23-year-old Nigerian college student identified as Bella was allegedly stabbed by a gang of five while she was waiting for a cab at Hennur, India on July 31.
According to Bella, who sustained a stab injury on her hand, the incident happened when she and her female friends were waiting for an Ola cab near Challakere Bridge at Hennur at 11.30 pm on that fateful day.
A car suddenly came to a screeching halt in front of them and a group of men alighted from the vehicle. They allegedly tried to strike a conversation with them, but police said it was not clear from her complaint what the conversation was all about.
According to police, the accused took out a knife and tried to stab on her abdomen, but Bella fought back and ended up sustaining a cut on her hand. The gang fled the spot when she was profusely bleeding and her friends raised an alarm.
Bella was taken to Live Line hospital and treated for her injury. She reported the case to the police and requested them to take action on the gang of five persons. However, police could not trace her after she was discharged from the hospital.
Deputy commissioner of police (East) N Satish Kumar said:
“We have taken up the case seriously and are investigating it. The attackers will be caught at the earliest.”

According to Hennur police, Bella and her friend were heavily drunk and they were not in a position to tell where they were heading for. Taking advantage of their drunken behaviour, the gang may have sought sexual favours from them. That could have led to the stabbing incident, as per the police, Bangalore Mirror reports.
Though there is a CCTV camera installed nearby, the police could not obtain the registration number of the vehicle the miscreants had come in. When police visited the spot, locals told them that Bella and her friends are often found at the same place late night.
“We have contacted the Nigerian association and requested them to bring Bella so that we can get details on the appearance of miscreants and on what context the gang approached and what went wrong on that day. They have assured to bring her to the station and we are waiting.” said Hennur police.

8 soldiers, one officer and 2 Airmen of the Nigerian Air force were killed in an attack by gunrunners and bandits in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State. The troops also killed 8 of the armed bandits and arrested 57 others. They also recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition.
Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, who confirmed the attack said that following covert surveillance and intelligence reports on the activities of some gun runners and armed bandits in Kopa, Dagma and Gagaw villages in Boss LGA, troops of 31 Artillery Brigade, 1 Division Nigerian Army in conjunction with Nigeria Air Force detachment on Internal Security Operation MESA went on quick cordon and search in the affected areas to recover suspected weapon cache and arrest the suspected persons and the armed bandits.
The statement reads:
“Contrary to statements attributed to some questionable vested interests, the troops were on legitimate official duty aimed at safeguarding lives and property of citizen in the area. While approaching and deploying to carry out their lawful duty, the troops came under simultaneous and sporadic shootings in all the three locations. They however responded as necessary in line with the rules of engagement. Sadly, an officer and 8 soldiers of the Nigerian Army and 2 Airmen of the Nigeria Air Force lost their lives in the line of national duty. Additionally, one soldier is still missing while 2 of their colleagues were seriously wounded.


The suspected gun runners and armed bandits also burnt down 4 operational vehicles and vandalized 2 others. Bandits also carted away 4 AK-47 rifles and one Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle belonging to the deceased soldiers.
The troops also killed 8 of the armed bandits and arrested 57 others. They also recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition. The recovered items include; 3 AK-47 rifles,10 Local AK-47 Rifles, 9 Locally made Pistols, 6 Revolver guns, which fires 7.62mm (Special ammunition), 45 Loaded Dane guns, 10 Clubs and Cudgels, 41 Arrows, 18 Bow cases, 122 Cutlasses and Machetes as well as 20 Daggers.
Other items recovered include 31 Axes, 63 rounds of 7.62 (Special) Ammunition, 10 Bajaj Motorcycles, Assorted Charms and Amulets, 2 Vehicles, 38 mobile telephone handsets, a wristwatch, 5 Identity Cards, Passport Photographs, Cash sum of N23,870.00k, 5 Japanese Yen and 35 different denominations of old Nigerian currency, 15 Catapults, 8 Torchlights, 2 Gun Powder bottles, 4 empty cases of Ammunition and 41 Cartridges.
The troops also seized a military Waist Belt and a pair of military Combat Boots.
It is important to stress that the nefarious activities of the gun runners and the armed bandits has direct bearing with the influx of weapons and general insecurity in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory and the North West geo-political zone of the country.
The same gun runners have been confirmed to be the suppliers of arms to armed robbery gangs that were involved in series of armed robbery attacks along Minna-Bida road and the general environment.
Although the situation is under control, the military will not rest on its oars until all those involved are arrested and brought to justice. The military will continue to deal with any violent threat to our national security.
The Army urge all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties as the cordon and search operation continues in the general area and if necessary expand to other identified areas to keep our people safe.

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has finally reacted to the controversy surrounding Nigeria’s Olympic Football team being stranded in Atlanta a night before their first Olympic match against Japan. The Director General National Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi OFR has visited one of the UN staff affected by insurgency attack on a humanitarian convoy returning from Bama to Maiduguri in Borno State, last week Thursday 28th July 2016.
The UNICEF Staff, Musa Konto, was one of the drivers in the convoy when it was ambushed by the insurgents but despite sustaining some injuries, he was able to his move his vehicle away from the location while the military escorts successfully repelled the attackers and fully neutralized the threats.
Alhaji Sidi, during the visit to the injured UN Staff at a private hospital in Abuja appreciated him and other humanitarian workers in the country for their continuous commitment to the cause of providing supports to the affected persons and communities in the northeast.
The DG, who was accompanied by some directors of the agency was received by Dr Ekwe Kingsley, the Director Surgical of the Hospital.

It all began when 16 year old Nia Green posted a photo of herself and her boyfriend, wearing nothing but a towel on her Facebook page. The mum got to see it and decided her daughter deserved to be taught a lesson she would never forget. She live streamed herself beating her as punishment.
She first took over Nia’s Facebook page and started a live video stream. Then with after more than 4,000 viewers, she started beating her with a piece o f plywood and her bare hands.
The video started with the mother saying:
“You wanna hide this boy in my f***ing house,” Green’s mother shouts before hitting her daughter.
She then instructs an unseen third party to keep filming as she beats Nia’s face, abdomen and head repeatedly.
“This is what you want,” the woman yells before smacking her child on the face. I thought it was my period,” Nia tearfully answers,
The mother then punches her on the stomach before saying , “You probably got some discharge, with your nasty a**!”
The beating continues until the mother was satisfied. she then walks over to the recording device and claims that she is taking over her daughter’s Facebook profile.
Few minutes after the video went viral, the mother received a lot of backlash from social media users and some human right groups. She then took to Nia’s facebook page which is now has her picture as the display pic to explain herself. She wrote:
”I love my daughter with all my heart what ever happens after this o well my daughter is not going to disrespect me or herself for nobody that shit Bernie Mac !!! Ain’t nothing change she still my baby girl 100. lesson learned now have a blessed day it.
A day after the incident Nia, made a post on Facebook , saying that she deserved to be beaten by her mother :
”First Off I Shouldnt Embarrassed My Moma , I Love Her . Yes this is me . Niaaa . I Shouldnt even been doing what i did. No i didnt have vari in my house when she said not to . I was at his house . Im only 16 yrs old . I was gonna open up and tell her that i was having sex . I was just gonna wait a couple days to see how i was gone tell her . I understand why she did what she did . Everybody laughing and making reenactments . Sharing my pictures im seeing everything. I did go to the hospital only because i have exotic attacks & real bad head ache . I embarrassed my moma so she embarrassed me” . Im not defending the live video cas when school start next week all eyes on me . Im at work all eyes on me . I kno next time to just keep my business to myself.
