Politics / Lagosians Are Enjoined To Go About Their Businesses Without Fear- Sanwo-Olu by Vixlot: 10:19pm On Aug 01
The Lagos State Government has watched closely today’s protest in some parts of the State and will like to put on record the peaceful conduct of Lagosians. This is the way it should be in our dear State, according to Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

We have also noticed the slowdown of business in some parts of the State, perhaps because of the fear that hooligans and architects of anarchy might force their evil design on us all and endanger our harmony. Thankfully, that did not happen. To a large extent, Lagosians have chosen to embrace peace and shun the path of destruction while expressing their views and constitutional right to protest.

The message of the protest – hunger in the land - has also been well noted. It is, however, important to reiterate the fact that the Federal Government is taking steps to reverse the situation. Besides opening the National Grains Reserve, the Federal Government has suspended import duties on food items – a measure that will, no doubt, ensure that the current food shortage is addressed and high prices are rolled back. We will work with all food distributors to ensure that our citizens enjoy the resultant price reductions.

On our part, as Mr. Governor has promised, the popular Sunday Markets will return with its 25% discount on all major food items. The Medical Outreach, which offered thousands of our people treatment free of any charge whatsoever, will also return. We are finalizing the logistics for its implementation. We will continue to ensure that all expectant women enjoy free delivery in our hospitals. The 25% slash in fares on all our transport facilities will continue. So will all the other measures we have put in place to relieve Lagosians of the burden of these times.

Considering all the Federal and State Governments have done, all lovers of peace will agree that it is time the protesters called off their action. Their voice has been heard – loud and clear.

It is also important to put on record the professional conduct of all our security agencies – the Lagos State Police Command, the Department of State Services, the Military, the Civil Defence, Neighbourhood Watch, Community leaders, Religious leaders, Resident Associations and others – who ensured that the peace we cherish was not compromised.

We will continue to engage all stakeholders to ensure that our State remains peaceful and a beacon of hope for all.

Lagosians are enjoined to go about their businesses without any fear. Security agents will continue to ensure that our State is safe and that businesses can operate without any harassment.

Please keep in mind that this flight was originally scheduled for 3:50 then 4:30 just to leave at 6:18pm. This flight was supposed to land in owerri by 5:30 so if they had kept to time, none of this would have happened

Travel / Air Peace Accused Of Abandoning Abuja-Owerri Passangers Without Food by Vixlot: 11:17pm On Apr 17
So
@flyairpeace
sold a ticket at 120k from Abuja to Owerri scheduled to leave Abuja at 4:30 and land at 5:30. Ended up delaying until 6:18 because "no pilot". Half way on air, we were told that they can't go anymore because Owerri airport closes at 6:40 so they turned back.
Arrived at Abuja again and took more than 20 minutes before passengers were addressed and let out and another 20+ minutes to have someone tell us what will happen next. They then promised us a bus to drive us to a hotel to sleep but it's past 9pm and the bus is nowhere to be found after leaving with a few people in the first round. We are all stranded, scattered around. I myself was coming from Kano but missed my connecting flight with Dana air because Azman delayed for 1 hour+ then I went ahead to book air peace because I needed to get home today but here I am, stranded after spending over 300k on domestic flights today. When will our government and laws start protecting us from all this rubbish. If air peace knew people could sue, they won't do this.

A not so close friend created a WhatsApp group last week for his wedding. I was even happy that at least I would attend a wedding to gbe body after along time.

After the preliminaries about aso ebi and all, he went on to say those of us on the group will be the aso ebi/groom’s men and we will contribute at least 200k each for the wedding. The part that burst my head was the deadline for the payments.

The wedding is in June, so all payments must be made on or before the end of May. I thought it was a joke until he started tagging me to confirm. I just quietly left the group and blocked him on all social media platforms, including WhatsApp

Culture / The Igbo People Have A Culture That Permits Same-se.x Marriage? by Vixlot: 5:58am On Mar 29
The Igbo people have a culture that permits same-se.x marriage.

This same-s.ex marriage is between two women.

In this kind of marriage, a widow who has past menopause goes ahead to marry a younger woman of reproductive age,

So that she could bear sons to continue the lineage of her late husband.

The older woman informs the umunna about her decision to marry a younger woman.

The umunna knowing that this is a great sacrifice,

Supports her and accompanies her to ask for the maidens hand in marriage.

She pays the bride price and automatically becomes the husband of the young maiden.

In most cases, such widows prefers to marry a woman whom has given birth to children outside wedlock( especially sons),

Because in Igbo land, only bride price validates father hood.

The aged widow, after marrying her wife is given a special honour and place amongst the men.

In some parts of Igbo land, such women are forbidden from having affairs; they must live the rest of their lives without feeling the warmth of a man.

It is also important to note that the marriage between these women are non-s.exual marriage.

Homos.exuality is an abom.ination in Igbo land.

The younger maiden goes about meeting men,

Whatever child she bears is considered the legitimate child of the widow's husband and he or she bears the late husband's name.

This culture has helped in preserving and ensuring the continuity of different lineage.

Politics / Good News For Nigerians As Prices Of Indomie, Sugar, Pasta, Others Drop by Vixlot: 5:41pm On Mar 11
BRANDED CONTENT: Good News for Nigerians as Prices of Indomie, Sugar, Pasta, Others drop

There seems to be some form of relief at the moment for Nigerians, especially those in the low to middle income bracket, who have for some months now been affected by the nationwide food price hike, driven by the sharp inflation and economic pressures across the nation.

https://twitter.com/MobilePunch/status/1767205190661193886
In recent months, Nigeria’s inflationary figures have surged astronomically, rising to an all-time high in two decades, to 29.90% in January 2024; with a corresponding 2.64% headline inflation, according to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Food inflation also rose by 3.21%, with core inflation hitting 2.24%, while urban and rural inflation climbed to 2.72% and 2.57 % respectively, the NBS data showed.

But according to latest market surveys carried out last week around popular markets in the country, there seems to be a reduction in the prices of some food items. Among them is noodles, especially the popular Indomie Instant Noodles.

For instance, a 40-pack carton of Indomie Regular Chicken 70g, which sold for N10,650 now sells for N8,900. Indomie standard pack 100g, which sold for N15,000 now go for N12,300 per carton. In the same vein, the 40-pack carton of Indomie Super Pack Chicken Flavor 120g which sold for N17,950 now sells for N14,700

Other food items whose prices have fallen in the markets surveyed include sugar, rice, beans, semo, spaghetti and macaroni. A 50kg BUA sugar now costs N84,000, a Dangote 50kg sugar goes for N88,000, Stallion Long grain rice which sold for N88,000 now sells for N86,000, while the price for short grain rice fell to N78,000 from N80,000. Fifteen pints of Honeybeans which sold for N78,000 now sells for N75,000, while 32 pints of brown beans now sells for N155,000 as against the previous N165,000.

Confirming this, a wholesale and retail dealer of noodles range of products at the popular Wuse Market, Mrs Debola Tairu, particularly noted that the prices of Indomie Noodles products have come down. "This is very good from Indomie, and I hope other products' will reduce their prices too", she said.
