dramaka: Not for the US. I know Canada does require. Your school will however ask for immunization records to rubella, measles and the likes. If you don't have, don't stress it, you can get it done when you get to school. If you have, take it along. Meanwhile, if you can get it done in Nigeria, do so, or you may end up paying so much for it here under the so-called health insurance which I just don't get. US doesn't at all |

Airich01: Lolzz... But its also the Visa fee in a way.. That doesn't matter. Just trying to explain. How is your day ? Umm.. Do I just go to GTBank and tell them I want to pay the us visa fees and they would tell me how to fill it? Yes and go along with your international passport original or photocopy because without it they wont sell US visa fee for you |

Justiceotuya: Good day everyone and thanks for your wonderful inputs.
I intend on applying for a passport but on checking the immigration site, it was stated that the fee for a passport is about 16,000 naira for 32 pages but countless people who I have asked told me that they spent at least 30,000 naira to get the passport.
So I want to ask if apart from the 16k stated on the site there is other fee we have to pay.and how much is it
Thank you very much You no try at all with your post, is like another part of naija you dey live and you no know as things dey go for my country.. No one will even collect 16k for you hand, and if dem collect you don enter one chance and they will tell you say paper no dey to print your passport.. If you stay in Abuja you can do it 21k with take away lunch |

Feexo: My utmost respect and admiration go to Walspring and Imperiouxx and a few others for having the time to be here in spite of how busy people can get in this country. I am inspired by you people. I pray that God be with those looking to get their student visas in the U.S. However, bear in my mind that getting the visa is just the starting point; you must be prepared to work relentlessly and assiduously to make it here. And ultimately, patience constitutes an integral part of any success story too. Stay blessed peeps!!! Amen and you too |

Ajibade105: Hello,
I got this message from my preferred supervisor. What do you guys think about the message. Find below the message;
@Lagosismyhome @happyday @Walspring
Thanks.If you are interested in working with me, I would advise that you apply to the program through the Mathematics and Statistics Department and make clear that you wish to work with me on biostatistics/infectious disease methodology.
I cannot, of course, promise you a position in my group. This is partly because it is not my decision alone – the Department makes the final decision about whether entry to a program is allowed or not — and also I would have to offer positions to the best applications that come in. However, your CV/background does look impressive and I could certainly see you fitting in with my group.In terms of potential projects, there are numerous things you could work on. For example, I have projects involving infectious disease modelling, implementing computational algorithms for fitting these models to data. I also have a project looking at using similar models to model fire spread.
Alternatively, there will likely be chances to analyse data sets using high-level, but less computational, statistical techniques. for example, using statistical/machine learning tools such as random forests.
It's hard to predict what the project would actually look like since research probably wouldn't start for 18 months from now given that as an MSc student you would be doing courses for the first two semesters. Most of my students I give a choice of possible projects near the time, and let them choose. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Congrats and the best is for you to act fast by doing what the prof asked you to do so that you can the department make final decision to admit you into the program |

Airich01: I knew this.. I was worried about the address because it's my friend's who paid for me in US ...Would this be a problem at the interview? Also, so you mean I can pay for visa this week and fill ds160 next week.. That's fantastic. Dude,I love you... . . . . Sorry, I like you. I forgot you're a guy,I still got the African mentality. Don't be worried about address because the address you filled when filling coupon payment form is what will reflect on the receipt and also location of paymnt won't be a problem because they knew that you can't pay from Nigeria Yes you can pay for visa fee anytime but pay early if you want to go for interview early |

Airich01: Okay, okay.. Now don't get angry.. don't. You're too pretty for that. Yeah. That's why I also noted that I am not using my Nigerian passport and the country who's passport I am using needs to pay a reciprocity fee. What I need to know now is do the US consulates in Nigeria accept third-country national application...? God help me. Sure they do because i have seen some Nigerians here who applied from another country but its always good to apply directly from you country because that will give you home ties but if you have permit in the country that you are applying from, it another form of home ties |

I think all you have is funds and a good travelling history, you lack the zeal and a prime objective for an advance degree. you're lucky i am not the consular officer, i will deny your student visa and cancel ur B1/B2! Let's give thanks to God that you are not the consular officer. |

LagosismyHome: I am not an expert but i think even if f1 is denied the b1b2 will still be valid..... also with good travel history it does help your chances of f1 visa . If she has been going in and out of US with her B1/B2 visa, the two major reasons she will be denied F1 visa will be if she doesn't state good reason for her going to US to study and also for violating the US immigration rules and regulation in her last visits to US. |

sehawale: Please does anyone know if being denied of student visa invalidates your existing visiting (b1/b2) visa? I'm asking cos I have b1 visa that I have renewed more than 3 times and I have been in and out of the US for more than 8times on thes e b1 visas.
It is about time to get a higher degree ( schooling is my hubby but I got this job in O&G with irresistible offer five yrs ago and I'm there till today). I believe the chances are high that I will be given a student visa because I will be sponsoring myself from my savings. However, nothing is sure in life except God. So I need anyone with first hand information to answer if being denied study visa could invalidate your existing visiting b1 visa or they are not related? I want to continue to enjoy my vacations in and out US even if they don't want me to study in their country. Why would you think about getting denied of F1 visa after you have been to US more than twice and renewed thrice and then thinking of invalidate as well? But F1 visa can be denied if you didn't state good reasons for going to US to study and also for violating the US immigration rules and regulation in her last visits to US |
