The army has reported that about seventy Boko Haram terrorists have been killed in several clashes with the Nigerian troops in the northeastern region of the country.
According to a report by Major General Lucky Irabor, the deputy theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, the army says 70 insurgents and about four officers have been killed in different encounters.
In the Military’s update on successes recorded in operation Lafiya dole, the army said on Sunday, January 17, the troops conducted a clearance operation at Shentimari general area and cleared Boko Haram enclaves and recovered 78 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Similarly, on Monday, January 18, at Chukun Gudu, troops encountered and destroyed terrorist’s camps along Jillam, Bula Butube general areas. During the exchange of fire, 10 terrorists were killed, 2 AK47 Rifles, 2 AK47 magazines, 2 solar panels and 2 GSM handsets were recovered, while 1 Isuzu vehicle was destroyed.

The statement further reveals that Wednesday, January 20, troops cleared terrorist camps/enclaves at Ngwalimiri and Gazama in Damboa Local Government Area. While conducting operations in Mufurundi village along Damboa-Bale road, the army intercepted 10 Boko Haram suspects from Bego, Mesemarri and Bale villages carrying bags containing food condiments, soaps, and other items. The suspects are reportedly undergoing interrogation.

Also, the troops had an encounter with terrorists during advance from Wajirok to Ajigin. During the encounter, 3 of the terrorists were killed.
The statement further reveals that: “In another development, one of our units located in old Marte repelled an attacked by BHT and in the process, killed 21 terrorists, while 3 soldiers were wounded during the encounter. One Anti Air Gun, 10 AK47 rifles,1 FN rifle,7 x 60mm MOR bombs, qty 342 rounds of 12.7mm, Qty 507 rounds of 7.62mm ammunitions, 1 Toyota Hilux, 1 Land Cruiser vehicle, 1 IED with charger were captured from the terrorists.

“In a related development, troops took custody of 3 suspected BHT who voluntarily surrendered themselves to Damboa Vigilante Group at Kaya village. During interrogation, they claimed to have been forced to join the BHT Group and also participated in the Group’s previous attacks at Askira and other locations. As about 1719hrs yesterday, 21 January 2016, ahead of Cashew plantation near Maiduguri, an unknown civilian tried to gain access into the village but was confronted by a civilian JTF. In the process of the ensuing interrogation, he stabbed a member of civilian JTF to death but was shot by another Civilian JTF.
“In continuation of the ongoing operation, troops advancing to clear Dure village, came under BHT ambush at Rugga Fulani but were cleared. During the encounter, 8 BHTs were killed, 2 AK47 rifles,2 locally made Dane Guns, 3 AK47 Magazined with 38 rounds of ammunition were recovered. Similarly, a unit of troops cleared BHT hideouts in Wala, Tirkopytir, and Durubajuwe villages. During the operation, troops recovered 1 rusty GPMG barrel, 1 grinding machine and 1 locally made Dane gun.

“Equally, troops conducted a fighting patrol in Afe, Kudiye, Souma, Dika, Mijigeta and Mida. During the operation, the team made contact with BHT at Kudiye, Mijigete and 20 BHT were killed, while 3 rifles, 41 motorcycles were destroyed, and 370 hostages rescued and brought to IDP camp at Dikwa. Also, around Huyum, Jeje and Diba villages. The terrorists sighting own troops, abandoned their families behind which include 5 women, 12 children. However, own troops killed 4 of the BHTs. The women are currently undergoing interrogation.”
The army report further informed that on Friday, January 22, 3 suicide bombers attempted to infiltrate into Maiduguri a kilometer ahead of Mafa roadblock. The troop of the theater shot one dead, while the other detonated and in the process killed the third suicide bomber.

In his communique, Major General Hassan Umaru commended the efforts of the troops and renewed call for the troops and the public to be more vigilant and security conscious at all times, particularly at check points, markets, worship centres, motor parks and schools.

He equally appreciated the support from the public in rendering useful information on the activities of the terrorists. The public would be kept informed of the situation as the need arises.

Suspected masterminds of the October 2015 Nyanya and Kuje bomb blast which left 20 people dead and several others seriously injured were arraigned before a Federal High Court today, Thursday, January 21 in Abuja.

A suspected member of a gang of ritual killers, Ganiyu Tajudeen (25), has been arrested by the operatives of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (FSARS), Osun State Command, after the killing and beheading of a four-year-old Bakare Teslim.
The killing was said to have occurred in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State recently.

The FSARS operatives have through the arrest curbed the activities of the gang which was said to have carried out series of murder of innocent residents of Osun State in recent times.

Saturday Tribune learnt that Tajudeen connived with other gang members whose names were given as Aremu Moshood (48), Agboola Abdulwasiu (31) and Ganiyu Abidoye (60) to lure the four-year-old Bakare Teslim away from his parents’ residence on the pretext of buying him groundnuts.

A police source told Saturday Tribune that the father of the victim, Mr Ismail Bakare of Agbelekale area of Iragbiji, disclosed to law enforcement agents that on getting home on the day of the incident, he was informed by an aged woman living in his neighbourhood that Tajudeen had come to take away his son to buy groundnut.

But to his surprise, when the little boy was nowhere to be seen afterwards, the response to his enquiries on the whereabouts of his son was negative, as he denied setting his eye on the boy.

The disappearance of the four-year-old led to the matter being reported at the office of the FSARS and through investigation, the suspect confessed to have taken the boy to an unknown destination with the sole aim of using him for money ritual.
Tajudeen also confessed that he and his partners in crime had already beheaded the young lad, adding that the boy’s head had been buried in a shallow grave, while the body was thrown somewhere and covered with leaves.

He thereafter took the FSARS operatives to the scene where the body was thrown while the head was exhumed few meters away from where the body was recovered.

In the suspect’s confession to the police, he stated that “I am a palm fruit cutter. The mother of the body came to my house to tell me that she would need my services to cut palm fruits, asking me to come the following day.

“But I went to her house at about 5.30p.m same day. I took the young boy with me, with the belief that no one noticed when he was going with me. I bought N20 worth of groundnut for him before taking him to my house at Iyana Olofa.”
The suspect initially claimed that he got the boy at the prompting of Moshood, who had earlier asked him to bring the urine, blood and hair of a young boy when he (Tajudeen) went to Moshood for ritual to make fortune and for protection.

The suspect added that he went to Abdulwasiu for the same ritual and he also asked him to bring a boy.

Tajudeen indicted his father, Ganiyu Abidoye in his statement, saying that he was the one also told him to kill a boy and bury his body so that his acts would not be exposed.He disclosed to the police that he took the deceased to Olokede bush where he cut his head with a knife and buried it, while he threw the body away.

Saturday Tribune gathered that Tajudeen had once been arrested in 2012 for stealing a child at Otapete area of Iragbiji.

He was said to have been beaten and macheted by indigenes of the town before he was taken to the police station, while the rescued boy was returned to his parents. The accused Tajudeen was eventually charged to court and spent seven months in Ilesa prison.

But Moshood denied Tajudeen’s claim, saying that he was not a herbalist and could not have asked Tajudeen to bring anything for ritual. Among the exhibits found in Moshood’s house were two horns covered with red cloth, white cloth, four knives, bones, black soap and charm.

Speaking on the items, the suspect said that he was using one of the horns for self-protection while charmed arm band was also for him because of his involvement in politics. He added that the knives belonged to his wives.

It was also learnt that one of the suspects. Abdulwasiu had a pending case of kidnap in court before his latest arrest.

Meanwhile, the four suspects have been dragged before an Osogbo magistrates’ court on a four-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, murder and unlawful and intentional killing of Teslim Bakare.

The suspects, whose pleas were not taken by Magistrate B.B Idowu Ajao, ordered that the suspects should be remanded in prison till next date of adjournment.

Argentinian police have reportedly arrested a man who is accused of fathering 8 children with his daughter over a period of 22 years.

Domingo Bullicio, 56, is reported to have turned his daughter, Antonia, into his personal sex slave as soon as she turned 15 after his wife had walked out on him with three of their other children.


Bullicio is reported to have fled after finding out that his daughter had finally mustered enough courage to speak to the authorities asking for help.

The news reports reveal that the police had finally detained him in a city near by called Loreto on an arrest warrant following a manhunt said to have lasted more than a month.


Antonia, who was found to be illiterate, told a local paper that she had been abused from an early age by her dad, and now receiving death threats since going public with her experience.


Antonia speaking on her experience said:

“From the moment my mum left home I became my father’s wife.
 He abused me from the age of nine.
 He would hit me and used to chase me round the house with a lump of wood when he saw me chatting to a neighbour or simply wanted to abuse me.
 He threatened me constantly and I always feared for my life. He told me he would kill me if I said anything.


“I’m scared for my life and the life of my children because today I’m receiving threats from my father’s siblings to withdraw my complaint against him.


“They’re not at all concerned about what’s happened.
 I want him to rot in jail. I want justice to be done.”


DNA tests are reportedly going on to determine ongoing to determine whether the children are actually Bullicio's.


He is reported to have registered the kids who are now being looked after by their mother, under his name and as his.
Antonia reportedly claims that she most of the times she was raped was in front of their kids, and were quizzed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Over 70 youths from Ogogoro community of Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC in a rather bizarre way.They buried a coffin with PDP colours as a sign of death knell to the party.

They defectors during a rally organised by the Obio-Akpor chapter of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State dug two separate graves in the presence of a former Chief of staff to the Rivers State Government, Chief Tony Okocha and APC deputy governorship candidate, Hon Asita O Asita,PM News reports.


The leaders of APC in Akpor, Hon. Chikordi Dike and Hon Chimenem Weli said by burying the coffin designed with PDP logos, PDP has died in the area.
The defectors were received by Asita who told them that they have made a wise decision to dump the PDP, which he described as a sinking ship.

A policeman allegedly murdered the young man pictured below on his way to make preparations to deposit his father's corpse in the mortuary earlier today.

The man was reportedly on his motorcycle, heading to the bank to withdraw money in order to make deposit at the hospital. A corps member, Mr Excellent Akevwighome has slumped and died on the spot while leading a choir ministration in his church, Christ Gospel Church, in Edjeketa community, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Vanguard reports that ,Akevwighome, aged 29 and a graduate of Accountancy from Anwai campus of the Delta State University, died during a vigil where he was said to be a choir master. He was said to have slumped and died almost immediately midway into the vigil.

An eye witness said when he fell, he was thought to be under the influence of Holy Spirit, but after waiting for about 20 minutes and he (Akevwighome) failed to get up, some of the choristers tried to help him up only to find out that he was already dead.

The Pastor of the church, Pastor Peter Akpovwera expressed shock at the incident, saying,
“The brother was a faithful worshiper but lost his life to the cold hands of death even in the church.”

His younger brother, Mr Godday Akevwighome said, the victim was serving in Anambra state at the time of his untimely death, and that, “he has been buried the following day.”

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has said any guest without valid identification cards will not be checked into hotels in the state as from January, 2016.

Tambuwal made the statement in Sokoto on Monday at the inauguration of a four-star hotel, called Hotel Taraka International.This new policy which mandates all guests in all hotels across the state to present valid ID cards before they are checked in will come into effect from January, 2016, he explained.The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Tourism, Alhaji Aminu Bello, urged “all hoteliers in the state to cooperate with government and other security agencies.

”The policy became imperative in view of the prevailing security situation across the state as nothing should be left to chance.

”All guests coming into the state and other residents across the state should bear with the new policy as it is aimed at further enhancing the security of lives and property,” Tambuwal said.

He urged the people of the state and other wealthy individuals to continue to invest in the tourism sector to boost the business environment in the state.The proprietor of the hotel, Mr. John Anya, said that the gesture was aimed at broadening the hospitality landscape in the state.
