@Cultured. Thanks bro. For the electricals, the cost quoted is inclusive of labour which was 40k. As for the tiling cost, this was the cost of the frontal tiles which is the tiling work completed at the moment. @NL. The tiles were sourced and bought in Benin from a chap called Chibuzor in Cooke road. He is well known as he deals only on spanish tiles. The one used in my house is porcelain and went for 2900 per square metre. However, the main gate was boarded today in preparation for casting tomorrow. Enjoy some clips

Cement is now 1800 in Benin city. @ Sweetedge will post some pics of my progress soon. The rains in Benin has not been friendly at all. |
Well having read all the different comments back and forth, I would love to share a most recent experience with Air Nigeria. On the 18th May 2012, I was scheduled to fly with Air Nigeria on it's third flight outside Lagos to Gatwick after relaunching that route under the new brand. However, the whole drama started when I arrived at the check in desk at 8pm and the lady at the counter had to inform me like the others before me that the flight will be delayed till 3am against the scheduled departure time of 11.50pm. I naturally made a bit of noise here and there but at the end was forced to accept the situation as it were. During the wait, I got talking with one of the staff on duty that nite and was made to understand that 37 passengers were actually checked in for that flight. Shocking! It was even more shocking when the aircraft touched down at about 1am when I also discovered that the aircraft brought in only about 7 passengers from Gatwick. The plot of the drama of that nite began to unfold when at about 2.30pm, the Air Nigeria pretended as if there were ready for boarding formalities but later disappeared before we knew it. It took my mobilisation after waiting till about 4am to get the other passengers to march down to their office and only to be told that the issues the aircraft had in Gatwick that delayed it's arrival was been fixed by the engineers and that by 6am of same day the engineers will give their verdict on whether it can fly or not. At this point, I was already discouraged to fly the same aircraft just like some others who shared in my concern. As expected, we were told that the aircraft was not fit to fly . We all had to follow the lady on duty that day to begin the process for our refunds. Interestingly, as we were been given the refund form, we were also given a letter of sort encouraging us with a 50% discount whenever we decide to fly with the airline again. Consequently, I dashed to the virgin Atlantic office to see if I could still get a seat , luckily I did and made the trip same day after spending 12 hours at the airport. Let me emphasize here that the airline treated us so shabbily that as no provision was made for dinner or to constantly update us with information. This leaves me with 2 questions; 1. Was it that the flight was genuinely cancelled because it had technical faults considering the fact that it made a 6 hrs journey back to Lagos or that; 2. The airline did not find it economically wise to carry only 37 passengers on an aircraft of about 200+ capacity. Anything I always say, is possible in Nigeria |
@favourme. Thanks bro. This POP job is costing me N2500/M.Giving you an estimate for a room will however be difficult because the cost for a room will depend on the size of your room. |
@NL1960. Bro, these your quotes are a bit on the high side. But if you need a more competitive quote from the guy that did mine, i will revert to you soon. However, the POP work has commenced on my building and these are some of the pics so far;
|
@NL1960 The 421k does not include the burglary proof but only for the powder coated aluminum windows and mosquito net. While my burglary windows cost 82k. |
@ Ladybfashion. The powder coated windows with the blue reflective gloss glass cost me 421k and they are 23 windows in all. @Oilsubsidy. Thanks for the kind words and i pray that the Almighty grant the muscle to bring your dreams to reality. |
Well i hope this other view of the house helps.
|
Just to also add this lovely crib that looks so much like mine also which i spotted while driving round the community. Love the stone tiles finishing

Good to be back on NL everyone! I can see that a lot has happened on the property section especially with Am Alone aka Oluwa4sure breasting home with his oluwa champion castle. So inspiring indeed. However, this is how i've gone so far myself. The ceiling (POP) work has commenced this week and will update as i progress.

@Benuromi & Favourme. Sorry for responding to you guys a bit late, been kind of busy recently. @Benuromi- Absolutely, my roofing sheets were sourced in Benin from a company called Agen Longspan roofing Industries located close to the University of Benin. @Favour me. The total bags of cement used is 51 bags of cement. |
i quite agree with teslim. This property is sure overpriced for what it is in its present state. Like he said, 8m is a good proposition for this property in its state. I'd advice you take this opinion in good faith and have a review with your client on the price tag. 20m definitely will not fly for this. |
@ Spyder. Great efforts you're putting into your crib bro. However, i'd want to find out if the sample of the China Steel door you displayed is exactly what you're planning to use for your house? If yes, then i'd advice you get for the 70mm instead of the 50mm i saw on the carton. For your entrance and exit points, the 70mm spec is the right one for both points as they are stronger than the 50mm. |
@ Sweetedge. First of all, i'd advice you commence work on your site while waiting for the approval if you wish as that for now is not really a challenge in Amagba as the town planning people have not started exploring Amagba for compliance. But if i may ask, for how long has your plan been taken for approval? Furthermore, as for the qty of blocks to use, that will depend purely on your house plan i.e how big or small the house is. For mine, about 3800 blocks was used to lintel level. Cheers. |
@Payless. Unfortunately No! He only assisted with the plan and that was all. I quite agree with you that he is competent as my house as it now is been dubbed by everyone around me. |
@Eseosa. So sorry for the late response to your request. Fortunately, the architect is a nairalander and his email add is segetony@gmail.com. Hope this helps. My apologies once again for the delay. |
@eseosa. Thanks for the kind words. I will send you an SMS on the architects contact soon. Cheers!!! |
