The problem with this country is more fundamental than it appears. The citizens don't speak with one voice so the so called democracy is dead on arrival. Take for instance this Sowore issue, we're now divided into four major factions.

1. The ones who still support Buhari despite all his excesses
2. The ones who don't support him but are still filled with ire how their 'kinsman' Jonathan was booted out of office. Even though at the time, he was performing awfully which left Nigerians with no choice.
3. The ones who initially supported Buhari due to the excesses of Jonathan but later realized the former is even worse. These are the few open minded ones with no blind loyalty to any particular individual but driven by sheer desire for the Country's prosperity.
4. The indifferent ones who are probably doing well financially and don't really care about the political happenings in the country.

Since the citizens aren't speaking with one voice, the ruling aristocrats can afford to be reckless cos they will always have citizens in these four factions who'll fight their own fellows to ensure the tyranny continues.

And it's in this mess Sowore finds himself. He evidently means well but he's fighting a cause only him can't achieve alone and needs the support of the majority. Unfortunately there is no sane and favorable majority. They all fiddle while Rome burns.

Come to think of it, the entire legislative arm is complicit. PDP stayed in power too long they don't know how to play opposition politics. They need lessons from the US democrats.

I would have expected that every senator in the opposition be the ones to lead a protest to the DSS office where Sowore is held. The Occupy Nigeria protest during Jonathan's era held water simply because the opposition was a part of it.

People didn't vote against PDP - they voted in the united hatred for GEJ. Since 2015, those in the PDP who betrayed him to canvass and rig for Buhari have now come out to confess so. It had nothing to do with PDP- it had everything to do with voting against GEJ, a seeming political neophyte who they think has been too lucky in politics and fate didn't have to make him wait in line to ascend any political throne.

People still want to protest but they are scared. Buhari has threatened and arrested the most visibly opinionated opinion moulders who would have led the people to protest. Wole Soyinka is scared, Omojuwa now tweets about football and music, Kayode Ogundamosi now plays a blind eye, Dr. Joe Abah now tweets about being a "Baby Boy" and "Sco Pa Tu Manaa". These were some of the most vicious critics of GEJ and the most visible socio-political influencers on Twitter, which is the melting pot of opinions on Nigeria's social media space.
People still want to protest but they know they'd end up in graves or maimed if they dare.

Screw Sowore! His Sahara Reporters was used as a weapon and medium to shoot darts of hate and propaganda serum into the Nigerian polity during GEJ's era. On the eve of the 2015 Presidential Election, I created a thread with a now-inactive moniker of mine and I can recall the names of the Nairalanders who slept and mocked on that thread for days on end. I can remember the monikers (including Rilwayne001) who kept posting every conceivable lie and propaganda against GEJ, and always made front page, the obvious lies regardless.

I can remember how those in the APC cheered Sowore on and how Sahara Reporters was a mainstay on the Nairaland front page with all the lies. I can remember how threads of Twitter screenshots by Kayode Ogundamosi and Japheth Omojuwa made the rounds on Nairaland and they were always pushed to the front page. I can remember how Mynd4-4 was used to hound and ban those who were against Buhari leading up to the 2015 elections. I have screenshots saved.

Screw Sowore! Screw anybody who has a turnaround and doesn't continue feeding the Frankenstein Monster they supported and pushed into Aso Rock.
