Well all dogs are good bro but as a first time owner maybe you should start with a toy breed as they are easier to maintain ( feeding & maintainance).

But if you wish to get a medium-large breed then it's fine long as you'll be able to care for it

The moment you get a dog you take everything responsibility of that dog.

Since Murphy is down with the leg wound so I don't let him out so he don't mess the treated leg Gustaf has been alone and kinda feeling lonely heeyah

Yes Murphy and Gustaf are not just pets but also guards their territory esp Murphy, Gustaf's defensive drive is yet to fully kick in then he will become territory strong just like Murphy is

It took Murphy quite a long time to fully differentiate between strangers and his family members.. But as he clocked 2years he fully became confident in guarding his homestead

People say there are giant dogs in our compound and that's because they'd rush to the gate and bark terribly whenever someone knocks

The pic below is Murphy at 1year 5months of age during an attack training session, i actually brought in a friend so he helped me in the training by pretending to be a burglar and Murphy was trying to attack him

I understand your point bro, breeding any of them is not bad rather i know it'll earn me some extra cash.. I never said I'd decline any female dog coming to me for breeding but just that putting my dogs up for breeding is something i wouldn't do

I've seen several videos of taping on You-tube & the procedure always looks so easy, but come to think of it the pups used in those foreign videos always seem to be extra calm because they're already used to it and the materials used are not ones you could just buy off the shelf of most Nigerian supermarkets, if you know what I mean.

So my question is how do get your pup to stay calm during the procedure...how do you make your pup not to tamper with the taped ears thereafter...and what are the readily available materials one can use as substitutes if one cannot find exactly same materials used in such foreign videos?

You see why i said taping is not an easy job, when i said it's a difficult thing to do i meant that getting the right materials, patience, time, willingness to do the job are the things that makes it not to be easy

Well i think one can find some of the taping materials in a good pet store maybe in Lagos or PH

Cropping of ears in dobbies is not as easy as cropping in pits and cane corsos because dobermans have taller ears

I've never done it before but i know i will be able to do the ears cropping, what makes the ears stand isn't just the cropping but "taping" as well

If you can be able to properly crop the ears and find a good way to do the taping then it's fine

But taping is a very hard job and costs as much

Sir Murphy does not have a collar why? I basically think you should get a neck collar that befits him just like Gustav has one already.

I currently have 3 big collars at home and it's just For the boys. Murphy isn't wearing a collar because i felt he's more comfortable without any since we're home, but the next picture I'll upload I'll make sure he wears his collar

Well for the stud sha i never planned using them for breeding or stud service, I'm a dog owner/lover and not a breeder

Aww...that looks painful. So he's basically hopping along on 3 feet....
Simba at one point had been holding his right back foot when he'd be walking. He walk a few feet and then hop (holding his right back foot in the air).
I used to wonder why he was doing that...but he suddenly stopped at a point.
However, he did break his leg when he was about at about 5 months old. My sister forgot that he was NOT a stuffed animal to play with...but a real live breathing "life". It was so cute though. He had a little custom-made cast on his leg that he wore for about 6 weeks......it was so cute.
Anyhow, as long as Murphy's paw is not broken (which the vet I'm sure ruled out).....then I'm assuming he'll be alright with time.
You said Gustav is getting taller than Murphy? Well that makes sense....cause I've seen some tall Shepherds...
His coat is looking nice though.
It's just tough cause it's not like a dog can speak a human language to tell you how it really feels.

We often experience some of these health challenges in our pet's but our love for them wouldn't let us overlook the pain they feel

Thanks for the compliment on Gustaf, I'm happy he's improving but it didn't happen by magic though, the cod liver and diet is already working.

Murphy's condition is already improving as he's able to walk this morning so i hope by Sunday he'll be fine again

I woke up to find Murphy limping, he has wound on the front right paw. This hurts Murphy so much that he wouldn't let that leg touch the ground, I'm really sad by seeing this

Someone told me its called "sweatypaws" but it has never happened to my dogs so i know nothing about it

The vet administered treatment so we hope the condition improves with time

I think gustaf's coat is finally getting back to normal maybe the cod liver is finally doing what it does best I'm just happy

Early morning and the boys are just excited maybe because i got them some goodies yesterday evening lol

Gustaf's height keeps increasing everyday, he's now very taller than his elder bro (Murphy)

However, what I was trying to say is that puppies have a particular substance in them that helps their system digest milk sugar so they usually have no problem with milk, but as they grow older, they gradually lose most of that substance, hence it becomes increasingly more difficult for older dogs to tolerate milk.

There are other products available... You can check your local pet/vet stores in your locality
