A fatal accident involving a truck, a Taxi and a motorcyclist with his passenger occured on Friday, January 19, 2024 in front Federal Girls College, Akure, Ondo State.

An eyewitness who wants to remain anonymous told SOJ WORLDWIDE Correspondent that the truck coming from Benin Motor Park tried to overtake a Taxi when he collided with the incoming motorcycle.


The motorcyclist and the passenger died on the spot. The graphic videos of the incident was sent to SOJ WORLDWIDE.

It was gathered that motor accident had been a frequent occurrences on the same spot because there is no bump to slow down reckless drivers.

A staff working in the school told our Correspondent that accident almost claimed the life of one their Senior Staff but for God's intervention.

According to the staff, the authority in the school have written several letters to the authority concerned to erect bumps without any solution.

They are still appealing to the authority concerned to help safe lives by erecting bumps on the road to prevent unnecessary accidents and deaths.

"This accident occurred in front of Federal Government Girls' College, Akure on 19/01 2024.

It has always been like this often.
Sometimes in September 2023, the school almost lost one of her Senior Staff to accident around the same place after Benin garage in Akure
North LGA.

The staff was hospitalised for so many months. We plead to Federal Ministry of Work and FERMA in Ondo State to help safe the students, staff and the community by erecting bumps around the groove in front of the College gate.

The United Kingdom police appealed Friday for the mother of a newborn baby abandoned in a shopping bag on a London street in freezing conditions to come forward, as the infant receives hospital care.

A dog walker made the discovery Thursday night in east London and alerted emergency services, who found the baby girl wrapped in a towel inside the bag, the Metropolitan Police said.
The newborn was not injured and is well in hospital, the force said, as officers try to trace the mother, who they say will be in need of urgent medical attention.

Met Police Chief Superintendent Simon Crick praised passers-by for “thinking fast” and keeping the baby girl warm in sub-zero temperatures until paramedics arrived.

“I am delighted to report that she wasn’t injured in any way and is safe and well in the care of hospital staff,” Crick said in a statement.

“I am grateful to the members of the public who stayed at the scene to speak with officers and medics — your actions contributed to saving the baby’s life.

“Our thoughts now turn to the baby mother; we are extremely concerned for her welfare as she will have been through a traumatic ordeal and will be in need of immediate medical attention following the birth.”

Like much of northern Europe, London has experienced a cold snap this week, with temperatures plunging below 0 degrees celsius (31 degrees Farenheit) at the time of the baby’s discovery
