But we also have a lot in the bracket of 9wks+ who haven't gotten their visas or a reasonable update up till now. Is that a case of not heeding to instructions or the Naija mindsethuh

If it takes them longer and Irish schools understand, then it is not a problem.

But when your programme coordinator tells you to defer and get to pay another 200k+ (€500) as deferal charge + other losses cos of visa delays....then that becomes a Big problem and most unfair!!!

Chibabe4Christ:
We dont need to cast all blame to Irish Embassy.. They know how their system works and has clearly stated that all application should be sent 8weeke of processing time, some could not adhere due to unforeseen circumstances.
Abeg atimes we need to heed to instructions, knowing well that they do not have Naija mentatlity.

Standard Medicover - €160 my badsmiley
180 was a mistake

ICaSNg:
In short the UK makes 165k to 500k on each visa application. They've earn alot over the years and also learnt alot. Ireland went from 800 apps in 2018 to over 3000 apps in 2019 with the same number of staff in Abuja.

Its very frustrating but the UK 2 years psw came at the right time. They have no choice than to sit up and step up their game.

Am however interested in your 180 euros for medicover. How come ? Standard is 150 euros

Lerrrrrrrrrry:
This accommodation thing is crazy ooo, I found few and they even gave me date for viewing before you know it , they’ll just text me back and tell me it has been taken .. just like that cry
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz:
Hmm....Question? How does UK handle over 100,000+ study visa applications from Nigeria alone during peak periods and still maintain Three Weeks Turnaround period?

It's not funny. Some here have received deferral notice from school programme coordinators to forego starting programme this September as lectures have already begun.

Possible Implications?
• another €500 deferral charge
• €160 insurance wasted (will have to be purchased again)
• €400 booking charges for residence possibly gone (admin charges will come in where refund is possible)
• possible 10% admin charges for fees paid during refund
• possible N46, 950 visa fees wasted
• wasted One Year (huge and impacts ones goals/progress)
• emotional trauma & pains
• etc..etc..etc...etc

Either this is deliberate or a case of gross incompetence. Either way, we bear the brunt and the losses/pains that comes with these frustrating delays and screwed up visa process!!!

Saying as it is...

phychem:
My advice for those that are yet to receive their visa is to be patient and optimistic. This is peak period for the Irish embassy in Abuja right now and they do not have many visa officers. Many applications has been moved to Dublin for processing especially those that sumitted late.

TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 9:43am On Sep 11, 2019
Yeah. ..saw it not long ago. Ireland have to really step up their game now esp in the area of study visa rqdments/processing times.

Tis Brexit eh..Don make UK dey think well now. ..first Tier 1 Visa and now....2yrs PSW grin

ICaSNg:
CAN SOMEBODY HALLELUJAH !!!!!!!

UK just announced their own 2 years work permit- PSW.

So if you are struggling with getting the required funds for Ireland, UK will be an excellent alternative.

There are some 2 years MBA & MSc programs - where 1st year is for academics, 2nd year for paid internship + dissertation then the 2 years graduate permit and you only need 30 days bank statement for the UK, they don't care where the money came from or who paid into your account.

So US, Canada and even my favorite baby - Ireland can calm down now.

Oya over to you guys!!!

Another trick...most travel agents might show you flight prices on face value but hide add-ons. Try to book and complete the process (checkout area where you need to make payment) to actually know what you will pay in total.....
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz:
Qatar is still cheaper...except for Etihad on Monday wch is the cheapest ($485 + $10 selection of seat). But Etihad on Wednesday and Friday is very expensive.

You can use farecompare, travelstart, wakanow BUT based on my research still find Qatar cheaper.

Very true...if you book days ahead you may find it cheaper than booking a day to travel date for instance...

Emirates though have daily flights from Lagos/Abuja but it's starting price is from N241, 500

damo20:
It depends I advise you check jumia travels or wakanow, or turkish air. I also advise you book early cos the closer it is the more expensive it gets

What school?

I applied 30th of July but the embassy said they didn’t get it till 3rd of August so to call them next week to follow up.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 10:25am On Sep 09, 2019
It's not in the International Office hands But the coordinators of the Master's programme who are saying ...."they don't permit Late Commencement for the programme ...as it is very intensive. I have pleaded with them and try to get them to understand the visa situation currently in Nigeria Eire Embassy. I even asked for a week (Sept 17th) in our last series of conversations But they wouldn't budge. I don lose weight finish huh

Gossiplover:
This is sad. I just don't undertand what happened to Ireland embassy this time around. Last year was better than this. I think you should plead with ur school's international office and explain the visa situation to them. You are not the only person that is being delayed by the embassy. The school should understand the delay.

If ur school doesn't extend ur resumption date, then you have to defer the admission. May it end well in ur favour.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 9:50am On Sep 09, 2019
Guys I need your candid advice.

As I wait for my visa, my school programme coordinator(s) refused my plea and wouldn't grant me an extension. I'm asked to report for classes starting Tomorrow by 9am or Else defer my place to next year if I can't make it.

Wetin I go do nowhuh My head dey boil!!! Submitted on August 5th in Abuja
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 11:21am On Sep 08, 2019
Course? and were you able to get an extension?

I'm going to UCD but I haven't arrived yet.
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 9:59pm On Sep 07, 2019
Hmm, nobody wetin ein talk be that oo. He answered within the context of the question asked. You need to show your bank statement. Read INIS Guidelines on study visa

sirgigs:
In a situation where one has a Sponsor and ones Employer issues an introduction letter are you saying no need to show my bank statement?
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 4:10pm On Sep 07, 2019
If it's to prove employment status, offer/employment/reference letter should be okay. If it's your most recent or current job, in addition to the letter, three months consecutive slips + bank statement could be attached as further documentary proof.

Study leave letter would be in a case where your employer was part of the decision (in support) for you to pursue further studies. That can also be used as "strong home ties" in your application to show you will return to Nigeria after studies to continue your jobsmiley

We worry our heads at times about what visa officers actually look out for. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just pray like the rest of us and leave the rest to God

Chibabe4Christ:
Its just an introduction letter from your company but my concerns is must you state in the letter that you are going for a study? If your HR just introduce as a staff without mentioning to the embassy that you are going for a study.. will the embassy frown at it?
TravelRe: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by vkyburnz: 12:43pm On Sep 07, 2019
Maybe the purpose of the letter is not clear to us.... Is it an introductory letter or a reference saying you are working (or worked) for them? is it to prove your employment status or what?

Maybe you need to state the exact purpose of the letter as it relates to your application and personal circumstances

Chibabe4Christ:
THANKS FOR THE INFO
May be my question is not clear enough,
I mean can the company issue you an introduction stating you are their staff bla bla blah without mentioning going to study.. will the embassy honours it? What if it did not include study will the embassy not accept it

What is the duration of leave letter?

Normally those transactions are captured (when account is debited for the treasury bills investment). I cant speak for all banks BUT for Ecobank, the interest + amount invested for the bills is credited back to the account on maturity date.

In the Ecobank scenario, it means the balance in the account will be less by the invested amount as at the time your sponsor request for a printout - assuming you want to apply for a visa with the bank statement at that particular time (b4 bills maturity date).

It might not be a problem if you ask your sponsor to attach with his/her bank statement the Certificate of Tresury Bills Investment wch details things like - yield, maturity date, etc. In your sponsor letter of consent that can be explained with the certificate as supporting evidence.

It could also be a problem since there's a portion of visa guidelines that says - ".....funds in sponsors account should be easily accessible ....."

In my opinion (others can add their experiences), it might be safer to get a co-sponsor just in case the visa officer thinks such funds might not be readily accessible.

Just my Lil one kobo

Emmanuel360:
Guys I need your input on this.

After paying my fee from my sponsors account about 99% of it, the rest of the money in his account was put an treasury bill amounting to 4m with maturity date 12th December. So I'll like to ask, can I still use him as a sponsor or do I have to find a cosponsor.
Please note the money in treasury bill will be available to me when the the bill matures. And please note my sponsor is a pensioner with monthly pension of about 170000(sometimes more).

Input please. Let me know my next step

just to add to what he said under 5

If he is the sole signatory to the business account (as shown by his CAC documents) then it is fine. But if he has other partners, then he has to get a letter of consent from other partners that shows they ALL consent to allow you access to the funds in that account to be used to fund your studies and cover your living expenses.

So confirm again from him if the business is a sole enterprise setup or a limited liability company and be guided as above and in line with what the first writer first wrote.

Best of success bro

kelss5020:
HELLO
1) THE SCHOOLS FEES DOESNT HAVE TO BE PAID FROM HIS ACCOUNT, ITS NOT THE EMBASSY'S CONCERN, YOU CAN PAY FROM ANY ACCOUNT AS LONG AS YOU GET THE RECEIPT OF PAYMENT
2)IT'S NOT NECESSARY EXCEPT YOU HAVE A A GOOD FUNDS THERE, IF YOUR SPONSORS HAS ENOUGH FUNDS TO COVER YOUR LIVING EXPENSES, THEN ITS NOT NECESSARY
3) YES HE CAN, YOU WILL HAVE TO SHOW EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP
4)YES, JUST HIS CAC CERTIFICATE IS SUFFICIENT, TO SHOW HOWS HES A BUSINESSMAN AND HOW HE GETS THE FUNDS IN HIS ACCOUNT
5) YES OF COURSE, AS LONG AS HE GETS A LETTER FROM HIS BANK INDICATING HE'S THE SOLE SIGNATORY TO THAT ACCOUNT
DID I ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS?YOU CAN SEND A MAIL FOR FURTHER CLARIFICATION SHA
