Those that fed fat from scholarship budget are not ghost. The current Mgt can fish them out and flush them from being involved any longer. This matter has lingered for too long. |
sethmelia002:Is it right to say the previous budget for this was embezzled? How will NDDC blame scholars for not traveling early/changing schools when they(NDDC) are the cause by not mobilizing them on time. The commission cant absolve itself of the problems scholars are facing. I will join u to pray continuoslly cos its high time the financial irregularities end. Like my brother said, we deserve better. |
shophut:What do you understand by the word incompetency? Using over 12 months to solve a task that requires less of the time needed for it is called what.? Repeating the same delay in mobilizing successful candidates which caused the issues being investigated up till now is called what? A word is enough for the wise. |
xenaaa:Thank you. This will put to rest some of the troubles of speculations in here. God bless you and everyone of us consciously engaging the authorities to make things get better. |
Everybody with their own sources. Which of them is credible to go with? A lot of us have been praying for the list to be released. I believe the content of the list has been settled already. Is Releasing it now a problem? Na wa. Well, the week isn't over yet. I will hope that it will be released. |
sethmelia002:Wow, u always amaze me. u seem to have headache for pple hoping for an early release of the list(which is already late). Don't get irritated cos ur irritating pessimistic attitude to the list being released is becoming contageous. U hv dropped ur own info 4 some pple to believe also allow others to believe what they want. Anyways na NDDC dey bring this confusion. |
Y'all shld make some noise the list is .................. |
sources with no "sauce" |
sethmelia002:Are U a staff of NDDC? cos i dnt grab or see the sense u trying to make as tho everyone except u dat comments here is jobless. Now if u are a staff with them u need to wake up and refrain from spying here to defend that "boss" who may have sent u here to defend incompetency. If u r nt part of them, then i'll suggest u contribute positivity here. Thank U. |
xenaaa:Lol. Mr. Prophet. |
xenaaa:My dear most universities do have a percentage of admissions for their staff wards without rancour, but it doesn't stop the wards from going thru d selection process with a minimum acceptable performance from them. I believe the current management shld be aware of any perks 4 staff which shldn't affect the intergrity of the scheme so the 2017 list ought to be out. If NDDC could at least communicate with us on this delay and the steps being taken to mitigate further problems, i think that will be more honourable and acceptable by us. Abi no be so? |
sethmelia002:What has 2015 set got to do with 2017? If the management claims and can prove it that the few yet to be paid are fraudulent, then they should terminate the scholarship after a fair hearing and proper investigations, forge ahead without fear/favour and let the cabal that issued letters cater for their wards. Such impunity is like not enrolling in a school yet u bag a degree even before legitimate students. 2) As much as favouritism cannot be ruled out,the candidates must at least go through the selection process for sanity sake. 3) That Director needs cleansing & shld do a comprehensive research on scholarship and its administration.S(he) shld have their mind restructured. |
Alicella:Wow, this is getting interesting by the day. If this is true, then those scholars shld jst shut up and dance to the music that they started. They didn't go through the process of selection and were awarded. So much arrogance and impunity. |
I hope the list comes out this week. Enough of this grave silence. |
shophut:Thank you for your suggestion about using national newspapers, however all media platforms should be used in advancing this cause. We shld not be concerned about their media aids being non-chalant,the idea is to have massive publicity abt this problem. |
Goodmorning All. As many of us that have taken this petition to God Almighty in our prayers over the past weeks, its time to also civily and honourably engage the relevant authorities in bringing a lasting positive solution to NDDC scholarship problems. The negative trend of late briefing and poor management of scholars' welfare will continue if we don't speak up now. We can achieve a thousand voices if we sincerely act in unison. I humbly beg and raise our senses of human conscience not to sit on the fence on this.We owe ourselves the duty of bringing change to these problems. Sign the petition, join the twitter campaign and let our problems be known. Thank You. |
I know of a few 2016 Scholars who couldn't travel for studies because they lacked funds for travel expenses and waited in vain for the #500k to be paid which never came. Now, what happens to their appropraited scholarship funds? cos the scholarship as i'm told has time limit of abt 6months validity(not confirmed). The priviledged scholars who left for studies by self sponsorship went without asking questions, went through hell before some of them after wailing began to receive payments. How can a scholar be paid #500k travel allowance months after when it was needed? There's no shame in NDDC adapting and even improving on the PTDF model of scholarship administration. We all can see that the "i don't care attitude" towards accountability will surely be disastrous if we don't stop it now. They Shld know that, they can fool some people all the time but they cannot fool all the people all the time. |
Weldone Comrades. This is a good step in the right direction. I have repeated and will still do.NDDC is well funded to run the best scholarship scheme in Nigeria, yet corruption has made it rocket science for the handlers to do a simple task. Pls we must not be short-changed. All allowances must be demanded for. Some persons are feeding fat at the expense of scholars. It is wickedness. No sane NDDC official will allow their wards' future to be handled like this. 2017 scholarship and beyond must be administered with accountability. If U decide to be indifferent to this cause, let your conscience judge u for u may suffer even a worse fate than the current scholars are going thru. The level & extent this cry for accountability will reach depends on all of us. The Time To Act Is Now. |
Our patience is being exploited. Indeed the patient dog really dies just like 2015 scholars were patient reading that article.Being A Scholar is honourable and noble and it shld b maintained so no matter what. I wonder why NDDC would be financially incompetent in maintaining a scholarship scheme that is more of a financial grant as the $30K yearly pay is no longer sufficient with increasing tuition and living cost yearly. Now IOC's are developing cold feet with their interest in social community responsibility cos 3% of their annual profit is for NDDC,yet nothing substantial on ground to show for it even running scholarship is rocket science for NDDC. Recently NDDC said the FG owes it #1.8trn as contribution for 17yrs and Shell says it has remitted $31bn to NDDC.We can all reason the remittance by d rest IOCs. It pains me as a Niger Deltan to see these and most of us including my humble self is guilty for not demanding for accountability. "we dey inside water dey cry say soap dey enter our eyes" |
adayola:Good Riddance To Bad Rubbish(NDDC). We must continue to demand for accountability from NDDC. There has been no communication as though it is ran by darkness. Can NDDC management subject their love ones to this ill treatment of waiting aimlessly when schools are already resuming? If it has been happening so then it should change. 2017 Scholars Shine your eyes and demand accountability before u depart for studies else ur funds may be misappropraited like the previous yrs and scholars will be left hanging. Its either the scheme is well administered or completely ended cos human lives cannot be abandoned like some construction projects. How does NDDC expect scholars to travel for studies without mobilization being paid for that. Is the scholarship for the rich who can as well fund themselves? |
sparowtipsy:Going by the 2017 application advert for no defer/course&institution change, it meant there was going to be a change on how the scheme is to be administered thus the current optimism for timely briefing. |
Ovywils:Padi-mi, i dey feel the dissappointment too as a prospective scholar. The wait has been daunting i must confess. Nevertheless, what is worth doing is worth doing well. However,Releasing The List for 2017 to me wouldn't affect fixing 2015 PhD scholars' payment perhaps the authorities don't want more criticism in doing that at this time. Let Us hope that these are resolved on time. |
agongajoseph:If this is substantial, good enough. The scheme needs to be sanitized and placed on track again so scholars hopefully in the future won't go through hardship. More Grace to everyone demanding for accountability. |
divinehand2003:Are u rejoicing at this? anyways its 2017/2018 list and not 2016/2017. |
divinehand2003:So, y d news on this thread. What point are you making? |
To Whom it may concern. PATIENCE is a virtue but becomes catastrophic when exploited wrongly. COMMUNICATION is key to UNDERSTANDING and COMPANIONSHIP in human affairs.(NDDC currently lagging concerning this issue) In all civil struggles it is usually advised to CONFIRM,CONSULT,CONSOLIDATE then CONFRONT. We are all free to express our concerns at any time.... Nobody Holy Pass |
@Syneger,I commend u 4 ur encouragement but also have to remind u and us all the reason NDDC was established in d first place. As an interventionist agency charged with the sole mandate of improving the lives of Niger Deltans i.e protecting her environment, developing human capacity and infrastructure and maintaining peace in the region. Has NDDC achieved these in comparison to allocations received over the years since its establishment? Ur guess is as good as mine. While the current management proposes to improve on the way NDDC operates, it is our collective duty to draw their attention to issues that need their response. This is not to bring them down but to raise their sense of accountability. Oh YES NDDC is accountable to prospective scholars and current scholars. The Management are called to serve and govern with accountability. Finally, we can't continue doing same thing and expecting a different result. WE MUST BE REASONABLE AND ACCOUNTABLE. |
Donmatlock:Yes. Things must change and NDDC should be more accountable. They make the rules and break them. I jst hope this house can be united. Chatting here without progressive actions makes no meaning. |
