@poster my own opinion on this is simply TRUST IN GOD AND BE CAUTIOUS. If you are sure your mother is after your death or failure, then stay away from her. As for me i believe mothers have great bonds with their children, even the so called witches we watch in films feel great pains to see their children dead. God forbid that's what your mother is. On trusting Nigerians you meet abroad: it depends on the luck cos there are two groups you will meet, the good ones and the bad ones. My first time of leaving the country I was privileged to meet a certain ibo guy on arrival, this guy accomodated me till i returned back home. Doesn't that sound good! Now ask those who have fallen victims of the bad ones, they will tell you to exercise more caution than what you stated cos those bad ones are just bad, they dont care if you die as long as they have what they want from you. My watchword when it comes to relating with new people is "GIVE WHATEVER YOU CAN AFFORD WITHOUT EXPECTING WHATEVER THEY POSE TO OFFER IN RETURN", and this has realy helpd me avoid falling prey whenever the bad ones come my way. 1 Like |

I want to beseech all young Nigerians and foreigners on nairaland who are aiming to set up a business of any type and size in Nigeria to carefully take into consideration this few tips I'm about giving in other to avoid regret in business and ensure real success, especially at this time of economy recession and security challenges in the country. Let me start by saying this: Nigeria is richer than many of the countries doing better than us in terms of standard of living, economy, development, etc. Our problems has never been a bad leadership but the inability of more than 90% of the population to turn what they have to their advantage, you will agree with me if you make a study of each area of our land. Infact, Nigeria is a land of great treasure and wealth, which is always available to any one ready to tap into it but in the right way. The first thing I want you to avoid when setting up a business in this world's most populated black nation is Quick-Way, Express, Back-yard or whatever name they give to what is known as Bribe. Though this is particularly meant for those willing to set up a registered business, but everyone irrespective of nature of business needs to fight against it. I have a name for Bribe and Bribing "ACPA" meaning "Anti-Capital and Profit Agent". If you want to avoid regret of any form in your business in Nigeria you should learn to say NO to BRIBING. Also, by embracing the right process you are not only saving your capital from ACPA but also giving your business a solid foundation. You can imaging someone giving out N500,000 to an agent to register and incorporate a business name, a process that will cost below N20,000. On this forum I once read of a man I guess would be a fresher in motor dealing that spent about N1.5m to clear in to Nigeria a particularly brand of car from Cotonou and was happy that custom duty was paid on his car when the truth is the payment made was short for the model of the car. A friend once told me he spend up to N350,000 to have his table water Business registered by NAFDAC, he ended up in big debt. If you need a good foundation that will withstand future challenges and guarantee real success in your business you must embrace the right process. No alternative. I will like us to share useful ideas together. So if you are an investor or a business owner in Nigeria? Kindly give your us your own way of staying on top of what you do. Thanks. |

I read the rubbish from that lapaz64 before the post was hidden. He sounded like an angry lion, but all I can tell him is Nigeria is better than the hell hole he's roaring from. @poster... If you are seriously determined to stay in Nigeria for business, kindly carry us along, I for one will throw bunches of ideas to you from here with 100% success guaranty, and I'm sure I got many other good fellow Nigerians businessmen here too that will do the same. Standard wise, you can rate the two countries alongside each other, but if you've asked this question for the purpose of relocation I will suggest SA if you are a christian and Malaysia if you're a muslim. If you are an atheist, my dear Nigeria accomodates all. Mind you, I'm not saying you can't be good in either of them, in as much as you are a law abiding fellow. |

To the best of my knowledge Canada will earn you bigger pay but when it comes to ease of getting work visa and permanent residency Australia is a better choice. Presently Australia is welcoming nurses, and offering them golden offers. 1 Like |

I'm sure you know this already that Nigeria is one of the best countries in the world where you can come, reside, invest and live like a king without racial discrimination. The no law point my friend is raising is not the determiner of your safety and success here, all you need is the Nigeria (personal and financial) survival spirit as someone mentioned to you, so if you realy have a good fund at hand, just proceed here and build your wealth. I love giving instance, which you can work on to find out if I'm right or wrong about, common pure water business in Nigeria can make you a multimillionaire in no time if well plan, not to talk of establishing schools, import and export businesses and other more lucrative options. There are many rich foreigners here doing great in their choice of business, and many are still seeking that golden opportunity to tap into Nigerian commercial wealth. |

You know I personally war against the many dubious so called agents and warn people to avoid them but I dont ever think using a genuine travel agency to process your travel trip is a bad idea, as long as the service charge is not on the high side and thereby affordable. @ poster. All I will say is get down to the ukrainean embassy in abuja, check on the notice board, u will find 2 or 3 agencies the embassy recommend for documents translation, the closiest is the one at KCity plaza, but you can do your translation in any of them. Use wisdom to seek for assistance from them, they will put you through with no charges or wt peanut. Also tell the uni that sent you the invitation, or the agent in ukraine to contact the embassy for IV confirmation, it's the most important thing you must ensure after you've gotten ur IV, and that's how the embassy know the genuine from the fake IV. I read from frontpage that Dangote is recruiting graduates for heavy vehicle drivers' training and end employment in his companies. You can give it a trial by sending your CV to jobs@dangote.com, if you are selected then take your time to save well to move to a very good country. That's if you must relocate to fulfill your dream. I know how you feel but please dont be too desperate to move out. I pray God to see you through and help you fulfill your destiny. |

otokx: Since you want to do business then it just has to be Lagos which has extended a bit into some areas of Ogun State.I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on this point. Believe me there are states in Nigeria other than lagos in which you can invest and succeed greatly in a little time. Infact I'm a living proof, I terminated a good contract some years back to settle for a full time self owned business, lagos was my choice and I poured much of funds into my chosen business, it took me years to recover my capital and bliv me the biz was worth let go if not for the location and the name. Few years back I gave a trial to an idea of business that initially seemed stupid to me cos of the nature of it and the location, precisely Osun and Oyo states, but in about 6 months I've already realised my capital back, and I cant just start giving you the clear positive difference I have experienced in the business in terms of ease and turnover. |

I adviced you cos I see you as an experienced businessman taking such huge decision with your age at 21 to relocate to a giant country like Nigeria without previous Nigeria experience. It is a plan that demands extra care, financial and life safety precautions of which if not given may land you in regret. That's why I gave you places that guarantee peace alongside medium business for a start. I wish you the best. |

Visitors can still survive in Kano and Maiduguri, maybe that's the place u need someone here to tell you to go. To be frank with you, all the options you have received so far are all good, so make your choice and stop bothering yourself and people here unnecesarily. |

I will advice you to settle in a less popular city like Osogbo, Ife, Ila Orangun, Ilesha or Ikirun ( all in Osun State), Ibadan, Ogbomoso, oyo town or Iseyin ( all in Oyo State), Ondo town (Ondo state). Any place you choose to stay among the listed places will quarantee your peaceful stay in Nigeria and any investment you make in these places will be highly appreciated and profitably rewarded.. If you realy need business with full peace of mind, then take to this. I'm not saying lagos, Abuja, portharcot and the likes of them are not booming but you need to consider a lot of factors before setting down in any of them. Let me give you a clue with the hope that some dudes wouldn't start their usual insults and irrelevant scams alerts warnings. I recently engage in a palm oil business at a medium scale in few of the states I mentioned and I can tell I've realised in just few period of start far more profit than what my business in lagos will earn me in years of dealings. More importantly, I enjoy perfect peace of mind, while I run my lagos biz alongside. |
