I like this topic its quite educative and also misleading.. You cannot use a few to judge a lot. I studied plant breeding and genetics so I have a first hand experience with genetically Modified food...any GM food out there that will kill u definately hasn't gone thru proper testing.. GM seeds( which grow into fruits etc) are very essential if a country wants to attain food security. Do u know how many insects, diseases and other enviromental hazards that seeds go thru before they are matured? GM seeds are the only way u can bypass all that.. Why do u think Yam is expensive??..well flood came and they couldn't survive..if u planted a GM cassava that can withstand excess water yam won't be so much expensive. |
i personally dont trust/like american cars.. but i think you should do some more research |

The day UVA met up with Pacesetter, JR. How did you arrive at the name JR? Well my real name is Olabode Vincent Junior, so I decided to take out the junior and shorten it to JR to make it sound different from others. What genre would your music fall under? There isn’t a particular one actually. I’m into hip-hop, dancehall, reggae; I do a bit of everything really. Sometimes it also depends on what the fans want so I try to be as versatile as possible. What made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music? It was back in junior secondary school when during lunch breaks, my friends and I would get into rap battles and just make good music. We kept at this for a while until I was like, ‘what the hell? I might as well just do what I like do and make a living out of it!’ http://thepacesetters.org/2012/09/meet-vincent-jr-olabode-b/

Our leaders are totally blinded to the fact that they are still slaves to the colonial system. The ones who will take the mantle of leadership for the next two decades, will have found it too late to understand the games been played in our societies. So it’s up to our generation to do the fixing. Having said that, shall we wait until we attain a grand leadership position to implement change? The answer is NO! We shall start now, in various little ways in our communities and societies. They say charity starts at home; I say changing of our continent can start on that rugged corner down our streets. But first of all, before we can implement change, we have to know what we need to change; in other words what to tackle. We have to understand organized-imperialism, unearth it and make sure we do not fall into the same dirty schemes as our current leaders and past leaders fell into. Some quarters may ask why organized-imperialism, how are we sure it’s the cause of our problems? Well I assure you that it makes up 90 per cent of Africa’s woes and I’ll show you how. http://thepacesetters.org/2012/09/regaining-our-africa-12-trying-to-understand-the-problem/ |

“In an article last week, President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, went after his boss’ critics. By his definition, they included “all the cynics, the pestle-wielding critics, the unrelenting, self-appointed activists, the idle and idling, twittering, collective children of anger, the distracted crowd of Facebook addicts, the BBM-pinging soap opera gossips of Nigeria,” formerly known as Dr. Jonathan’s friends on the Internet. He called them a diverse “army of sponsored and self-appointed anarchists,” who are “in competition among themselves to pull down” the President. As a man who evidently considers himself an authority on public affairs, he said: “The clear danger to public affairs commentary is that we have a lot of unintelligent people repeating stupid clichés and too many intelligent persons wasting their talents lending relevance to thoughtless conclusions.” http://thepacesetters.org/2012/09/what-isnt-president-jonathan-doing/ |
You are the future of Africa!’ We the youth and teenagers have always been told that by the elderly; and this is true. But we never ask them an important question when they make that statement. We never ask: “what type of Africa are we inheriting?” Are we inheriting a glorious, well-organized, systematic and peaceful Africa, or are we inheriting a continent which has little or no hope of progress and sanity? With the way things are shaping up, it is my prediction that we are inheriting the latter. To say Africa is continually going to be in this current predicament or even become worse is true! This will only be true if we, the upcoming generation continue to engage in the practices our current leaders engage in. In my opinion, Africa’s solution to a peaceful, sane, habitable, strong, and independent continent lies deep in the wells of leadership; leadership to serve and not just to be a figure-head. http://thepacesetters.org/2012/09/deep-friday-regaining-our-africa-11-by-emmanuel/ for more |

It was a tough argument between me and my friend, Toyin. It was the kind of argument that could continue for hours until someone (usually the person with the weaker voice) gave up. I was confident – I could remember Mr. Jones continuously telling us the meaning of ‘yardang’ in the last geography class. To make matters worse, there was no geography textbook close by for us to fall back on so we kept throwing words at each other like market women looking for change in Cele. I was ready to continue with the argument until this spark (I call moments like that the ‘eureka moment’) reminded me of Google. I quickly pulled out my blackberry and with two clicks; I found a lifeline. Hidden in perhaps the easiest place to search; Google showed me a clear definition – with explanations – of the term ‘yardang’. That just saved us a bucket of saliva but that’s not the only thing we can learn from that story. http://thepacesetters.org/2012/08/the-important-lesson-i-learnt-from-google-2/ more |
This week it is 17 year old Brittany Wanger from the Out door Academy in Florida. Inspired by her cousin’s diagnosis with breast cancer, Wagner embarked on an intensive and life changing journey to invent a breast cancer screening machine. Brittany is a self taught computer programer and she has been able to teach a computer how to diagnose breast cancer. http://thepacesetters.org/2012/09/innovation-of-the-week-breast-cancer-screening-program-developed-by-17-year-old/ |
