Vice President Yemi Osinbajo shared highlights of the decisions reached at the National Economic Council which he chaired yesterday April 21st. Read below The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun gave report on the following;
1. EXCESS CRUDE PROCEEDS: the Council was informed that the balance on the Excess Crude Account stood at $2.3 Billion.
2. Update on the constitution of the board of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA): the Council was informed that nominees have been selected to form a Search Committee that will bring up names of potential Board members of the NSIA.
3. UPDATE ON STATES THAT HAVE RECEIVED BAILOUT FUNDS The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele reported to the Council that a total sum of N689.5 billion has now been disbursed as salary assistance loan to States and additional N310 billion disbursed as Excess Crude Account-backed loans to States. The Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun informed the Council that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the suspension of monthly deduction at source for this month, and that no such deductions would be made this month from the FAAC allocations to the States.
This act is intended by the President to provide the States with some financial relief at this time despite the fact that FAAC allocations are dwindling following the drop in oil prices. In addition, I informed the Council that President Muhammadu Buhari, will continue to review the situation of the States on an ongoing basis and take appropriate relief measures as necessary and when possible.

4. THE NIGERIAN ROAD SAFETY STRATEGY DOCUMENT (NRSS) The Federal Road Safety Commission, Corps Marshall Boboye Oyeyemi was in attendance to present the Nigeria Road Safety Strategy Document (NRSS – 2014-2018) to the Council. The document serves to address current overlaps, streamline the role and responsibilities of all participants in order to maximize the benefits of investment in road safety management activities.

Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has nabbed a Nigerian woman on charges of drug trafficking following a tip-off from the public. The 36-year-old suspect, identified by her initials LN, was arrested in Dagen area, Yogyakarta on Wednesday, April 20.
“The case came to the light after we received a tip-off from members of the public that there would be a drug related transaction at a hotel in Yogyakarta,” BNN Chief Commissioner General Budi Waseso said.
BNN sent its officer to monitor the hotel and found a person suspected of carrying drugs leaving the hotel for Jakarta by train.
Shortly after arriving in Jakarta, the person, suspected of being a courier, went to the capitals western outskirts of Tangerang.
“The BNN foiled the bid to trade 688.7 grams of crystal meth in front of a house-shop in Poris area, Batu Ceper sub-district, Tangerang municipality, on April 14, 2016. We caught the suspect, identified by his initials as YAK (37), after he handed over crystal meth to a 39-year old person identified as ISK,” he stated.
Based on information from YAK, the BNN officers arrested the Nigerian woman and also a 36-year old person identified as DS at an apartment in Karawaci, west of Jakarta, on the same day, he further revealed.
The suspects have been charged with violating the narcotics law. If found guilty, they can be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.

Dr Aminudeen Ibrahim Idris, 26, from Dambam LGA of Bauchi state (pictured above) took oath as a dental surgeon and the best graduating student with‎ record breaking academic achievement of 3 distinctions out the 4 final year clinical courses in dentistry.


Aminudeen died on Friday 29th January, 2016 in a ghastly motor accident along Damagum axis on his way back‎ from Maiduguri having collected his certificate of practice from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria at the oath-taking ceremony.

He is described by teachers as an intelligent and industrious fellow who is humble with deep interest for research and learning.

His colleagues and friends took to his facebook page to pay glowing tributes to the intelligent brand new Dentist who died at his prime…

Popular Nigeria Dancehall artiste, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, a.k.a Patoranking, is the latest celebrity act to sign up for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon .
The multi award-winning musician was at the Lagos City Marathon office at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on Tuesday, where he picked a form to register for the first full international marathon in Nigeria in three decades.
Patoranking, after completing his registration formalities, said he was quite excited at the Lagos Marathon project and he hinted that he would be going the whole mile on February 6 when over 20,000 athletes are expected to participate in the first edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon .
