Ukraine disrespected Russia by trying to join NATO which means USA can put military base inside Ukraine which is a few kilometers from Moscow. Putin said they should back off Ukraine started forming strong man. Also the Russian speaking parts of Ukraine have been demanding secession since 2014 and Ukrainian government has been attacking them. So everything just reached boiling point and Putin said he's going conduct military operation in Ukraine this morning. He said the Ukrainian military should drop their weapons and go home to their families. Around 4 this morning they started attacking Ukraine. 5 never knack sef they've already burnt all Ukrainian defense system including all the drones that usa gave them. the Ukrainian government have been at war with the break away region naa. There are countless number of videos even on Twitter where normal citizens are running to hide inside bunkers in their own homes. If they hadn't been receiving mortars since why would they need bunkers in their own homes.
The war has been on since they broke away. The world didn't care until the Russian military build-up. Even now Russian troops have not crossed into Ukraine but those regions are getting bombarded. So whom are they bombarding, Russian troops who are still in Russia? They have been doing the exact same thing they're doing now, it is just making the news now because Russia stepped in

whether it was a coup or not depends on whom you ask. The Eastern Ukrainians call it a coup, the westerners call it a revolution. The endsars protest is called an attempted coup. The Jan 6th protest is also called a coup. Coup does not have to be military.
