sarrki: nathan
Residents of Otuoke in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa, have appealed to the State Government to repair the Otuoke-Onuebum road which has been in a deplorable condition.
The residents made the appeal in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Otuoke on Sunday.
Mr Ologi Damiete, told NAN that the condition of the road had become worse since the last rainy season as vehicles now found it difficult to pass through.
Damiete, a staff of the Federal University, Otuoke (FUO), appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the residents by fixing the road.
“The condition of this road has become worse since the flood that submerged the whole community and there has not been any preventive measure to forestall future occurrence.
“We are expecting the government to put necessary measures in place to guard against future occurrence.
“Students of FUO have resumed for the new semester and they have been finding it difficult moving in and out of the community.
“I am calling on all the relevant authorities to look into the matter because we has become unbearable. Our vehicles have been damaged because of the road,” he said.
Another resident, Mr Oweifa Debekeme, urged the state government to make more efforts toward checking flooding in the state, pointing out that flood had destroyed many roads in the state.
He said that the people were suffering and government had the responsibility to alleviate their agony by providing roads and other infrastructure for them.
A taxi driver plying the road, Mr Babatunde Adeola, said the road was already in a bad shape before the flood destroyed it completely.
Adeola called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to also help repair the road to alleviate the plight of the people.
He implored the Bayelsa Government to come to the aid of the people of Otuoke and Onuebum communities as well as students and staff of the university.
He said the youths in the communities now help by sand-filling the bad portions on regular basis, adding that “commercial drivers now pay them for that”. (NAN

crosbreaka: Press Statement John Kirby Assistant Secretary and Department Spokesperson, Bureau of Public Affairs Washington, DC December 8, 2016
On December 5th, the Kaduna State Government in Nigeria issued a long-awaited White Paper on clashes last year that resulted in the deaths of a reported 348 civilians and one soldier. We fully agree with the White Paper’s recommendation that members of the military who were involved in the unlawful killing of civilians must be held accountable and punished appropriately. As the one-year anniversary of this tragic event approaches, we call on the federal government to be diligent, transparent, and expeditious in following through on this recommendation.
We are concerned by the White Paper’s characterization of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) as an “insurgent group,” and urge the Nigerian government at every level to seek pathways for non-violent engagement with all citizens, including minority religious groups. We also encourage the federal government to act on the Abuja high court’s decision on December 2 that IMN leader Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife should be released from prison within 45 days, as they have been held without charge since the events of last December.
We note reports that the IMN has taken actions that have undermined public order and safety. We call on the IMN to respect public order and cooperate with law enforcement authorities as they carry out their lawful duties.
Respect for the rule of law and the civil rights of all segments of society is a hallmark of democracy. As the White Paper notes, “the right to freedom of worship is a cherished constitutional right” in Nigeria that must be protected. We encourage the people and the government of Nigeria to support these fundamental principles, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or region.

We know the consequence of your consern to people of Libya, Iraq, Syria Kosovo etc. Pls USA mind your own business ooooo, before thunder of high heaven strike your country. |

bumi10: Breaking: Opposition Party's Candidate Akufo-Addo, Wins Ghana Presidential Election
Looks like the battle is over in Ghana's Presidential Elections and it is breathtaking. Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has won Ghana’s presidential election with an absolute majority over incumbent President John Mahama, two influential private radio stations has announced today being Friday 9th, December 2016.
Ghana's main opposition leader, Nana Akufo-Addo, has won the West African country's presidential election with an absolute majority over President John Mahama, two influential private radio stations said on Friday. Ghana is a beacon of democracy in a region that has seen a series of civil wars and coups with a record of peaceful elections in which power has alternated between two main parties.
Joy FM's website showed Akufo-Addo winning 53.27 percent of the vote and Mahama on 44.93 percent, based on its count of 233 constituencies out of 275 in total. Citi FM gave Akufo-Addo 54.97 percent based on 231 constituencies.
If confirmed, the results would represent a bigger margin of victory than either party has achieved in recent elections and validate Akufo-Addo who lost by narrow margins in 2008 and 2012. Mahama appealed for calm and told his supporters he would respect the outcome of Wednesday's vote whether he won or lost, in comments aimed at defusing tension ahead of the release of official results expected Saturday.
In Mahama's words:
"I want to assure the nation that we will respect the outcome of the election, positive or negative, and so let us just be calm," he told supporters gathered outside his house".
His campaign chief said on Friday the party lost many parliamentary seats but hopes to win the presidency. The country is eagerly awaiting official results but Ghana Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei said they would be announced by Saturday once technical issues had been resolved.

PortableAngel: The long awaited Lagos Rent-to-Own Scheme has been scheduled to commence on December 8, 2016. The project which is meant to satisfy the hopes and aspirations of low-income earners in Lagos is finally here.
However, the housing project has been doubted by so many Lagosians who feel that it is one of the government methods to deceive the people and reserve the properties for a group of people in government. Governor Ambode has made a number of provisions to make sure that the houses go to the low-income earners. Below are the top six reasons that make the Lagos rent-to-own scheme genuine:
Only first-time home buyers are eligible for the scheme The governor slashed the prices of the homes to encourage low-income earners The home is not transferable The house will be paid for from the source of income There is an age limit The Rental Housing Policy will cover the working class.
According to the Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, the policy was in response to the yearnings of residents for affordable and decent housing.
He said that the `Rent to Own’ policy would target low-income earners in both formal and informal sectors, while the `Rental Housing’ policy would cover the working class.
He said that the `Rent to Own’ policy will also cover those with regular income, with the rent deducted from source. He said that the government would kick-start the project with over 1,000 units out of the 3,192 units earmarked in the first phase.
Lawal said the first phase of the project would be sited in the following areas: Epe, Agbowa, Ojokoro, Alimosho, Igbogbo, Igando, Iponri, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Ajara and Badagry.
He said that five per cent value of the housing unit would be paid as commitment fee on the Rent to Own Policy, while the balance would be spread for 10 years.
On the Rental Housing policy, Lawal said that rent would be collected on a monthly basis, and tenants were required to pay one month deposit, according to the prevailing rent in each location. He said rented apartments are not transferable.
Lawal said that applicants must be primary residents in the state and would be required to submit a copy of their Lagos State Residents Registration Card.
He said that applicants must be first-time home buyers, must be 21 years old and above, as well as be tax compliant, among others. The commissioner assured that selection process will be credible, fair and transparent, saying units in the rent to own scheme spread across the state ranges from one bedroom to three bedroom flats while unit price ranges from N1.5m to N25m depending on location and type.

The 16-year-old boy in Aba(Abia State) named " Uchenna Okwu Sunday," whom I told you I saw his creativity in Aba previously; has constructed a prototype lamp for people living around who are Traders.
The story I heard is that him(Uchenna), have been repairing electrical fault in people's houses and teaches his mates which has made him more popular in his area. Recently, a man-trader came to him and asked him to help construct a lamp which will produce light while he sells at evening due to power failure in such area.
I was surprised to hear that in less than 24 hours, Uchenna has constructed this prototype lamp and gave to the man-trader. In addition, when other Traders saw it, they were amazed and they demanded he constructs for them too at which he sells #200 each.
When I interviewed him on how he constructed the lamp, I learnt he used a rubber type of plate, four pieces of wires, batteries, a plain wood, a burnt electric bulb that he inserted a torch bulb inside. This boy you see is a school-drop-out in his SS3 due to financial issues. See photo of the Prototype Lamp below: The kind of creativity Nigeria children possess is amazing, i vividly remember in our primary school days we use clay, iron, tins, rubber, wood, bamboo, palm, toothaste tubes etc to construct amazng things. As we grown up because of lack of enconragement, the whole natural skill fadded away. Our school system made us believe that it's only when you have certificate you can get good job. If it's to say, then they told us that it's only through creativity that you make big money, we will all develop our creative brain. The school system failed us. That is why, Many creative genius in the world are school drop out. |

StOla: It is Ogunlesi not Ogunlensi.
Secondly, he is Ijebu from Ogun state, not Ondo state. His father is Professor Ogunlesi, the first Nigerian professor of medicine.
As for Trump and the Republicans, they have a penchant for assembling capitalist gurus, that in turn wreck the solid economy already achieved by the Democrats.
Bush made sure he wrecked the economy he inherited from Clinton. Obama cleaned up the mess of Bush, now a Republican Trump has come to inherit a stable democrat engineered economy.
How do the Republicans wreck the economy? They invite all their capitalist friends to run the country, who as a matter of first priority, erase all forms of government regulations in their own respective business sectors. Bluntly put, they are in power to see how best to grow their own businesses. They continue to take all manner of greedy risks, even if they have to bet against America.
They quickly cut taxes for the wealthiest of the wealthy, claiming such increase in disposable income would be reinvested in the economy by creating more jobs. When the charade falls apart, they run back to beg for government bailout with tax payers funds, while still flying about in chartered flights living an illusion called American Dream. The average Joe remains average.
Time will tell if Trump will wreck it in typical Republican fashion, while the short memory Americans run back to the Democrats for succour in a cycle that never changes. Oga sincerely speaking, you display the great value of education here today. You make me proud. Some stupid wailers who don't have good education about history and economy will just be wailling nonsense here thinking they are smart. To save american economy and it was the same these so called CEO's who ran their various company down in the first place under president Bush. And the same circle is about to begin again. In the next 8yrs, US Govt will still bail ou the companies run by these harvard graduates so as to save the America Economy. |

aarressa: You mean we should keep begging you to stop bombing and destroying your own land like we've been begging you with so many peace initiatives, more money, NDDC, amnesty and billions upon Nbillions of amnesty PAYMENTS?
No, they can not keep holding us to ransom or keep blackmailing us forever, they can blow up the whole of ND and drink whatever oil they have left, who cares?
What have they done with all their derivations, allocations, IGR, amnesty payments and so on?
Delta state is the most indebted country in Nigeria with N700 billion debt, but can you point to one thing they did with that money?
Oil is an international commodity and we can get it from anywhere and even oil is available in other peaceful and non violent parts of Nigeria or even from outside Nigeria. Don't you know that orubebe, asari and co will always encourage their boys to continue blowing up pipelines, so that tomorrow FG will give them contrct to clean the environment naa. That is what is in their ogogoro sense. Stupid people i ever seen. |
Romance › Re: What Does This Lady Really Mean? by wasuka14(m): 5:53pm On Nov 28, 2016 |
Eddodoh: A week ago, I met this lady and I expressed my love to her. Last Friday evening we talked on the phone and agreed that I would visit her on Saturday as she was going to be free from work.
On Saturday morning, I saw two missed calls from a strange number and I decided to call back, I learnt she's the one and I told her that I would be visiting as earlier scheduled. I visited but while chatting she told me that her phone fell down after we finished talking the day before and the screen got affected and no longer show callers identity. I advised her to take it for check up and probably repair.
The previous day being Sunday, we were together and somehow she brought the issue of the phone. I still maintained that she take it for repair and she said that she prefer HTC phones. I looked and I asked her what she meant. She said that she has a HTC phone that has being with a phone engineer.
I asked for how long and she said that it's being there for almost 3months, she went further to inform me that the Engineer requested for 5k to fix something on the phone that she called Porsche, she also said that the battery got affected too. I asked her if the 5k includes battery replacement and workmanship, she said, no. I kept quiet but deep inside me, I wonder why her phone fell down recently instead of trying to fix it, she now want me to pay for another phone she claimed has being on repair for 3months.
Before I knew it she concluded that we can visit the Engineer today, Monday to know the progress and how to get the phone fix. She has being calling though I have told her that I am still in the office.
To me, I feel that she is up to something, this is someone I just hook up with and even though I have the money, I think that's not the best thing to do.
Your comment, opinion and suggestion is appreciated. Guy in today I-tech world if you are not ready to spend for babes do not date one. Especially the well exposed babes. Whether you meet today or ystd doesn't matter. What of if she give u the first day, won't you do it?
