hey guys, i must say that i have really enjoyed reading through all your posts and must say you all got something good to say. africaface, you are right. neocolonialism is a big problem in africa and most of the salaries of the expatriates are exaggerated. these people dont get paid as much for the same jobs in their countries. odeku, the oil actually belong to the people and it is the main or even the only source of nigeria's revenue. as such i dont think the in these regions should suffer at all.n buchio7, you are right also. most, if not all our problems in nigeria are caused by the greediness of our leaders.

rukus, i am speaking from what i have seen. 2face mimes mainly at shows. have you seen his abidjan tour? he even mimed there. i am not saying nigerian artistes are poor, but they could do better. blackface performs with a band at live shows and he is good. also i have seen jazzman perform with a band and he is good. but i have seen so many others that just lip sync to the music.

Music/RadioNigerian Artistes And Poor Live Performances by walaty(op): 4:16pm On Sep 28, 2006
Have you all noticed that Nigerian artistes do sing well, but when it comes to live performances they are zero. most foreign artistes go on tour and have live perfomances with bands. even if they take a dj, the dj plays only the instrumentals and the artiste performs to the music.

But have you noticed that majority of our artistes that we make noise about only mime at shows. they go on stage, the dj plays their cd and the artistes just mime. See guys like 2face, Styl Plus etc, they all mime. That is very poor.

What do you think can be done to improve live performances in Nigeria?

PoliticsAnti-corruption Law Of The Obasanjo Regime by walaty(op): 3:11pm On Sep 14, 2006
corruption in whatever form, whether bribe, fraud, embezzlement, kick back, etc, remains an intractable problem confronting post-colonial Nigeria. indeed, corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigerian society. corruption in Nigeria is recognized by the international community. a recent report by an international agency rated Nigeria as one of the five most corrupt countries of the world. it was in view of this ugly situation that olusegun obasanjo shortly on asuumption of office promulgated the anti-corruption law. **how well has this gone in curbing corruption in Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: Economic Development In Africa by walaty(op): 2:56pm On Sep 14, 2006
seun, please, i beg to disagree with you. have you ever heard of 'dependency'? it is a situation created by colonialism in virtually all African countries. it is a situation in which the economy of African states depends on, and is conditioned by the development and expansion of the economies of Western Europe and America. seun, African states have no control over international markets for their primary products. if you still dont agree, then i'll tell you about 'neo-colonialism'. this is seen as a new imperialist system for holding the developing countries in a state of dependence and exploitation under conditions when direct dominance has been eliminated and the balance of the forces in the world has changed in the favour of socialism. i am open to more suggestions seun.

PoliticsEthnic Militia And The Future Of Democracy In Nigeria by walaty(op): 5:00pm On Sep 13, 2006
the phenomenon of ethnic militia became noticable in the terminal stages of military rule in nigeria. prominent ethnic militias at that time were the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) in the south west nigeria, and the egesu boys in the niger delta. military rule had apparently produced a lot of dissenchment among the various peoples of nigeria. ostensibly, the aim of these ethnic militia was to champion the interests of their various peoples especially in the run-up to the return to civil rule. it was believed that the opening-up which will follow upon democratic rule will lead to the fizzzling out of these groups once democracy was restored in the country. however this has not been the case. instead, following the return to democracy, there was an explosion in the phenomenon. many new ethnic militia emerged including the bakassi boys in the south east, and the arewa peoples congress in the north. moreover, these and the old militia increasingly became more violent and political. the ultimate result was the aggravation of political tension and the intensification of inter-ethnic hostility in the country. as democracy takes root in the country, the phenomenon is non-the-less topical. although inter-ethnic violence traceable to the militia seems to be receeding, the militia groups themselves seems to be actually waxing stronger. they appear to have only changed tactic, the focus now apparently being intra-ethnic consolidation. **what ways can br proferred to contain this threat and to keep the phenomenon within bounds?
PoliticsEconomic Development In Africa by walaty(op): 3:20pm On Sep 13, 2006
for all african countries, political independence did not mean economic development as well, because the pattern of economic relationships between them and the developed countries remained the same. africa still depended on the european nations for capital for development and technology. african countries still supplied raw materials to the industrialized nations and in turn she buys from them manufactured goods of all sorts, in fact, the worst part of the arrangement is that africa has no control over the prices of her goods and those she imports. the industrialized nations control both. **what is responsible for this, and what is the way out?

PoliticsPolitics Of Debt (debt Relief And Africa) by walaty(op): 2:49pm On Sep 13, 2006
one of the issues that have generated debate and given the world much concern is the developing countries' chronic debt situation. beginning from the late1950s and the early 1960s when newly independent countries started emerging from colonial rule, the loans and facilities they took particularly to accelerate economic development have dramatically given birth to huge unsustainable debts that have threatened their survival, even their existense, as well as the world's politico-economic stability. somehow, we have taken for granted so much that is critical about this issue of debt, without asking ourselves why the World Bank, the IMF and the Paris Club should be interested in seeing to our economic recovery. why are they so keen to help us and everyone else in this particular way? does it really work? to what effect and to whose benefit? wat do you think people?
HealthAIDS: Biological Or Man Made? by walaty(op): 2:36pm On Sep 13, 2006
