I have a proposal which will be effective, if we will buy the idea. Let's contribute and make a paid advert in a national daily, then follow it up with massive social media campaign. This is because whatever we do here on social media,the vast majority who would have been sympathetic to our cause, are not aware.If you look at what it would cost you to pay for your transport and accommodation in PH, and yet be deceived by NDDC officials, or even angered by them,you will see that it will cost us far less to take out a paid advert in a national daily. And it will yeild far more result.

This is welcomed considering how the recent payment has become a huge campaign point for pro govt folks who were embarrased with the debts. Thats just a result to show the extent to which the publicity of the problem affected the already not-so-good image of NDDC even acknowledged by the chairman.
can u suggest further / can current scholars link us to their media sources?

To be honest I don't think NDDC can conclude the 2018 scholarship scheme by May, going by what the Chairman alluded to.I am all in the only problem is Abuja to PH is quite a distance...

Good thoughts. The solution is to guide their confusion to releasing the list by pressurizing firmly whichever way we can.
The logistics challenge of being in PH from farther distances across Nigeria cannot be overemphasized.

How about those who may have proceeded for studies self-sponsored with the hope of reimbursement if they make the list as one of the directors in NDDC advised/suggested. Isn't it unfair to all sides?
Jst imagine the cost of going over this process again for a task that was resoundly completed. This will be foolish and cost ineffective.

Premuim Times has reported that NDDC has cleared the backlog of payment with an official statement from the Chairman. ( Hoping the last tranche of payment has been forwarded to CBN)
They acknowledged the gratitude to them by scholars on social media meaning they see those tweets.

Pls put a call through for the release of the list. Thank You.

Those were his words and I won't know his intentions. Though i think its both the list and new process...
We have been told lately here that they do not have any intentions to jettision 2017 award list and we shouldn't suggest it to them but demand for the list. I wouldn't trust any of these guys from there until what has to be done is done. We ought to learn from past experiences and be proactive.
If you are concerned about the list to be out then you may have to make effort in asking for it or continue if you are already doing so.

The MD on monday said they will continue to "massively invest on the post graduate scholarship and are considering sponsoring gifted minds for undergraduate scholarship."
It seems some funds have or is being released to NDDC soon for this euphoric excitement they are now having.
Though undergraduate sponsorship is welcomed but they must think deep about their preparedness. I can't imagine undergraduates going through this psychological stress as a result of delayed fees problems.
The MD is saying that by May "processes for selecting post graduate scholarship would be concluded" Maybe the list will be out soon and new process begin to be concluded in may. We should still continue to demand for the list even more now. Vague assurances is not enough as experienced before by those who reportedly visited him for enquires of 2017 award list and he reneged on his promises to them.

My Guy its 2017 budget o. I know you may be suprised but thats our country for you. I was confused as well when Sen.Saraki read a letter from PMB for an accelerated consideration and passage of the commission's 2017 budget estimates of which Sen. Saraki gave the committee on NDDC to get it done in 2weeks. By Feb 6th they shld submit their report. Let's hope as earlier suggested by @lololohvfbhb cld be true on the list.

Pls this is even the more reason we shld call out more for the list now that their budget is in the Senate. I must commend the account owner of tweets to the Senate and HoR on the list matter yesterday. That was very thoughtful. We shld jointly push more.

Some persons are making effort to meet with the Minister on 2017 award issue by proxy. I pray that meeting happens soon. We are encouraged to reachout through those we may know to prevail upon them for the list to be released at least for planning sake.

We shouldn't forget that the fireworks for next year's general elections is lit and thus governance will be slow while politicking takes centre stage. So, we must jointly advance this cause on time. Over 1000 interviewees can jointly and civily make this happen. Your little effort will make the difference. Thanks

I'm I Abuja and can devote time to this if it pulls through. she s one person that is sympathetic to our cause, let's work with her. also those in pH can organize and visit the headquarters on a working day to Inquire, cos if we don't act fast they'll think we have moved on with life and don't need scholarship.

Can we try this suggestion of visiting the commission as a group for enquiries/release of the list. Those close to officials in NDDC can help cordinate this in order to keep us in the know when the management is likely to be on sit. Other communication channels can be used simultaneously.

I had a unpleasant conversation with one of the media aids to this board. The fellow tried to exonerate the board of any wrong doing and passing the blame on " FG" for the delay of this funds. I told him to relate the message well to his bosses that soon we'll be advocating louder than ever from all angles in demand for the pay/list as they resume work next. week.

I Hope this problems end soon.

I’m afraid this has nothing to do with “NDDC”. Yes they are inefficient, but before 2016, before this NDDC and APC administration came to CHANGE things, the list comes out by late September to Early October and payments by mid November to early December (generally within two months of the scholar’s resumption)
This current behaviour is unrecognisable and unacceptable on many levels. In my view it will not CHANGE until the current people at the helm of NDDC are removed. .

And The incompetent mgt being aware of the workings of govt, tactically waited till mid-december for an "alledged" payment approval. yeye dey smell. who is deceiving who? I jst pity those that keep falling for their dirty gimmicks.

NDDC is always in the news for the wrong reasons. Some pple are now blaming CBN for the delay? Abeg shine your eyes o. These politicians are wicked. They will continue to play to the gallery. Now "festive period" is the new narrative. ok we shall see.

The Era of this board issuing promises and giving lame excuses each time the polity gets heated should end. Even majority of the personnel in the commission are not satisfied with how they run these things.

I dnt knw y owed scholars keep falling for their antics. This has got to end.

2018 will be an interesting year in this region. Different groups will occupyNDDC.
Let them continue to be stupid and feel larger than life. Their media campaigns discreditting previous board when their own performance is worse is jst double standard known abt them before crossing party lines.

The current board that has not completed any initiated project of theirs is making noise. From Scholarship To Skill/enterprenueral recruitment all inconclusive speaks of crass incompetence. That list will be out. They are not the first nor going to be the last in NDDC. Jst imagine the insignificant few causing confusion in the region.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this problem has lingered for too long with no end in sight. The Mgt have deliberately negleted scholars to wallow in pain in the disguise of auditing the scheme endlessly for over 9months. This will affect the future of this scheme. They will never do this to their relatives. Is it a crime to be a Nigerian? The privilege few have subjected us to hardship while their wards squander our collective wealth. This scholarship scheme is a hope for the gifted of the common man but it has been hijacked and made a mess by those we hold in trust. We are now in democracy and enough of the commando style of administration without accountability. This MD jst bagged a media award for nothing. we have to take to same media and other means in demanding for what is ours. Let ur conscience speak to u,for this suffering & silence is too much.

If we must act,then we have to collectively do so now.

All I wait for now is the payment of owed scholars after which we will take it from there.
@ Sethmelia u rightly put it that the minister is mindful of the showdown & outcry if anything happens to the list not being released. Thank God they know and you know. Our silence so far is out of reasoning and understanding for our friends who are owed.
@ Sethmelia, Why has ur source not informed you about the timeline for the payment of owed scholars same way he/she told u of the new application timeline?
New applications can only begin after the 2017 list is made public.
They shldn't test our collective resolve. We have done all that they required from us and so we'll demand same from them.

Nobody is getting ready for this other than the payment of owed scholars and the release of the 2017 list. If this board members think they can do and undo with people's lives then this will mark their exit from the appointment. Suspending the scheme temporarily was hard to take but outright cancelling of that process with all the pains that pple went through will be strongly resisted. Go and tell them that.

The way this thing is going calls for emergency action. It's a month now since the scheme was suspended yet no timeline for payment. Few days to December and yuletide season begins with the normal low attitude to work in these MDAs during this period, one cannot afford to sit and wait on jst promises. We have to occupy and demand for answered.

I think the fellow that mentioned that payments will be made this week is right. I had to cry out via email on Monday to NDDC scholarship coordinator to please look into our plight. Surprisingly I got a response today from NDDC office informing that our payments are being processed. Well, this is the first time I have had a definite response from them for a long time. So fingers crossed. God help us all.

Amen ooo, pls it shld be done fast to avoid this current wahala at senate on their tenure extension stall the process. God dey.

Now i can see that this present board is confused. Jst last month they concluded application for skill acquisition training. Now, barely a month they have began another fresh skill acquisition application again without the logical conclusion of the previously advertised one.
Where are we heading to with all these?

The tenure of this board is meant to end by December 2017 following the rotational principle among member states by the NDDC ACT except they get an extension which is being strongly resisted by IYC,IPDI and other pressure groups in the region.

They (NDDC Board) are meant to put their house in order but are acting absurdly. Abeg MNDA shld come and cordinate them ooo, seems they are bereft of ideas.

Now that we have the opportunity to engage the Minister who supervises NDDC, I would believe by now this matters will be trending.

Wow, Y'all have chased @Cebu away. He's been right with update of Nddc past scholarships timeline. This post is the first in specifics of all he has posted concerning the time frame to expect the list. However, this is not to say that it will be so(b4 i get slaughtered here) But one thing I know is that the end is in sight. I will not say anything more that i already know. Happy Waiting.

We may disagree to agree. My Point against u is u calling fellow columnist here names for pple that are not worth it. That List She publish was doctored period. She also delayed publishing it till end of sept. So why praise her for doing her job incompetently while trying to score cheaply on becoming substantive MD against the rotation principle of the office amongst member state.
Nsima on the other hand is no good at all. His battered reputation for being a tight-fisted crook per excellence which led to his hurried resignation to avoid impeachment as a Deputy Gov in 2012 still hangs in the open.
Ameachi his benefactor gave him this limelight again to spite perceived political enemies.
None of them shld be commended until they show a paradigm shift from the old order. That will be all so as not to derail this thread.

Sir. We are not fools. Stop this eye-service. Even if there was a wrong doing should this numskull keep us in the dark? He has not communicated with candidates since May. Does he think that place is his father's house? The past NDDC MD/CEO has been the most successful and transparent. She published results immediately, did interviews immediately, paid transport fares promptly and selected the highest scoring candidates. I was proud of her despite that I narrowly didnt make because Imo had higher scores but didnt get more like Rivers and Delta.

U r more of what u call others. Don't also come here to defend any of them. Any List that was published can also be altered before it was published. Do u think those examiners were independent from influence from "above" during her time? SMH

I feel there's been deliberate negligence by the mgt to punish those scholars.some who they may have discovered to be "special candidates" that received awards without participating in the selection process as its being alledged otherwise i don't see why it is taking this long to resolve that issue. It all seem to be a vendetta mission being carried out.
