This means that another phone will take the call that is supposed to come to a particular phone while that particular phone intended to receive the call will be idle. In other words, call forwarding takes an incoming call to only one phone, either to phone A or to phone B. Call forwarding cannot enable two or more phones to receive same call. Forwarding has the categories of "when busy", "always forwarding", "when unanswered", and "when unreachable". Every phone, even "torchlight phones", has the call forwarding feature. Even landphones or intercoms have call forwarding feature.

Call taping means every call you make, whether it is an outgoing call or an incoming call, will be active on your phone and on another phone at the same time. Tapping is for both outgoing calls and incoming calls. No phone has ever been launched with call tapping feature. Tapping is made possible by third-party tools that are not factory-fitted on the phone. With tapping, two or more phones can simultaneously listen to your income calls and your outgoing calls. But forwarding is to only one phone and for incoming calls alone.

Your phone gives a signal when call forwarding is activated. But your phone cannot give you a signal when your calls are tapped. Call tapping can also work for WhatsApp and Facebook calls but call forwarding is only for normal voice calls.
