@ika,

i dont think there are learning aides. About 30% of my classmates in secondary school (back in lagos) were from the Egun community so I picked a few words and thier names as well. I have a friend in London from that area tho, but she is not a NLer

Business / Re: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by waleleader(m): 10:52pm On Apr 16, 2007
I agree that businesses should solely be concerned about making profits, but the problem we seem to have here is that you guys see CSR as a cost. I strongly believe that CSR is not a cost but a wise investment I will take time to explain why CSR is an investment rather than a cost later
Business / Re: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by waleleader(m): 9:37pm On Apr 16, 2007
@Seun: CSR is what keeps America running.
Business / Re: How Do I Improve Profits In My Beauty Salon? by waleleader(m): 9:14pm On Apr 16, 2007
Provide unrivalled, excellent customer service

Contrary to Seun's capitalist view, reduce your prices at intervals i:e promotions, student discounts, elder-citizens discounts, regular customer discounts

Re-brand your salon i:e change its name to something pleasing to hear, preferably an english name

For instance, i would prefer to say i have my hair-cut at "Classy Cuts (Barbers)" compared to EmekaUgo barbing salon grin

If u can, redesign your space and improve interior decorations

Good luck

It looks as if the only truthful person on this thread from an unbiased point of view is Walelead grin grin grin grin
Thank you my brother, i just dont see the point in being tribalistic

To all those who say hausas are saints, You lie to yourselves.

Hausa's are not typically keen on living abroad especially in the west, thats why it seems they dont get in trouble. However, they control the government ministries and share ghana-must-go bags back at home.
Why would they have to go abroad when they can do it at home?

My job is sooo easy, grin grin

i chat up nice ladies and gents, i convince them to buy stuff they probably don't need at a ridiculously cheap price. Price depending on if i like them or not  grin grin.

And the pay is not bad at all, Its soooo cool

And yes, I could get a lot of numbers

@josboy

So u are saying there is no fraud in northern nigeria?

From what i know, they dont do thier own fraud outside home. They have defrauded us at home so much that the Ibos and Yorubas had no option but to go abroad
Computers / Re: Dirty Pictures On Office Computers by waleleader(m): 4:03pm On Apr 15, 2007
@babadee,
What times? Lol
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 12:10pm On Apr 15, 2007
All those saying Ibos are the scammers are pissingg me of  angry angry

All those yoruba and Benin boys in Thamesmead and other parts of SE London are doing the same

The volume of Igbos in America and South Africa is far larger than any other tribe, thats why it appears that they are majority

What of the Hausa's scamming the rest of us at home ie Government depts, ministries and all positions of power in Nigeria. Thats why the other tribes have to go abroad grin

we are all guilty
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:56am On Apr 15, 2007
Negro means Color black, Nigger is a short version of Negro

Therefore, Black people are niggers, yet an African American (of which Oprah is one) will call for the head of a whitty that calls them niggers

Same equation applies, I call for the head of any Naija basher that refers to us as Scammers

I Adewale, will no longer accept at being called a scammer either a Nigerian somewhere did it or not
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 12:44am On Apr 15, 2007
@ibdat and all,
Ill tell you why im defending this point strongly,

I live in the UK and have never seen british people admit to wrongdoing, ever

(Drunkards are called regulars, football thugs are called passionate people)

Only Nigerians admit that there are thieves, fraudsters etc in our society and that is why Oprah can ridicule us as a people and get away with it

Did u hear about british sailors abducted in Iran? They actually tresspased illegaly but their government refuted the claims and even threatened Iran until they were released

If Oprah wants to advise Americans, she needs not mention the N-word (As in Naija).

IBDat:

the guys using these internet cafes don't have such luxury hence why it was so easy for them to be apprehended.

You have just said something that will make me have a good nite rest,only a few, dumb, illiterate Nigerians are involved in this nonsense

A nation of 140 million minus 40 million that were not counted and over 25 million of us living abroad that were totally neglected, i dont think that scammers are up to a million in total

I still argue that 75% of Nigerians dont know how to switch on a computer lest do fraud

Even a few of us that launched Internet use in Naija (late Nineties) dont know a thing about all these things and Oprah opens her big mouth to exagerrate about how a handful of area boys from lagos are destroying America and the rest of the world.

IBDat:

what other Country do you knw that reaches such extremes tha 100s of people are on the internet and contacting these Americans, openly stating that are from Nigeria.

How can u prove that those mails are generated from Nigeria? An average American cannot differentiate between Africans and our accents.

i once had a lenghty arguement with some organisation called scam baiters (or something like that) and his research reveals that a high percentage of those mails are not from Nigeria but use our identities

Or do you know any Mobutu cese seko that is the King of OSHOBOGO (not Oshogbo) in Lagos? grin
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 12:06am On Apr 15, 2007
@tex,
I apreciate your optimism. Maybe im taking this issue a lil too personal.But, I believe thwt if ure bothered about a certain issue, u need to make efforts to help combat it.

Oprah does not seem to think that things will get better, she wont say it on TV but she is probably one of those that argue that 10% of our GDP is from 419.

Have any of them bothered to find out why Advanced fee fraud is called 419 in Naija, isnt it because that is the number of the NIGERIAN legal code that forbids such crimes
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:55pm On Apr 14, 2007
@ibdat,
my simple question is this?

since when has Oprah investigated piracy in China

since when has she investigated muggings,killings in Saffa

Cocaine in colombia

Robbery of Americans and other foriegners in nairobi, Kenya

Paedophilia in advanced countries

WHY NIGERIA ALWAYS

i may have to confront her to ask these questions since our embassies are useless anyway
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:47pm On Apr 14, 2007
@christino,
it will be silly for us to deny our many prolems in Nigeria, but what country doesn't have em?
Even almighty America

Nigerians are the nicest people in these countries. i will not call names but we all know what other countries around the world are known for?Yet oprah does not dedicate a whole programme to them

OR IS MARIJUANA  AND COCAINE NOW LEGAL WORLDWIDE?

@ika,

i rate british police as one of the best in the world. They found the identites of London 7/7 bombers in 7 days.
Every inch of the city is covered by CCTV, yet they cannot tackle the menace of 15 year olds killing themselves every day since last year.

The solution to 419 is a good government that effectively implements laws and provides social amenities. But it will take a concerted effort from us all. But what we surely do not need is one influential figure that has a hidden agenda slagging us down. Finito
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:30pm On Apr 14, 2007
you will be suprised to know that she probably hates Nigeria maybe because her parent (s) were Nigerians and they abandoned her. I had a manager who hates Nigeria that much only to find out that her dad was Nigerian and abandoned her Jamaican mum
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:24pm On Apr 14, 2007
ikamefa:

i don't think she does, she is just informing people on what is out there
why don't we channel our efforts towards stopping this 419 menace

And she is not helping issues is she? i am not one to whinge over an issue but the rest of the world focuses on the bad things Nigerians do as if they are holy. if its not 419, its fake documents or drugs

Why isnt she focusing on the negativities in South Africa, am i the only one who thinks this lady has a Hidden agenda against NIGERIA

4 Play:

I once saw an old edition of Oprah in which the theme was Nigerians marrying American women for "papers" and then dumping them.This was dated back to the early 90s

What struck me was that she allowed the victims,mostly unchallenged,to tell viewers to "be careful about hooking up with Nigerians".

At the end of the show she did add the caveat,"not all Nigerians engage in this activity" however,anyone watching who was not Nigerian,would have been left with that impression

@4play,

Thank you my broda, the woman hates Naija and she shows it all the time

[/b] why are u people just ranting over nuthing. . the woman is making her money all the same!
I'm happy for her, but if she says she can't stoop low to come to Nigeria to see the reality for herself, then she needs to shut up

since when has she extended her philantrophy past her lesbian skool in Saffa

I dont like that lady and i will say it, she one of those myopic americans that cant see beyond thier noses
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 11:10pm On Apr 14, 2007
@tex,

how come its Ok for black artistes to refer to themselves as ni***rs but white folks cant

We all admit that its true, but Oprah has no right to condemn Nigeria on World TV, its a disrespect.

How come she praise South Africa so much, yet people die in thosands from muggings on the streets of Jo'burg and Pretoria
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by waleleader(m): 10:48pm On Apr 14, 2007
@christino,
is it news to you that Oprah hates Nigeria, and so do the Williams sisters

Oprah has supposedly made a lot of negative statements about Nigeria but sings praises of Ghana and Saffa
