Science/TechnologyRe: Please Help, How Can I Use This Mini Solar Panel by Weirdberg1(op): 12:48pm On Feb 03, 2021
Polaris1:
18v 15w panel is for charging a 12v battery.
You will need a 12v inverter. Most of the small inverters comes with lights/radio and multiple 5v usb ports for phone charging.
The smallest ones are about 13k on jumia and comes with solar panel similar to yours.
You could sell your panel and buy the complete set. (I haven't seen the inverter sometimes called solar lights being sold separately)
Thanks.
I found this after doing a search on jumia. Can I get that one?
if not, can you recommend one?...am asking because I have zero knowledge on stuff like this hence want to make sure I am getting the right device.

I have no experience using solar panels.
Does anyone have an idea on how to use it?

PoliticsCouncillor Allegedly Assault Brothers Wife, Says I Don't Regret My Actions by Weirdberg1(op): 6:17am On Nov 13, 2020
A mother of six, Love Nwanyanwu, has petitioned the Police in Rivers State that her brother-in-law, who is the leader of Etche Legislative Assembly, Blackson Nwanyanwu, attempted to kill her.

Mrs Nwanyanwu in her petition at the Human Rights Desk of the State Police Command said Blackson and three others attempted to kill her on Sunday at Omualu, Etche. The woman with a swollen face spoke with newsmen yesterday.

She called on the law enforcement agencies to ensure that the councillor representing ward twelve in the Etche Legislative Assembly does not go unpunished.

Blackson, in a telephone conversation with the in-law’s daughter, said he had tolerated the sister-in-law for a long time. He did not say in the audio the exact thing that led to the disagreement but admitted slapping the woman.

When our correspondent contacted Mr Blackson Nwanyanwu on the matter, he replied with a text message saying, “Some of you will meet me in court”.

I feel like in Nigeria we have so many traditional and herbal remedies to various health issues that works great. But they are not properly documented and some of these knowledge are slowly getting lost.

I literally witness a neighbor get better within 24 hours from a throat issue she have been having for more than two years. By a woman that came from the village with a leaf.

This is a throat illness that she had been visiting the hospital for regularly that have puzzled doctors.

Because of this, I have open this thread. If you know of any traditional or herbal remedies for any ailment please share them here.

There is nothing wrong with that.
I am just saying the security personnels can go after criminals without becoming criminals themselves.

There are innocent people who have been caught in the cross fire. Oyigbo is the only part of rivers State that is still on curfew. Innocent people that have nothing to do with what is going on cannot even leave their own house or go to work.

people have been hit by stray bullet and everyone is living in fear.

Both the police and army are shooting sparadically moving from house to house and beating people indescriminately. There are combat helicopter hovering over the region.

I just wonder why the security personnels in this country cannot carry out their duties without abusing the rights of other citizens.
PoliticsJudicial Panels Must Investigate All Incidence Including Lekki Shooting — UK by Weirdberg1(op): 9:53pm On Oct 26, 2020
The British High Commission in Nigeria has urged security agents to exercise restraint as they restore law and order in the country.
For about a week now , hoodlums, who hijacked the # EndSARS protests against police brutality, have wreaked havoc and destroyed lives and valuable assets in the country.

In a tweet on Monday , the British Commission again condemned last Tuesday attack at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State where eyewitnesses said soldiers opened fire on protesters around 7 pm .
It , therefore , asked all Judicial Panels of Inquiry to work with relevant stakeholders to efficiently probe the Lekki shootings and wanton looting across Nigeria in the last one week .
@UKinNigeria tweeted , “ We remain concerned by acts of looting and violence in Nigeria and urge security services to use restraint as order is restored .
“ Working with all stakeholders , judicial panels of inquiry must investigate all incidents , including Lekki and ensure accountability for crimes. # EndPoliceBrutality ”

Unidentified uniformed men had opened fire on unarmed demonstrators against police brutality at the Lekki tollgate on Tuesday .
The incident attracted global outrage with local and international civil rights organisations and personalities condemning the attack .
The Lagos State Government subsequently set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to look into the incident and grievances of victims, while calling on the public to come forward with memoranda for discussion.

According to the state government, the panel would commence sitting on Tuesday ( tomorrow ) from 10 am to 4 pm at the Lagos State Court of Arbitration in the Lekki Phase 1 area of the state.

Other Panels of Inquiry had also been set up both at the Federal and State Government levels to investigate other cases of rights violation in the country

PoliticsReturn Looted Items Within 72 Hours, Oyetola Tells Hoodlums by Weirdberg1(op):
Osun State Governor , Gboyega Oyetola , has given hoodlums, who looted government and private assets in the state 72 hours to return the looted items or face the wrath of the law .
The governor gave the order over the weekend while addressing newsmen during an on - the-spot assessment of some of the looted places by the hoodlums.
He called on the hoodlums to surrender all the stolen items to security agents , traditional rulers, local government chairmen and community leaders in their respective domains .
He said those who refused to honour the ultimatum would be tracked and brought to justice , while those who embraced it would be forgiven .

The governor , while sympathising with the victims of the looted assets , promised them government ’ s support .
He said, “ What I witnessed here today is not actually a question of hoodlums , but armed robbers. They have actually removed all the machines that are here.
“ It is very unfortunate . What I have seen here is massive looting , armed robbery and stealing of the highest order .
“ I can say categorically that # EndSARS protest is not what we are seeing here today. This is pure looting and it is all over .
“ As a government , we will look at the possible ways of bringing the victims back to life through our efforts and the intervention of the Federal Government .”

The warehouses where COVID -19 palliatives were stored as well as private stores were recently looted in the state .
The National Grain Silos in Ilesa town was not spared as hoodlums looted all the food items kept in the facility .
Oyetola , worried by the development , had re -imposed a 24 -hour curfew on the state on Saturday .

CrimeLekki Shootings: We Hid Behind Barricades To Escape, Say Eyewitnesses by Weirdberg1(op): 6:47am On Oct 24, 2020
With an emotion-laden voice, Philip Chukwu initially refused to relive his experience on Tuesday at the Lekki Toll Gate area of Lagos. He said he was still in shock and unwilling to grant any interview. But after much persuasion, the 29-year-old teacher at one of the private schools on Lagos Island obliged, on condition that neither his audio nor picture would be published.

He said scores of youths had gathered at the Toll Gate area, playing music and eating, in continuation of the #EndSARS protests that had lasted about two weeks in the country.

Earlier in the day, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had declared a 24-hour curfew which was to start by 4pm but later postponed to 9pm. The governor declared the movement restriction due to reports of killings by the police and reprisals by the people, as well as the burning of police stations and public property.

Sanwo-Olu premised his decision on the fact that some hoodlums had hijacked the peaceful protests.

But despite the curfew, protesters still gathered at the Tollgate; epicentre of the #EndSARS protests.

Chukwu said they sat on the ground and as it got darker, he said he noticed the lights that were usually turned on at the area had been switched off. According to him, it was around 6pm.

Later, Chukwu said he saw trucks arriving with soldiers – adding that thereafter, national flags were distributed among those who gathered there, even as someone told them that if they sat down and sang the national anthem while waving the flags, no soldier would shoot at them.

He said it was not the case that day.

He said, “At around 7pm, we started singing the national anthem and waving the national flag when the soldiers started shooting at us. I observed that they cornered us and mounted barricades before the shooting. We did not upset them in any way. I was even joking with one of the soldiers who looked young that he should join us in protesting against bad governance. He did not laugh, though.

“Not long after was when the shooting started. The soldiers shot into the air and then at protesters trying to flee because of panic. I thought I was going to die but I hid behind some barricades with others, and luckily we were not hit.

“After several minutes of shooting, they left and I had to flee the scene. As I was fleeing, I saw many people wounded on the ground, with blood on the ground. Some would have died.”

Chukwu said since the incident happened, he had not been able to sleep properly as memories of the incident kept flashing back.

“Up till now, I really can’t believe why soldiers would be deployed to the protest ground because we had been peaceful from the first day of the demonstration,” he said.

Another eyewitness and resident of Lekki, Kingsley Omooba, said they were singing the national anthem while sitting on the ground when the soldiers started shooting at them.

He also said unlike in the previous days when lights were usually turned on at the tollgate, they were turned off on Tuesday night.

He told Saturday PUNCH, “We were not violent when the soldiers started opening fire at us. I initially thought they were there to protect us when I saw their trucks. But they fired at us. I hid behind a barricade to escape the gunshots. My heart is broken. I wept like a baby that night.

“Actually, I had thought to leave the scene by 8pm since the curfew was postponed to 9pm. But seeing soldiers at past 6pm was what I could not understand. I even thought they would disperse us with whips or teargas. I had been protesting daily at the tollgate and we had been law-abiding. If they had requested us to leave, I’m sure people would have left gently.”

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has denied deploying soldiers to the Lekki Tollgate and even described the videos of the killings as “photoshopped.”

Also, Sanwo-Olu insisted soldiers were deployed and that 30 were injured and being treated in hospitals. He also said only one person died as a result of the gunshot injuries.

Amnesty International has said at least 12 protesters were killed at Lekki, adding that it received “credible but disturbing evidence of excessive use of force occasioning deaths of protesters at Lekki tollgate.”

Also, live video streams on social media on Tuesday night showed some wounded people lying in the streets or being carried by others into hospital emergency rooms.

In a broadcast on Friday, the governor said the terms of reference of the seven-member Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses had been expanded to look into the incident.

Sanwo-Olu said the panel, headed by retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, would commence sitting on Monday at the Lagos Court Arbitration Centre International, Lekki. He urged members of the public to send petitions and evidence on the incident to the panel.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), addressed the country on Thursday but failed to mention the Lekki shootings.

Buhari berated people he tagged subversive elements as using #EndSARS protesters to cause chaos and truncate the country’s democracy.

In a national broadcast, he begged youths calling for the disbanding of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and police reforms to suspend their protests.

“I, therefore, call on our youths to discontinue the street protests and constructively engage the government in finding solutions. Your voice has been heard loud and clear and we are responding,” he said.

The President’s snubbing of the Lekki killings, tagged #LekkiMassacre on social media, has generated outrage, even as the killings have generated international condemnation from the United States, the United Kingdom, the International Criminal Court, and the African Union, among others.

Politics#endsars: UK Parliament May Debate Petition Against Nigeria As 148,000 Sign by Weirdberg1(op): 12:58pm On Oct 21, 2020
No fewer than 148, 864 individuals have signed a petition asking the United Kingdom to sanction members of the Nigerian government and police force for human rights abuses over the # EndSARS movement .
This was as of 09 .20 am when our correspondent visted official webiste of the British parliarment .

You can view the petition statistics or sign the petition here ==> https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/554150

The petition, which was created by one Silas Ojo , seeks to generate 100 ,000 signatures .
According to information obtained from the website , any petition signed by over 100 , 000 individuals will be discussed .
It stated that a date for debate would be announced on the peition .

It reads , “ Parliament will consider this for a debate. Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100 ,000 signatures for a debate
“ Government will respond . Government responds to all petitions that get more than 10 ,000 signatures. ”
The petition noted that sanctioning government officials would enhance accountability in the country .

The petition on the UK government and parliament website read, “ There have been deeply concerning reports of a Nigerian police force unit ( SARS ) engaging in illegal activities and human rights abuses, and there have also been reports of police firing at protestors calling for SARS to be disbanded .
“ Implement sanctions against the Nigerian Government and officials .
“ The Government should explore using the new sanctions regime that allows individuals and entities that violate human rights around the world to be targeted, to impose sanctions on members of the Nigerian government and police force involved in any human rights abuses by the Nigerian police .

“ Deploying sanctions would provide accountability for and be a deterrent to anyone involved in violations of human rights . ”
Nigerians , especially the youths, have taken to the streets in protest over violations of human right and extrajudicial killing by police personnel , specifically those of the defunct Special Anti - Robbery Squad.

RomanceRe: Can You Love Someone Without Sexual Attraction by Weirdberg1: 11:42am On Oct 18, 2020
To answer that question, you need to first ask yourself what love is.

What you just describe is not love. It is a trick of evolution to get you to procreate in other to preserve our specie.

Notice that this feeling is compulsive. Love is not compulsive. Notice also that this feeling is directed toward the opposite sex (if you are not gay). Does that mean you can not love your child, an animal, or even an object. If you can, why are you not having sex with them.

The compulsions of sex is necessary to preserve any specie that is not as intelligent as a human. if any specie loses this compulsion they will become extinct.
