a privilege to be given the award especially in the current economic state of the country. If you're one of those impatient people please don't spoil the show for those of us who clearly understand that the battle is best fought on our knees.

I read all the comments and I want to suggest as follow... Anyone staying in Port Harcourt should please visit NDDC headquarters on Wednesday after the Salah. He or she should see the director of education of the commission and inquire when the expected list will be coming out. Any volunteer ??
I think this is a better approach. Just go and visit and inquire verbally even though I know you're not likely to get a definite answer but at least it will remind the commission that we are waiting. Please if you do go, be as polite and patient as possible. Let me re-iterate, the commission has every right to suspend the programme in the wake of the current economic hardship and none of us would be able to raise an eyebrow to that. The scholarship is a privilege not a right so let's soft-pedal on our approach please.

As for "Dneroomero" who still insists on writing a letter, good luck! and please let someone edit the letter first 'cause I can see that you're not very sound with your tenses (perhaps they are typo' errors). Please don't take it personal but I feel it would be embarrassing for the commission to read a letter full of grammatical errors from a prospective scholar.
EducationRe: NDDC 2016 Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Application Commences by VicWonder: 9:16am On Sep 09, 2016
I still don't think it's a good idea to write to nddc of even visit them as a group. It looks like the few people going to visit are trying to gain some sympathy and have their names on the list.

Be patient for heavens sake! And please if you still stubborn enough to go then speak for yourself(ves) only as you can see the house is divided on the issue.

NDDC can very simply say they can't afford the scheme this year and none of you will be able to cough. If you're that eager for a September start then you must've had a plan B, otherwise please wait till next year.

I think it's better to handle this issue on our knees and God will provide the answers we need in Peace and confidence.

Dneroomero:
Good morning respected people… I greet you all!!!

I HAVE A PLAN AND I WOULD WANT YOUR ADVICE……..

While we wait for next week to come which to me is a bit risky. Let’s do it now, this week against next week so that before next week we should start getting results.

THIS IS WHAT I WANT…..

I want us to push the hand of the commission, NDDC, to bring out the list next week…!!!! HOW?

THIS IS HOW:

I have a letter I have written stating why the delay in releasing the list, what is happening at the commission level,
schools in the UK have resumed but NDDC prospective scholars are still in Nigeria nothing yet.

SO FOR THAT, THIS IS MY TAKE:

1. Everybody should create a TWITTER handle account. Use the account and share the letter with;
• Asari Dokubo
• Linda Ikeji
• NDDC MD-Designate Nsima Udo Ekere
• Punch, Vanguard, This Day twitter handles…
• NDDC Acting-MD, Ibim Semenitari

2. Everybody with a FACEBOOK ACCOUNT Should do this:
• Post on Asari Dokubo Facebook Page
• Post on NDDC Facebook Page
• Post on Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi (Min. Of Transportation)
• Acting – MD NDDC, Ibim Semenitari Facebook Page.
• Share with the following media houses on their Facebook Page (Today fm 95.1, Rhythm, Nigeria-Info, Wazobia fm).
• Share with every other media houses you feel should see our message
• Share with anybody you know is big to hear us

3. Share this letter until opposition will see it, Critics will see it, Activist will see it, Humanitarian Bodies will see it, Concern NDDC Stake-
Holders will see it… Don’t Stop until we get an ANSWER, Don’t Stop Until They Hear us… DON’T STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To this end I have said too much, it is time to put all to ACTION…

NOTE:
Please before you do all these take note of the following…..

1. Create a new Facebook Account, Twitter Account for this purpose
2. No pictures
3. No Phone Numbers
4. Avoid being traced
5. Remain Anonymous…..

After these exercise I assure you, you will feel better for yourself….

THE QUESTION IS;
ARE WE READY?

I know 100+ persons are seeing this post. Please when you get this letter do as we have discussed.

But before the letter is passed on to this forum, I want to hear from the HOUSE.
ARE WE OK WITH THE IDEA?

I need Contributions and advice……

Again, Peace be unto you all……….
Whilst I understand that we all are eager for the list to be released, I don't think it's a good idea to resort to social media as I doubt if it will perturb NDDC at all. I also don't think Asari, Amaechi, Ikeji etc. should be involved - what's the point? No one knows for sure if their names will be on the list so we really don't have the impetus to push things that far.

Also, I heard (I am not sure o!) that the list would not be released by the outgoing board, so we may have to wait till the new MD and board members resume office. Senate will have to clear the new board first and since senate will resume from their ageless recess mid-next week we cannot expect the list to be out sooner. Please don't get me wrong, I wish the list was already out but it's very optimistic to hope that it will be out within next two weeks since senate will have to clear the new board and they will need some time to settle in to office.

In summary, please bin the idea of using facebook and twitter and involving irrelevant parties to our plight. Secondly, hope for the list to be out soon (within 2 weeks) but have contingency plans in place and more realistically expect it by month end at the earliest.

Apologies for changing the topic but I just think it's necessary to quash this rumour so you don't plan to invite your people to UK without them obtaining a visa.

It's a BIG lie! Pls see link below, Commonwealth citizens still need visa to visit UK. Don't get me wrong, I wish the rumour was true. In fact, I was jumping around when I read emeroking's link and I even started looking up flights and dates to visit the UK but sadly the information in that link is untrue and I don't want anyone to be misguided.

The link below confirms that sadly we still need visa to visit UK.

Also refer to link below and do the simple check from UK immigration office to see that we (including Commonwealth citizens) require standard visitor visa for UK.

Exactly. I don't think i remember seeing anywhere that NDDC is responsible for scholar's upkeep (correct me of i am wrong). I have a friend who was a beneficiary of this scholarship years back and he had to take care of his accommodation and feeding. Not to sound insensitive or anything but the people complaining about not being paid allowance for upkeep should find a way and hustle. Students are entitled to work permit of 20 hrs a week, which should be enough to take care of one's accommodation and feeding. I think the fellow complaining is either waiting for a professional enough job or something(wakeup brother!!!), meanwhile hustlers are taking up retail jobs or even care job to survive. Like i said again, correct me of i am wrong. Good luck to the scholars
Yes, you're so wrong and I'm here to correct you. NDDC is responsible for the balance between tuition fees and the $30k provided. The fact that your friend was buoyant enough to take care of his accommodation doesn't justify NDDC's failure to provide living expenses (or at least the balance between $30k and tuition fees). You go and wake up!!! do your research about studying and working in UK for the purpose of survival before you make unreasonable comments here.

you are very correct bro. I tink de issue is dat some people are still not aware dat even in abroad, one has to still huzzle seriosly to make it,it is a universal truth. Do you agree dat he that complains over upkeep while studying ABROAD will still complain upkeep even after graduation and in labour market, because evn with the MSC over there, your "professional job is still not a guarantee" so why waiting to graduate before you channel your Nigerian given energy and strength to somthing doing? Weda day or night!!!
You think it's easy to combine a technical course with working in the UK? think again please. The programme schedule is so tight that you will struggle to even breathe talkless of work; unless perhaps you're going to one of those sub-standard schools or studying one of those cheap courses. Besides, how much can you really earn from 20hrs work per week? even at the current minimum wage of £7.20, if the chap works for 80 hrs a month (which is not practical) he will end up with just £576.

How do you expect him to pay rent and bills and still keep his head up and study? The Scholarship award we understand was meant to be $30k a year and I doubt if his school fees is up to that so by all means he has the right (plus left sef) to voice out his frustration. It is very disappointing that you guys are now pointing fingers at him. Wait for your turn if you succeed in getting it, then you will know how hard it is.

This is from the horse's mouth.....The transparency, which may have been a swift reaction to the nepotism-alarming report, is quite commendable. Hopefully, the process will be fair till the end.
The fact the the test was lopsided to favour candidates from certain disciplines and the gross amount of glitches with the blank options tend to nullify any sense of transparency. The test should either be disgarded or its contribution to the overall performance should be downgraded. In like manner, the interview results should be published ASAP to avoid any manipulations. Finally, the rationale for selection i.e. The number of masters and PhD awardees from each state and course of study should be specified. This will help candidates to gain confidence in the commission so called fair play policy.

Same with me, was given +2 on paper as abt two of my qstn had no option, but its not reflecting on d page. Not fair though but I believe the interview is the ultimate determinant.
What a shame! It's very unfair to those of us of us who had blank answer options. In the first place the test was heavily electrically engineered and the blank options were pure mathematics questions which would've been easily answered to give us a higher score. Anyway, let's see what happens, I only hope the interview carries a larger portion of the marks (like 75%) to balance out the injustice in the test.

The results on the NDDC website are for the CBT only not the interview.
