uche87:
Events seem to have turned out awry for Nigerian prolific singer, Innocent Idibia as he mixes political activism with music in his clamour for a nationwide political protest that has been welcomed with mixed reactions in Nigeria.

When Benue native, Innocent Idibia self-styled 2face declared a nationwide protest on the 26th of January, 2017 in reaction to the ailing economic of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari, the move gained tremendous support on social media.

Davido, Olamide, Burna Boy, Comedian I Go Dye, Daddy Showkey, Charly Boy Oputa and other prominent entertainers supported 2face and their followers on social media were in high spirits about protesting against the administration of 'change' of the All Progressives Congress which has lost its popularity majorly as a result of the consequences of a recessive economy.

As other entertainers maintain silence about the activism planned by the 'African Queen' crooner, two Nigerian lecturers namely Professor Akindele Adetoye and one Dr. Bunmi Awoyemi Divinewealth respectively whitewashed 2face and attributed his problem to lack of proper formal education.

The former described 2face as a randy man who has failed to govern his personal life after indiscriminately sleeping with women unprotected and impregnating several others. The latter orientated 2face about the efforts of Buhari in offering bail out funds to the state governors as well as advocate for the clearance of the backlog of salaries through the Paris Club refund money to ease the sufferings of state civil servants.

2face, 41, officially has 7 children from three different women all except the last female child outside wedlock before he settled with his long-time girlfriend, Annie Macauley Idibia. Some fundamentalists and puritans on social media are of the opinion that the singer lacks the moral stand and reputation to lead a protest against a leader 'working' assiduously to fix the rot purportedly left behind by the 16 years of misrule by the People's Democratic Party, PDP.

As Dr Bunmi Awoyemi Divine also alleged with some supporters of Buhari, 2face benefited from some chieftains of the PDP who have their hands tainted with corruption cases.

When 2face got married to Annie in 2013, he enjoyed some controversial and ostentatious gifts from the former Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio as well as a former Senate President David Mark which the latter denied in the face of hard evidence.

Mr. Akpabio announced a gift of two brand new Toyota Prado SUVs to 2face and his wife. He also reportedly promised to bankroll an all-expense paid trip for 29 delegates from the state to attend the white wedding of the couple fixed for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on March 23, 2016.

Besides, he also hosted a lavish state dinner in honour of the couple and promised to rehabilitate the Eket-Ibeno Road ahead of the child dedication of 2face and Annie.

Akpabio is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged mind-boggling fraud of N108 billion which was reportedly committed during his two terms - 2007 to 2015 as the First Man of the South South State.

2face was also purportedly gifted an outrageous and questionable gift of a N47million car on his wedding day with other unnamed perks that led to an outrage which forced the Benue politician to deny gifting him the brand new 2013 Chevy Corvette sports car despite his name being crested on it.

Meanwhile, David Mark's profile just like many public officer holders in Nigeria has come under questioning. According to New York-based news platform - Sahara Reporters, David Mark was a core member of the “Babangida Boys” club within the Nigerian military hierarchy under military dictatorship directed by the evil genius, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida between 1985-1993 during which he allegedly made a fortune stealing public funds.

According to Premium Times, he also has links to at least eight offshore shell companies while holding public office. This act is in violation of a federal code of conduct law, a massive leak of files belonging to Mossack Fonseca, a law firm in Panama exposed in April, 2016.

Since government is a continuum, political analysts have questioned why Tuface who benefited from Nigeria's days in the 'wilderness' will have the impetus and audacity to organize a national protest bearing in mind that the economic quagmire of Nigeria was orchestrated by the previous administration.

Economists even predicted the current economic recession since the year 2014 as oil prices at the international market suffered a free fall under former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. This according to them betrays the golden saying that "he who comes into equity must come with clean hands"

As a final nail to the coffin of 2face, a member of his defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz in the person of Blackface questioned the sincerity of 2face whom he accused of stealing the hit song of the group, African Queen which was released illegally under Kennis Music record label from where he raked massive cash.

He accused 2face of failing to identify with the people of Benue State in the face of their travails in the hands of Fulani herdsmen with limited and unsatisfactory government intervention. He supported the view that Tuface is an illiterate who lacks representation in his Local Government Area in Benue thereby betraying the principle that charity begins at home.

In a stinking interview with LIB, Blackface said:
"Let me tell you something. Does 2face Idibia have a fruitful foundation? No, Does 2face Idibia have anything that has to do with Benue State? No! Let me tell you something now. Emma Ugolee (a sick celebrity) is in the hospital. If somebody is a front runner what is he supposed to do? 2face is supposed to be able to mobilize people to figure out a way to raise money for Ugolee 's hospital's bill. If I want to do that, the radio and TV are not going to listen to me. You guys have to come out straight. I don't know what will happen after it but we don't have to do no protest. Let us get our mind straight, they should stop that and stop manipulating people's mind."

The drama seems unending as Nigerians remain divided over the national protest scheduled for 6th of February, 2017 at the national stadium, Lagos State. Tuface remains unfazed about the challenges and criticisms as he plans to actualize his plan as announced in today's public announcement on social media.

I support 2face idibia in the protest. He is really a man to stand up to do what the whole nation ought to have done long ago. Buhari's government is not just bad,it is terrible, autocratic. Buhari is a dictator and every good meaning Nigerian must support this protest. Buhari is only using people to degrade tuface.

I think that similar nationwide campaigns need to begin towards positive thinking among Nigerians. Society, education, hardwork, honesty, kindness, anger control, patience, understanding, creative thinking, leadership etc etc should be put back into our society. Lets uproot cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, prostitution (runs), low IQ, violence, rude-talk, carelessness, disrespect for society etc etc.

Which good government have we had in Nigeria in the past years? How many governments have really put Nigeria on the path of progress or success?
Every new government in Nigeria has inherited a chain of problems from several past years and administrations. And the complex entanglement of our problems makes Nigeria a difficult country to run. Any attempt for a radical change has been met with serious opposition usually fueled by those who benefit from the ills of our system.
The problem with Nigeria is "we Nigerians". I hope that the sponsors of these protests have solution to our problems.
Let each of us ask ourselves, "if I was president of Nigeria, and i know what I know about Nigeria today, what would I do?

seriously speaking Nigerians are their problems, they always leave the message to attack the messenger, so even if 2face is a Devil but want to speak for the common people its now wrong? so we will continue to wait for a Saint to lead the protest before everyone will join? ok lets wait.my own is that i thank God that i never voted this government in the first place. I have never seen any civilized country where their people see peaceful protest as a bad thing like Nigeria thats why i keep saying that Nigeria as a country can never get better. Its only those that like deceiving themselves will continue to tell u that Nigeria will get better when they are not doing anything to show that the country is going to get better.

Whats is wrong with Nigerians? We are the most selfish and centered human beings you can find in the surface of the earth.Majority of Nigerians are educated illiterate both old and young..they are coward and would rather smile under the face of hardship and oppression than fight for their right to make their country convenient for them to live in..they would rather fast and pray and ask God to Send a messiah from heaven to save them from their current situation, yet they would not lift a finger to help themselves or contribute to nation building..they have become slave onto themselves because of years being oppressed, so they see it as a way of life. So many of them are even here on Nairaland..and i feel very sorry for them both old and young. It is a helpless situation..they call it mention slavery.

I know by now, they will be looking to know how to arrest 2face. Enough is enough. Let's use our power of speech and media to say NO! to the hardship imposed by this government.

My broda, the problem with Nigeria is not the bad rulers, but the gullible and docile citizens, who accepts anything done by the wicked rulers.

Mind you I was a die hard buhar's fan, I campaigned as if Buhari himself told me what's in his head,
I wanted a change of proceedings, afterall they say change and death is the only constant thing in life,
That being said, my people said you won't cherish what you have until you lose it, (wisdom)
I could kill or die for Buhari, I so much believed in his so called principled life, that i believed he was the right man for the job, and after all this what did I see,
I see incompetence, failure, nepotism, and destruction of the already destroyed system.

Now back on the attacks on 2face, the only thing I can deduce from it, is the one and only thing hindering our growth as a nation, which is hypocrisy nothing more,
For all calling 2face illiterate, well I rather be an illiterate like him and make something positive in life and be able to touch others lives, than be a prof or an educated liability that as no purpose and can't be of any use to myself and others.
What is 2face's crime, if they don't know I'll remind them, 2face's crime is speaking out about what affects everyone, using his fame that he laboured for years to achieve, though " illiterate mentality "to help remind the "educated illiterates" of what's to be done.
Mind you 2face as tried for himself no matter what happens he and his type can't lack like the other populace.
So if giving his voice to the voiceless and standing with the weak and downtrodden is a crime, then I rather be a criminal,
They are busy attacking his private life, so tell me when it became crime to collect gift, as if all those hypocrites don't wish they were in his shoes, why attack the messenger and leaving the message unattended to,
What is the protest about, simply to remind the oppressors in power, that the populace are suffering,
Why is that a big thing, even Buhari 's wife saw these things and cried out, but some fools still blame her,
Remember Buhari 's lineage or children can't never know poverty again, that's if they ever know it before.
The president is surrounded by sycophants that will forever lie to him, but if going on protest is the only key that can unlock that harden heart of our president so be it. They can continue to attack 2face it won't change the fact that every thing as double but not our income, that more jobs as been lost than that gotten, that the economy of Nigeria is at all time low and bad.

Enough of excuses, pls if you can't fix it, then return to factory setting abeg. Prosperity will judge all of us whether we speak out or not, it will remain in scroll of history.
So 2face ride on the remaining "illiterates "will join your peaceful protest to remind our rulers that street is not smiling.
