Hi guys,
Please tell me. Can someone who went for biometrics at lagos submit passport to Abuja when PPR lands?
Is there any requirement? Can I fulfill that condition now before sending the passport?
Surely, our expectations will come to pass. Amen |

Hi Everyone,
I am here to share my testimonial and also drop the timeline of my SOWP application which I already shared on the Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) thread but thought it wise to also come back here to share it as well since it all began here. It hasn’t been an easy road but God finally completed His work and to Him I return all the glory. This was my second SOWP visa application as I had put in my first application together with my wife’s first study permit application early 2021 and both applications got refused. We had initially retained the services of a very reputable IRCC registered consultant in Canada and spent so much for this service, so getting a refusal on both applications had taken us off balance. In that confusion and desperation for a quick solution, I had gotten online and discovered this Study Permit thread on Nairaland which I thoroughly read through for weeks and kept coming across a particular name with people singing his praises and how he helped transform their cases and refusals to approvals through his detailed touch “Frankrobb”, I took a leap of faith and reached out to him and I must confess, that was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. After consulting with him, we agreed my wife applied alone for her second study permit application and when she gets the visa and arrives Canada, I apply for my SOWP to join her which we did and here we are, all visas finally approved to the praises, glory and thanks to God almighty. I want to also use this medium to appreciate Mr Frank for his hard work and also being a blessing to my family’s application success, your cup will never run dry, men will favour you and come to your aid before you ask. Amen.
My timeline:
Application submitted on 9th May, 2022.
Biometric was from previous application and was updated on 11th May, 2022.
Did upfront medicals on 5th May, 2022 that was submitted with my application documents.
Medicals didn’t update until July 15th when I decided to disturb IRCC Nairobi and Abuja in July through emails and webforms.
PPR on yesterday, 29th August, 2022.
Documents submitted:
The basic IRCC forms from their website, My SOP, My bank statement, Bank reference letter, Employment Appointment letters, My Bachelors and Masters Degree Certificates, Marriage certificate, Newspaper publication for wife’s change of name, Sworn Affidavit of wife’s name change, Trad and White wedding Pictures, family pictures with parents and siblings, COVID vaccination card, National ID Card, Upfront Medical Sheet, Old and new International Passport Biodata pages, Police Certificates (Nigeria and UK), NYSC Certificate, Passport Photo, WES Assessment, SSCE Certificate, Landed property documents, Car documents, Professional Certifications, Leave letter, Work ID card, Payslips for 6months, CV, Work Promotion letter, Birth certificate, past visa pages and stamps on my passport, wife’s study visa, wife’s study permit, wife’s admission letter, wife’s school ID card, wife’s enrollment letter, wife’s letters of Authorization and Invitation, wife’s passport bio data page, wife’s social insurance number(SIN) document, wife’s full tuition payment receipt.
I wish everyone here God’s favour and good luck and I do hope that this post encourages and gives fresh hope to someone on this journey because with God all things are possible. Thanks all. Blessings |

Thank you Gigdraft. We keep pushing. We keep giving thanks. Gigdraft: Hi Virocrix,
The email you received is quite generic with no specific detail in respect with your current stage of application. Considering IRCC's modus operandi, I find it difficult to depict the relevance of expedition in this context, as you weren't given such an option.

Hi Sanice, Application for Teaching Assistantship at UOttawa is handled separately after admissions. They would usually place the information/notification on the Uozone portal. The application and selection for fall 2022has been concluded. You should prepare for next semester. Ensure you apply on time with a well crafted academic CV. Talk to your supervisor about it on time. It's quite competitive but you will get it. More blessings. SaniceSanice123: Good afternoon. Please, how did you apply? What processes was involved cos I also got admitted to the school and looking for how to get TA |

Wow, congratulations. Glory to God Toceen2022: Hi guys, sorry this is actually coming late. The unimaginable stress at MMIA and trying hard to find my feet here makes it difficult for me to come online and drop my landing gist on time.
LANDING GIST LAGOS - FRANKFURT - VANCOUVER - VICTORIA Airline - Lufthansa / Air Canada Date - August 18th/19th 2022. Time - 11pm.
I never expected the rigorous stress I went through at MMIA. Got to the airport early at 6:45pm for 11pm flight, and went straight to weigh my luggage. I knew beforehand that I have 31 and 33, and 7 for carry-on bag, which I believe I will upgrade to 32, as per Lufthansa said it's possible. But their scale showed 32, 35 & 8kg. That is equally fine, I had no problem upgrading. But the lady who attended to me was just too crazy and started saying rubbish... That my only option is to look for extra bag and make it 3 bags, not exceeding 23kg each and I'll pay for one extra luggage. I never knew another wahala is underway. I bought a bag reshuffle and I got 23, 25, and 18. Luckily another staff told me to make it 32kg (pay for upgrade), 23kg (normal weight) and 12kg (I never knew passangers are entitled to 2 free carry on bags 8kg and 15kg (this can also be checked in). So I later paid to upgrade for the 32kg.
Now, this is where the stress began. Going through documents verification, my QR/Barcode on vaccination card only showed the 2nd Jab and date, the 1st was blank, because of that I was told I won't be allowed to board. (I've been fully vaccinated since Sept last year, and I do checked online myself even few weeks ago I checked, everything was showing perfectly well). I was told to call the number on the card if they can quickly rectify it, or go to the health service kiosk in the airport if anything can be done. That was how the trouble started o. Nobody could helped out, I was there calling the primary health care number on my card, moving from one place to another for over 2-3 hours. Nothing was done. Stressed and exhausted, I gave up, went back to the Lufthansa stand believing I'll have to book for another day, I asked for refund even if it's 70% (at least it's not that I didn't show up at the airport, so I should be entitled for a refund). It was at this point my brother in Ontario sent a screenshot on NPHCD site showing I'm fully vaccinated. I quickly scanned my barcode, still same issue, but on their site, using the personal identification number, it's showing the my full vaccination details. At this point, I reassured myself that Nigeria is truly a failed country. How could NPHCD site show different information on a single identification number. With the stress I went through, I cursed the country. Up till this moment if I scanned the barcode, it only show 1 jab, but if check on the site with the identification number, it shows the 2 jab. I was literally the last person on board. But luckily my window seat was still reserved for me.
I couldn't sleep much from Lagos to Frankfurt because of serious headache. In fact, I didn't enjoy the flight at all because of the stress. But after taking water and snack, I felt better and relaxed. We got to Germany - Frankfurt in the morning, around 6:30 am and from that point till my final destination, no single stress for me. The airport is massive, in fact, na train I take to my next Gate Porte (B-22). Went through security check and seated at the Gate Porte with other passengers going to Vancouver. Connected to the free Wi-Fi and made series of video calls. Our flight was delayed for about 2 hours.
Frankfurt to Vancouver was 10+ hours, so I slept, listened to music, watched a movie (Fatherhood) and before I know it, we are ready to land in Vancouver. I went to the self declaration machine, scanned my passport, all information appeared and printed out a receipt. I actually knew my bags would be sent to my final destination but a security officer said it would be in Vancouver. I waited for almost an hour and went to Lufthansa kiosk, the lady checked my details and said it's already sent to Victoria Airport. I went to immigration, spent about 15 minutes and my study permit was out (they only asked for my passport and LOI).
I missed my flight from Vancouver - Victoria. So, I went to the Air Canada kiosk and the lady issued a new boarding pass immediately without kobo. The flight was a short one, around 25 min, so before we knew it we are already in Victoria. When to pick my bags and everything was intact. CBSA didn't check anything, so everything I carried got to my final destination. Went out of the airport, took a yellow taxi to my airbnb accommodation. I was charged $65. If you know anyone that can pick you up at the airport, it'll be nice and save you some money.
Presently, I've got my SIN, Sim card, School ID and Bus Pass (till April 2023), opened bank account, got a permanent accommodation, booked appointment for BCID (British Columbia Identity Card) and preparing for my knowledge test so as to get my driver's licence asap.
Sincerely, if not for the wahala I went through at MMIA, it would have been a 100% stress-free journey. I couldn't even say goodbye to my people, couldn't snap a single shot with my wife and daughter. That thing still dey vex me till this moment.
Things are truly working here, pedestrian owns the road, not drivers. They must wait for you to walk through. Beautiful locations. Deers, squirrels and animals moving around and crossing the road, they no fear say someone go hunt them down You go see car open mouth, Tesla na like Toyota, you go see one nearly every corner. Many electric cars and products I've never seen or hear before. Infact, it's really good to experience living in a working system.
I wish everyone hoping and waiting a successful outcome. And to those that'll be flying soon, safe travel. Anyone coming to Victoria can reach out and I'll see how I can be of help/assistance. Thank you |

Wow. Congratulations. Glory to God. I'm the next oo. God will see us all through vividlooks: God is ever faithful and shows up when we least expect it... I have come back to fulfill my promise of dropping my timeline. I hope it encourages someone
So, I found this thread (part 21)when it was on page 45 or so after I had submitted my application and was wondering what next ... Hmmm, I remember one of the PPR testimonies I first read was of an approval that was received within 11 days and when I reviewed the docs submitted, I felt I had really messed up my application. Then I read of others that had applied since Sept the previous year. Reading more testimonies and docs submitted, Aaah! I told hubby I think we should have done this and that ... Well, hubby isn't one to feel daunted by what others have done. Then I got encouraged by those that went DIY like me and received their PPR. That's how I consoled myself ooo.
One other thing I noticed that actually made me feel terrible was the fact that I was going for a prog not really related to my work experience(considering my degree was far from what I had experience in). But when I remembered how much effort hubby and I put into my SOP, I was confident only a wicked officer will not see the larger picture I had painted. hehehe
Well, My cohort was initially for Winter 2022(gained admission last year) but I had to defer till May(which I couldn't make either). Then I was told Sept cohort was full, so Jan 2023 was the next available academic year(reluctantly accepted..Not like I had a choice per se). I sent via web form, my updated LOA and updated account activity reports(for all accounts originally submitted) and my sibling's data page which I also left out initially.
When my application was 5months I started sending emails to IRCC offices ANYWHERE. lol Well, thank God I did, Cos Beijing responded and confirmed my email had been rerouted to the appropriate office(at this time web forms I had previously sent had not been acknowledged). I also reached out to MPs. Those that responded asked the same question, where was I residing in Canada? On July 7th I requested my notes which hasn't even arrived . Those ones too said there are several requests, Tor!
Finally, on 29th July I received a response to the email the Beijing office had rerouted stating the usual covid 19 bla bla bla. but at least they confirmed it was at Nairobi.
I gave them 2 days then sent a series of emails again and webforms(this time I didn't change the content of my emails).
They responded on August 18th "We have verified the information you provided and can confirm that the agent who responded to you on July 29th, 2022, took the appropriate actions to follow up on your request". Well, that was refreshing enough. So, I decided to take a chill pill. After all, I was for Winter 2023 now
Anyway, I have learned patience through this journey and I can say for sure that it's the grace of God that speaks for us...Not necessarily all the grammar we note down in our SOP or docs we submit (Afterall someone used POF of a non-relative and got approved). Did I at some point feel downcast? of course! But one thing I was certain of was this, IRCC can't be the determinant of my happiness. I simply focused my attention on other important aspects of life(don't leave out prayers) whilst following up at intervals.
My timeline: First-time applicant/ Old portal

I think that's about all.
I will leave y'all with this; you can do it yourself, however, when in doubt seek help(rather than mess up your chances). this thread is a fountain of knowledge, let's keep sharing experiences and helping in whatever capacity we can.
I pray the kind of joy that filled my heart yesterday be experienced by each of you still in the waiting room... Keep hope alive. God will show up for you in Jesus' name.AMEN! |
