Business / Re: Pls What's The Way Outa This News From Diamond Bank? by webtroller: 4:04am On Jan 17, 2016
It means that the use of your card will be banned in non EMV compliant countries. EMV compliance refers to the extra security layer provided by the chip and pin. In the US their atm machines still operate on the old standards which is the magnetic strip. Nigeria recently just migrated from the magnetic strip to chip and pin a few years ago. So it's not a general restriction, only in countries that don't support EMV, which the US IS one.

There's more to this story than meets the eye. How can okada riders burn a student hostel because of mere 'change'? The so-called eye witness isn't telling the truth.
My brother, in gwagwalada, it can be true. This is not a bigoted statement or any such thing. There are animals in that town. I am a witness of the mayhem the locals cause simply because they are the indigenes. xenophobia na small tin.

Crime / Re: I Worked To Raise $6,000 For Libyan love-vendor ─kidnapped Schoolgirl by webtroller: 11:49am On Apr 28, 2015
I think the girl herself wanted to run away to start with, I think she connived with her cousin to help her run away, hence the whole cock and bull story about meeting cultists but not seeing her cousin in ikenne, while she eventually met him under the strangest circumstances in Lagos. She even came back to Lagos with Seun for two whole weeks free enough to stroll with seun and be exchanging slippers, it sounds like a teenage adventure gone wrong because her cousin made her pay for it. And maybe that's why she can't forgive him for "selling her", she thought he was just "helping her".

I fear this could be more than vendetta, for two reasons not totally unrelated. First, he may be clearing out the good soldiers not loyal to him so as to give buhari a limited pool of good soldiers to work with that are not at least semi-loyal to the president; flushing out the good eggs. Second, I think he might be whittling down the army's power strategically based on the BH handlers' instructions. You know, like, any last wishes?

Politics / 17 Major Generals, 14 Brigadier Generals Retired From Nigerian Army by webtroller: 12:09am On Apr 25, 2015
Saw this on NTA News this evening. 17 Major Generals and 14 Brigadier Generals have been retired from Nigerian army today April 24th
Source:http://lindaikeji..com/2015/04/17-major-generals-13-brigadier-generals.html?m=1

The Nigerian Army in a gale of retirements has pulled out 31 Generals from Service and also called for the archiving of the experiences gathered in the ongoing counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram in the North East.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Kenneth Minimah while speaking during the Pulling Out Ceremony of the 17 Major Generals and 14 Brigadier Generals, at    Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja, also charged serving Officers to imbibe the virtue of loyalty to the nation being exemplified by the retiring officers.

Minimah who was represented by the Army Chief of Policy and Plans, Maj-Gen. Ugo Buzugbe, while speaking to journalists after the event, noted that it was a "Thing of pride to have joined the army served meritorious, and are retiring hale and hearty in one piece".

According to him, the ceremony was to honour some of their colleagues who were retiring after serving meritoriously.

He said: "In the army it was a thing of pride to have joined the army, serve in the army and retire meritoriously in sound health. Service in the military is service to humanity because it is only the profession that you pay the supreme price.

"As long as we have conflict that will demand the military involved  some of us  are ready to pay the supreme price as that is what service in the army is all about".

"The only way to surmount the roughness of the profession, because it is rough most of the time, is by training and being professional on the job, this is sacrifice that requires loyalty, commitment and hard work", he added.

Responding on behalf of the retired officers, Maj. Gen. Emmanuel  Bassey (Rtd) called on the Nigerian Army to carefully document its experiences in the ongoing operations in the North-East with a view to improving on its overall combat efficiency.

Bassey who was the reviewing officer at the pulling out ceremony of 31 retired Army Generals, in a Valedictory address on behalf of his colleagues, insisted that combat operation methods and logistics must be reviewed amongst others to enhance combat readiness and efficiency.

He said: "There is indeed no substitute to sound professionalism in the conduct of your duties, no matter its nature or degree of importance. The current security challenge that the Nigerian Army currently faces comes to mind as we retired officers follow the trend of events that affect our constituency-the military.

"It is heart-warning however, to note that very significant progress has been made in the fight against terrorism.

The army must therefore sustain the current momentum and put this difficult moment of our national history behind us".

Bassey commended the Chief of Army Staff and all personnel of the Army for the accomplishment and assured them of the retired officers’ support always.

He reminded the officers to remain loyal and to be extra vigilant always adding that they must demonstrate total commitment to their duty to the nation irrespective of the circumstances.

Bassey further stated that the retired officers should consider themselves fortunate to have retired from the service with sound health.

Going down memory lane, he noted, you will recollect that some of our colleagues paid the supreme sacrifice along the line under various circumstances, all in the service of our dear nation.

It would be painful to watch the mantle of leadership change.

Seeing my beloved country leaving "Goodluck" and embracing change or "badluck" would really be painful.

Anyway I hope I'm proved wrong, am willing to give Buhari a chance nevertheless.

You are going to have to, its not a matter of what you are willing to do. These people up there are talking sound politics not horoscopes. What does luck have to do with anything? Governance is carried out with the mind and the hands, Not with the mouth and the stomach. However, in case you are only trying to save face, and position yourself to be able to do a sharp about-turn when logical, rational miracles starts manifesting from the manifesto, find a more reasonable method of doing it, these people here are intelligent.
