September 2017. If I had a cash flow of 20m, I wouldn't bother but that's not the case, hence the reason for my question. Osemigho: Which semester are you going for?
Is your account active before the deposit? A deposit of 1m in an active account of 20m is nothing.
All the best. |

Oga mi sir, no go tire oooo! keep mailing them abeg, try to mail some of them more than once - I got response from some profs after the third time of mailing them, it's not a very easy process but you gotta be tenacious bro, "turn a blind eye" to any rejection you might face along the the line because some of them will eventually respond with " sorry...I'm not taking graduate student at the moment bla bla" don't let that discourage you, keep firing, keep redrafting your mail content, focus on profs with your research interest and always remember the "law of probability" "The more of a thing you try, the higher the chances that one of them would work out" michaelbelgium: goodmorning friends....pls western university applicants....how were you able to apply??....becos their website does not open on laptop except on mobile device. I have written to 3 professors now at university of ottawa requesting them to be my supervisor...yet no response....my mail to them addressed my academic abilities, research work, the professor's current research interest, and willingness to learn from him/her..i also attched my CV,Certificate, project abstract.....i don tire for this kind package |

This is getting more serious than i anticipated #IhateCBN Folaroyal: My opinion.... moneyGram would have been your ideal option but all of them engine yaff knock recently... we are in serious problem in this country but not many know this. Now you can either do a bid through your bank; it might take weeks unfortunately or source USD locally, lodge into a domiciliary account and send. Another option is to find a "reliable' local money transfer agents up in canada; you pay naira into their account here and they make your payments over there... note, option 3 should be done with people you know of have some confidence in.... risky!

Nope. My supervisor advised I defer it to May, 2017 considering the VISA processing time (15 Weeks), May so that I can have more time to settle in PG, BC before the large cohort of student resume in Sept, 2017. However, I would be applying as soon as my new offer letter is out. Thanks for asking. Mikymiko: Vinci, have u submit your study permit application? |

I think this great, but please ensure to keep it as concise as possible especially when it's your first mail to them, those guys don't have so much time, kip in mind that hundreds of other graduate students are probably sending them similar mails, so you gotta stand out!. Riddeek: The thing is that is not the only thing you are going to be writing, that is in fact the easiest. Even after a supervisor picks you, when applying formally you will still need to upload your research intent and alao why you want to pursue graduate studies over there. As for cajoling supervisors, there is no specific format because you have to relate to them as per their research work. But ur first 2 statements matter a lot in deciding whether a prof will continue reading ur msg or just "mark as spam"... Yeah some actually do that.
You can start ur first paragraph like. Dear Dr. Wang (use appropriate titles, don't use Mr. cuz all faculty members have a title) My name is Obasanjo Jonathan Buhari, a graduate of the peace-keeping department in University of sambisa, Nigeria. I graduated in September 1684 with a GPA of 4.0/5.0 ( 80%) (this is important, state ur percentage, don't give ur supervisor work to do by analyzing ur result, if he can't see wat he is looking for straight up, chances are that he would just move to the next msg, afterall he receives hundreds of msgs from prospective students). |

As for GRE that depends on individual department requirements, it's important you contact your desired dept before sending in your application, as for me I didn't submit any test result, although it's been stated that taking GRE facilitate admission decision in some cases. In paying tuition deposit that would dependent on what is started in your admission letter. expertman: Sorry man was in rush to type. Yes if they request for tuition deposit and if GRE is needed |

I eventually wrote IELTS too and passed the required score but i didn't even bother submitting it since twas already waived - wish i could ask for a refund from the British Council . Judgepelumi: oh thats nice... I thought abt the waiver too but felt it will be a long thing and wasnt sure if i had the right docs to back it up so i dd toefl and pass d required score. Are you applying for fall/winter? I'd advise u mail d admission ppl to know whats up wif the delay. Mine is till feb bfr i knw my fate.....so long |

Initially I was going for MSc - IDIS before I eventually switched to MSc Biochemistry because couldn't get a supervisor on time in the former. I applied for a waiver filled some forms and it was granted and an evaluation form was sent to me, still expecting admission letter though their processing seem to take alot of time (5 Months now). Judgepelumi: really? What prog are you going for? And what did you study in ur undergrad? Or did u apply for a waiver? Just wondering aw urs got waived |
