What if he said it while trying to advice Ike about ruining their chances? Even now that Seyi came to tell Esther that Shola has apologized to her team, Esther has remained on her stance that Shola said it. It takes a level of certainty for a human to insist that she heard Shola say it and refused to back down.

My gut tells me Esther is right. For her and Diane to have flared up and gotten angry, with her maintaining her stance, I'll have to believe her. Her countenance portrays someone that's sure of what she's saying.

Omashola was advising Ike about his attitude towards tasks. He said it is not like other team don't have weak links but they still strive hard to win.
Esther and Diane didn't understand the context before they blew it up.
Seyi's mistake was not calling Shola aside to ask him, he just acted spontaneously and approached Shola.
