how tall is Gustaf at the withers?
I almost forgot your question lol, I got a tape yesterday and took the measurement this evening.

Gustaf is 2.1ft by width, I also tried measuring the length but Gustaf wouldn't keep calm, he nearly damaged the tape so i left him for good cheesy

I have no idea how measurements(length) are taken in dogs, maybe someone should give me a clue!

I wouldn't have taken this likely if I were the one, I'd spend more than 40k just to bring justice to this

Today I noticed a change in Murphy's movement, he often leaps his left front leg, I checked it out only to discover this "wet paw" what Murphy has been battling for months now... I really don't know if this is a parasitic or bacterial wound but it occurs once every 2months as I've observed..

His right hind leg is also affected, thanks goodness I noticed it too so treatment was commenced at once.
I washed the wounds with hydrogen, applied methylated spirit and violent paint to it.

Hopefully the wounds will dry up and he'll be fine again.

Extremely good...Alerts very well. He's also gone through some trainings (obedience + security), so he's doing a good job. His level of aggression when I'm not around could sometimes be worrisome though.
Wow, I think that's nice to hear, so do you own another dog too or just this one?

In again!!
My role model in pet section is Vincentjk before others sha.
I've been following his thread which he lifted for his Boerboel and German Shepherd dogs and I can say he has done much for his dogs from feeding them well to giving them proper training... Ima big fan of Gustaf sha lolz.

Yeah! I'm gonna follow most of Mr Vincent's steps in caring for dogs though l know very well that I can do very much better than Mr Vincent did for his dogs... *sweet*

Unlike Mr Vincent, I don't wanna have two dogs like that, I can just start with one to make things sweet.
I'd always walk the dog and give it proper trainings (Thank God there's a mini STADIUM in my area) we can just go into the stadium and perform quite a number of exercises and one thing is that I'd love to teach the dog how to fly (not like spiderman ooo lolz) and how to catch things strategically (hope you understand the strategy I talk about??).

In a bit followers, everything is gonna boom!
Watch out!!!
Lemme get a dog first, you're gonna enjoy my diary. Don't forget, I got a good Camera
Lolz you sound serious but kinda funny, as in very funny sef

It's my pleasure hearing this from you at least it means I'm doing a good job, but these things aren't as easy as they seem sometimes bro

Awwww..sorry for the late response. Been busy this past few days to check in here. I got him from a friend in Lagos, not from any known kennel o. He has also grown a lot taller in the past months plus filling out better.
OK, he looks just nice, is he a good guard dog?

Actually, the egg is usually broken into the food from that start, before it is put on fire. So it cooks with the food ( the way abokis cook their indomie). But nonetheless, I learnt something new from you. You seem to be vast with canine knowledge, I have observed some of your posts. Please don't forget to always teach we newbies something new /educate us, whenever you can.
My question sir.....some dog owners usually stir their puppy's food with raw egg almost every meal, for rapid growth.... Could this be considered dangerous too? If yes, what are the best alternatives to this?
Jungpablo, con learn o
No be only you o lol

I've learnt a lot from him also

Not everyone have the luxury of time to fee their canines twice a day ( as many do morning and night), and I also get your point about it assimilating.... More of chemistry at work......increased surface area blah blah blah, but for grown up dogs, they can do fine with feeding once per day. But sha, those that do it usually make the food very rich. It could have egg broken into it,boosts of liver, fish and meat, as added "Jara", besides the main course.
My mentor who birthed and nurtured my love for canines, used to feed his dogs once a day ( at night when he returned from the days hustle and bustle), and then picks a particular day of the week that he skips their meal, for their digestive tract to stay clear. The dogs usually do fine and if offered food that day, it just might waste ( except for his Boerboel that has a large appetite and doesnt know when to stop).
Also they occasionally eat grass. My mentor said they do it to clear their system. They know the particular leaf to eat, so you cutting it and bringing it to them could be considered a waste of time
Lolz reading the last sentence made me laff so much lmao, I can relate to this ... Gustaf eats grass almost every Sunday and I wonder why

I used to think it's a kinda source of vitamin

Long time no see bro, great to know "our" canines are basking in good health grin
May I know when you fee them: morning, afternoon or night?
Is true that feeding dogs at night makes them lazy to guard their master's territory?
Lolz, I feed them just once a day, that has been my method, I reduce the feeding from 2x a day once they are grown.

Well, I don't think that's true o... If you don't feed your dog at night/evening then when should the feeding be done nah?

Once a day? Pls don't starve my Gustaf o... grin
Try to divide the ration into 2 (morning and evening). That way it assimilate better into their systems.
Lolz, I don't think he's starving as they've gotten used to my feeding schedule, how do you do your own feeding ?
PetsRe: Experienced Dog Owners Only by vincentjk(m): 2:38pm On Sep 17, 2018
Giving a dog that has no guard instinct in it dry gin or hot drinks will neither make them guard your homestead nor bark at strangers, these instincts are all in the blood but sometimes training and older age helps.
My Gustaf is 1yr+ now, I'd expected to get a gsd with good guard instinct but Gustaf is yet to show me these things, he barks when someone knocks at the gate and also barks at night too but that's not just what i want, I need a temperamental gsd that would bark and ready to attack any stranger anytime of the day. My other dog (boerboel) wouldn't bark until last Xmas when he clocked 2yrs old, everything changed. So maybe we should exercise more patience before drawing with our conclusions.

Lols, how?

once a day?? Why huh
When they were pups it used to be 3x daily but not anymore, they barely feel hungry because i give them enough everyday but just once
PetsRe: Murphy the Boerboel and Gustaf the German shepherd by vincentjk(op):
It rained heavily today, so now everywhere is dried up... Maybe we can have fun, practice some obedience basic commands and then take few pictures as well wink

Gustaf is so much taller than Murphy now, wow shocked I sure knew it'll happen but I think the gap is much.
