Igboid:
How exactly did Yorubas deliver GEJ in 2011, what type of " fuckery" is this? Why do you people revel in outright lies and falsehoods?

It is a known fact that despite not being Igbo or from the SE, GEJ main block Vote in 2011 came from the SE.
The turnout for presidential elections in 2011 in SW was poor, simply because none of the candidates were Yorubas. Despite GEJ not being Igbo, Ndiigbo turned up in mass and delivered him. How dare you treacherous people try to re write a history as recent as 5yrs ago, what sort of madness is this?

In 2003, despite Buhari fielding an Igbo VP, ObJ won the SE.
Yaradua also in 2007, despite Buhari picking an Igbo VP, won more Igbo votes.

Between 1999 to 2015, Igbos had voted for A Yoruba president( OBJ), Northern president ( Yaradua) and a Southern minority president( GEJ).

We owe no Nigerian group any votes as it stands, they all owe us One, which we know will not be given.
Calm down. That was an excerpt from an article your brother quoted and gave a link to. I didn't write the article. Take your fight elsewhere. You can't change history. You do not need to agree either but facts are facts.

[s]Your arguments are myopic, thoughtless, halfsighted and totally blind! Why on earth would a country take a loan and get a satellite when it is still going through a recession? There are so many problems out there that needs immediate attention case in point- The Power Sector!

It is so glaring that your oversight on this project is heedless and careless as well as inconsiderate to the plight of many Nigerians who live below $1/day. The government of the day show grow up and seek solutions to necessary quarters not cosmetic solutions to realistic problems[/s].

There is no point arguing with you! Goodluck with your satellite scam!
It is just a big shame that NLders won't concede to superior arguments. You lack basic understanding of facts and you would be proud to display such ignorance. But again, this is NL. Any kid can comment.

Goodluck trying to defend a white elephant project! Besides, your comments are not making any sense! initially you said I told you Nigeria's satellite didn't last beyond 18 months! So far you have not cleared that argument!
Your comprehension is just so petty.
Let me make it easier, for instance, that a car is said to last 5 years is no guarantee that nothing will happen to it before 5 years.
Satellites have average life span of 5 to 8 years. Some recent manufacturers have been able to increase this lifespan to up to 20 (with corresponding increased cost).
That we lost one after just 18 months in 2014 for whatever reasons does not mean we don't have others or that we do not need to replace ageing satellites.
I think I have done enough to enlighten you on this simple fact.
This project is laudable and would be of immense benefit to Nigeria.

nairaman66:
Is that the reason the satellite disappeared? For the records the satellite did not stay up to 2 years
No one has given usthe reason why it disaapreaed. We know Space is vast. Its Sad it happened, but during our Hero tenure, nothing was strange
nairaman66:
Besides, the government said insurance would pay for a replacement!
Show me one insurance company anywhere in the world that insures Satellites situated in orbit. Somewhere you can't go to verify or visit. No insurance company does that
nairaman66:
It is absolutely foolish for the government to get a loan to purchase a satellite when they are myriads of problems facing the country at this time. This move is not only directionless, but nonsensical to borrow and fund a White Elephant in space!
No. Its not foolish, only shallow minders see it that way. Because our Government is corrupt doesn't mean that all of us engage in one way or the other in government are corrupt. This project is laudable and very timely. Kudos to the FG and the Minister for pulling this through. But of course online rants can go on while those who understand the need go on with their work to make this country work.

Its sad they lost a Satellite. Pure unprofessionalism.
But other Satellites have outlived their lifespan. Average lifespan of Satellites is 5 years. Meaning every 5 years, new Satellites have to be launched.

I have read it, and I will help you with the last sentence.

..... If the Yoruba could deliver President Goodluck Jonathan of PDP in 2011 despite having their own party’s candidate as a result of alliance with the South South , I see no reason why the Igbos cannot do the same but until then; the Igbo will never rule Nigeria again.

There are more critical issues, issues like extreme hunger and a failing economy. There should be a scale of preference, impoverishing ourself just to seem like we belong is just tantamount to lying to ourselves. it's just synonymous with that adage about going broke just to look rich.
and you are yet to see a connection here with having a Satellite in orbit? huh

Bros, I don't think there is anybody who will say launching satellite is not good but we have a million more priority ahead of it at this moment. For goodness sake, 550m USD can get us 2 medium sized modular refineries which will solve our immediate fuel problems and boast our naira. etc So why take loan for something like that when there are more pressing issues?
I have answered this kinda question earlier. Read up bro.

There's something called scale of preference and opportunity cost you know...
What Nigeria needs urgently now is constant electricity and working refineries...
And this trend of calling everyone haters is absurd...
Moreover, I cannot commend this as there are no timelines given...you cannot be planning something and there are no timelines....
Since food, Power and Employment are the only problems you see, maybe we should close all ministries, sack all ministers except those of Agriculture Power and Employment. huh huh huh.

You want timelines, blame the journalists. Full project life cycle is included in the agreement documents signed with the Chinese. If you want it, i believe the ministry can provide. #FreedomOfInformation

That is not our problem now. Satellite is not our problem, who will use it when there is no food and hunger is in the land. We have got pressing issues not satellite issues.
Use the 550 million dollars and build industries and create jobs and watch it grow to billions.
Very stupid action, leaving fire to chase rat!!!
I employ you to Google the benefits of satellite before talking here. Google is still free

All the previous ones we've supposedly launched how much connectivity have they given us, we couldn't even locate exactly where chibok girls were hidden a year after their abduction. Launching two satellites in a country where 99% of the industres have to generate their own power from god knows where, is a white elephant project. Very convenient for em, Nigerians won't even be able to confirm what was launched.
No serious Government will face JUST ONE Problem and ignore other ones. Growth and development comes by attending to all issues as much as you can.
If we don't have our own, we will pay for satellite information from other countries. Its as simple as that.

So what you are saying now is that it's this satellite that will provide 24/7 electricity, restore lost jobs and make naira regain the lost value.

No matter how foolish a policy is there are some fools that will still buy into it because they 've closed their eye to any foolish thing that the present government are doing.
