Education / Re: The Use Of 'i Was Like Ok' By Nigerian Students by visasubagent: 12:45am On Oct 17, 2014

SIr OP.
With all humility, I don't quite understand why you started this thread sef!

You said and I quote "immediately,I felt the
"spirit of bad English' in what he said above". If your main reason was to question why most Nigerian students hardly speak correct english, then you sure have a big problem with presentation which equally portray your poor english language skills.

If you don't mind sir, I will gladly support my arguments with a few salient points.

1. There is NOTHING like GOOD or BAD English like you said in the parted I quoted earlier.
Its either its CORRECT or INCORRECT English.

2. English has NO spirit hence, bad english spirit can not be in a statment. 'also quoting from your statement'. Am sure u just wanted to say u weren't too sure if that clause was ok for the intended purpose in which it was used.

3. Seeing all the flaws in your write up and studying various poorly placed patterns in your writing skills, I SAY WITH ALL HUMILITY...you DO NOT have the intellectual capacity to dabble into a topic such as this which tries to invalidate the proficiency of somone's use of a language such as the western english.

I rest my case.
but knowing that there is not one who is perfect...I STAND TO BE "WISELY" CORRECTED.

You are very ignorant of what tyou are saying.
=
Who said English can't be bad?
Respecting the use of 'spirit of english' it is apt there. Your interpretation of it as a clanger when you said that English has no spirit was gross. So OP was right with that usage. It's analogous to saying ' in the spirit of oneness'. Do you now say that oneness has no spirit?
=
I could deduce that you have got just a smattering of the language hence should not throw stones since you live in a glass house.
Cheers.

...just when I thought women are the only being that take 'seeking attention' to the extreme, I never knew some sissy men still engage in such silly act.

C'mon, he undid all his great works within three days and here is Linda, back on her blog, strong and kicking.

I'm not a fan of Linda, but then Mr. Aydee or whatever he calls himself should have moved on and considered his help a service to humanity and even now that he's got all the attention in the world(Nigeria), what exactly is he doing with it?! Abi den dey eat attebtion ni?

Ladies! When you see this kind of man, run for your life! Because, he'll be more than ready to pour Acid on you if you are no longer iinterested in an R/ship with him!

Guy you doont know what u are saying. Guess you have never helped people. ingratitude is a vice

The guy actually work hard to make her blog wat it is today but after she test success, she started ignoring him claiming not to have notice is messages. He got pissed off and brought the whole blog thing down to get her attention back.

Leave women. Its possible that she deliberately ignored the guy.

adeoladrg: Op you're very wrong!

I was a unilag diploma student some years back. Diploma cutoff for pharmacy was 116. I scored 120. A girl who scored 95 got her admission letter before me. I was shocked! I later learnt the VC had his own list, registrar had her own, even the Oba of Lagos had his own, so it depends on who you know.. People who didn't even know these people found some other ways to 'leg' their ways through..

My brother, except you want to deceive urself, it's a normal Nigerian syndrome.

@OmolodMilkman93 Thanks bro.. My diary is down. I'll open a new one soon.
The OP was not wrong. You didn't merit the first merit list. There are general cut offs and even satan will be given admission if he merits it, afterwhich there will be state cut offs given the Educationally less developed states.
As per Vc list, Oba's list etc, it's everywhere. In fact in UNN, some lecturers are eligible to get the name of a candidate usually one related to them and they must have met certain requirements too, this is not covert but obvious. In fact, it's even advertised on the UNN website every year and those lecturers are required to pay a sum to the school. Everything is fair. And I tell you that despite this UNN is the fairest school I have ever seen in terms of admission. Just merit the cut off and only eartquake will stop you from gaining admission.

Romance / Re: Things Stopping Single Ladies From Meeting The Right Partner by visasubagent: 9:04am On Aug 21, 2014
craziebone:

trust me. Playing hard to get doesnt make a man value you more. Didnt you play hard to get with the last guy who cheated on you?

One thing ladies have to know which they seem to be oblivious to is this: a man has already decided how he wants to relate with you way before he said the first hello to you. If he wants you only for sex, he had already decided that befor coming up to you. If he wants you for love and truely wants to have something deeper with you, he had already decided it way before steping up to you. Your playing hard to get plays absolutely no role in how he sees you, values you or want to relate with you.

His persistence even when you've been playing hard to get for so long COULD mean that he had a bet with his friends that he WILL bed this lady.

I completely disagree that a man has made up his mind about how to relate to a woman even before saying the first hello. This is because I might just want a fling with you but could be mesmerized by your personality or character in which case I would be considering walking down the isle

You sound so cool and level headed.
-
All I can say is that life generally is difficult, unpredictable and uncertain.
It involves risk which we msut take if we want to move ahead, just that we must ensure that those risks are calculated ones.
-
You can marry a seemingly angel who will show his true colours later, you can equally marry one that is genuine only for him to change later. It's all about risk taking.
-
You need to go to such places you think the kind of person you are looking for can be found.
If i desire to marry a nurse, wife, I might need tto visit such schools or hospitals, or attend events meant principally for such persons. The same goes for Lawyers.
-
Again, try see if your standard for men isn't unrealistic. What you watch in nollywood are vastly ethereal, utopian and unrealistic.
-

Wish you your heart desires.
Cheers!
